I have begun to wonder if claiming "Not written down" is a valid strategy to get just that much more time to come up with a solution to Numbers Games. You *have* to have it by the time you're prompted to start detailing your solution, but it's not inconceivable that "after the music and before the prompt" could be the time in which the player actually figures out a path to the target. Joe's performance on 236 is probably the most extreme possible case of that idea.
