Jaime's resurrection, brief hello then leaving with John as his' prisoner'. Was the last few pages of Book 7. Then it was 3 or4 years before we found out what happened. William did recognize Jamie was his father( they look very much alike in the book) & didn't take it so well.
I thought I'd give the history of Claire's wedding rings its own comment. This is strictly the show because it was different in the books. Frank's ring is a simple gold band with an inscription "From F. to C. with love. Always." She wears that on her left hand. Jamie's original ring was a simple band made from the silver of the key to Lallybroch, as you remembered. She wore that ring on her right hand all the way through their twenty-year separation until Stephen Bonnet stole it from her throat when she tried to swallow her rings. Jamie had Murtagh make Claire a new ring out of silver from candlesticks that belonged to his mother that Aunt Jocasta had returned to him. That ring was a much fancier thistle band with an inscription in French quoting a latin poem "Da mi basia mille." "Give me a thousand kisses." Then Brianna came through the stones, encountered Stephen Bonnet, and offered to buy the original ring back from him. He raped her and gave her the ring. She returned it to her mother, and we honestly haven't seen that ring since, except in a couple flashbacks of her and Brianna in the 1960s. (There was also that episode in which Jamie put up the rings as collateral for Jamie's poker game with Wylie. When Jamie won the game, he put them back on Claire's fingers and swore never to take them off again.) Now, it seems John gave her a lovely gold floral band that she briefly wore on the right hand on top of Jamie's ring. I assume she gives it back now that their marriage is invalid.
Rob doesn't know who he's dealing with! Bree can take care of herself.😂 In the books when l was reading the Claire/Lord John scene, l kept yelling NO! So glad the show didn't show more of their "togetherness." I knew it was coming & the show WAS going there. My couldn't take seeing it. Reading it was enough for me. I loved the look on Claires face at the end. Like "OH, this time l'm glad Jamie is in trouble & l'm here for it!" I think William isn't to happy. Lol
When they thought Claire's wedding ring was lost, Jamie had Murtagh make a new one for her from his mother's silver candle holder. John's ring is gold .
Bonnet happened to the key ring. It lost its charm when it was "won" back through grape . (The new ring from Jamie is closer to the ring described in the book and it never change)
I have been waiting for this episode for YEARS. I was so bummed when season 7 was split in half and then when it took a year and a half for it to finally come out because I was waiting for "I will not mourn him alone tonight" and William finally finding out the truth. It's a relatively short section in the book, but it was SUCH an interesting dynamic that Claire was building a relationship with both Lord John and William independent of Jamie. William started calling her "Mother Claire." There was a sweet reunion scene in the book between Lord John and William after the Battle of Saratoga. They hadn't seen each other in a couple years, and William had been through some serious crap, so they lost all decorum and embraced in pure joy right in the middle of the street. It was my favorite John/William moment in the books. I was sad it wasn't in in 7x09. But the scene in this episode in which William is expressing his concerns over John's happiness, with the subtext that Jamie is the reason Lord John HAS William, the source of his happiness, followed by that tender hug, comes pretty close. John and Claire's very exposing conversation included time travel in the book. Claire asked if he believed what Brianna had told him a few years earlier. He said he did not, but he would act as if he did, gentleman that he is. For the rest of their short marriage, Claire told him bits and pieces about the future, including about the Battle of Yorktown, so that when it gets to that point, he'll know she's telling the truth. She didn't tell him in the show, so maybe he won't find out in the show at all. I don't think Jamie is the deer. I think the deer is anyone that John can connect with on a human level for a brief time before they go their separate ways. (And he did have other lovers in the spin-off books. Some more serious than others.) Sometimes the deer is Jamie. Sometimes it's Manoke. This time it was Claire. His life as a homosexual in this time period is extremely lonely, so he's had to find contentment in these brief moments of connection. His relationships with his family are the only lasting relationships in his life, so I certainly don't blame him for wanting protect his nephew from the consequences of acting on love that is illegal. I'm glad you realized Captain Richardson is a snake. He already nearly killed William on a spy mission, threatened to arrest Claire, and now he's trying to cozy up to her. Whatever his endgame is (it's honestly still up in the air even at the end of book 9), it's not in the best interest of Claire or ANYONE she cares about.
In regards to captain Richardson is he’s much like the Duke of sandringum playing both side against the center. He can sense where the tides are heading and will do anything to have himself spared. He saw Claire and knew she was a solid bet.
Love your reactions. If you want to know about Roger's father, that is not in the main books, read the short story by Diana Gabaldon called "A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows" It was really good, but I would not read it until after all the parts concerning Roger's father have aired.
Thank you so much for your reaction it really was priceless and so much fun ,especially when jamie came through the door . I always enjoy your reactions. Thanks again till next week.😊❤
I wait for your reaction and I laugh till I cry when you see where this is going , I know they have had to rush and the show did not do a good job showing the time passing but it is several months that Claire is married to John and she gets close to William he calls her Mother Claire in the books .
Once again it was so much fun watching this episode with you. Your reactions are the best!! I can't wait to see what is coming when Jamie learns that Claire is married to Lord John. Oh Christ!!!!!
I enjoy season 7 also much better. This pacing is just WOW 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤ big question now in my head: how will Roger find out that is son never travelled through the stones? 😮 drink because it is morning and i have advent tea calender it is christmas blend, very tasteful. 😊 love your reactions ❤❤❤❤
Claire Elizabeth Beauchamp Randall Fraser Grey. Claire once told Bree that Jamie was the "breath in my lungs". She can't breathe. Oh, she spends THIS marriage drunk. So much of the scene between Ian and Rachel is straight out of the book. When you're talking about Jerry MacKenzie, I keep saying, "Um...um...um..." NO SPOILERS. (sorry.) William knows almost nothing about Claire and Jamie. That was by design because, in the books, he's a 2nd Jamie except for his hair-color (which has hints of red in it in the sunlight). They know if William ever got a good look at Jamie, he'd figure it out. The scene of Claire with the scalpel is right out of the book. She was absolutely lost without Jamie. "Whatcha doing, punkin?" Something stupid. It's OK, he lives to regret it. John met Manoke when he was in Canada during the French and Indian War. They've "known" each other for a while. Breanna...can help HERSELF. Truth. And now our lass is going to find Jemmy. Claire's friend in the 60s was Joe Abernathy, descended from slaves that Geillis kept in Jamaica where she was Mistress Abernathy. Peggy Chew (the girl flirting with William) was a real person, FYI. Her family were secret rebels during this time. Peggy Shippen, Benedict Arnold's wife, used her as one of her unkowing go-betweens to get information to John Andre, who was also convicted of spying for the British.

Willie tore UP that house on his way out! And, yeah, the wait to find out what happened was horrible.
Claire's worried face that turns into a grin at the end was so good. She's such a good actress.
He he he he. You said "Maybe you too should talk to each other, help each other out". Boy did they!
Very true to the book.
Claire’s speech of a new nation reminded me of Eliza Hamilton carrying on Alexander’s work after his death. I thought it was a fun parallel

The inscription is IN Latin. No French

Have you never read the books? If not you really really should tho they are bricks. They are fabulous.

Anna, How did you get permission to show so many clips of the episode that just aired??
I try really hard to edit them just so.
