Man it’s hard tho. In high school I was part of a deeply divided locker room mostly because them white boys was racist. We fought at practice almost every day, the coaches was taking sides and shit, and as you can imagine, we didn’t achieve our potential as a team. We were a preseason pick to win the state championship and we lost in the 3rd round after a horrible week of practice
Agreed but this was Miami in 06 who had issues at the time. This was the same year they had the brawl with FIU as well. A lil late to the party, however I had the pleasure of meeting Bryan following his sophomore year at Miami while I was in Miami for an NCAA Alumni Ass. Meeting( I too Played D1 college football though not at The U). He was a gentleman and very affable, articulate and extremely comfortable around older NCAA/business executives. Of the dozen or so Players that I met, some from Florida State, Bryan stood out with his personality. His mother did an amazing job and it's heartbreaking that she basically had her heart ripped out with his murder. Also, your comments regarding what seems important today will not even be relevant in 5 years, 3 years or even 1 year is so incredibly important and it is THE key point of three that I tried to impress on the athletes that I spoke to. You should repeat that every chance you get cuz it's soooooo true and hopefully, if just one of your viewers take your words to heart, or one of your viewers repeats your words to someone in their life who is thinking about committing a massive negative life altering and potentially permanent mistake based on senseless impulsive TEMPORARY feelings, then you will have really built an incredible legacy beyond your superb sports content!! There was a good interview that Dan Le Batard did with two reporters from Sports Illustrated that really highlighted how incompetent the police were. The SI reporters basically had to force the police to work the case.
First off I love your commentary you tell good commentary. It puts a person right there in the action. This particular story I heard it twice from you channel and It's really awful that a person can be jealous of the other person success. This is an amazing video. I spent my adult life in Broward County and i remember when Haitians had started coming over to Florida from political persecution, and hurricanes that destroyed the island completely. Really rough...Haitian people are hardcore, but you don't mess with them they tend to not mess with you. Its sad that Bryan had to go through this.....sounds like jealousy plain and simple. Miami is a dangerous place. Very sad.
DAMN!!! I always appreciate your ability to find the lesson in every story. Still, this is truly a sad story that should not have went the way that it did. No matter how angry or screwed up it may seem at the moment, a person's life is more valuable than whatever has you angry or upset.
This video was all around a complete masterpiece. Great story telling, respectful to everyone involved, amazing editing and music. You are something Flem
Man... I remember this Era. Pata was good in HS and was about to change his family financially forever. This is why kids should have been paid in college from the start of the NCAA. Miami in particular, where kids grow up fast would have benefitted tremendously if their players at the time would have been able to focus on school and football.
@LTNetjak I agree to an extent. The NCAA makes many millions, maybe billions; some of that needs to pass along to those who make it happen. Otherwise, I say, peace out, NCAA!
@LTNetjak This is why players are paid for their Name, Image and Likeness. That is not a salary... this is the market determining what a player's value is... That is called free-enterprise... The NCAA bound player's to contracts which made them slaves... they even owned their images and likeness. For example... how many ppl bought a #23 jersey over the past 30 years??? Now the players can make their own jerseys and compete against their own school. Once again... Free Enterprise...
They're getting paid. Scholarship, free housing and food. College is a huge cost. The Ncaa shouldn't pay these player's. If they do. Then the players should pay for the college tuition to attend the Schools.
What's wild this is that Bryan never seemed to be in trouble even though he was threatened multiple times by different dudes. You just know if he made it he woulda took care of his family. If Jones did do it I hope he burns in hell. Thanks FlemLo for another well research story, you are a total freak bro 💯💯💯💯
Such a sad story never heard of it before and you did an amazing job makings us feel like we were apart of it from beginning to the end in 39 minutes wow. That was a lot of enemies this young man had. I wish he had a good mentor bc maybe some of this would have ended or transferred him to another team. My son was offered a full ride to Miami and I would never even go on the visits. I did allow the coaches to visit our home and simply said your University is dream come true and your football team is amazing. My son is too green to be in Miami bc trouble is easy to find and hard to get out of.

This is such a weird situation. Teammates should always be on each other’s side, they shouldn’t have to worry about stuff like this, especially if they’re college athletes
I feel as Larry Coker who was the coach at the time should've stepped in and squashed it and got them boys together, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case now two guys have their lives taken away in different aspects for nothing.

Beautiful opening, Flem. Reminds me of how Wind River also starts with the murdered girl’s poem from creative writing class. Gives a better sense of who he was as a person outside of football.
Bro, Wind River is a damn good movie, I just don't like that fucked up part with the girl but the ending was justified. I shouldn't have watched that damn movie tripping
Me to in Indiana that movie was great I think I seen it like two years ago
Continued Success Brotha👊

First off I love your commentary you tell good commentary. It puts a person right there in the action. This particular story I heard it twice from you channel and It's really awful that a person can be jealous of the other person success. Yeah at first when I found him I thought he’d be like sports center. But this is something different.
Man... I remember this Era. Pata was good in HS and was about to change his family financially forever.
This is why kids should have been paid in college from the start of the NCAA. Miami in particular, where kids grow up fast would have benefitted tremendously if their players at the time would have been able to focus on school and football.
@LTNetjak but the college's won't pay too much
@LTNetjak I agree to an extent.
@LTNetjak I don’t understand that when the NCAA takes in billions.
You have the best channel ive come across! Direct, factual, and hella interesting.

Some 27’s I can up with. Miami played the next game after Bryan’s death and they lost 14-13. April 27th was the day before the ‘07 NFL draft which is the one Bryan would’ve been taken in
U think like me
@@dannyhall3768 i feel like 27 was maybe just a significant number in his life and it has the most energy for him to speak through
theres no coincidences .. in numerology the words "ritual=27" & "miami=27"
also from his birth-date til his death date is a span of 22 years, 2 months, and *27* days
8/12/1984-11/7/2006
simplify the date 11-7 (11> {1+1=2}) another 2-7
he wore #95 and his birth-date adds up to 95 (8+1+2+84=95)
his last name Pata = 38/11/70
the words "death=38" and "murder=38"
and the numbers 11/70 correlate with his death date being 11/7
not to mention the alleged killer wore #38
