As a Titans fan, I'm glad you're shedding light on this. I hated the way the Titans treated Steve and eventually VY. Steve was my favorite player growing up, and he doesn't get enough credit for what he's produced on the field. Even Derrick Mason, who put up solid numbers, doesn't get talked about much. We have a bad habit of mistreating our star players.

In my opinion, the man should be in the HoF. If they put him in, his rushing numbers would be the second best in there and his passing was definitely in the mix. He was a Super Bowl starter and an MVP winner in different years. There are valid arguments against him being there, but I just don't understand why they'd keep him out.

I just had to pull up and comment about the 09 and 10 season . Mann as a big Titans fan that 09 season with the expectations after the 08 season was very high. that 0-6 start was depressing . Collins lost his arm and alot of injuries was stacked up on defense of key starters. When Vince took over after the 0-6 start , My bro and I did not miss a single game . That was some of the most exciting football . He really showed he matured as the backup in the Bills and San Fran game making key plays to get just ahead where the defense was finally able to make a stop. which opened up the offense more in the 4th. When week 11 came (Tennessee now 4-0 ) The entire squad was now healthy on MNF against the Texans. That was Vince's best overall performance. He was doing great both in the pocket, extending the play and trick plays lateralling to chris Johnson when he scrambles. That game was an exciting nail biter to just edge Houston . The next game was for the history books with Arizona. There were quite abit of mistakes made by both sides . Vince accidently running the clock out well in field goal range before the 2nd half. The big play by Britt that resulted in a fumble. But that all set up the insane 99 yard walkoff touchdown. I remember that 4th and goal to this day. Watching the game on a potato live stream , my bro and i were going crazy. I think after all those 4th down conversions and that tipped ball where Bo scaife who was not the intended receiver caught on the run at pretty much his full speed. It was destiny Tennessee would win this game. The colts game Tennesse had a great chance of winning. Some mistakes were made i believe a missed 4th down conversion in Colts territory played a huge role when they should have just kicked the field goal. That win there Tennesse would have made it to the playoffs . Because the charger were just too hot after that colts loss , Titans were not going to win. It was either beat the colts and win every game except to the chargers and earn playoffs . or lose to the colts and win out to earn a position.
the 2010 season started amazing . Though i believe they should have beaten the stealers. Chris johnsons 50+ yard td in the 2nd half got called back. which would have put Tennessee in the lead. The denver game was very winnable , just alot of questionable play calling constantly putting in Javon Ringer wasting downs. (They were trying to replicate 08's smash n dash but Javon aint no liquored up White) . So really Titans should have been 7-0 coming into week 8 before the mess that would insue. Young got lost in the sauce , divided up the lockeroom and messed up what would have been a playoff bound season. I still believe Jeff Fisher should have stayed with the team. He would have most certainly brought Tennessee to the playoffs that next season. Mike made several questionable mistakes which led to them relying on the Jets to beat the dolphins in the final week of the season to make the playoffs. Who would have known that Sanchez would ish the bed and Jason Taylor the now dolphin would get his retirement victory setting up a key interception.

FlemLo, thank you for doing this video and making it a two-parter. Man, I had no idea about Young's relationship with McNair. I knew the Titans messed up with VY, but after this, it's hard to see it as anything other than a manufactured tragedy.

Flem, good job breaking up the story into 30 min chunks. Longer videos are a bit hard to find time to watch and maybe if one of the 2+ hits a new audience you can have them find the other videos and get a new fan. You're my favorite player documenatarian.

As a KState fan I remember the first time ever seeing him play, it was against us in 2003 when I was 10 years old…I remember never seeing a player who was that towering but had such effortless speed and arm strength. I could tell I was watching someone special even that young. I followed his career after that game and if you told me that he didn’t become a HOF player 20 years later I would’ve thought you were TRIPPIN. I hope he can keep elevating in life 🙏🏿

Great stuff Flem! New sub btw, the algorithm has gifted me your channel haha I was not aware of the relationship between SM and VY, being as tight as they were! As an Eagles fan, I thought the idiot Titans shipping AJ Brown to us was that franchise's worst mistake ever... But how they did SM SO dirty!? It was a fairytale situation, to let his mentor teach him how to be a successful NFL qb and his evental replacement, Dude, that's a next level FAIL, what could have been!

Vince Young is the best college football quarterback to ever come out of University of Texas. Although, he hated playing for Jeff Fisher and the Titans.🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

Man. I moved to austin texas when i was 17 in 2004. I remember hanging with friends, watching the longhorns (thats when i truly became a longhorn fan. I used to catch the OU vs. Texas game every year and id root for Texas, but i wasnt a huge fan until i moved to austin). I remember when they won the national championship. It was crazy! Vince Young is still welcome anywhere in austin he wants lol. I thought he was going to do huge things in the nfl, especially after that amazing rookie campaign. Hes always been the biggest what if in my opinion. Hes still a legend in Texas though!

I am a diehard fan of the Alabama football team, and I consider the 2018 national championship game against UGA to be the second-best game after the USC and Texas games. As a young fan, that game captivated me, and I doubt any other game can surpass it.

I wish you could understand how big of a deal his senior year in high school was. Especially their Round 3 win over North Shore. North Shore was unbeaten, ranked #1 in the state, and boasted a team that had close to 20 D-1 commits. They were a juggernaut. The week before they met, my high school team went down to North Shore. North Shore was just an impressive team top to bottom. In week 10, their last regular season game, North Shore went into a battle of the unbeatens against Baytown Lee high, who's prized QB Drew Tate was shattering passing records on his way to a D-1 career at Iowa. Both teams were 9-0 and top 10 in the state. North Shore beat them 77-35. And 3 weeks later Madison went blow for blow with them, and VY even went in on defense to play safety so his secondary could get a breather. It was THE BIGGEST high school game I'd ever seen that exceeded the hype.
VY was already a big name, he was royalty in Houston. But that game made national news for his credentials. He blew up.
I wish you could do some research into that game. It wasn't just a great game for him. It was a STAMP. It was THE game of the year.

I'm just now starting the video but i have to say that Vince is a guy I always bring up as a player that the NFL failed. I'm a massive OU fan, so maybe that adds some weight to me saying how incredible he truly was. He was RG3 before RG3... Vince was an incredible talent that unfortunately dealt with mental health issues before therapy among men was as accepted as it is today, it still has along ways to go. I honestly put a lot of the blame on Jeff Fisher and the Titans organization. I think he could have had a long and very productive career if he actually received the help and patience that he needed.
