as an old free diver i could say that you have an initial lung capacity at the start,fill that capacity with slow pace in 8 secs,not push your lungs too hard then hold 14sec,then in very slow pace exhale, but lung capacity and body get used to long inhales,hold and exhales by the time. so if you are new to this longer one,try first , shorter one 4-7-8 breath for a while then switch to this one. hope helps. this is for calming your nervous systems,taking back you from responsive state to calm state. A cardiologist also advised me to do this. 4-7-8 or 4-8 or 8-14-16 or 8-16

This is terrible. It just heightened the sh!t out of me
You need to gradually increase your co2 tolerance, otherwise panic will come :) (right amount of co2 is calming)
