Despite the icky carpet and track lighting, this beauty still shines. It really is a lot of house, and it's great to see so many of the original features preserved. That old growth wood is no longer available; hope it has not been painted. I love the tower on the front with the fancy iron railing. Glad to know it is still being used.
I know this house intimately. I tried to buy it in 1993. My plan was to make it an urban B&B, but my financing fell through. The man who owned it bought it from a descendent of W H Jones in 1977. I've since learned that there's an identical house in rural Northern Ohio. The house sits on E Broad St in Columbus, Ohio, which, at the turn of the 20th century, was considered the finest avenue outside of New York city. There were/are some of the most magnificent mansions along the avenue. Sadly, many have been lost over the years, not the least of which was the Goodyear mansion. Believe it or not, the Jones mansion is one of the smaller houses on Broad St at only about 5,500s/f. There are/were houses, like the aforementioned Goodyear mansion, that exceed 15-20s/f. Thankfully, there is now a very active preservation movement to save what's left of the fabulous homes that are left.
This mansion is the best that i have seen. It is magnificent and has a warm feel . The colors are warm and the woodwork was beautiful. It is a grand mansion.
When saw Mansion, Wow, this is The Mansion, so massive. Yeah, added to the Nat'l. Register. So Proud to read.. Wonder if ceiling lights were recent, for they are modern,,
I'm in awe that it's still in such good shape! How beautiful! The wood work alone is astounding! Thank you UrbanEye, exceptionally good work on finding this beauty!
So nice to hear that this mansion is being repurposed and will be enjoyed by many more people. The woodwork is just stunning throughout the house. Great video!
My, my, my, what a magnificent grand old mansion! The detail in this place is stunning! This is my kind of mansion! Wonderful video as usual! 👍👍👍👍❤️❤️🤘🤘
urbanEye thanks for sharing this video with me about W H Jones Mansion 1889 Queen Anne this Mansion was very beautiful and i gave you a thumbs up and shared you out on my community tab my friend and God Bless.
A good place for a person wanting to learn craftmanship to study the work,i hope it stays available for that purpose, the value of it for that purpose alone is immeasurable.
My wife got a really good job making the kind of money her doctorate deserves, and I just kind of fell into a region director job making about the same (college dropout, hehehe). This is actually inside my price range now! I'm gonna go find one in Tennessee somewhere!
Beautiful Mansion from a bygone era, it is wonderful to see it has survived until now, hopefully for longer. Needs a bit of repair, but very good condition. We look to see it renewed!
What a beautiful house! The original wood, beautiful fireplaces, arched doorways, stained glass & pocket doors, I loved it! I was sad to see that somebody felt the need to add track lighting though😞. Part of the beauty of those old houses is the detail in everything. Chandeliers could be a stunning centerpiece in a room and to have them replaced with track lighting it just looked tacky to me.
The lighting is used to show art that is now on the walls as the building is now used for the arts in ohio. Thank you for watching and for your comments.
