I updated the title to add "in Tears of the Kingdom" (Prior title was "How much damage does every enemy deal?") I'm still experimenting with youtube stuff and wanted to see if having a vague title would improve it's traction any. My mindset was that youtube would recommend this video based on it's tags and the game category, people would see the thumbnail and know it's TOTK, then click based on the title. I personally don't like having "TOTK" or "Tears of the Kingdom" in titles based on me being overly-obsessed with making titles as original as humanly possible. It's something I need to work on since striking a balance of being descriptive and vague is hard. From what I can tell it doesn't really work with the current format I have, so being less vague is the way to go for now. It definitely CAN work as I've seen many other creators get away with it and some of you have likely noticed it as well. Just content creator things :))))))))))))))))) oki thanks for reading have a good one ♥
Gloom damage will do no damage as long as the hearts aren’t gloomed so you can be hit at 1 heart with no armour by a gloom enemy and as long as the heart isn’t gloomed even if it is empty it will get gloomed idk how to explain but basically just go to 1 heart and then without having the “dead” hearths gloomed get hit by a gloom enemies and it will just kill the “dead” hearts used a lot in my depth mostly run (went from chasms from the sky, upgraded battery, got fire res ect) for knights weapons.
5:55 Phantom ganon and ganondorf will actually kick you when they wield a gloom club if you stand really close to them. Probably their only non-weapon, non-projectile attack. This attack is present in WW and TP, also if Link stands too close (in WW, you must repeatedly make him hit your shield)
It reminds me of the Moblins kicking you. People say that the Lynels learned their down smash attack from Ganondorf, makes sense the Moblins learned to kick from Ganondorf
"They really nerfed the rain shot (for the lynels)" I used to be terrified of ranged combat with a lynel because of how absurdly powerful it was, now it's the easiest thing to avoid
11:40 in botw, they also use their fire breath when exactly equal to 50%, so it’s 50% or lower. I think it’s the same in TotK, just that the lack of health numbers make this difficult since you only are given an approximate percentage.
4:28, enemies stopping their combo if they hit link, Lynels' triple swipe attack (sword and shield varient) actually do stop their combo in BOTW, but in TOTK, they continue swiping it (total of 3 times) even though the next swipe after one of them hits Link won't deal damage because invulnerably frames. Probably because of the sages' vow mechanic.
I swear the lizalfos' 2 handed swipe is the best attack in the game. They just run at you at mach 3 and then throw a two handed weapon attack at you out of nowhere. It also has like no start up or ending lag.
Sees Gloink: You know, you could have asked for me consent before showing me somthing so completely and utterly disgusting. 3:47 Also, this moment was SO relatable. 13:49
I notice that it is more than just lynel bows can ignore Link’s invulnerability frames, one thing I tested was the beam emitters. By having them stacked and facing the same direction, and Link’s hitbox hits two at the same time, it will register as both hitting Link for 24 damage (12 damage each, assuming no armor). I have a feeling the i-frames goes into effect on the next frame, thus you can get hit multiple times in one frame.
I’ve actually seen armed Horriblins use the boulder throw from the ceiling, when they couldn’t reach me. Easy place to see this is the first area in the descent beneath Hyrule Castle, with the Black Horriblins, since the area is so oddly shaped
This is another incredible video from you. Tons of useful info and finally understood how Gloom damage works. Your spreadsheet will be super useful for my No Healing-All Dungeons run where I’ve now died 6 times and reset to the paraglider 😢 (streaming it on my channel). Keep up the awesome work!
5:30 You can damage yourself via recall and ultrahand, which also do 4 damage. If you simply use ultrahand, the object have a timer that disables damage on link, but this can be avoided via using recall or revealing a korok (a korok that appears if you pick up a lonely rock and that rock lands on you after a dialogue box, it may be an oversight that the no-collision-damage-timer runs even during dialogue box).
I can strike with a spear more than once comparing one-handed or two-handed weapons. So that 0.75 damage multiplier keeps spears in balance, or everyone would want spears.
Funny thing is that the easy to dodge 2-Handed Running Charge Slam Lynels do were much much more difficult to flurry rush in BotW. You practically needed to be frame perfect due to the larger and faster AOE, and I have successfully flurry rushed it only once in the previous game. I know it's probably easier in this game because Lynels now wield weaker decayed weapons, but still I would have liked them to keep their near impossible to dodge attack lol. Also side note but I'm not too much of a fan of enemies dealing far less damage in this game compared to the previous one, but I guess that's just how it is lol.
Tears of the Kingdom, one of two games I know where the strongest enemy type has less moves than its weaker variants. The other game being Breath of the Wild.
Wow. I almost never comment on videos, but this was incredibly relaxing and made me appreciate TotK even more than i already did! Thank you for all the time and effort you put into this game ❤❤
I remember 2-handed running charge slam always getting me in BOTW because after dodging it and getting into flurry rush the sword or crusher would connect with the ground, create the aoe and hit link while he was still in mid air.
for anyone testing damage, be careful that if you have very strong armor that results in 1-damage, that means your armor value is EnemyAttack-1 or higher, you’ll have MULTIPLE VALUES that also result in 1-damage. Also be careful if there’s an attack that can one shot you, that also means multiple values (in this case, HP less than or equal to output damage after subtracting by defense).
The reason the rounding is weird on the weapon multipliers is because it's not multiplying the damage, it's multiplying the number you see on the pause screen. The displayed damage of a spear is equal to it's actual damage x 1.333 (or 4/3), while the displayed damage of a two-handed sword is equal to its actual damage x 0.95. The spear calculation seems to round up while the sword calculation rounds down, presumably so that the displayed number is always at least 1 different from the actual number, though your guess is as good as mine as to why they'd do this.
I haven’t tested, but my current hypothesis is “no” Damaging shields usually requires you to bash the enemy, and enemies will only ever block with shields It WOULD be really cool if enemies like yiga blademasters could parry, since they’re the only ones I can think of that would reasonably have the skill to parry
@MiahTRT thank you for looking into it. Agreed that would be cool, i only see the blademaster carrying the windcleaver and I'd love to see them use an alt setup
1:58 I think there's a reason why the game have multipliers for spears and 2H weapons - When you have weapon A with weapon B fused to it and it deals the same amount of damage as the other way around (B as base, A as attachment), then the only difference is the attack animation, which affects how much damage you can do in a given amount of time. There would be no reason to have 2H as the base weapon since you attack slower, as each of the 3 types have different attack animations. If you sort the 3 types of weapons by increasing attack speed, it would be like this: 2H (slowest) - 1.05 1H (normal) - 1.00 Spear (fastest) - 0.75 Notice how as you have shorter time for animations, the multiplier gets smaller. That is the reason why some people are saying about the damage-per-second (although was stating that for spears).
The bokoblin throw is rare?? I was high up on a ship's lookout post and this one moblin with a pineapple looking horn kept throwing this bokoblin constantly. It was too high up so it never reached. But watching this one bokoblin falling down for 10 minutes was pretty funny.
This is gonna be some actual useful knowledge. Though, I don’t know how people are emulating TOTK, I haven’t really been able to find any emulators. (I have the actual game because I pre-ordered the collector’s edition before TOTK came out and then played it immediately as soon as it arrived on the first day of TOTK’s release, I avoided the internet for a full two weeks to dodge the spoilers.)
Saying that the Ice Wizrobe summons Ganon made me think of a Gloom Wizrobe which summons gloom hands and Phantom Ganon and that would probably be horrifying
Something about Captain Construct 1s: The ones on the Great Sky Island have Rusty Broadswords instead of Zonaite Swords, which, if I remember correctly, has 5 attack.
I struggled a lot with horiblins in the early game. They were quite good at overwhelming me and attacking my blind spots. It took me a minute to get used to ceiling bound monsters. Once I did they became a joke though.
if you mount a Lynel and let your stamina run out, also take its base damage, along with getting trampled. In BotW, it’s 1 damage for running out of stamina on its back.
holy HELL do you even put photos in your spreadsheets??? i’ve made me some spreadsheets before and. I just. 💀 putting aside how extensive your spreadsheet is, just copying and pasting the photos in them was probably so much work on its own, considering that there were so many, and all the photos were unique. serious respect for your dedication to researching these videos
When a Aerocuda as an enemy,he has a chance of throwing it on link. They will charge up the attack before throwing the monster at you doing an AOE on Impact. (I only saw this attack one time)
Most Boss Bokos spawn holding 2 handed weapons, Some spawn with One handed and there is one that spawns holding a Spear, it’s in Hebra and it’s holding a Feathered Spear (Which Does create the wind effect), there is none that spawn holding a Bow.
Explanation how gloom works with temporary hearts (yellow hearts after eating a cooked hearty meal): -If you have temporary hearts and you take gloom damage, regardless of how much gloom damage you take, all your temporary hearts will vanish and that's it, no gloom on the regular hearts. -If you have gloom damage, and you gain temporary hearts, it will work as normal. BUT if you recover from gloom in this state, any yellow hearts you have will be converted into red hearts up to the permanent maximum amount of hearts you have (so if you have 5 red hearts, 3 yellow hearts, and 2 gloom hearts and a permanent maximum of 7 hearts, and you recover from gloom fully, you'll have 7 red hearts and 1 yellow heart). I'd assume the game internally handles red and yellow hearts as a single number representing the total amount of health you have, so using the above example after Link fully recovers from gloom, it stores the value of 32 HP (current), out of 28, or 8 out of 7 hearts. Any hearts exceeding the max are yellow hearts. It's important to note that gloom recovery MERELY brings your max HP back up, but not recover your CURRENT amount of HP, this also explains why you have the same amount of current HP before and after gloom recovery: 5 red + 3 yellow = 8 hearts (32 HP) and so is 7 red + 1 yellow.
Welcome to: The Legend of Zelda: LGTAHKOOH On a more serious note: Your equation does work via Order of Operations but could also be written as ((Weapon Dmg x Type Mod) + Enemy Dmg) - Armor = Total Dmg
3:02 I have a feeling is because when you get a heart container, there is never a health increase that would increase your max HP by 1/4 of a heart, even when you have temporary hearts (yellow hearts), when that gets emptied by a quarter, it still displays that black empty part of the heart but you still cannot heal. I have a feeling that the game stores your max HP as N and limits the total number of quarter hearts by N*4 (so if you have 3 hearts, that is 3*4 = 12) it doesn't store 12 as your max HP, it stores the number 3, therefore the devs didn't programmed the game to handle fraction hearts as maximum.
Also, it would look really weird to see only a quarter of your health as Gloomed, and it encourages upgrading Health. Even if you have maxed armor and stamina, without HP upgrades, you're cleanly killed in 4 hits by every enemy.
lynel using their arrows remains unavoidable if you are close to him about a 5 meter radius unlike botw. Also they can even shoot backwards, also unlike botw.
7:20 Make me wonder if any enemy colliding into Link (enemies thrown into Link, and Lynel trample and getting knocked off while mounted on a Lynel when stamina runs out) is always base damage. They're both non-weapon damage.
Technically shown damage doesnt "have a multiplier" based on weapon types, they just fudge the numbers based on percieved DPS. Spears are faster so they bumped the numbers up in the menus, and the opposite for 2-handers
"Hope you know your order of operations" okay spreadsheet no need to judge me sheesh. Also I had no idea wizrobes had so many attacks. They don't live long enough to tell the tale.
A Silver Bokoblin having a base weapon damage of 59 is outright ridiculous when most of the weapons they hold are decayed and had their overall damage reduced. Having 60 armor rating in Breath of the Wild was enough to tank plenty of damage but in Tears of the Kingdom, Silver enemies can cut through 60 armor rating like tissue paper and deal several hearts worth of damage.
For the next Hyrule Science, can you focus on the weapon buffs do exactly? Because I don't know how durable a durable buff is, and I don't know how much farther a long throw weapon will go, etc. etc.
I updated the title to add "in Tears of the Kingdom" (Prior title was "How much damage does every enemy deal?")

Explanation how gloom works with temporary hearts (yellow hearts after eating a cooked hearty meal):
-If you have temporary hearts and you take gloom damage, regardless of how much gloom damage you take, all your temporary hearts will vanish and that's it, no gloom on the regular hearts.
-If you have gloom damage, and you gain temporary hearts, it will work as normal.

What about regular animals like wolf, bear, boar and moose?
I plan to also cover those in a future video
Perhaps in an “environmental damage” video, or simply just a part in the all bosses video
7:20 Make me wonder if any enemy colliding into Link (enemies thrown into Link, and Lynel trample and getting knocked off while mounted on a Lynel when stamina runs out) is always base damage. They're both non-weapon damage.
11:32, 12:24 and 12:31 are charge attacks that Link can mount at the end of their attack (they stop and slide for a bit)
To be fair, it's probably because of the reduced power of weapons.
For the next Hyrule Science, can you focus on the weapon buffs do exactly? Because I don't know how durable a durable buff is, and I don't know how much farther a long throw weapon will go, etc. etc.
The Earthquake Technique is actually called the Earthwake Technique lol
reading is difficult :p
@@MiahTRT lol I thought it was called the earthquake technique too when I was playing, I eventually saw it was earthwake
It's funny how common this mistake is. Same with spelling Hestu as Hetsu
What’s the highest damage an enemy can do in one attack?
theoretically pretty high considering that some enemies can pick up weapons
@@MiahTRT think it could be a video?
@@Sabagegahpotentially a one-off video, maybe
