      The first thing about Lee Mack is that he is both highly intelligent and a super quick thinker, making him perfect for this sort of game. The second thing about Lee Mack is that he hides his abilities behind his "I'm a typical thick northerner" persona. Sue Dent was obviously taken in by that persona, and fair enough because he is after all (and this is the third thing about Lee Mack) a good actor. So if you haven't watched "Would I Lie to You?" as much as I have, how could you know about the first thing about Lee Mack? :)

      @@r8revolver773 Knowing words doesn't make you good at finding anagrams. I know almost every word they come up with but rarely find them myself. I'd be willing to bet money they have a computer do it - no human is that good.
      EDIT: I looked into it and it appears I would lose that bet. Someone who was on the show says in the real Countdown, Dictionary Corner is sometimes beaten by contestants, and that Susie doesn't usually come up with obscure words that an anagram finding program would often suggest. So maybe she does do it all on her own, which is pretty amazing if true.

      Really think that Sean is more professional than to ‘show’ any hatred to the unfunniest, talentless waste of space that goes by the name John dickadson. This feeble person needs to be removed from television completely! He has no idea of a comeback to any bantering!
      He should be working in a frozen fish finger packing warehouse, where I’m sure he would put the wrong number of fish fingers in each box!
      Sean Lock was an absolute legend, amazing stand up comedian and 💯 genuine talent. Sorely missed on Television.
      John Dickenson needs to move on and put his application form forward that frozen fish finger processing plant!
      RIP Sean ❤

      It started just as a one off for comic relief - comedians doing a funny version of a word game tv show on in the afternoons primarily watched by pensioners and uni students. Susie and Rachel are on both versions. Susie is viewed as a national treasure, she's been doing the regular show since her 20s.

    • @Yvolve
      @Yvolve Місяць тому

      @@jivekiwi You've seen half the premise. The other half is a maths game. They choose 5 sets of numbers. Big (25, 50, 75, 100 and on) and small (under 10). Rachel then presses a button that gives a random number. They have to get as close to that number, using the numbers on the board. They can only add/subtract and multiple/divide.
      Along with the letters game, that is the original format, which has been on for a long time and still is. As was mentioned, this started as a joke but was so popular, it was made into a series.
      If you enjoy this, I recommend checking out QI (about weird facts), Have I Got News For You (about the news, so some of it is quite specific but great banter), Nevermind the Buzzcocks (about music), Would I Lie to You (comedians tell stories, the other team needs to figure out if they're lying or not), The Big Fat Quiz (1,5 hours, 3 teams of 2, about a year/decade/everything) and the king of all gameshows: Taskmaster. 5 Comedians do tasks for points for a whole season. It is amazing.
