    The first 3ds you fixed, where you showed those different, very tiny ribbon cable connectors, are exactly what I broke on my wifes new 3ds when I attempted to replace her busted screen. I managed to successfully get the new screen put back in, and had the whole thing reassembled. But it wouldn't power on. I opened it back up, and that was when those tiny pieces began to just fall right off. I don't have the tools, or skills to fix that small of pieces unfortunately.

    The worst part about #5 is now you don't know if the parts you replaced before the motherboard swap are fine or not (wifi card, lower screen).

    • @darylsonnier658
      @darylsonnier658 19 днів тому +5

      Yeah, would take a lot of independent testing of components to know that. And probably not much video use for it. Unless people want to see him testing parts for 20 minutes.

    I just finished replacing the screen of a 3ds xl like 20 minutes. Nice coincidence. It was a nightmarish repair tho, those hinges do not mess around.

      Yeah my first time was repairing 2 displays of the 'new' 3ds xl variants. I hated those hinges more then anything and finally figuring out the hinge pin was a piss off aswell

    The fun fact about the popping noise in number 5 is that its usually a screen connection issue, caused by either bad ribbon socket connections or a damaged ribbon cable. It can also be other things but more often than not its related to that.

    15:50 so impressed! My hands have always been waaaayyyy too shaky to do anything like this.
    I used to paint and build model cars and planes as a kid. I would get so frustrated trying to steady my hands to glue on the tiny parts. Not sure if that’s even a thing kids know about that hobby these days since they used to be common to have in the toy section of dept stores and I haven’t seen them outside hobby shops for YEARS.

    • @sahamal_savu
      @sahamal_savu 19 днів тому

      I would have to say no, most kids don't bother with building models these days. It's much more of a niche hobbyist thing. Most kids are more interested in Fortnite, Minecraft, Tik Tok...that sort of stuff lol
      I can imagine the frustration trying to build models with unsteady hands. I built a few simple ones when I was a kid. Played more with lego sets though 😃

    Well done on persevering and getting it fixed in the end though! Looking forward to part 2!

    Honestly my favorite thing to do is to watch these 3ds repair videos, I also do like the detailed ps4/ps5 xbox one/x series s/x videos. But nothing is better then watching you repair these 3ds systems.
    Also on the white model you repaired, the only thing you did to fix that one was to reseat that 1 ribbon cable. Does anyone know what cable that's for? Cause I've noticed that if it isn't seated correctly it causes the system to take a little bit to boot up then it makes a popping sound and shuts off. That's why I had to reseat when I took apart my new 3ds xl and it turned on instantly

    Maybe what’s wrong with number 5 is that it has “magic” installed, but a really old version of “magic”, previous versions required to have the files for the “magic” on the sd card to turn on, you can try downloading the “magic” files even if they’re new, it’s supposed to turn on if it detects the files and update them if they’re a new version, it’s something I have encountered a lot since the close of the eshop

    From 2:50-3:00
    If theres anything i learned about repairs / fragile things, when it comes to ribbon cables like that and im not certain wether a connector pops up or not, i usually just put a certain ammount of force and if it bends before snapping then i take the idea that maybe this just pulls out, but this is also why i thuroughly research all over before commiting to expensive repairs, which is why im here 😁

    As a small repair business owner I agree 200%.As i live and work in a relatively poor country,(Greece),good news is that many people bother to seek repairs even for cheap devices, like crappy old laptops, or 100 euro tv sets.Keeps our lights on but still it's not a profession to become rich...
