This is quite ridiculous. There are SO MANY submariner homages, copies, etc., if you want one you cant find them all over aliexpress for the same cost as this mod, and not ruin your GA-2100. This is in one word - Horrible.
Sorry for my English The best part for the casioak and the square g that they are very easy to modify, however, if you try any modification for the casioak you will return it to factory look after some time because it looks better, toughfer and more practical in my opinion
Even if it were executed perfectly, this matte black, tacticool dial and the shiny metal just don't mesh very well. Obviously it's a matter of taste, but thats just my 2 cents.
To be honest I quite like to way it looks. To me it looks very refreshing. As a guy with below 7" wrists I think I would want one if they made a kit with more wearable dimensions. Nice video as always and I love these funny intros you make every once in a while. Same with the R.I.P SKX video. Loved it!
If you're a Gal with 9" wrists, you have probably just arrived home from the Japanese Olympic Games. Where you took part in the Shot putt or weight lifting. Nice Aberdeen tshirt tho Jody.
I have these little winglets on my GW-M5610 too. I took really good care of it and the bezel was not removed in the past 2 years. Not sure why it happened. The mod looks fine to me tho, turns it into a completely different watch!
@@davidbridge5652 Depends. I only switched combo of bezel + strap from the MR4 version so I did not open the caseback. However, if you open the watch make sure you check your o-ring before assembly, lube it or replace it when necessary. I think professionals would recommend to replace the o-ring whenever opening the caseback though, just like you replace thermal paste on a cpu when reassembling a cooler. Removing the caseback can break integrity and can cause the o-ring to develop micro-cracks due to it's shape changing from a pressurized state (caseback pushing it tightly). Most ppl are just opening and reassembling it without every worrying about water resistance. If you are super worried about waterproofness get a new ring online and use that, or take it to a professional for assembly and they can probably do a water resistance test too.
@@thepovpianist9502 ah right, many thanks for the info. I might read up and watch a few more UA-cam videos before I attempt anything like that. Maybe I will just change the strap for now. Baby steps 😆
I think the real question on everyone's mind is why doesn't Jody do a cold open for every watch review! I can imagine it getting slowly more and more outrageous as it continues.
Quick story time.... I'm a very big guy. Not fat, but very very tall and solidly built. Picture an NBA power forward. I've never been into G-Shocks, but I bought a g steel last year and absolutely fell in love with it. As much as I love the look of dive watches, I pretty much never buy them because most of them sit at a diameter size that make them look smallish on my wrist and it loses that powerful diver watch look that I like. Anyway, I love my g-steel ( I have the fully analog variant) to the point that I considered going to a watchmaker and seeing if they could remove the g-shock bezel and replace it with a diver style metal bezel. Something I would probably never do, but I was curious. Then I saw this. Holy s***. This looks great in my humble opinion. And as a member of the monster wrist gang who has been looking for a Submariner Style watch that actually fits my wrist the way sibs usually an average person's wrist, I think I'll have to purchase this
I still haven't modded mine, but the upper has small gaps that love ripping arm hairs out, even though they've never been removed. Still undecided about buying the stainless upgrade as i love how the standard black on black looks.
If you're like me,you buy a particular watch because you like the design. So why would you want to change it?If I get bored with it I just buy another watch I like, almost always Chinese or a Casio or maybe a Vostock...................................................
It actually looked quite decent - SS case beats the resin one for me & the bezel looked the part but for the bi-directional thing: only half an effort made there. Assuming the crystal is mineral? Impressed at how the case just fits over the naked 'Oak rather than stripping the thing down to the movement. Nice bracelet, shame about the clasp though. However, in my small collection I have a Duro (with a sapphire, following your mod), so I don't see me picking up an 'Oak just to mod it this way :-)
@@JustOneMoreWatch I forgive you. It should be a good game with both teams looking to have improved since last season. Great stuff from you as usual. Keep up the good work. As for the weather, the sun is shining in the Scottish Borders.
I just bought a kit with the AP style metal bracelet. I couldn't agree more with you - "I think it looks ok if you are a guy or gal with a nine inch wrist". Sadly I am not and the kit will be finding a new home soon - the trash bin.
I had been considering one of these CasiOaks, but after watching this video? Admittedly, these are nice looking watches, but if they're this monstrous on wrists, I believe I'll pass. Great video, Jody!
The raison d'etre of the casioak is that it is g-shock tough, but extremely light with an easy-to-read analogue face, hence the carbon core and small digital readout. If anyone wants the metallic look of the AP Royal Oak, Casio obliged with their octagonal (and much more functional) Edifice range.
Someone is just having too much fun during the lockdown. Glad to see you are staying safe and in good health! ...aside from suffering the weird mods for the lot of us lol.
Intro was top notch, always enjoyed these little scetches. The review was of course great as usual. Regarding the mod kit.. Eh, with that ridiculous pertruding end link adding an even more ridiculous real L2L size, and that non working micro adjustment: Thanks, but no thanks. Ok, the case looked fine and so did the bracelet. But still no. Not even "close but no cigar". Just no.
I got one of these a while ago and featured it briefly in my GM-2100 announcement video, where I surmised it to be "hot garbage" (and I still stand by that). I love AliX mod kits usually, but this one is awful in almost every way possible. Great video though!
Looks pretty good though. It would suit some large dudes. Also bidirectional bezel is better for timing everyday activities (which is what everyone use it for); you don't have to turn all the way around
It sounded crazy at first. Then when you you'd finished it, I thought that doesn't actually look that bad. Then you showed the lug to lug measurement 😲
Fun Video Jody can you make video on how to choose a watch based on wrist size and lug-to-lug width & size preference you want. The basics would be great also based watch type like pilot vs diver vs dress vs field.
Aberdeen for the cup 😂 You are so right that's a crap mod. Entertaining video though. Think I will stick with one of mine, a black original or a transparent case and blue strap 😎
Very good vid Jodi, pity about the mod. Not my cup of tea, why buy a 2100 and then put a stainless kit on it, kind of defeats the reason for buying the watch in the first place. I got mine as a beater watch for work and just added a lumed/glow indices kit. Only problem now is the indices are better than the hands.
On today's episode of Just One More Jody, we'll be putting the Casioak on a diet after it started swelling. You know if you let it go long enough you won't be able to see the crown...
I use a dive bezel to time stuff like laundry and cooking so this would be clutch since the gab2100 is Bluetooth synced to correct time. If it was another diver style I would like it a lot more. Something like a tuna, samurai, or even a vostok would have been nicer. At least I can throw a NATO on this and be ok though so that's cool
I agree with you, this is ridiculous; if you want a super tough Submariner style Casio, just buy a Duro and save yourself a ton of money.
Exactly, good point.
I wouldn't call the Duro super tough, but it is big.
No stopwatch
Duro too big in most skinny wrist
Best opening ever. And yeah, worst mod...yeesh. thx for taking one for the team.
I'm literally 30 seconds in but this is already gold. Well done. Here's the Best Picture Oscar 🏆
Sadly, pretty much every casioak mod kit has a ridiculous effective lug-to-lug. This one just happens to be the worst.
@Haris Memović The AP-style full metal kits? Almost 55 l2l. Not even joking.
I love my Casioak Mod. Great looking watch for $200 and tough as nails
Well the intro outshines the mod by several orders of magnitude!! Enjoyable video that I'm sure will save some viewers money.
Cheers Mate 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Steve!
Best intro since the Bambino Trap!
Man I love the Jody to talking to Jody vids, nearly as good as the inclusion of Mrs JOMW
Im surprised there isn't a tuna shroud kinda mod kit yet for these casios, eh?
I just would buy a Steeldive Tuna homage (I actually did and it's sweet!!)..................
Such thing existed already, the digi tuna.
A Tuna-Flieger mash up (nicknamed the 'flying tuna') .. with 50m water resistance of course ... PERFECT - EXACTLY WHAT I WASN'T LOOKING FOR!!! 🤦♂️
@@russellharris5072 lol 👍 agree .. I got the blue dial Addiesdive Tuna - also takes care of the blue AR coating issue.

What is bad, mad, and dangerous? Jody with two screwdrivers and a shipment from Ali Express.
I've been wearing mine non stop for over a year and the "winglets" are about 3x worse than yours 🙈. It is now a 48mm
I’m glad you made this, I’ve had this kit in my AliExpress cart for a while now… Couldn’t convince myself to pull the trigger though. Now I know why.
Resin "winglets" are typical for G-Shocks. A few different models I own have them.
1:34 I come home after school and check your channel every day. I love you bro
Sorry for my English

I’m still surprised there isn’t more mods for the Casio duro since it already looks submarinerish. Would love to change out the bezel or something.
ish is the word ;-) I think if you have the yearning for something like a Rolex, better to start with something like a Steinhart.
I'd struggle to get a good fit on this around my leg let alone my arm.
Even if it were executed perfectly, this matte black, tacticool dial and the shiny metal just don't mesh very well. Obviously it's a matter of taste, but thats just my 2 cents.

Casio is God Tier. Be proud of it for what it is!
Good God ...
That intro, Jody! 🤣 Right up there with your SKX burial one.
Maybe one day when wearing a watch in the middle of your forearm becomes a thing this will be a huge success.
You've upped your intro game by a mile. Cheers Jody!

Interesting. Some relaxation of the resin?
I'm looking to mod my GW 5610, would it still be waterproof after being modded? I'm asking as I'm never tried it before.
@@JustOneMoreWatch Maybe. I saw a lot of ppl who do not have this issue so I have no idea what causes it.

Sydney lockdown looks like being a long one. They may well head in that very direction...... ;)
Cause tgv’s became unbearable! Jody’s are a fun rarity always half taking the Mickey out of himself.
Agree mate the lug to lug is ridiculous on most of the mod kits, the resin strap is the busy and very comfortable

I quite like it, I have a spare BLIGER clasp that has a fair copy of the glidelock (tm) adjustment. Am sure that would give the adjustment required.
One of the better intros ive seen mate... Lol love ya stuff 😁👍👍
Has the Casio become the new SKX? The mod king? Good vid. Keep at it!
I think the CasiOak is definitely MY new SKX. Plenty of mileage 😉
Hey jody- yeah that expansion is normal. Even when i got it brand new, it alrwady had a bit of a gap.
Great intro, Jody! Thanks for the always fun and interesting content.
