I can't tell you how happy I am that he got cleared of those charges. Those guys should have never been there. At the very least, they were there to jump him. We have seen countless people die from "just" being hit a few times. If they weren't there for trouble, why did they bring guns and jump him? No sympathy for would-be killers, and I'm happy justice was served twice to them and then to Travis Rudolph. Then, this is also a big precedence case for self-defense for citizens. If this had been a cop, no one would have questioned them in this situation like you said. Since it was just a normal guy, though, people were mad. Because of this case, hopefully more innocent people trying to protect themself and others can be saved from prosecutors who don't care for the actual people involved that just want another notch on their belt.
His legal battle may be over but those scars are going to remain. Mental and career wise. You touched on this at the end and it was perfect. Every late night knock will have him wondering if someone's come for revenge. Even with him being cleared, teams may still not want a guy with those stories on their team even though he acted lawfully. Could this have been avoided by him not opening the door? Maybe. What really could have avoided this though was armed would-be killers *not* showing up to his door like hitmen. If they're never there that night, they're perfectly fine.

I think you covered this very well. Your synopsis on what COULD'VE happened vs what actually happened was very straightforward. There was MULTIPLE times Travis could have let shots off and didn't. He even came to the door with it on him and decided at the last moment to try to talk it out. As far as the MUTT who started this she was caught lying on the stand MULTIPLE times, was very aggressive with the prosecutor and really didn't care what happened to anybody. It is her who should be behind bars and why nothing is happening to her is beyond me
