  • We understand that the quality of our relationships and connections within our community leads to a more fulfilling life and promotes happiness. However, communicating authentically and genuinely aren’t necessarily traits we're born with or that come naturally. Charles Duhigg is here to show us how we can change the way we communicate, add more meaning to our relationships, and extend our lifespan.
Today, on the Dhru Purohit Show, Dhru sits down with author and writer Charles Duhigg to discuss how to become a supercommunicator. Charles shares the top traits that super communicators practice in conversations and how these practices can lead to deeper and more meaningful relationships. He also delves into the science behind how these traits can promote longevity and overall happiness. If you're seeking guidance on becoming a better communicator, even with people you fundamentally disagree with, this episode is for you!
Charles Duhigg is the author of The Power of Habit, about the science of habit formation in our lives, companies, and societies, and Smarter Faster Better, about the science of productivity.
He currently writes at The New Yorker Magazine, and until a few years ago, was a reporter at the New York Times. There, he wrote “The iEconomy,” which focused on Apple and won a Pulitzer prize for explanatory reporting in 2013.
In this episode, Dhru and Charles dive into:
-The top mistakes people make that prevent genuine connection
-Ask yourself, why am I choosing to speak?
    -Looping for understanding
    -Neuro Alignment during conversations
-Listening to learn about the other person
    -Acquiring the right tools
-Keywords and demeanor and what they signal
-Words or responses that show a communication disconnect
-Why you should want to be a supercommunicator
-Every conversation is a quiet negotiation
-How to connect with people who have different viewpoints
-Four rules of a meaningful conversation

I don’t like when he tells people about health choices. This is not the topic here.

There are so many Golden nuggets in this interview first I want to thank you very much.
I must agree I would not share the podcast. When he brings in Covid and other topics that are so touchy, he is still one-sided on the topic. And I don’t feel as if he should be sharing his opinion especially to the world. He has so many awesome things to share, but I definitely do not want to hear his opinion on Covid or persuasion on individuals to take medicine because it will make them better. It’s manipulation in my eyes. Great interview but I’m hoping Charles will slowly leave out things like Covid and doctors using a communication to sway someone to take a pill, potion, a shot, etc. If I would’ve listened to my doctor years ago, I would be very sick. She tried to convince me of something and I knew she was wrong. We have to stand up and fight for what we know is right so we need to be incredibly careful when it comes to the healthcare and what they’re doing to America.
I’ve listened to a tremendous amount of podcast that Charles is on and once again, he is a wealth of information let’s get back to experience conversation and all his amazing tips that he offers.

Great points made by the guest and Dhru regarding communication with people. There are so many poor communicators out there! Sadly, the "art of conversation" has been lost over the years.

Great conversation, however there is only one race, human. On the other hand there are many ethnicities, cultures and traditions.

Can I suggest staying on topic of the podcast? Charles is great in communication skills however we all, the listeners, I think didn’t need to be educated what health decisions to take. 🙏🏼
