What is wrong with people lol. There's no excuse to sending something like this. Makes for good content but if a regular buyer was buying this, there's no excuse for this.
I buy and restore vintage toys. Probably half the stuff I buy has zero packing material or bubble wrap. Some people charge $10+ for shipping yet only send it in a padded envelope with stamps on it. Crazy since when I sell I send USPS ground advantage and it's usually under $7 in a box.
@@alpha2turboYeah, people are super lazy with packaging materials...I used to sell victorian era glassware on ebay, and in the 8 years I sold on there I only had one piece get broken...Everything I ship gets packed super well, I don't care what it is...I normally bubble wrap and double box with paper in-between if its glass...
I don't know if you are in America but let me tell you about vinted in the UK. I ordered a ps2 phat and the sender sent me my parcel in a plastic bag no box or packaging. It goes without saying the ps2 arrived destroyed
Same however its pretty simple for me......if the shipping is more expensive than what a courier charges the its a simple no and i buy from someone more 'honest'. High shipping used to be a way of scamming more money from the buyer especially in the case of a refund, but today this shouldnt be allowed ( and seeing a $90 shipping would have alerted me to a probable scammer). We live and learn.
Some EBAY sellers (probably scalpers who cannot sell their stock now) are selling new PS5's with high shipping costs. The seller lists a PS5 for $300.00 brand new then charges $150.00 shipping hoping someone does not read the listing. Clicks Buy It Now (as EBAY policy you are now responsible to purchase that item). I believe that is still how the policy is.
@@xphiles2345You haven't been able to do that on Ebay for a long time...They charge your final value fee on the total amount you collect incuding the shipping fee, and it's been that way for quite a while...If you see a low price with a crazy high shipping cost, it's probably a scam 90% of the time...
20:46 Was fixing my very badly damaged membrane keyboard (Razer Arctosa) when I got an idea to make a photo of all conductive traces and draw above each of them a line (with distinct color), that would let me track when it all ends and to disable/enable their visibility (via layers in PS/Krita). Saved a lot of my time and nerves during multi-meter testing. Not sure if it would be any good for this motherboard, but for electronics with lots of very small and long conductive lines, imo, its a must. PS: Thank you for the great content!
Seeing old equipment get fixed gives me certain joy even just as an observer, must be fun for the one doing the repairs. I've seen a lot of your videos, you seem not at best of health lately, I hope you get well and keep repairing stuff. Good luck, sir.
I sold a PS4 kind of like this on marketplace one time. $10 total, I accidentally burned the board a little while trying to replace the HDMI with an amazon heatshrink gun. but at least I put it all back together.. and included all but one screw. it fell on my floor and I didn't find it till after I sent the PS4. I got a 5-star review for it!
i love these videos lol. the more messed up it is the more entertaining it is to see you pull off a miracle 🤣 im convinced you could fix anything with enough time and parts lol.
as an Ebay seller myself, this video just hurt... I would be appalled to put my name to both the packaging and the overall condition of product. Seems like a total scam to me. And $90 shipping/handling???? Yikes!
This is very obviously a game system that someone's significant other stomped. It happens pretty often, somebody stomps the system, then they try to resell it to make money. I love your channel, just don't let someone sell you this garbage. Bless you for trying to fix it.
I don't understand how some of these ebay sellers can sleep at night. Blatant lying about what went on with the board, that packaging was just pathetic, and then the rip off postage cost. Good on you for trying to fix it.
If you paid 50 bucks total for it that would be one thing, but 90 for shipping? Thats straight up a scam, seller paid 25 at most for that shipping. I hope you got your money back on that one.
As someone who resells things on Ebay from time to time, this package hurt me. I understand the price was very low, but come on. This doesn't even meet the bare minimum of effort.
Question. Upon seeing the odd components from different parts of the board that were totally missing, the first conclusion my head jumped to was that maybe this was a donor system. Steve, after going through this, did thay thought ever come to you as well? Just wondering, my soldering techniques have gotten better after watching your videos. Flux is my new best friend!
This wasn't packed in the box. The guy who had this was trying to fix it and gave up. Then he just dropped the parts into the box and considered throwing it away. But ended up selling it, thinking noone would bother trying to get the money back afterwards.
LOL "Objectively I was ripped off" like its beyond a shadow of a doubt, there is no subjectivity that you were ripped off 😂 I've had my fair share of ripoffs on eBay as a buyer, thats why i cant buy from anyone less than a turquoise star anymore, too risky. I could only imagine how much worse it is for Steve since he has to buy a bulk of consoles for his business taking s much higher risk of being ripped off
Look at it this way: it is way more than $40 worth of spare parts. Just the ports by themselves at probably $50. For $40 I don’t think Steve realistically expected a fully functioning system. Edit: with $90 in shipping, it’s no longer a good deal.
If the liquid metal(gallium) leaked then it's toast you can't resell it. The gallium will eat out traces, solder, and metal making it a ticking return time bomb.
spends 40 bucks, makes a video that gets way more money than paid for, and then returns it and gets 40 bucks back, AMAZING business model. hehe keep it up I love the videos
I don't understand one thing... seller listed the product as Used, not Asis for parts? Would have been legitimate (other than shipping packaging) as a parts machine.
They could have at LEAST shoved some old newspapers or grocery bags in there for shipping or SOMETHING. And they didn't even close the sandwich bag! What the actual hell?! I hope you reported them, because if this was listed as anything other than "junk parts" they were a LIAR.
What EBay should do is have an AUTHENTICITY GUARANTEE if you don’t package 📦 it right lol they will send it back to the seller like when your buying sneakers lol HORRIBLE BOX 📦
Can’t believe he paid $130.00 for that Junk, it will take more work and parts to fix it, than it would to buy a brand new PS5, that seller should be reported and a picture of his ad and what he sent should be sent to EBay.
If they even let you. I've had three scummy interactions on eBay recently and they only let me leave a positive review. In one case there wasn't even another tab and in two cases the neutral and negative tabs were grayed out.

this should be cost $5 for parts 😂😂,
Just the disc drive might be Worth that. So everything else it's free.

What I always learn from ebay is never buy anything that the shipping price is higher than the product. I never had luck anytime I did that.

Yeah same here!!! It's definitely something to avoid. It gives off scammer vibes as well like why can't you just be honest with your price?

they used to make shipping higher to avoid seller fees.

Don't worry about the holes in the packaging. Those are speed holes. They're a little known secret. Saves on shipping costs and gets it there faster.
😂 thats a good point 👌🏻😅
Yeah I remember when people used to do it to cars!

The seller was hoping that eBay would let them keep the $90 shipping, but it don't work that way anymore.
Great video. This is happening really often and it is important that someone is showing it. Great job as always
That person should be banned from selling on EBay.

My friend’s dad used to say, “That looks like a can of smashed a$$holes.” This would apply to the contents of this package.
To spend so much time even though u knew it wasn’t 100% fixable shows how much love you put into it to bring it back that’s really nice 😊
I lost it when you pulled out the empty sandwiche bag hahaha
I don't understand how some of these ebay sellers can sleep at night. Blatant lying about what went on with the board, that packaging was just pathetic, and then the rip off postage cost. Good on you for trying to fix it.

It wasn't really that cheap considering he paid a $90 shipping fee!
@@brucepreston3927 Very true. $90 shipping fee is insane. And definitely a scam in itself.
I’m surprised that it even came in a box.
Oh well for the package. But I’m glad to see that you’re looking much healthier. Hope all is well and stays well with ya
I am no expert, but I think the warranty sticker may have been damaged prior to shipping.
You did the right thing reporting it to eBay.
Hope ur doing OK Steve will miss ur videos if u leave yt I learn alot from the fixers like ur self joey and my mate vince
YOUR video's are GREAT - always enjoy seeing what the outcome is - and since you didn't lose your shirt - it's a good ending.
Man the hdmi port repair looks way better then the manufacturer good job Steve
Where is the Shell and the stuff that goes to the PS five? I hope it does have hope to fix it. You’re the best Steve.
Thank you for the content, Steve!

Poor packaging is an immediate sign of a poor seller.
Sometimes it can mean a NEW seller that's just getting started. In this case, though, it's definitely just a BAD seller.
the effort you did is more worth than fixing the PS5 itself because it's so educational
This wasn't packed in the box. The guy who had this was trying to fix it and gave up. Then he just dropped the parts into the box and considered throwing it away. But ended up selling it, thinking noone would bother trying to get the money back afterwards.
$40 would have been the first red flag for me.
This is probably the most painful unboxing to watch. That poor PS5.
Thx for your honesty.

Can't fix em all but it was a valiant effort!
great content. did you get your money back?

If you fix it this is what I like to see Salvage repairs!
If the liquid metal(gallium) leaked then it's toast you can't resell it. The gallium will eat out traces, solder, and metal making it a ticking return time bomb.
They want you to reassemble that thing like it’s a Lego pack 😂
You got your eyebrows back. I'm happy for you. I thought I had seen this video already
It looks like at the 12:57 spot of the video the cap on the right side of the one your replacing is messed up also
It almost seems like the seller used this MOBO for parts to fix another system and sold this "donor" board without notifying the buyer about it.
That was a 25 bucks shipping. Assuming he is a regular seller. Other ways about 45. But not 90
I bet that board you got was someone else's doner board.
There is a reson. they call it evilbay.
I thought you already posted this video before
spends 40 bucks, makes a video that gets way more money than paid for, and then returns it and gets 40 bucks back, AMAZING business model. hehe keep it up I love the videos
If it knock parts off just put them back on its like your thing ❤😂
Oh man! All that work for no reward!
This looks like something HDS would deliver....via Ace Ventura.
Im just seeing this video that board looks like its a parts board with all those chips missing.
I don't understand one thing... seller listed the product as Used, not Asis for parts? Would have been legitimate (other than shipping packaging) as a parts machine.
So maybe this board should have been the donor board?
You are still a wizard
I'd be interested in seeing the listing before starting the unboxing. 😂
Good idea! I'll see if I can do that in a future video
@TronicsFixLongs I was thinking it would build suspense for the viewers 😅
What... happened to this thing? It apparently wasn't just damaged on shipping since it always had issues. Was it hit by a car? Baseball bat?
Unbelievable condition to receive anything in. At least put it back together or include lots of packing peanuts 😢
how do you know what to replace the components
with?
The holes in the box are so the roaches don't suffocate.

Ripped off but the parts that are ok can be sold for more than $40 so I don’t get why they would bother scamming
90$ shipping? I would expect custom packaging.
Looks like the seller shipped the main board and used the other parts as the padding material 😂
did you send this PS% to the decoder ?
only reason i dont want a PS5. Liquid Metal. i cant repair a ps5 because of that. im just an amateur game boy with a little screw knowledge.
Oh my goodness, how was it described? this is so low to do.
The seller has to know they will never be selling on eBay again. What a travesty!
Make a complaint to eBay that type of sellers is not good for the business
Great video man!! i glad your looking better also! God Bless
Starts up???????
Nice try Steve, u need to get yourselves into reballing so you can beat these consoles.
How can I ship anything like that? That’s insane to me
MY GOD!!!!! What kind of person would pack something that BAD and think that's acceptable. Terrible Terrible!!
Hey, I have an xbox Mountain Dew edition in working condition. I would love to sell you. Maybe you can make a video on it.
That would be great! Here's where you can submit electronics to be on future videos: tronicsfix.com/pages/viewer-electronics-repair-submissions
9:05 the disappointment in your voice man
Nice Doner for 40 bucks 😀
if anyone is ever scammed and the seller is from texas. i will personally get your money back at no cost!!
For $40 it's still cheap if just for the parts. That $90 dollar shipping though...
$90 in shipping+$40 sales price. With taxes, that's $150...and everything... literally every single part was broken.
My question is how 🤔
Can’t believe he paid $130.00 for that Junk, it will take more work and parts to fix it, than it would to buy a brand new PS5, that seller should be reported and a picture of his ad and what he sent should be sent to EBay.
Ikea PS5, not sure if its in America but its a build your own furniture place 😂
losing my mind over the seller saying it actually started up
Situations like this it's almost better if they didn't send anything at all.
$40
That’s not enough to convince me
Definitely ripped off with shipping charges
That wasn't so much as a broken PS5 as it was a BreakUp PS5. Somebody did their gf wrong and she tossed it out a 4th story window. 🤪
Now that you mention it...that does seem the most likely scenario apart from scraps from a repair shop. 😂🤣😂
With all the parts that were missing in this PS5 this could be a likely scenario, haha
Electronic Surgeon
Big man its just $40 bro the parts worth more chill
This is like a kinder surprise. But waaaayyyy more bad
It is a DIY PS5?
Another ebay scammer. A Great Attempt! Great video too. Thank You.
Negative feedback time.

scummy ebay sellers.....
90$. Wow.
WiFi-cables 🤔
Disgusting package, that`s not a "seller", it`s either heavily mentally challenged person or a scammer.
Why sendin things like that
