I'd never even thought of playing Mass Effect... not until I saw this song and all the comments from fellow fans. I'm sure glad I trusted you all and gave it a shot. One of the best series I'll ever play
Despite being an old tribute, this song holds special significance to me. My mother passed away last week from one of many medical problems, and I watched as the last ember of life faded from her eyes. Shortly after, I sought comfort in this song because of how emotional and uplifting it was, also because I love Mass Effect to bits, and it's now my personal theme whenever times get tough. My mother never surrendered, nor bowed before any challenge - and neither will I. This song will remind me of that. Thank you.
But I carry strength from souls now gone They won't let me give in... I know how you feel. I lost my mother, too. She was a fighter, fierce, light of my life. And the only reason I haven't surrendered. You have my complete understanding and I'm eternally grateful for this song, Malukah
My mother recently passed away after a 4 year fight with cancer; I know what you mean and I am so, so very sorry for your loss, especially as Mother's Day is coming. I was feeling down and returned to this video for comfort, 2 years after I first saw it. God Bless.
Mass Effect wasn't a game. It was a vivid experience, evoking emotions within me I've really only experienced through well done works of film. It was art, pure and simple, as was their soundtrack and your rendition. Thank you very much.
Amen from me, as well. Drew Karpyshyn's stories are always well written, but Mass Effect was something else. Never have I been so drawn into a fictional universe like I have with ME. I became so attached to the characters in it, that when Mordin died in the third game, I cried real tears. That's surprising, considering I have a condition preventing me from producing tears in the first place...
Cj Lange Goddamn....when he started singing right before the explosion... Or Thane.... For god sakes, I fell in love with an aliens whose face I can't even see -_- lol
TheMadThresher mordins death was the saddest of all, and whats awesome about it is that ive seen it on a lot of top 5 or top 10 saddest video game deaths with him in it, his song was awesome, it had to be him, someone might have gotten it wrong -_-,
Kaidan/Ashley: Let's advance together! Tali: Shepard, I'll come to your support anytime. Liara: I'll always be with you, no matter what. Garrus: Once more into the fire? Heh, there's nowhere I'd rather be. Let's do this. Wrex: The enemy will know the might of our combined force, Shepard. Kasumi: This is shaping up to be one amazing partnership eh, Shepard? Grunt: I'll crush your enemies whoever they are, Shepard. Thane: Kalahira, bless this one for his/her quest is nearly done. Jack: Well shit, let's just kill them all, shall we? Miranda: Let's get right to business, no time to waste after all. Legion: Shepard-Commander, we calculated 99.9% rate of success for this mission. Zaeed: What the goddamn hell are we waiting for? Let's just blast the door down and kill those bastards. Samara: I uphold the code of justice. You, Shepard, are justice. And I'll be right beside you. Morinth: Let's not waste any time with these trash. Mordin: So many experiments to do. Too many research needs to be conducted. But I'll always have time for you, Shepard. Jacob: You lead, I'll follow. Wherever that may be. Javik: Commander, this cycle have hope because of you. Now let's show the enemy what fear is. James: Hell Loco/Lola, I still got one up on you in the kill count. Show me what you got, come on. EDI: Commander, just give the word, the Normandy is always ready. Joker: All systems are green and ready to go, Commander. Anderson: I'm proud of you, always. Hackett: You have done the impossibles time and time again. Truly, you are a shining beacon for us all.
+Natura Z Polski there was gonna be another ending to the game but then Ea was like WE WANT MONEY NOW! WE DON'T CARE HOW JUST DO IT. thus the rushed ending
It's the power of interactive story telling Stays with you because it felt like you were there, all those dramatic moments feel that much more personal
Walking among the ruins of the Normandy SR-1, truly an experience, reading all the names on the dogs tags. Pressly's datapad. I know I'm a decade late to the Mass Effect party but it still hits.
Also, points on the songs concept. Rather than brag about invincibility, you tell a tale of someone who knows they'll falter, but has faith not in their perfection, but their resilience. Bravo.
***** The greatest gift of the internet might be that link. Exploring it, without "world leaders" or in some cases even languages getting in the way, and discovering.....for the most part, we get along pretty well.
HotaruZoku I'm not sure about that. I don't think the vast majority does get along very well. Its weird but when granted the internet, an existence that allows all cultures and communities to exist in unison, the first thing people do is find a new community. I guess we just aren't cut out for such exploration of our world. However, you sometimes get wonderful moments like this! So thanks

@@kehillkandraak1429 sometimes all it takes is a few minor tweak, better editing software, and of course improved editing skills can sometimes bring to life and older song as good as it is. Gavin Dunne (miracle of sound) has done this a couple of times and you can definitely hear the improvement in the latter songs.
I know Malukah will never read this but... everytime i listen to this it just brings up all the feels of these games... almost impossible to hold back the tears... you did an amazing job on this song.
*cant handle the exitement from you actually replying* I love all your songs really. I can see and hear how much efford and feelings you put into these. Everytime you upload something i get super exited. Really. Keep up the amazing work. I will allways love your music! You are amazing Malu! (Btw. Your reply made my day. :3)
As a soldier now, when we do long marches, I often have this song stuck in my head. And when I feel like my feet are about to give up and my body just says no, it gives me a lot of motivation. Thank you very much for this song!
"Had to be me, someone might gotten it wrong" "It seems there will be no one to mourn me when I die you're the only friend I've made in 10 years" "Shepard-commander does this unit has a soul" "I want you to know that no matter what happens, you've been a champion to the Krogan people, a friend of clan Urgnot. and a Brother to me. To every Krogan born after this day the name "Shepard" will mean 'Hero'!!!" "Not sure if Turian heaven is the same as your but if this thing goes sideways and we both end up there, meet me at the bar. I'm buying....... And Shepard forgive me for insubordination but your Boyfriend here order you to come... Back... Alive. It would be awfully empty galaxy without you." "I backed you when I was just a kid on her Pilgrimage I backed you when the Normandy was a Cerberus ship wherever you go I go with you"
I just finished the trilogy for the first time, and it was this song that sent me on that journey. Thank you for this masterpiece and all the emotion it gave me over these years.
+Mariusz Jakubczyk (maryhan) Indeed. I listened to this song again after more than 2 years and immediately felt the urge to play the games again. And the Halo song was actually what made me play those games in the first place. Awesome music and great videos to accompany it!
+Mariusz Jakubczyk (maryhan) Wow this should be in the ME4 trailer/intro wow this makes me wanna buy ME3 to finish the series then buy ME4 when it comes out... Good bye Shepard :(
I love this song so much and loved every character thru out the series thank you malukha you my idol you are truly amazing and I can't help singing along and miss this series so much I need to play it back someday and I still listen to this bring back all memories I have had in series
2020 has been a rough year. This song is one of the few that has helped me fight through a lot of the extra difficulties in my personal life that have happened alongside all the public 2020 events. Thank you, Malukah, for making so many beautiful songs.
Hope can drown lost in thunderous sound Fear can claim what little faith remains But I carry strength from souls now gone They won't let me give in [Chorus:] I will never surrender We'll free the Earth and sky Crush my heart into embers And I will reignite... I will reignite [Verse 2:] Death will take those who fight alone But united we can break a fate once set in stone Just hold the line until the end Cause we will give them hell [Chorus:] I will never surrender We'll free the Earth and sky Crush my heart into embers And I will reignite... I will reignite
It's just a remaster and It's EA.. All we will get is tweaked visuals and PROBABLY all dlc's in the game already implemented, don't get your hopes up for getting new soundtracks or anything.
8 years later... and I still got the feels hearing this again. I read a lot , I mean A LOT of novel / fantasy / fiction, but no series were as memorable as the original ME trilogy.; the characters, story and music. It was a journey I'm glad I was part of. Maybe that's the beauty of a game as a medium. Well, not the crap they spew out these days; simple time waster and never ending grinds.
A song for Shepard. A song for Mass Effect. A song for humanity. Reignite will forever be Mass Effect's single greatest tribute. There's simply no other that's more synonymous with what this franchise and Commander Shepard mean to so many people.
Mass effect is a work of art and I am sad to say this I don't think they can ever make a game set in the universe that can recapture what made it so great but to quote garrus "i like to expect the worst there's a small chance I will be pleasantly surprised"
Malukah, I just saw Eileen from Ukraine's cover of this song. I wanted to thank you for letting her use it. First off, when I first heard your version from 10 years ago, I got goosebumps and I cried. Now I got to hear Eileen sing it about her country and what they're going thru right now, and I was moved to tears again. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS!
and today I came across this song with her help, honestly, I’m not a fan of the mass effect series, but I wanted to play it, because the song touched me
10 years after this song came out I still come back to listen many things has changed from then to now... both globally and personally... Malukah if you read this comment thank you for the song
p.s. im from russia and when i was a child i couldn't understand the lyrics but i definitely could feel it.. so now i can understand whole lyrics and leave a comment there.. thanks a lot for this song Malukah
+Enzo Girl use Tali for the tube only. Ensure you have all ship upgrades and everyone is loyal before you collect the Reaper IFF. Legion's loyalty mission is the last mission that should be completed otherwise someone, including some crew members will die.
This is what Mass Effect is about. Fighting against impossible odds. Bonding under the fierce flames of war with the unlikeliest friends in the galaxy. Persevering despite persecution. Screwing destiny. Never surrendering. If BioWare stays true to those tenets, the heart and soul of Mass Effect, it won't matter if Ryder and Co. crash-land on a medieval planet and it turns into Dragon Age. It won't matter if the animations are crap, or the acting is cardboard. It will be Mass Effect, the game that we all know and love. The series will reignite.
Here's hoping that that Bioware takes some notes from CDRP's Witcher series, as they managed to capture the magic of Baldur's Gate that was lost in the new millennium and beyond.
if you remember the mass effect trilogy wasn't perfect while playing through it i ran into ton of bugs that would turn any game bad like tali breaking her own fucking neck that glitch where the omni tool stays after reactivating legion cant forget the one where shepard and co get covered in black boxes on noveria in ME1 so in my opinion andromeda was great in its own sense it introduced new powers and allowed you to switch profiles in combat so you can be the ultimate soldier or a powerful biotic.
It was a bad start, but it is salvageable, get the newby studio off one of your most popular series, get your shit together, and make Andromeda just a stumble in a great series, get back to what the series was about, Unity, Never surrendering in the face of insurmountable odds and getting out of bed to fight alongside your brothers and sisters regardless of color, creed nationality, sexuality, species, or DNA Chirality and fighting to just live another day.
Malukah, I have a confession that will make any long term me fan hate me. I played skyrim etc and one day I saw this on your channel. I'd never played mass effect but listened to it thinking, "Fuck it, I'll listen because it's likely still good music." Shortly afterward I came across mass effect and thought, "Oh, this! Sure, I'll give it a shot." Over 100 hours in each game(200 in one or two) I decided to listen to this song again. When I first came it was beautiful. The second I was in tears. Thank you.
+ohaz coming in SUPER late to the series. Meaning I can guarantee there is one of… those people? Yeah… I'll go with that. That would find the fact that I listened to this without any comprehension absolutely disgusting. Downside of the Internet.
Why would anyone find that disgusting ? The point is you played the games and you love them, just as much as all ME fans, it does not matter when you experienced the games, the thing that matters is that you experienced them at all.
Mass Effect has to be my favourite series of all time, I'm glad you found it enjoyable! Anyone who would hate you for not having played a specific game needs help, everyone has different tastes. :)
Was recently at a very low point; dropped out of college, crushed by debts. Found this song as I was just sinking deeper, browsing sad tunes. But the lyrics gave me hope, helped me get on with things. Been listening to it any time things got rough and although I won't say it single handedly made me turn my life around, it helped. So, now my debts are almost gone and I've just been accepted in the Canadian Armed Forces as a Network Technician, thought I'd come to the source and express gratitude... So, thanks, Malukah, your music is forever a positive force in my life's story.
Last time I cried so much at 25, when Portgas D. Ace died in One Piece. Now I'm 28, I just finished ME3 6th time and I'm crying again. Thank you, Malukah. You're amazing.
Ive played 1, 2 and im currently on 3 because this cover alone that made me feel like. I don't know if im any close to the end though, it's feeling a long game the 3rd one. PS : ive heard about the backlash ending of the 3rd but didn't want to go into much detail so i dont spoil myself. No pun intended.
Yeah, this song is so perfect that I used a mod to put this song as the credits' theme. It made me cry, but it felt so adequate... (Well, the mod altered a bit the ending so it has more sense, but yeah. Beautiful song anyways).
I bought the Mass Effect Trilogy when I was losing my mind waiting for the next Dragon Age. And now, I like Mass Effect More. Well, the Trilogy at least. I was less impressed with ME: Andromeda, even though I'm waiting for the next one.
@@juliavanblarcom8666 Unfortunately, there isn't going to be another Andromeda, unless something changes. The fans were rabid and ripped it apart on release because of some temporary problems and caused Bioware to shutter the whole project.
@@shadowscall7758 that's not entirely true, apart from the bad animation and glitches the gameplay was repetitive , voice actors were bad, story bad and just did not make the same impact on people. I played the game and tbh I can't remember one thing that made me like the main character. Commander Shepherd story was so much more and the voice actor did a fantastic job. ME Andromeda deserves what it got, and BTW it was not made by the same people as the trilogy.
It is now 2019, and you are not the only one. "I don't know if they can feel fear - but we'll damn sure give them the opportunity. HIT THEM HARD! One way, or the other, it ends here!"
Hey Malukah! It has been 4 years since your cover of The Dragonborn Comes...man time does fly fast! But your music is never getting old! I'm still here 4 years later enjoying your beautiful voice! Keep up the awesome work!!! :)
Judging by the numbers: 3,175,593 people set their heart and soul on fire as they played through the Mass Effect trilogy. I was one of those people. Long live the Mass Effect series, for it is more than a gaming experience - it is an awakening. Thank you Malukah for your tribute song.
baciccin vattene a cà I am doing my first playthrough of the trilogy at the moment and I promise you, it's one of the best sci-fi's out there :D You should go check it out
Years later and every time I hear this song I cry, it’s honestly astonishing. You are a wonderful singer, only singer to sing with such emotion to make me cry and a lot of others. I can honestly say you are the single best singer I’ve ever heard. It’s the “I carry strength from souls now gone” that hits hard.
This is actually enough to make my grown ass cry. 6 years since I first played this series, and fell in love with games with rich story telling. I absolutely loved how the game used the soundtrack to carry the plot. And you did it a beautiful justice. Thank you.
2024 and still listening to this masterpiece. Mass Effect was not only a game but a massive life lesson in more ways than I can express. Its a timeless emotional rollercoaster full of hope and loss. Thank you so much for keeping the memories alive through your beautiful song ❤❤
Came back to this again, after so many years. Friends, remember your strength in times of darkness. Remember the choices you made, that carried you forward. Paragon or Renegade - you stand here now, in the stead of many. You will withstand this. Your story does not end here.
This is still as hauntingly beautiful as the first time I heard it a few years ago. Such a suitable song for the end of the trilogy. This song playing at the end of the Citadel DLC is my perfect head canon to the end of Shepard's story.
I keep telling myself I need to replay the Mass Effect Trilogy, but I can never bring myself to do it. I know some people really dislike BioWare's games, but for me, they were such a deeply personal experience that they've become a part of my life. I don't feel like I had my Shepard romance Liara, I feel like I _personally_ fell in love with her. And it's actually painful to revisit a lot of points in the series. It's the same with Dragon Age. They're such good games, but I don't want to put myself through them again...
I got all my save game wiped because my PS3 was corrupted (yes, I am a console peasant :D) and now I basically HAVE to play the entire series again, since I intend on buying Mass Effect 4.
I genuinely despise most of the remastered stuff that they're porting to the current-gen for many, many reasons, but I would buy a remastered ME series. Unlike a useless Diablo port, a remastered ME1 would actually benefit from that.
I have to agree. it was always so painful. I personally think bioware did an insanely incredible job on the series. It always felt personal. No middleman in my way.
Said it once, said it a thousand times, this song is absolutely beautiful and conveys the emotion I feel for the original Mass Effect Trilogy. Thank you Malukah. Here's hoping that your work continues to inspire fans and developers alike, helps the series reignite after the failure of Andromeda with a new game filled with the sense of discovery, adventure, and lasting friendships that the original series contained in spades. Once again, absolutely beautiful.
I am such a huge fan of you work but after finishing the Mass Effect series I found this. I won't lie I broke down and cried lol. I was so moved by the game and characters. Hearing this song was just the perfect addition to the games. I love that you're a singer and a gamer. From one game fan to another keep it up beautiful! Your voice is so ethereally beautiful I could (and have) listened to it for hours. It all started with Skyrim for me and I've never looked back. Thank you!
And your personal responses make things even better. Keep it up beautiful! Looking forward to more. Now if only we could get you Peter Hollens, AND Lindsey Stirling to do a collaboration I'd be ecstatic!!!!
MEA crushed my heart into embers. But we will reignite! For the past week I've been listening to this song on a daily basis. And every time it chokes me and brings tears to my eyes (have to hide it from people around, they will not understand a grown-up man tearing over a videogame tribute. But anyway, what do they know...) Malukah, you are the best, and your voice is just pure magic. My salutations!
Holy cow this is incredible! I recently played mass effect and finished, had to be the best or one of the best gaming experiences I ever had. Amazing cover and tribute.
@@krixpop I didn't play ME:A (and ME 3 to be honest) but wha bothers me is why it looks so bad. Mybe it's matter of vid quality or sth, but on gameplays it looks worser than 1st part of Shap's trilogy.

I cannot express how much this song means to me. Beyond it's connection to the games. Too many times I almost gave up, gave up on my goals, gave up on my motivation and I will never tell my friends and family this, gave up on living. When I was spent and at my certain end, this song gave me the strength to push on. And now, I have a loving fiancee, beautiful children and hope. Thank you Malukah. You gave me hope and a life I love.
I can’t thank you enough for sharing this with me. It’s amazing to hear you’ve overcome so many struggles. I am happy for you!!! And feel very moved that this song kept you company when you needed it. I send you and your family an enormous hug from Mexico!
Mass Effect is by far the best trilogy I have ever played with it. The story behind it, the teamwork, the determination is incredible. I have played through the trilogy several times and it motivates me to do better in my own life. I see my model of Shepard as the image I wish to become. Bioware did an awesome job creating the game, Drew Karpyshyn wrote a great prequel book to it, and now Malukah has written and sung an incredible masterpiece that attributes perfectly to the series. Great job everyone! Keep up the hard work Malukah your music is awe inspiring and incredibly beautiful. ;)
Your voice is giving me goose bumps. Discovered the awesome that is Malukah from your Dragonborne Comes video. Been a fan ever since. Keep up the good work!
Bearded Viking Thank you, Bearded Viking! You have the best name ever! haha! It's so cool that you've been watching these vids since Dragonborn. The fact that you are still listening, makes me feel very encouraged!!!
Malukah Never forget how many lives you touch with your amazing talent. :) Thank you for keeping my entertained and somehow creating music that breeds such amazing emotions into my ears. ~
Jonathan Chua The only game that made me shed a tear on several occasions. The arrival of the Alliance Fleet at the end of Mass Effect 1 and the saving of Destiny Ascension. The death of Mordin Solus. The sacrifice of Grunt. And many others. The best game I ever played. Thank you Malukah for this touching song. I am not the first to tell you that you should work with game developers on musical coverage for their products and I will not be the last. But for what it's worth - thank you.
veslar hey i was thinking the same thing about she should work for game developers on the musical coverage. The song makes me feel like im not alone but i dont play mass effect
Chris Meade Mordin's death really shaken me. "My project, my work, my responsibility. Someone else might have gotten it wrong." The choice to give your life so entire species could live. The greatest sacrifice and the most meaningful death a sentient being could hope for.
In 2012, I played Mass Effect for the first time. I called it "the best game I've ever played." Recently I received the Legendary Edition for my birthday. After twelve years, I played this game again. I felt like I was going back in time. Now I know that this is the Game of my Life. Thank You for this song. Twelve years later, it still lights my way in this dark world.
Made by Bioware, that should be an answer... ^^ More seriously, it was nearly a revolution for it's time. I think it might be a little outdated now ( it's 12 years old now) but if you can find it for less than 10 USD (Steam sales for example) it's totally worth it. I'm maybe not totally honest (I'm a Star Wars fan) but I think the best way for you to have an idea is to read the critics. PS: it's not the story of the movies. KOTOR take place 4000 years before the movies.
+Discord Lexia +Loïc van der Wielen is right Knights of the Old Republic is a very good story and the Knight of the Old Republic 2 is just as good though I recommend The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod which fixes a lot of the issues and adds the cut content from the game. All of this can be found on Steam
After all this time it's just way, way better. It's not just Normandy's crew remembering the good, old times, and seeking for hope in the darkness. Now it's us, And we're all in this together.
IS MALUFENIX FAMOUS YET???? BECAUSE SHE SHOULD BE!! I haven't heard a voice that gave me chills like this in a long time! That is the difference between good and GREAT!
Wanted to let you know, that five years later, this song still breathes inspiration into dying light. Just humming the lyrics, and listening to the tune, has kept me on a balance - at least to some degree. It reminds me that no matter what suffering we go through, one can always burn themselves away and reignite themselves into something more. Don't often say this publicly, but been dealing with fibro (among other ailments) for about 4 years now. And this song (as well as others...don't want to blow it too far up your ass :P), has helped quite a bit in keeping my mind positive. From your descriptions of dealing with anxiety, it sounds like you may understand the type of rebirth I'm speaking of, and I believe this song speaks to it quite well. Just wanted to let you know that it's done some good, and I hope you continue in your music career. You have an amazing voice, and you're a great artist when it comes to lyrics and song construction in acoustical music. Thank you for all the good work, and the inspiring vibes that ripple from it.
Damn you, Malukah. What is it about this song that makes me cry every time I hear it? If I have any problem with it, it's that IT'S TOO SHORT! If you would ever revisit one of your songs to do an extended version, my vote would be for this one. So very well done!
The first time I heard this song, I had just beat the whole mass effect remastered trilogy. I was listening to Spotify in the background, and as soon as the first notes began to play, I stopped what I was doing immediately and cranked up the volume. By the time the song was over, I was sobbing. The emotion, the lyrics, everything about it gripped my heart so tightly it hurt. Every time I listen to this, I feel the same emotions every time. I'm in awe. Thank you so much for making this.
I haven't played Mass Effect in a long time, i was so in love with this game that i had probably done 10 play throughs of it......i know it is just a game but it really does feel you leave behind all of the relationships you had with these characters.... i randomly decided to look up Mass Effect videos today and now all i wanna do is play this game again.... I think this summer I'm gonna do a play through of Mass Effect and reunite with some of the best video game characters ever!!
This song made me fall in love with Mass Effect. If not for this song, I would never have played it. Listening to it again, now, years later, and it still makes my heart soar. Thank you.
I am a late newcomer in ME fandom. The first time I played ME1 was few months ago LOL. Buying the game in Steam was one of the best decisions in my life. I remembered the first time I explored the galaxy in ME1, I was speechless. The lore, the history, the story, the CHARACTERS are splendid. I thought that there is no way ME2 can surpass it, and well you know what happened :) ME3 by itself is not as good as the previous two games, but considering the journey to reach that point, it was beautifully done. ME is one of the few franchises which change my life, I LOVE it. I plan to play it many times, trying different background story, choices, love interests, using mods, etc. And guess what, your song was the one which made me FINALLY play ME 1. I did not know any detail of ME stories, but you song tug my heartstrings, and I knew I HAVE to play the game. Thank you very much :)
This song always brings back memories of playing the Mass Effect Trilogy. My favorite gaming experience. And truly a phenomenal piece of music! The Beauty of Dawn is too!
Thank you for allowing me to sing your song in Ukrainian. This is very necessary for the Ukrainian people and our soldiers who defend us in this terrible war. Thank you very much from Ukraine 🇺🇦. We will never give up!
@@PhoenixValkyrie it sounds very beautiful in our Ukrainian language. Glory to the heroes 🇺🇦💪these words are sacred for us 🔥 Thank you very much for your support!
If you had asked me 20 minutes ago which of your songs was my favorite, I would have told you that "Age of Oppression" had no match. But my absolute, deep love for the Mass Effect series combined with your strong vocals and instrumentals take the cake. This song should be in the game, as it captures the emotions and the tragedy that plague the storyline. Thank you for making this art and sharing it with us.
Cmdr Jack Shepard "Victory at all costs, We will not lose this fight, for if we lose, we all perish. This fight will take some of those close to us, they will die with honor and be remembered by those they fought for, those they protected, those they didn't even know. None will be forgotten, even those who die in the dark, unknown to any."
Her interpretation is awesome. Especially if you've played the games and learned to know and like the characters, it has so much feeling in it. And I can absolutely relate to what you're saying.
you left my speechless and i have never been left speechless. awesome job. in a good way. you made me go back and play all the games again you are the best.
Mass effect is the best game i ever played. I am 15 years later a working man, a father and a husband. Sorry to say i don't have the time I once had to play games. This video is one of those videos you return to when you miss the gaming days. When I hear this song I'm back as Commander Shepard. Feeling the way I did when I had to make those very tough decisions. What route will i take? Who will i save? How do i choose? This game is a masterpiece and this song is the same! It catches the core experience of the game and delivers it with raw emotion through song. Thank you for this @Malukah.
Thank you so much for returning to this song. As a mom and wife myself now, I hear you on time not being enough to get to play much! Glad we have this memory of such a great franchise! Thank you so much for your beautiful comment!
This song motivated me to purchase what is now my favorite game of all time (along side FF6, obviously), Mass Effect 2. The emotional weight carried in this song fits so well with the Mass Effect series that I couldn't help but burst into tears when hearing this again recently. Thank you, Malukah, for this masterpiece :'D
Koekje Shepard I bought 1 and 3 afterwards, and I still didn't like them as much as ME2. The larger amount of RPG elements in ME1 were nice, and the ME3 MP was really fun too (Spent over 500 hours in it), but I never had as much fun as when I played ME2. Saying that, that doesn't mean I hate the series. No, it is probably my favorite video game franchise of all time, I just enjoyed ME2 more than the rest.
ME2 RULES! FemShep is so awesome! I can't believe they made a Anime movie about Mass Effect and decided to use a male shep. If they make a movie, they need a redheaded, lesbian FemShep!
Humpahna they are in the works of making a Mass Effect movie, but I don't think you will see femShep because what I have heard is it will be based on the first Mass Effect timeline. (2016-2017 timeframe because the studio that's doing it is also doing uncharted and another video game into a movie first, even though they should do Mass Effect first)
Hehe! That means a lot to me. Thank you for sharing. I cried when I wrote it. To this day if I think too much about the lyrics while singing this live, I cry, too. Hehe ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I’m like “technique Malukah, focus on singing technique onlyyyy” hahaha

Thank you.
But I carry strength from souls now gone
They won't let me give in...

AMEN!!!

+Rory “RoarLord” More Thank you. The internet is a big place, isn't it?
HotaruZoku Incredibly so. A link between the minds of many
*****
The greatest gift of the internet might be that link.
So thanks

Here's hoping that that Bioware takes some notes from CDRP's Witcher series, as they managed to capture the magic of Baldur's Gate that was lost in the new millennium and beyond.

so in my opinion andromeda was great in its own sense it introduced new powers and allowed you to switch profiles in combat so you can be the ultimate soldier or a powerful biotic.

Why should ME fans hate you for that?

Thank you!
Cassie, thank you so soooo much for listening! It makes me so happy to know that it feels like a good addition to the games.
And your personal responses make things even better. Keep it up beautiful! Looking forward to more. Now if only we could get you Peter Hollens, AND Lindsey Stirling to do a collaboration I'd be ecstatic!!!!
This song actually made me play Mass Effect, the song really helps to get an emotional connection.
Love your music
I have a very true love for the world
Michael
As long as there are clever girls who appreciate games, the world is not doomed =)
MEA crushed my heart into embers. But we will reignite!
For the past week I've been listening to this song on a daily basis. And every time it chokes me and brings tears to my eyes (have to hide it from people around, they will not understand a grown-up man tearing over a videogame tribute. But anyway, what do they know...)
Malukah, you are the best, and your voice is just pure magic. My salutations!
I'd say anyone who hasn't cried over ME is a soulless husk
Shit... I feel you, man.
Holy cow this is incredible! I recently played mass effect and finished, had to be the best or one of the best gaming experiences I ever had. Amazing cover and tribute.
This is literally the best thing to happen in the history of forever. You're petty awesome malukah, keep doin watchu doin
OK I'm a grown ass man I can do this!
opens this song
cries loudly
Its even more sad when u remember Anderson last words......
This. Every Time.
played 5 hours of Andromeda, and stoped.
feel like cant play ME without Shepard's voice.
I miss you commander.
Mass Effect: Andromeda destroyed Mass Effect ...
A pity ...
@@krixpop I didn't play ME:A (and ME 3 to be honest) but wha bothers me is why it looks so bad. Mybe it's matter of vid quality or sth, but on gameplays it looks worser than 1st part of Shap's trilogy.
@@Petaurista13
ME:A
Is the really low quality of graphics (movement interaction etc) ;
is idiotic "alphabet comunity" propaganda ;
and true lack of game satisfaction !
And as Kidd Lau said: without Shepard's voice, is unplayable...
the team of sjw's that made ME:A was fired as it literally destroyed the Franchise with their idiocy
As for ME:3
- is a blast (imho) ; it was my first ME ; I bought it without knowing about ; played ME:3 two times in a row, then ordered ME1,2and3 edition !
Half a year I did just that: played ME on a loop
:D
ps: I miss a new (good) ME so much !!!
@@krixpop gotta give ME:A credit for its combat though, best of the series
@@gethcreator751 true , but (imho) mindlessly shooting at targets in an seemingly endless world is not my ME...
- for each their own, as it is said ...
I finished all 3 games, and this made me tear up, especially seeing all the characters who I lost over the course of the games.
Jonathan Chua Thank you for watching, Jonathan!
But for what it's worth - thank you.
veslar Poor Mordin :'( I am the very model of a scientist salarian...DX
veslar hey i was thinking the same thing about she should work for game developers on the musical coverage.
What a beautiful comment. Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
ME was one of the best sci-fi stories EVER told.
+altair91100 THE best.
+Discord Lexia Let me introduce you to Star Wars Knight Of The Old Republic.
Loïc van der Wielen I've heard of that... Is it any good for a non-fan? I'm not really into Star Wars all that much.
Made by Bioware, that should be an answer... ^^
More seriously, it was nearly a revolution for it's time.
By the Goddess, I'm starting a new Mass Effect 3 campaign, AGAIN!
Heart Liara mee too. I don't know how much I played this game. But its my favourite game....
Heart Liara reading "By the Goddess" in Liara's voice has just given me flashbacks of a Great Series and a minor case of Depression, cheers.
Good for you. It's been a year... Time to go again.
My Ps3: oh shit here we go again
@@leeeverett4507 you know what to do play again
back to get my life from THESE LYRICS, Malukah you really did something special here you BEAUTIFUL NERD!!
Hahahaha thank you so much!!! Inspired by the beautiful nerds at Bioware! Hahaha
IS MALUFENIX FAMOUS YET???? BECAUSE SHE SHOULD BE!! I haven't heard a voice that gave me chills like this in a long time! That is the difference between good and GREAT!
she is pretty famous :D
Sweet!! she deserves to be!!
She's in The Elder Scrolls Online, so at least one gaming company knows about her.
SwingDancer61 And Call of Duty, but that isn't a good game... :(
SammieGTA which COD is she in?
Listening to this after beating the Legendary Edition trilogy. It is great to listen to while reflecting on all the great moments I experienced.
+Landon Tokiwa "Would have liked to run tests on the sea shells."
Mass effect is not a game my friend.. it's like a life in another dimension. I have lived in that and so have you. Regards from a fellow Shepard! :)
Beautifully said. Brought a tear to my soul. Such fond memories.
I thought that there is no way ME2 can surpass it, and well you know what happened :)
ME3 by itself is not as good as the previous two games, but considering the journey to reach that point, it was beautifully done.
Did you record this? I want to hear this song in Ukranian!
Never mind, I found the cover. It sounds amazing, and it suits Ukraine so well right now. Slava Ukraini, slava geroyev.

it sounds very beautiful in our Ukrainian language.
Glory to the heroes 🇺🇦💪these words are sacred for us 🔥

Maybe not translated correctly. But it wasn't me who sang.
12 years later... goosebumps, still. amazing.
CHILLS.
Every damn time, so many chills and so many feels.
Shut up I'm not tearing up, i just have something in my eye :'(
Indeed. This is powerful.
Mathew Hine has it been raining on your face? or have you been cutting onions because you're making a lasagne...for one?
It's okay. Don't mind me. I can't tell, 'cause I'm sitting in the corner crying.
It's okay
Her interpretation is awesome. Especially if you've played the games and learned to know and like the characters, it has so much feeling in it. And I can absolutely relate to what you're saying.
you left my speechless and i have never been left speechless. awesome job. in a good way. you made me go back and play all the games again you are the best.
brendon livingston I'm glad you liked this song, Brendon. Thank you!
Malukah's the bomb dude check out her elder scrolls work! speechless is a good word..
malufenix You made me cry i miss him/her so much.... :(
l3uzzworthy you are right they are great
this song reminds of Mordins Death :'( :(
Mass effect is the best game i ever played.
Thank you, Malukah, for this masterpiece :'D
what about the trilogy?
Mass effect 2 was definitely the strongest game in the series in my opinion. Even despite all the collision glitches it will always be my favorite.
Humpahna they are in the works of making a Mass Effect movie, but I don't think you will see femShep because what I have heard is it will be based on the first Mass Effect timeline. (2016-2017 timeframe because the studio that's doing it is also doing uncharted and another video game into a movie first, even though they should do Mass Effect first)
"Thank you for watching" Thank YOU for bringing your voice to us.
I started a new ME 1-3 run today and the moment I heard the tune I had to think of this video. Still awesome after 10 years, thanks for this song
I showed this to my friend a few months back and we both just sat there pretending we weren’t holding back tears
