This actually isn’t true because the movies aren’t connected. Triton in the Hercules series and mythology is originally the son of Poseidon but that isn’t the case with this one.
@maleahjohn5055 I don't know the different accents well enough to judge, but I'll take your word for it. According to the TV show he was born off the coast of Jamaica and studied music in Trinidad. I didn't see the live action movie, so I don't know what he sounds like in that.
Memory is an amazing thing. You can go many years without hearing a song and when the music starts it all comes right back. Studies have been done with Alzheimer's patients who can't remember their own names but can sing along to songs from their youth. It's all how about how information is stored in our brains and how something acts as a trigger to bring those memories back to the service. Melody/harmony is stored in a different place from where words are stored so asking someone to recite lyrics without the music can be difficult but actually playing the music will do the trick. Anyway, I know you were just making a fun little comment :) but it's a topic I find quite interesting and did a bit of research on some years ago.

This was my absolute favorite movie as a kid, I wanted to be a mermaid so bad because I loved to swim and sing. Now, as an adult, you made it 100x better with the commentary! Made me laugh and enjoy it even more!
I know that a lot of people think that the deal is unfair; however, if you think about it, turning into a human likely requires a lot of power. Ariel's most valuable asset, as stated multiple times, is her voice. It is the logical payment for something like that. The impossibility comes from having to do it in only 3 days.
She would have such a hard time communicating since she would be without her voice - even if she had gotten true love first kiss from Eric - because she can apparently sign her name but can't write above waters. I feel like that was a plot hole. Should've been that she was forbidden to tell anyone in anyway about their deal which would've closed that part up.
Ariel's mother was Queen Athena. She was the wife of King Triton & the mother of Ariel and her six older sisters. She was the Queen of Atlantica and beloved by her family and subjects. Unfortunately, she died as a result of a run-in with a big pirate ship when Ariel was very young. A statue of her dancing with Triton is present in his courtyard.
I should've known since you were keeping the movie under wraps 4 non members it was The Little Mermaid! Ariel & Moana are my fave Disney Princesses! Can't wait to see you enjoy this one! I can't choose a fave song btw; Part Of Your World, Under The Sea, 💋 The 👧... All classic BOPS!

Melissa McCarthy is gonna be Ursula, which don’t get me wrong, I love Melissa McCarthy but Queen Latifah played Ursula in the live tv version and she was incredible like literally the only thing that made that shit show redeemable and I’ve been saying that Queen Latifah should be Ursula ever since I saw here as Mama Morton in Chicago
19:22 My name is Aliyah. It has a somewhat long story, but I'll condense it: I was given the name Myracle-Marie at birth, and I was adopted by someone else, my mom, when I was 5 months old. My mom contemplated giving me the name Ariel for a bit, but she named me Aliyah because my older cousin, Alillah (who was 3 at the time), was meant to have that name if he was a girl. My mom was living with Alillah and his mom, my Tia Iris, and Iris wanted me to have the name since she didn't have a girl yet.
Having just seen the live action, I came back to rewatch this! Personally, I thought it was pretty good overall and Halle’s voice is undeniably incredible
Billy! THE LITTLE MERMAID was the beginning of the late 80s thru 90s Disney Renaissance. It destroyed at the Box Office. And as I'm guessing others have pointed out, the woman who played the assistant to the main guy in ENCHANTED did the voice of Ariel (and the voice of Barbie in the TOY STORY movies). A great (and the only?) live action mermaid movie you may want to check out is SPLASH... also a Disney movie (thru Touchstone), starring Tom Hanks (before he became Oscar famous and was still doing mostly comedies), Daryl Hannah (the eye patched woman from Kill Bill), John Candy (Planes, Trains & Automobiles), and Eugene Levy (Schitt's Creek, American Pie).
I just wanted to say that I love your commentaries because they're what make me feel better when toxic atmospheres be sneakin and closing in on me. I appriciate you and respect that you also be wanting us to drink that H2O. 💓🙏
The Little Mermaid and Ariel have always been my favorite things that have come out of Disney, and it astonishes me to this day that there are people who aren't familiar with it.
#BINGERS I honestly think you should watch the little mermaid sequel. In that Ariels a mom and the movie is about her daughter. A lot of detractors say it’s just a rehash of the first but there are subtle differences. Especially with the age difference Melody is 12 Ariel is 16 here and it’s definitely more coming of age and figuring out ones identity so Melody feels a little more relatable. Ariel knows who she is she just wanted freedom and pursue her passions, Melody doesn’t fully know her identity she feels like part of her is missing and is trying to figure it out.
I think the only reason people might be upset about Ariel being black is that for the redheaded community Ariel’s one of the few redheaded female protagonists that they grew up with. This was a common statement when the Annie remake was made several years ago.
@@Sapphire_Reacts agreed. It’s the same for the movie Annie But it was something I heard from white redheads so I wouldn’t be surprised if that is the reason this time. When they explained it to me it was about redheads being popularly portrayed as “soulless” or overly hot headed which they are tired of. Annie and Ariel were atypical of that norm and they felt more of a connection.
@@E3WEINER Plus predominantly natural redheads are from Scandinavia, Scotland, Ireland or central Asia. Plus, it's tiring as an Irish descendant, that our history is practically the same, if not worse, but black people get passes we don't. If ever we try to say anything or try to point out the hypocrisy, WE are the bad guys, it's ridiculous and just spreads ignorance. THAT is what I have a problem with. Why take from other ethnicities when there are other ways?? Yall won't like it if it was the other way around
This movie happened to be one of my favorites as a kid and it still is. I failed with the whole try not to sing when part of your world came up. OMG, not the proud family shirt! Now that show is iconic!
I love to see a reaction to my favorite Disney Princess! For the record, seven siblings is a lot, but not crazy. My mom is one of six. Fun piece of trivia: Triton has seven daughters to represent the seven seas. Ariel is the Red Sea for her hair. Allegedly, Ariel's mom is the Dead Sea. RIP The "weird shot" of Ariel with the sun behind her explains why Eric doesn't immediately recognize her later when they meet and can't be sure she's the one who rescued him without hearing her voice. He couldn't see her properly and was woozy from having almost drowned. "Where the coast guard at?" That one got me.
So the sailors look like Popeye because Popeye was a sailor. Also in the original Hans Anderson Christoff story, when the little mermaid gets her legs, every step was filled with pain, like pins and needles or like a stabbing pain. There's a lot of differences, you should look up the original story
Not only that, but she does not get her prince and dies. Mermaids are almost immortal but when they die they become seafoam because they do not have a soul. But because she refused to kill the prince (the witch demands it for her to return to mermaid), she gets a soul and goes to heaven. The prince marries the girl he thinks he met on the beach, mistaken her for Ariel.
Here's a fun fact. If you pay attention, Ursula wasn't actually killed by implement. She was charging up the trident to fire a blast when she was stabbed. If you watch the trident, the blast rebounds onto her.
#bingers Ever after (I think you said it's in your list, just letting you know we're still anticipating it) hey I'm here waiting for that suprise mash up with the movie budz reactors
All the daughters are by the same mermaid. Their mother was killed accidentally by humans. The humans didn't realize what they'd done but ever since King triton has hated them
And whats more King Tritons seven daughters represent the seven seas. Ariel, obviously, is the Red Sea, Attina is the Bering Sea, Alana - Black Sea, Adella - Mediterranean Sea, Aquata - Coral Sea, Arista - White Sea, and Andrina is the Caribbean Sea.
there is actually a little mermaid that explains her childhood with her mother and why in the first introduction in 'little mermaid' Ariel singing is very important and praised by everyone that even her sisters sang for her. The title is 'The little mermaid: Ariel's beginning'
This was fun to watch you watch! I do gotta say I feel bad for any mute people who might watch this and hear your opinion on the datability of people who can’t speak
Another example is in Cinderella, the Prince is being pressured to merry someone by his father. Cinderella wasn't even thinking of the Prince when talking about the Ball, he was a bonus for her.
"Why don't you go tell my father? You're good at that!" Okay, as savage as that line was, this movie would have been a lot shorter if Sebastian had ACTUALLY told Triton that Ariel went to make a deal with the undersea devil.
All of the daughters have the same mom lol. Queen Athena. There's two more movies. The third one is where they talk about her and why Triton is like how he is. I definitely recommend it
in the Little Mermaid 3: Ariel's Beginning it explains that Triton's wife, Athena, was killed by a ship crashing into the rocks where the family would hang out together above the water. Ariel and her sisters were pretty young at the time, and Triton essentially had to raise seven daughters on his own as well as manage a kingdom, so you can see the kind of stress hes under and why he occasionally lashes out or misses key info about his daughters' lives, like the fact that Ariel was skipping rehearsals and adventuring around shipwrecks and collecting human things
Little Mermaid 3 Ariel’s Beginning includes her mother Queen Athena, beautiful mermaid. Triton and her named all their daughter with the letter A first like Athena. They had seven daughters to represent the seven seas. Also I believe in mermaids, but Atlantica may be a stretch lol I think Aquaman was Atlantis a sunken city rather than one made underwater like Atlantica.

This was my absolute favorite movie as a kid, I wanted to be a mermaid so bad because I loved to swim and sing. Now, as an adult, you made it 100x better with the commentary! Made me laugh and enjoy it even more!
#bingers Would love to see some more teen movies like
Cruel intentions
17 again
A Cinderella story (2004)
Freaky Friday (2003)
#Bingers I'm advocating for "A Cinderella Story" (2004) :D
17 again
17 again would be great!!! #bingers
#Bingers - The Emperor's New Groove! It is the FUNNIEST Disney movie! - Also, A Goofy Movie. 😍
The reason why Ariel’s mom is not in the movie is because Ariel’s mom got killed by pirates you see that and the third one
#bingers Ariel’s Beginning
It wasn’t kinda her mother’s own fault she passed but I don’t wanna give away what happened if he hasn’t seen it yet
Aquaman MAY be related to Ariel, but HERCULES is Ariel's cousin.
If we're going to connect Aquaman you have to connect wonder woman too. Daughter of Zeus
@@itazuranakisu I think that whole thing would've been easier if they used sign language, I know it already existed when the book was published (1837)
This is one of my favorite Disney Princess movies. Also R.I.P Samuel E. Wright, the voice of Sebastian the crab. Legends never die
I like Moana,Tiana,Anastasia and Pocahontas. Ariel is ok,i do know that she was modeled after Alyssa Milano from charmed so i guess that kinda counts.. @_@
You must like the ocean a lot lol
The 3rd leg & where it's always wetter snuck in there, LOVE that lmaooo
Yeah I be outta pocket forreal
Living here in Florida 🙋🏻♀️ currently waiting to see how tropical storm Elsa turns out. That girl really needs to let it go

Fern Gully: The Last Rainforest
Best character is Tone Loc as a singing lizard. Great story too. It has very "Save the Planet" vibes.
In the prequel “The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning” it reveals what happened to Ariel mother
Yeah it was sad 😔
Prequel it is revealed that Ariel is 15 years old.
I love that movie because you get to know all the sisters personalities!
You: "She's going to stare at that statue for a while."
King Triton: "I don't think so."
The actor who played Grim in this movie also played Roger in the animated 101 Dalmatians movie. The Little Mermaid was his last role before passing away.
He was also Herr Zeller in The Sound of Music.
@@ifeelpretty5790 He was also Rama who was Mowgli's wolf father in The Jungle Book.

Ever After: A Cinderella Story. It's my personal fave version of Cinderella and I never see others recommend it.
#bingers Black Knight. With Martin Lawrence. Let's shake things up a little, Billy. 7-5-2021
YES! I forgot about that movie! So good
Having just seen the live action, I came back to rewatch this! Personally, I thought it was pretty good overall and Halle’s voice is undeniably incredible
Ariels new beginning is a back story about what happened to their mom, It’s personally my fav Ariel movie :)
"I hope she has really good handwriting I really do" omg i almost spat out my drink 😂😂😂😂
The Little Mermaid is one of most iconic movies of Disney and films in general. He would ppl not know it?
“A gluten-free version”
Lmao
I spat what I was drinking man

I honestly think you should watch the little mermaid sequel.
This was a common statement when the Annie remake was made several years ago.
black ppl can have redhair - changing ariels race has no effect on her story, ariel could be blue and her story would still play out the same way.
RIP
The "weird shot" of Ariel with the sun behind her explains why Eric doesn't immediately recognize her later when they meet and can't be sure she's the one who rescued him without hearing her voice. He couldn't see her properly and was woozy from having almost drowned.
"Where the coast guard at?" That one got me.
Hi kitty
So the sailors look like Popeye because Popeye was a sailor. Also in the original Hans Anderson Christoff story, when the little mermaid gets her legs, every step was filled with pain, like pins and needles or like a stabbing pain. There's a lot of differences, you should look up the original story
Hans Christian Anderson, lol Christoff is from Frozen 😂
@@evabartlett4599 xD yeah that one, I get messed up because their names are based off of his
@@C0deB1u3 All good 😂
Not only that, but she does not get her prince and dies.
@@s.b.907 xD yeah I just didn't want to type every difference, that's why I suggested that people read the original
You should watch Ariel's Beginning, that gives you all the backstory about Ariel's mom
#Bingers you should react to Zootopia. I love it!
Omg yes, he'd love it
Agreed it's a wicked movie 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Yes! and right after he should watch the deleted scene about the collars.
YES
Here's a fun fact. If you pay attention, Ursula wasn't actually killed by implement. She was charging up the trident to fire a blast when she was stabbed. If you watch the trident, the blast rebounds onto her.
#bingers Ever after (I think you said it's in your list, just letting you know we're still anticipating it) hey I'm here waiting for that suprise mash up with the movie budz reactors
Love the Movie Budz!
@@blazebaby89 one of the movie budz live streams billy showed up and they said they were working on a project together!
“A classy Pepto-Bismol bottle” - 😂😂😂
All the daughters are by the same mermaid. Their mother was killed accidentally by humans. The humans didn't realize what they'd done but ever since King triton has hated them
And whats more King Tritons seven daughters represent the seven seas. Ariel, obviously, is the Red Sea, Attina is the Bering Sea, Alana - Black Sea, Adella - Mediterranean Sea, Aquata - Coral Sea, Arista - White Sea, and Andrina is the Caribbean Sea.
@@jayamilapersson4030 In the live action version, they’re all going to be different races to represent the seven oceans. Ariel is the Caribbean.
there is actually a little mermaid that explains her childhood with her mother and why in the first introduction in 'little mermaid' Ariel singing is very important and praised by everyone that even her sisters sang for her.
Fun Fact: This is the first movie I ever saw in a theater when it first came out. Yes, I that old! 😂🤦♀️
My first was Aladdin, but I was only 2 months old lol
My first was Mulan, I was two or three 😂
“Oh at first I thought he was talking in tongues, I was about to say go ahead let him use you”🤣🤣🤣🤣See this is why I subscribed, your funny ash😭
#bingers PLSSS DO PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN
"Why don't you go tell my father? You're good at that!"
Okay, as savage as that line was, this movie would have been a lot shorter if Sebastian had ACTUALLY told Triton that Ariel went to make a deal with the undersea devil.
there's also two more ariels and one of them is ariels beginning and it tells you about her mother.
All of the daughters have the same mom lol. Queen Athena. There's two more movies. The third one is where they talk about her and why Triton is like how he is. I definitely recommend it
This movie got a frigging mindfuck of a TV series; case in point: the third episode of season 3
in the Little Mermaid 3: Ariel's Beginning it explains that Triton's wife, Athena, was killed by a ship crashing into the rocks where the family would hang out together above the water.
Im going to need little mermaid 2 and the third installment ariel’s beginning please and thank you #bingers
I'm so happy you did the kissing diss for us lmfao, I was about to say! And that mic don't stop, so funny! Keep them coming!

Zootopia
Little Mermaid 3 Ariel’s Beginning includes her mother Queen Athena, beautiful mermaid. Triton and her named all their daughter with the letter A first like Athena. They had seven daughters to represent the seven seas. Also I believe in mermaids, but Atlantica may be a stretch lol I think Aquaman was Atlantis a sunken city rather than one made underwater like Atlantica.
#bingers Dodgeball: A true underdog story
This has one of my favorite lines ever, “If you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a ball”
Ursula going big and Ratigan running up the guts of that damn clock are THE scariest Disney moments lol
In actuality Ariel was probably like 16-17 years old and I think Eric like 19-20
Eric just turned 18 when we first see him
