If you don't mind losing some accuracy, you can "under-cool" plasma guns to save cost/energy. As it heats up, the heat sinks work more efficiently, eventually finding an equilibrium temperature.

DaddehWise, Do you enjoy making cheeky small craft? (Something small but armed to the teeth) like a PT boat? Would be interesting seeing you build a fast boat with a bunch of guns, mortars and torpedoes.
FTD does not like small craft due to how violently strong things like thrusters are and how syrupy the water and air is. They also lose out economically speaking.
Like a lot of things in FtD, it's not compulsory. But it's either that or learn how to make pretty good railguns, because all that heavy armor can be a real pain.
If you don't mind human wave tactics, a small airplane swarm with enough firepower to damage them can mostly handle their things, as long as they don't get hit too often.
is it just me that thinks its a little illogical to make it so its bad against subs? like most weapons are already bad against subs unless specifically made to shoot subs, why are we making subs stronger?
Looks like you just got the maths backwards on the RPM calculations. 66 charge / 2.8 charge/s isn't 23 rounds per minute - it's 23 seconds per round, lol. Really hope we end up getting ACB/bread controls to manage the plasma settings on the fly similar to particle cannons.
It would also be great to get lua for all the special stuff only ACB or breadboard can do. Wish each one was more like tears of capability vs complexity rather than filling diffrent niches like they do now. Makes creating intelligent AI hard when all the functionality and calculations are separated into diffrent components.
@@Mernom Yeah I have done that on a few things. Also works with ACBs as well. Sadly once complexity gets high enough you run out of channels. I was going to make a 6 legged walker with full inverse-kinematics calculations for the leg position and motion. Got decently far too but 1 too many workarounds killed it. Needing to turn the clamping feat on and off to get smooth motion was just asking too much.

If u want more damage go with Splitter and crank it to max. You still shoot 1 shot but get more damage bonus :)

Plasma seems really compact for the damage it can do, very scary and interesting.
They're so tiny it's great. You can strap like 4 on a small plane...
Or 40 on a broadsider.
@@trulers8713 Yeah but that would cost quite a bit.
@smitty4700 plasma is honestly less efficient damage wise than almost every other option, especially on armor. It's really fun tho soooo...

I do like building small craft! I should do it more often...

Should I learn plasma before taking on Gray Talons? I know they like their flying bricks

Yay. Plasma tutorial! I needed this.

It's a double edge sword - it also means subs can't use it.

Aw balls, you're right. I shouldn't have done math...
And yeah, ACB plasma controls would be pretty sweet.

@@nocareDefinitely.
~~also tiers, not tears~~
@@nocare Worse case, you can use lua to raise costume propulsion flags, which you can then use breadboards to translate into useful stuff.

First?
Techincally second, but honorary first, yes! 🎇🏆🎇
