I’ve been playing this game for years but always sucked and took long breaks, I’ve found a newfound love for building games and factory games and just designing my own builds and I’m getting back into the game, glad these tutorials exist now since even with a general understanding of the game from playing before there are a lot of smaller things I missed that just make everything easier, like making cannons actually hit their shots…

Im up at 400h of FTP and like you said, even 1000h aint much! I just learned that J faces the block the way you're aiming, i really do enjoy all of your videos and im learning so much. FTP just became so much more enjoyable!
I just bought the game today, built alongside this video and it's crazy familiar the game is, it's like a mix between TerraTech/SpaceEnginners and MachineCraft. I'm quite excited with what kind of flying mechs I can built and recreate my builds from other games.
Welcome to the channel, you might find it hard to get into but I made a tutorial for most things and are making new ones for the rest, got a playlist called instant tutorials, recommend it warmly!
Kept getting videos recommended to me and I haven’t played a sandbox in YEARS. This is right up my alley, so I’ll probably be buying tonight. I’m gonna binge this whole playlist 😅
Welcome to a game more complex than most sandbox games ever wamt to be, hope you either are on the spectra or have an engineering degree, preferably both you'll need it XD
@@GMODISM Ironically I’m peer reviewed on the former and engineering is going to be my major LOL. Building is very easy in Mouse mode and that is what I always use. The real issue with this game is getting AI and Control functions to work right. In the end, it will feel like you need a degree in ACB and AI behavior settings. Everything else is easy peasy with just a little practice. I recommend making a cheat sheet for your ACB settings and AI settings that WORK. Then GOD help you when you go to start using spinner blocks because the game sure wont LOL!!!
exactly i started very recently and it is ok. not smooth like crossout but no real issue. Real problem is part previews so bright and complicated when building. i can't see facing of part so many times. They could basically show faded version of the exact part, bu this shows a colored block with arrow.
I used to watch creators play this game, I guess they mostly skipped or sped up their building... This game is sooo much more complex than I even imagined.
I know this is kind of an old video at this point. But do you have a video that explains how the mag sizes work for APS? I always get this problem where the mags/barrel never line up and I'll have to scale it down to a seemingly random number so that the mags/barrel fit. Is it based on the size of the clips? 1x1 vs 1x2 ect?
i bought this recently and still building my hull (turned out a 50m long jetski btw :D). But everyone plays and talk about AI controlled weapons i don't know why. Is there no fire control system which we can control weapons from bridge?
Yes, there are multiple videos in my instant tutorial series I would recommend, the first video, and the manual control of weapons and craft, as well as the ai and detection tutorials. It works to control one craft yourself, but if you wanna bring backup or if you want aa guns to be automatically shooting and targeting you need ai.
@@joebob694 It's unnafected by instability, 90° detection has better sight than 360°. (and obviously trackers can't detect themselves). Just read the descriptions, different factors from propeller sound to radar profiles or thrust signature can affect detection range using detection. This is still too fast and you're skipping all about the connectors and you're going through the menus way to fast. You use fast keybindings shortcuts and the like. How the hell is a beginner supposed to follow along here? I tried the in-game "learn to play" and it could only help so much. I tried to go into adventure mode and I keep getting blasted before I even get my first gun working.
Sorry GMODISM but this introductory episode is too much all over the place. You assume we already know a lot of the basics so you gloss over most aspects of the mechanics while doing very unnecessary stuff. I think you did this episode off the top of your head instead of preparing in advance what you wanted to deal with. I liked how you started with menu options before diving into how to build a ship but you should have been more methodical and paced on what each option meant. Speaking of pace, you started relatively easy but you quickly picked your pro Depthian player speed back up so it soon became hard to follow what you were doing. For example, I also quickly realised how better it was to use the keyboard but you didn't mention the left click/right click thing when placing blocks which seems very important and basic to me. I like the way you explain things, so my suggestion to you is to do this episode all over again but *prepare in advance* what points you want to explain, starting with very basic stuff (no APS etc...) like camera, movement, placing blocks, and pace yourself keeping in mind you're explaining the game to noobs. Speaking of noobs, my advice to them is to do every single tutorial and guide in-game, more than once if necessary, so they can keep up with you and understand better how to control a ship, power it, equip it with guns, build cannons, have it controlled by an AI and so on.
That's valid, some people think that it possible to watch just one tutorial to get a hang of the game, this was my forst try for that. However I much recommend my instant tutorials instead where all parts are planned and very specific. We got basic stuff as the first episode there so check it out!
@@GMODISM See that's my point: you can't understand a game by watching a single tutorial, let alone a gale line FTD.. that's why you gotta take it easy and try to remember how intimidating it can be to us dimwits 😅 I'm sure some day you'll do it all over again since you're obviously a fan of the game and god knows how lacking tutorials are on youtube for ftd...
