Today we live in a pluralistic-multicultural world (at least here in the US) so the same way there are accomodations for gays and other groups, there has to be an accomodation to those who object to homosexuality.
The problem I see is that the Supreme Court ruled that a form of human behavior is considered a protected Civil Right, and that conflicts directly with religious believes, because like I said earlier they are a system if thought.
If you say that homosexuality is not a sin because sin cannot be verified, then you have to apply the same argument to homosexuality itself. If homosexual behaviour cannot be verified to be innate in a person, then it cannot be protected as a Civil Right. And this has not yet happened. That is why the push-back...
There is a gang in my town that goes around threatening people with terrible punishments if they don't join up with them.

Personally, I applaud her for standing up to the government over this subject. Why? Because she has the right to believe whatever she wants. However, her approach on taking that stand was incredibly wrong. What she should have done was to step down from her position and say, "I can't, in good faith, issue these gay marriage certificates," and let some other person take her position who would have no problem doing this.

The next evolutionary step in this topic is to stop getting married. People get married for the same reason people believe in religion, society conditions us to believe it is the normal thing to do. But the institution of marriage is superficial. People get married for emotional reasons rather than logical ones. Nothing really happens when you get married, you sign a legal document, perform a ceremony, then what? Nothing changes about either of you, even if you think it does. Whether you are straight or gay, if you love somebody, then you've had what you wanted all along. Just continue loving them. Marriage is a superficial custom in our society that refuses to die out. It's original purpose was basically make the woman the man's property. And it has evolved over the years, but not much for the better. It just surprises me that we are in the year 2015 and we are all still battling over things like this.

If she were denying a product to somebody as a private business owner, she would have the right to do so, but the fact of the matter is, she is a county clerk working for the state, whose rules she has to obey, period.
She is allowed to practice her own religion but she isn't allowed to force it on anyone else. That is the exact fucking opposite of religious freedom.

I never really saw the big deal with this. People are acting as if it's unheard of to disobey laws when someone disagrees with the law. It's funny cause everyone has some cause where they're willing to break laws for a belief but when someone breaks the law for a cause that they don't believe in then everyone starts bringing up the importance of upholding law. It's just interesting to me. The truth is, to this woman and to people who disagree with gay marriage, she was standing up for her beliefs. Like it or not, she did stand up for what she believed in and that alone is quite admirable. Plus, the law is the law right? So these gays ended up married anyways. And she ended up in a whole ordeal. No biggie.
