What did you think of her firing?
It was actually a stupid thing to do, because she made that show. I loved how sweet and kind she was to the kids.
Nonesense
Hated them cutting her!
Nothing. It’s happening all over in all types of jobs. Get real girl. Quit whining and live frugally as we all are doing.
Right Totally Shows The Narrow Minded Network Executive Mind Set. To Quote The Great Flintstones JL Gotrocks Episode "We Will Lose Our Cushy Jobs" LOL
MTV stopped being about music, AMC stopped being about movies, I guess it’s Food Network’s turn to stop being about food!
And the history channel cut out a lot of history.
The Learning Channel (TLC) has nothing but reality shows. I'm too busy living my own life, I'm not for watching someone else's.
HGTV stopped gardening.
I haven't seen any of those channels in at least 10 years because they all went the reality route. Is is still going on?
TLC stopped being about learning.
I am another person who no longer watches the food network. For some reason, the tv networks think that viewers will watch anything that they put out there. Guess what, they are WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish they were wrong, but apparently NOT
You're right and they are so so wrong!
once upon a time, the three big networks actually entertained us.....
The problem is…they’re not wrong. Surely you don’t think they prefer fewer viewers? The fact is, the competition shows get far higher viewership. I don’t get it (I’ve never watched even a full single competition show episode), but it is what it is. We, the public, can change that, by changing our viewing habits.
Dong blame big brother. Blame your selves, your neighbours, your family. Big brother is just delivering what they want.
that's why TechTV died when G4 took over. Then G4TV died.
At minimum, if Valerie started her own show on youtube, she would very quickly have millions of subs. I miss her so much.
Yes, I watch numerous people on UA-cam cooking. Brenda Gantt, Mama Sue, and there are others! Valerie, please get your own blog started!!!
She could start a channel where she just sits there. I would watch. She’s a smoke show.
@@jobethgraves7338yup and Paula Deen is really good
Omg. THANK YOU! I thought it was just me...missing ACTUAL COOKING on the Food Network, which I no longer watch. The competitions make a mockery of cooking and dining.
I'm glad I'm in good company! Forget the completions and gimmicks. Let's actually get some cooking skills going, and learn about new foods.
Yes, I hate those competitions
I stopped watching Food network because of all the cooking game shows. I hate them.
You don't learn anything from them.
Like History Channel started having pawn shop shows, hillbillies in the swamp shows....it all was ridiculous and not History!
Tv not the same anymore! 🙄
Like Discovery, naked and afraid, naked and alone..all the other disgusting shows. I hate television.
Quick cook!
LOL. If the chef needs another five minutes, fine with me.
Reminds me of when my son was in High School and they did a speed writing thing. LOL Crap.
Time for Ms. Bertinelli to start her own cooking UA-cam channel. No fancy camera angles & lighting required; just home cooking & pleasant company.
Touche' Right On She'd most likely do a better job too !
@@lauraspicks7114 Thats exactly what Paula did.
I would follow her!
Excellent idea! I would definitely watch it. 👍😊
Agreed!
One door closes, a window opens somewhere. Blessing in disguise. Bigger and better for Valerie coming soon. She is unstoppable -Watch!!!

I'm a 67 year old man
I've learned so much about cooking from people like you. My youngest daughter and I have made it a daily thing that we share/via text our recipes and cooking styles /stuff together.
Much of the enthusiasm comes from people like you when I are willing to share their ideas, methods and wisdom about cooking. Dint despair continue to to share and thank you
I now know why I quit watching Food Network a few years ago. I got tired of the competition shows.
Agree 100%.
Dang girls! I love those competitions!
@@tv-21 Sadly that is all they show!
dumbest shit ever. unwatchable crap.
EXACTLY
Reality TV shows have completely destroyed my favorite networks: food tv, history, discovery, and TLC...when you could actually learn something besides how stupid some people can be.
yep.. look how they ruined MTV too, where's the music? haha these networks are all a big JOKE now
They're cheap to make, why the huge influx of them.
The only thing on TV thats more 'fake' than REALITY TV is the liberal News Media.....
exactly right. this world needs less tension and drama, not more. i won't watch any of it anymore. actually won't watch any tv at all. its all woke crap, fake contrived drama and people trying to out-stupid each other.
I watch British tv. Imperfect teeth and no plastic faces. Just interesting shows
I do a lot of cooking myself, I go back to the days as a child watching Graham Kerr, The Galloping Gourmet. I never watch competitive cooking shows. Valerie got a raw deal after 14 seasons.
RERUNS OF THE FRENCH CHEF JULIA CHILD , COULD AGAIN PROVE RATING'S WORTHY
I watched The Galloping Gourmet and Julia Child when I was growing up. Wonderful TV!
Kerr was hilarious with the wine!
Time to return to watching PBS Saturday cooking shows.
Agree. I have not watched for awhile. I have found chef's and home cooks on you tube and now watch them.
*THANK YOU* to everyone who called out Food Network for replacing their actual cooking shows with competitions. I used to be an avid Food Network fan and would have their channel on all the time. I slowly stopped watching when the shows I loved & learned from so much were replaced with game shows that seemingly promote food waste. Seriously, fugg you Food Network. You once used to be great.
🎯
those muhfuggers....
Same problem with HGTV. Used to have instructional shows on it, now it's just house-flipping and "which house should they buy..." If you've watched one, you've watched them all.
That is why I watch cooking shows on Public Broadcasting
I don’t remember which net work owns the Cooking Channel. But as the bass channel went to more game shows, the cooking content went to this channel. However back in the days of “cable“, the Cooking Channel was always on a higher priced tier. I could not see paying $50 a month to watch one channel.thank you UA-cam and other sources of free cooking content.
Just like no music on MTV. No food on Food Network.
I think they're paying much lower salaries to the new hosts/cooks.
Yeah no more MTV video classics I love watching them .Food Network sucks now.
No history on the History channel. No gardening on HGTV for years and years. No art on A&E. And so on. Lowest common denominator tv more like.
I know, right? Wonder what's next? 🤔 What we DON'T need is another home remodelers show! How about more shows for us regular people?
Right, haven't watch the food network since they changed the format.
She isn't the first former Food Network personality who has said the network has way too many, "competition" shows. I agree. It's like regular network TV these days....Reality after reality. And there's nothing, "Real" about it! My wife is going to be sad she's not on the kids show any longer. Valerie and Duff were a good team. And you could tell the kids enjoyed her presence.
I can’t believe that the bosses of the network think people would rather watch a grown man yelling and throw a temper tantrum like a four-year-old. I may be dating myself a bit, but I remember when MTV actually used to play music videos, Woke world is nuts. I wish you all the best Valerie.☮️🇺🇸
Food competitions need to go away. Enough is enough
Especially “Chopped,” which uses absurd ingredients that almost nobody would use. Waste of time.
Agreed. Just show people how to cook recipes without all the manufactured drama!
What about the Great British Bakeoff ?
This is why I like America's Test Kitchen.
who will be the first to have 'cannabis test kitchen'?
Yet even they have 2 seasons of a competition type show (ATK: The Next Generation). Did not enjoy it at all.
@@zipper674 On Saturdays, I can watch Cooking Shows on a PBS Station from 1:00pm to 6pm. From ATK, Milk Street, Lydia, etc. I enjoy learning about new ideas.
I don’t like several of the chef’s personalities on Test Kitchen like Bridget and Julie.
Absolutely!
I stopped watching when they stopped having actual cooking shows. Miss the greats ,Ina, Paula, Rachel Mario and now Valerie; no thanks 🫤👎! I’ll be waiting for your own cooking show here on you tube. I would love it! Your so genuine and keep it real ❤❤❤❤
I have always thought a great deal of this wonderful and talented person! Will also support her!😊
I am SO tired of cooking competitions!! Get a clue Food Network! We are over Guy and his son and all of it!!!
Ain't that the truth! They ain't all that and bag of chips!
I was looking for the comment that called out Guy. Can’t stand him and everyone else. Bunch of pretentious loons, who think they know more than we do.

Couldn't agree more. I use to watch Food Network all the time, now almost never. Food Competition Sucks!!!
You are right…MANY OF US were CRAZY ADDICTED to all the WONDERFUL cooking shows, like Michael Smith, Nigella, Sunny, etc, etc, etc..I was ADDICTED…NOW…NOW IT SUCKS so much that I actually canceled the channel from my TV list!
👢
OMG I thought I was the only one sick of Guy, Bobby, et al...... in fact they should rename it the Guy Fieri network...I no longer watch....
Yes bring hands on cooking👍👏
Start your own show - you are great at what you do and loved by so many!

WELL SAID! COME VAL❤
IF SPENDING HER OWN FINANCES TO BRANCH OUT ON HER OWN IS WHAT'S NEEDED ? LIKELY SHE'LL RIDE OFF INTO THE SUNSET
They don’t want to pay anyone except Flay. It’s going to be nonstop competition shows and Flay being arrogant 24 hours a day. Valerie is relatable and exudes warmth. I hope she finds a new opportunity.
Bobby Flay is a douchebag
Flay going into home towns and breaking up friendships or at least hurting feelings of longtime customers/neighbors. Flay going up against chefs with smaller pockets. Flay Flay.
Flay? It's the the Guy Fieri channel now.
Guy Fieri makes all the money, not Bobby Flay. Guy ruined food network. It's all tattoos and nose rings. Nothing but weirdos and people screaming.
@@endiadjYeah, it’s become SO Guy Fieri HEAVY that it’s INTOLERABLE - it’s NOT the Food Network, it’s NOW the Guy Fieri Network!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬
Totally agree that I don't watch food network anymore! You go Valerie!
Yes!! I couldn't agree more. I used to love watching Food Network and was horribly disappointed with the shift in format.
Valerie sure received a raw deal from the Food Network. She was SO great with the kids on Kids Baking Championship - giving them honest feedback, while preserving their tender feelings. Shame on FN. I cannot feel respect for their decision.
SHE WAS PAID , THE NETWORK OWES HER NOTHING
Yes, Valerie made that show. I watched it because of her. She was so good with the kids. If she saw one of them getting frustrated and/or upset, she would go over and give them a pep talk. Doubt I’ll watch it now. I’m tired of competition shows.

I watch cooking shows to learn how to cook, I do not watch competitions. They are boring and you don’t learn anything.
I think competition cooking shows are fine, but just in moderation. It makes them more unique and special when you have just a few. When you have a ton of those types of shows then it gets repetitive and boring.
Yeah and you have to take your time when cooking. To think how much food goes to waste
Exactly!!
They are so contrived, fake time constraints, ridiculous ingredient restrictions. "Stand on one foot and hop while cooking" stupidity...
Totally agree that we are all done with the cooking competitions. My wife and I removed Food Network and HGTV because it's all about the competition and there is zero learning, how-to's, and actual cooking and/or house work being done. That's why UA-cam continues to explode in growth. We can attend 'UA-cam University' and learn whatever we want. I appreciated Valerie's show because of who she is and her skills in the kitchen.
Just about every minute is about competitions.
Years ago I watched all of the cooking shows and I learned so much.
The same can be said about HGTV. It is now a real estate buying channel. When was the last time they showed anything about gardening?
I gave up on the Food Network some time ago. It was my go to in programming. Smart, intelligent, funny cooks/chefs educating me how to be a better home cook. That is long gone. Frankly, I find much better content on UA-cam for cooking than I could ever hope to find now on The Food Network.
Yes all youtube now!
Same here!
You and me both!
To be a better cook I watch old Julia Childs show now
@@nyrockchicxx My brother-in-law does the same thing….. he also watches Jacques Pépin 😊
I absolutely agree. I remember when the Food Network used to be about learning recipes and cooking techniques. Now I never watch it.
I couldn’t agree more. My late wife and I loved watching the ITK shows. She still watched the competition shows, but they did nothing for me. I don’t remember the last time I watched Food Network.
I remember when the food channel was about cooking food
Good Eats was the best.
I miss those days
and when MTV actually played music videos....
I remember when HGTV actually covered gardening! I miss Erica Glasner… that’s how old I am!
I told my daughter that we don't need any more game shows.... People need to know how to cook!!!!!!! I miss all the COOKING shows!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree. In the beginning we learned so much. Have not watched for quite awhile because i can not find shows I have enjoyed.
YES!!!! I agree whole heartedly. I am tired of competition shows. I would like to have the cooking shows where you actually LEARN things. We've become better cooks because of it, but still have a lot to learn. Valerie is a doll, and I loved her shows, as well as some other chefs.
I, too, am sick, sick, sick of the competition shows. Because of them, I have not watched the channel in a couple of years! Bring back cooking, techniques of cooking, menus, etc.
I hope Valerie does her own thing and brings cooking back. She doesn’t need Food Network but as loved as she is by millions of fans FN is going to end up eating crow! They’ll need her. She has a beautiful grace and warmth to her that draws people to her. Love her ❤
she can join the programing of Create TV from PBS.
It was a business decision. If she was so wildly popular why would they replace her? Ratings were down and she's eligible for social security now and overweight. So you bring in someone who's young and nice to look at and ratings improve. I'm old too, I know what it's like to be ignored when once my opinion was sought after. It sucks but that's the way things are. That show, Kids Baking Championship, existed solely to make money for the Food Network, that's all. When it stopped doing that then things were changed.
@@donmiller2908 maybe just take a step back moron. it's not simply that they let her go, but how they did it that was the issue. she found out she was fired by the news, not her employer so just shut the hell up.

Valerie was a wonderful asset for Food Network; I haven’t watched the Network in awhile because it all about Guy and Bobby. Of all the competition shows, the kids were always my favorite and Valerie’s cooking show was so relaxing to watch.
We wish Valerie all the best. The direction The Food Network has taken is the wrong direction. We are all tired of the competition aspect.

Loved watching Justin Wilson!! I even bought one of his cookbooks. Good stuff in there. PBS had great shows on Saturday morning. Yan Can Cook, The Frugal Gourmet, Jacques Pépin and so many greats that I learned something from. Miss the Real Food shows
Loved watching Justin Wilson & hearing his accent!
Have we forgotten Julia Childs?
Graham Kerr was a big influence for me. Also Alton Brown whose shows I still watch as reruns.
A REAL "just about cooking" show with Ms. Bertinelli would be fabulous to watch!!
I love you Valerie we're at the same age I loved you so much on one day at a time so we grew up together you're an amazing woman and when one door shuts the other will open you rock❤
I didn't realize she had been fired, but it makes me sad. Valerie was one of the few bright spots left on the Food Network. I rarely watch Food Network anymore because it seems the only programming they have is cooking competitions. I enjoy a competition on occasion, but I really miss actual cooking shows. That was what drew me to Food Network many years ago. I learned so much from the cooking shows, it helped me become more confident with my own cooking.
the Guy Fieri network
Wish her the best. Have loved her smile for decades and she has such a sparkling, friendly personality. Good luck beautiful lady.
Good point👍🏼💕
Hate competition shows, boring, regurgitated content. We love you Valerie, pitch your own show. Good luck.
I watched the Food Network for years - the last several years I don't even remember the channel. Who decides viewers will like 5,000 hours watching Guy Fieri. Does nothing for me. I miss the real cooks who don't need gimmicks!!!!!
Thats why I watch Americas Test Kitchen and Milk Street and other cooking shows on PBS
They are the best! VB should get a show on PBS....
I loved the simple cooking shows. I came to this country knowing nothing about cooking and I’ve learned so much from such shows. Speaking for myself, competition food shows are boring. Bring back the good old cooking ❤❤
Valerie, Alton and the rest mentioned are awesome teaching and inspire cooking at home, with the encouragement of 'you can do this too.'.
Hoping they band together, for their is strength in numbers.
Valerie needs to do her own podcast and do it all her own way. She will have millions of subscribers and actual watchers from around the world in no time. She can do it.
I dropped cable a couple of years ago for this reason. The Syfy channel had absolutely nothing on , the travel channel became a paranormal channel, and food network was not the same.
I got rid of my satellite tv probably about 14 to 16 years ago. I had nothing but basic channels and 2 receiver boxes and DirecTV raised my price a couple of times in short progression and my satellite bill ended up over $100.
The few channels I liked to watch, Comedy Central and the Discovery Networks would play hours of infomercials of paid advertising earlier in the day and a ton of repeats, even on the same day.
Add to that this is when the networks and cable and satellite providers would argue over licensing renewal fees and then the networks would be off the air, sometimes for months.
I had just learned about streaming services and the Roku back then. I tried both for a week, loved it and loved how inexpensive they both were and sent DirecTV packing.
I will NEVER go back to Cable or Satellite ever again.
Something bigger and better is coming her way. ❤
I am all in for her bringing her own show!!!
I hate watching competitions. I started watching FN Because I love watching and learning food shows.

I'm one of those people who watched food network and very much enjoyed the shows that actually taught cooking. Now for the very reasons stated in this video I never watch anymore, I found a channel called recipe recently but I can't seem to get into the programs there. To paraphrase an ad from the '80's
"I want my Food Network " ! 😮
Grew up watching her on “one day at a time” and really came to enjoy her same skills and vibrant personality on tfn. Please land on another network VB!
I for one do not watch food channel any longer. Loved Valerie, Ina Garten, Pioner woman, Lydia. All tthe iconic cooking shows. Now we get game shows no thank you. Food Network, really missed craft shows on HGTV also but alas it's now aimed at people with mega bucks. Do rich people even watch tv?
Pioneer Woman made me vomit.🤮
HGTV use to be my Saturday afternoon go to for Green Street. Those were great gardening shows you could learn from. I stopped watching the network when it stopped airing actual gardening shows.
People are tired of all the star chefs, folks. The unique genuine and non-star type cooking channels on you tube do GREAT.
I learned a lot watching the chefs cooking in the past shows. Competion shows don’t teach anything but stress and grasping for money and fame.
I agree with you Valerie, everything is a stupid competition now a days. I used to enjoy watching the food network because of shows like yours and Ming Psai, just to mention a couple. You take your gift and have your own show, your terms and no one else's, I used to watch you back in the 70's and I loved you for sure. Good luck and you go get 'em.

SO sick of competition shows...and Guy...ugh...it is called Food Network after all!!!!! Bring back the cooking shows!!!
I can't change the channel fast enough when I hear Guy's obnoxious and loud voice. Plus he look like an idiot.
That is exactly right. Who the hell cares about a competition of who can win. I don't care. When I watch cooking shows, I want them to "show" me something I didn't know or a new style. There is too much "drama" in the world. I don't want it in my cooking.
I jumped the Food Network ship long ago. I cannot tolerate the cooking competitions so I found one outstanding chef on UA-cam. He is Chef Jean-Pierre. He's funny, he's classy, he's not keeping secrets. He shares his knowledge, expertise, and pure joy of cooking. The man can assemble food like a master, probably because he is one! His charm is his honesty. His cuisine is unmatched. Check out his channel. You won't need Food Network again. Food Network kinda went Hollywood and you know the rest.
I just get the feeling that Guy Fieri has “something” on someone at the Food Network. 😂 That guy is always on and to be honest, I’m tired of him. No offense, but there are so many great chefs out there I would love to learn from. They have made it all about competitions now.
