Munchies owner should be ashamed of himself and needed to realize that that much extract could have killed someone. That stuff is very potent, and you don't screw around with it. That guy should have been sued.

I remember the Munchies episode and all that was caught on camera too. They even caught the audio of the owner telling the cook to dump the sauce in
You do know this dude has never won an actual eating competition, he only has "beat" food challenges on the show. Look at other professional food eaters. This guy is also a pedophile.

@fletchbundy If I recall, and they've also talked about this in numerous other interviews, because this episode was covered a lot for how infamous it was, the director for this episode was new and didn't know he was allowed to interfere. The producers usually would set up obstacles anyway, and as far as he knew he was supposed to stay in the background. So I think I remember him saying that he thought it was just another thing they set up for the sake of the show until he found out that wasn't the case and the owner just went rogue.

Because they didn’t do anything wrong. Capsaicin (the oil in peppers that causes the reaction in your mouth) isn’t deadly and can’t actually hurt you unless you’ve got an allergy to nightshades or an undiagnosed aneurysm.
As a matter of fact, there are health Benefits to consuming it.
This fat douche reacted this way to it because he was on camera and wanted to seem cool to his fans. I wouldn’t have thought any less of him if he had just admitted that it was too hot for him. Ghost peppers hurt to eat if you’re not used to it.

I remember that Adam said that his favorite is the Snow Crab meal from certain episode that took him 15 minutes just to de-shell the crustacean. That was one of the episode where he can eat enjoyably with a smile.
The Kodiak Arrest challenge in Alaska. He really did enjoy the meal and one of the best.
1:38 Saw the wings and immediately thought "I bet they rigged it against him somehow" and sure enough, they did.
I'm surprised that the Carnivore Pizza Challenge from Big Pie in the Sky Pizzeria was not mentioned in this video. It was an epic fail when Drew (Adam Richman's eating partner in the challenge) vomited outside the restaurant, even though that moment was censored too.
Yeah that's no fib. There's a lot of restaurants out there that have food challenges that will pull some kind of bs to cheat. Many Speed Eaters will have a story or two about some Restaurants pulling stunts like that one. I never get why they do so either it makes no sense.
I loved watching the Man Vs Food show with Adam Richman. I was never aware until now that the restaurant cheated 😠, shame on them!

I enjoyed watching Adam in that show so much, but I am glad that he moved on. He has talked about what that show did to him. One thing that sticks out is him saying he ran stairs for 2 hours one day as just one of his workouts. And that was to maintain his heavy physique. He hated it. I think he only ate once a day too.
Wouldn't running make a person slim down?

That Steak challenge in Puerto Rico looked SO delicious, and I knew there was no way he could finish it. I could eat about 1/10 of that. He did well.
yikes, sugar sickness... man, I'm someone with a bit of a sweet tooth, but ever since getting a mild case of sugar sickness, I tend to police my desserts more, be it eating less than I want (more likely) or drinking some water more frequently. I can hardly imagine what all those shakes did to Richman at that moment, gave me goosebumps

When I see powdered extremely hot spice, I don't want to see the challenge. Use real peppers or simply don't do the challenge. Extremely hot powders are a cheat for the restaurant to win. Some of the very hot powdered wings, as well as other very hot powder covered foods, I've seen on these channels, are just awful. I think, if you are so determined to use a very hot powder, you should cover it with something like honey or butter, and cook it into the food. Extremely hot powdered challenges are the absolute pits. A self respecting restaurant would simply refuse to do them. Use real peppers first off or if you do use very hot powders, cook them in or simply don't use very hot powders.
Much respect to Adam and Casey. They always brought the entertainment, no matter what.

I feel like he saw my comment about the munchies cafe and that's how he found out because I was working there at the time and a long time after it happened I explained to him in a comment what they did. I can't think of anyone else who actually told him. I was pretty pissed they did that to him. Especially since if it wasn't for Adam that place would be closed by now.
It's really gross in that kitchen, it's been a long time since I worked there but I doubt anything changed.

If I remember correctly it wasn’t entirely munchies fault, a recent interview on hot ones I believe had Adam mention that he later found out that a relatively new producer was on set and goaded the chef into adding the unsafe amount of extract… I mean if I’m wrong correct me but I could swear I have vivid memories of this statement being said by Adam

I loved that show. And u know I didn't think about that poor dudes health at all during his challenges snd stuff. Hes just such a nice funny fun guy that thats all I thought. How fun!! Lol. And now seeing him after he's left the show and cleaned up and dropped weight and also shared a ton of horrors stories about his time on the show I feel so bad for the guy. I mean its in his past and he changed himself for the better BIG TIME! Last time I saw him he was giving an interview and I was shocked!! He looked like a freaking model! And that's so awesome. Ive never heard anyone speak ill of him. The opposite actually. Unfortunately after all these yrs later since Adam moved on from the show its now ME who desperately needs a total lifestyle overhaul. Cross ur fingers for me folks! Lol...everyone HAGD. Ty for the video. It was great

I went to the Sarasota Munchies for my B-Day a few weeks after all this happened. I saw that Adam's photo was already up on their wall of shame. I agree, he was totally set up. They should have been disqualified.
However, Munchies regular stuffed subs were insanely huge and delicious. Stoners everywhere!!

Been sick off oysters really bad and never went back. 3 days on my back blowing hard out both ends even after a single sip of water. Probably shoulda checked into the hospital but was too delicious to cope with taking care of myself. It was like being super sick off tequila times 100. Oysters are nasty.

You know he has tried some amazing foods everywhere he went, but eating that much food at a time is not good for anyone. These instances alone show how dangerous it was. Not even talking about the weight aspect, but the amount of work your body goes through to digest huge amounts of food when you’re already full is insane. Imagine how miserable you are after 2 plates at a time buffet lol.

Some of these challenge rules are just stupid. Finish eating all your food, then just sit there for an arbitrary amount of time? what the hell is that? If you ate all the food you won that's it.

Adam is such a beautiful human being.😢 I can't believe he was stupid enough to put up with this nonsense and humiliation for as long as he did before retiring. The producers of these shows are guilty of abuse. The mentality of these restrauntes and their patrons is obscene. No wonder the world is messed up.
But, how is he expected to know if he again didn’t know nothing till afterwards and, it sounded like the producers and the camera crew knew but, didn’t say nothing, it was up to them to say something to him instead of remaining silent, once he found out he should of went to that local Board of Health right after or the next day and, he also could of called the state himself or have producers make calls! There are many thinks there could of been done to shut places down like that and, yank their license to make sure they aren’t up and running another restaurant with unsafe practices! When, something like this happens at this point you have to do something to take some responsibility to make sure action is taken to not allow unsafe practices aren’t being harmed, if they are doing it to you, chances are they are doing it to every celebrity coming in there is having it done to them and, who knows what’s being served to the general public!
Just so you know, the muchies 420 was bought out by a new owner, what happened to adam will never happen again. Its sad that it happened and it ruined the image of munchies.
