Just borrowed this book from my library and started reading it! I was impressed with the Author's storytelling abilities so I think the book will be awesome!
Any chance you folks could pick a better thumbnail for the video? Or was that the best out of the three options UA-cam gave you? Just that it would look better on our page and I bet Charles might appreciate it too. Not a big deal, just a detail..
gilmar bomfim read the first one. Then this. It’s really not that connected, which is good because the individuality of the two books makes it more valuable as for the lessons he gave
Meh. "They're telling themselves a story." No they're not. There's no time for that. Training and experience kick in. And if you want to call that "telling myself a story" so that it fits your neatly packaged narrative designed to captivate the audience, then fine. This is what I hate about these pop psychologists/economists/etc like Duhigg and Malcolm Gladwell. They're kind of obnoxious in that way.
Haha you’re spot on mate - they’re the Johnny come latelys with their deconstructive bulldozers creating a big pile of psychobabble! As you say it’s all in the hours of training and decades of experience
I think the phrase "telling themselves a story" is a bit of a misnomer. I don't think Duhigg is wrong in that pilots and other professionals who do potentially dangerous things form pre-conceived notions or "models", but those models are based on a number of factors, none the least of which experience and training. What do I do if this happens? What do I do if this other thing happens? And so on and so forth. I don't think Duhigg is completely off the mark with his points, but I think he is somewhat mischaracterizing the process of managing a crisis. Crisis management basically boils down to dealing with the variables you can control, and forgetting about the ones you can't.
Duhigg is a great presenter, and he doesn't disappoint here. Not what I expected at the end, but very good!
I like Charles Duhigg, his works and books have given insights into fixing memory or forgetfulness in this smartphone age

I would like to know.
If is it better to read a book *HABIT* first, or can I read this first?.

책을 읽으면 두뇌가 빨라지는거 같음 ㅋㅋㅋ 미국에서 공부하면서 느꼈어 ㅋㅋ
I guess Charles Duhigg couldn't control his 🍪 habit. 🙄
