I like the reviewer Gregor Fris. He has a great style and very informative. He has a rockin' accent and isn't afraid to just let it roll at the end. I was laughing out loud at his flub and "oh well who cares ending". Nicely done Gregor. Beautiful bass too.
Great review & nice bass. One negative that wasn’t mentioned is that the balance on the lap while sitting without a strap is very poor. The bass has A LOT of neck dive while sitting unless you play it between your legs like Hadrian does. This was a deal breaker for me.
I wish he had played more pocket-oriented, thumpy low end lines on the sound demo rather than the chords and intense slapping that he was doing (which sounded great btw). I wanna hear a bass actual sound like a bass!
@@businessofrhythm2315 sheesh didn't expect anyone to find the time to dig up this old comment I made from 2 years ago, Lol. If you read my comment, I said I wish he had played more, the keyword here being; More. Never said he didn't play anything that was low-end and pocket grooved, just that I wished he demonstrated more basslines like that like he did briefly at 6:02 ; Reading is fundamental my dude, certainly in the world of bass playing at least ;) Cheers
@@matthewgales3057 I didnt realize it was old but why are your worrying about what someone said to a comment of yours from 2 years ago? You didnt change or anything? Just stayed the same old same old simple basslines guy?
@@businessofrhythm2315 Your response didn’t even address my clarification, Lol. If you spent as much time shedding and actually gigging as you do being anonymously cantankerous via the internet you might actually learn the value of in-the-pocket, drummer locked-in basslines. I can explain it for you but I can’t understand it for you ;)
Sorry, great bass and an even greater review, but what do you mean by "fast"? isnt the speed of a bess dictated by the speed the player is playing the bass?
+Bar Goldstein I would say it has a lot of typical humbucker characteristics. It's just more dynamic and has a bit of the typical singlecoil open- and brightness. However it's definitely not a typical noise canceling single coil, it sounds much fatter
BassTheWorld.com I agree 100%. I saved 3 years to get this model (in antique black), the pickups are definitely fatter than the Aguilar pick ups that come in most of the Jaba models.
20k views in 2 days :) what's going on here? Thanks everyone for watching! :) by the way... regarding this fast attack thing. You can't hear this in our sound samples. This is rather something you notice when playing this bass.
I'd like these videos more if the Amish guy didn't always play the most subdued baselines possible. What does this thing sound like if you lean into it a little? Does this thing have any dynamics? I can't tell because of feather fingers here.
Honestly while the bass visually looks stunning, and while the design in terms of ergonomics and spacing decisions is no doubt very tasteful and educated, I just can't shake the fact that the sound that this particular bass projects does not reach me in terms of just the instinctive feeling of being connected emotionally to the sound that comes out of the instrument. It all comes down to the electronics I think and by that I mean that it's probably these pickups, the bass sounds lively and is very well recorded, but there's this presence in the mids to high mids that I just find a bit excessive perhaps, I can't really put the finger on what I don't like... it's just not my cup of tea for some reason, maybe I just like a bit more of a traditional presentation of the sound in terms of where the energy is in the tone and how it behaves dynamically.
Jazz bass not fast ?! ...well that's a point of view. Always focusing on the mids and treble eh, the flash and sparkle do catch your ears zu viel ! ... in the first place a bass is about BASS, so why don't you also look at that part of the sound too ?
Ok I like the bass a lot but please don't talk about the top having an effect on the sound. Especially with an active EQ it will never have any significant impact.
I tried a lot of basses. And there's just too much other things. Let's put everything in order: Bassist --> Bass --> Amp Let's break this down: Bassist variables: - Playing style (pick vs fingers). - Position of hand Bass variables: - Pick ups - Onboard EQ - Strings Amp variables: - Not even going to explain how many different amps there are. After this list, you tell me that just the top of a bass will have a significant impact? I get that build quality will give an bass a nicer feel. But if I were to put you to the test and use everything the same except for a different top, you'd be able to tell the difference comparing the two side to side? Let alone while being used in a band? Even as a guitar builder myself I don't believe that. For acoustic guitars sure, but electric ones...
Well it's not a religion now is it? Believing is someone different than knowing. I'm trying to see what arguments people have to support their claims that wood does have a significant effect on a solid wood (bass)guitar. And now you've edited you're reply by adding components. Well yes of course; everything combined will have a significant impact. That's saying that the combined parts of a car make for a unique car. This discussion was about the wood.
I actually put a deposit on one of these about a month ago, it's supposed to arrive in the early summer. Can't wait!
how much is it?
Around 3 thousand Euros
Dave Hammers Did you get it yet?? Hope it's everything you expected. It is one gorgeous looking/sounding bass..

+T Bass Bone thanks :)
Is Mayones an instrument?
Lordoftheflies234 So all the time Patrick was right :-)
It's what you put on sandwiches
You can pretty much lick your fingers after playing a Mayones the same way you lick 'em after eating your mayo sandwich...
Just ordered one too. 5 months. Worth the wait.
Rene is an amazing bass player by the way....a lot of styles and always very musical
Great review & nice bass. One negative that wasn’t mentioned is that the balance on the lap while sitting without a strap is very poor. The bass has A LOT of neck dive while sitting unless you play it between your legs like Hadrian does. This was a deal breaker for me.
Oh that's not good
That's quite possibly the nicest bass I've ever seen.
Gregor! The most informative and entertaining reviews! :)
I rarely see a boutique bass I'd even consider buying, this one though is amazing. The body is definitely American Deluxe Jazz Bass inspired.
What a beautiful bass! I would love to own this.
Such a gorgeous instrument
What a fantastic instrument!
It's a real beauty besides the great playing and sound, Awesome.
that desk looks nice af. goes great with the bass too
Looks way better than your typical jazz bass. And a 5 string at that.
I wish he had played more pocket-oriented, thumpy low end lines on the sound demo rather than the chords and intense slapping that he was doing (which sounded great btw). I wanna hear a bass actual sound like a bass!
Dude thats exactly what he does. did you even watch it?

Good review and lovely bass
I´d love to see you guys demo the new mayones malaman bass!
this will be up in (hopefully) 3 weeks
Nice Bro. Nice sound texture...tones are nice, pickups are super clean.
Nice bass, good player
Man....... What a bassist 😇😇
is this the same spec and quality that Hadrien plays or is it a cheaper version?
I want this bass!!!!
Edilson Pereira
one beautiful instrument.
Love the CUSTOM style pimped out beard!
Love the finish.😳
Beautiful bass!
Nice Review!! Want more!
GORGEOUS bass!!!!
Its an amazing instrument!I'm a MAYONES lover.. :-D DO we know the pickup configuration for this one? 70s or 60s pickup spacing?
60s
the bassist's little finger wants to leave
I want this bass so god damn much, too bad it costs as much as my kidney.
Is it me or does he sounds like Arnold Schwarzenegger if you close your eyes & listen? lol..😂
Not in the slightest
reminds of cort a bit ... but the wood on that body definitely not cort (^^)
I agree, very inspired by Cort GB series
damn, son
beautiful bass
Great review! Thanks..!
SOLID JB sound ! Nice !
will there be a review of Malaman's Jabba Signature in the future? 😁
yes
Great !
Sorry, great bass and an even greater review, but what do you mean by "fast"? isnt the speed of a bess dictated by the speed the player is playing the bass?
Some basses have a faster response than others
someone can explain me the differences about overall sound betweem this and Malaman signature
Love the bass...love his final speech. LOL
price?
bassdirect.co.uk in England already have it on their website, 2,500 pounds.
2,500 special pre-order price, list price is 2,750 pounds.
It won't be pre-order price, but it's always pre-order because as of late Mayones unfortunately has a waiting list of seven month.
"...really fast picking techniques like _______ ?"
What is the picking technique he said? I couldn't understand him.
... Like Hadrien does
Mayones, the Pride of Poland🇵🇱!
It requires two batteries?
I love the sound of this bass, hate the pick guard (just me)
a humbucker is not a humbucker if it doesn't sound like a humbucker
it's a noise-cancelling Jazz Bass pickup
+Bar Goldstein I would say it has a lot of typical humbucker characteristics. It's just more dynamic and has a bit of the typical singlecoil open- and brightness. However it's definitely not a typical noise canceling single coil, it sounds much fatter
i think it still sounds like a jazz bass,

26 frets??
one of the weirdest looking Jazz basses with one of the weirdest model names for guitars
first time I see Isis playing bass guitar
Now if you go into studio session with a jazz and the producer is happy then u tell him its active and he frowns
Fast bass this fast bass that shiiit my bass playing rode the short bus
Neat as frick.

for some reason this is the bass from NAMM I've seen posted about the most
this is a bass? or this a guitar?
definitely a bass
5 big strings, a deep low end, it's named bass a thousand times on the video... Yeah, I think that it's a bass.
Are you an idiot? Or are you an idiot?
great review...now just loan me some money so I can get one!!!!
nah, i prefer the Federico Malaman model
I'd like these videos more if the Amish guy didn't always play the most subdued baselines possible. What does this thing sound like if you lean into it a little? Does this thing have any dynamics? I can't tell because of feather fingers here.

I do. Jazz Basses still have a slower attack time due to the type of neck attachment. This is not an opinion.
3 grand minimum = heart broken
you do a review of hadrien bass and f*ing slap it? damn no! f* slap
It’s an excellent slap bass. Also Hadrien slaps, too. There’s proof on THIS channel. Go, find it ;)
