Please see if Brit Floyd is touring near you won’t be disappointed I have see them 18 times soon to be 19
Hey buddy, we do appreciate your input into the good old music I grew up with in the 70s !! Sex, drugs and RocknRoll!! Keep on educating these young folks!
Grateful Dead is a whole other Rabbit hole to go down compared to Led Zeppelin! But enjoy the Ride!
Cheers from Cusco, Peru!
Considering the age of this post, I'm sure you know that this was about Sid, who wasn't lost In death but to schizophrenia.
Give Pigs (three different ones) a go.
OMGoodness, I lost my husband in February 2020. My life gone. He was a guitarist. We were in tune. OMGoodness I miss him😘
You are on a different plane entirely from nearly all others doing this (most of whom are bandwagon-jumpers listening to the same songs with the same 'reactions'). You understand, feel, and learn about the music. And your comments and views are so sincere, and - if I may say so - intelligent and perceptive. And your taste is excellent!
The Wall was my late wife's favorite Pink, she passed away in 2015. It's all good we had 38 great years together, everytime I hear this song I think of her.✌️
Sorry for your loss but I’m happy you had 38 amazing years with her. ❤
Same with my father! I was blessed to know, learn and watch him for 42 years.. he should've been gone long ago, I was prepared to find him overdosed as a kid and never came. After 20+ years of sobriety, we found him the way he wanted to go I guess. With a video and all. I'm so thankful that the Lord saw fit for him to stick around while we grew up!
Cheers mate! Life is beautiful and bitter at the same time.
@@angelabordack thank you 🙏✌️
So sorry brother! Music can be a powerful way to remember the great times and what life was like when you first heard a song.
I believe there is a place where we meet our loved ones again…
My brother loved Pink Floyd. Last year he took his own life. This song was played at his funeral. So this song is always extra special to me.
I'm sorry for your loss❤
I am sorry for your loss and grief ❤
So sorry to read this news. Sending hugs.
So sorry for your loss
I am very sorry about the loss of your brother. May his memory be a blessing.
My brother died this recently, and at his funeral we played a song he enjoyed which makes us think of him - Born to be Wild.
My older brother fell victim to Schizoprenia in his late teens. He was the best of us. His talent, wit and looks left us all in the dust. He was also fearless. And schizophrenia robbed him of his glorious, unbounded and gifted self. Oh Ron, how I wish you were here.
What a tragic loss. I'm so sorry.
The Shamans believe people like your brother are gifted prophets and seeyers and it is criminal to put them on toxic medications or in those nasty assylums Many of these people are sensitive highly intelligent and psychically sensitive I believe the Shamans are right in wise ancientr cultures they are considered gifted however unfortunately sometimes they do pick up other energies which is a big reason for their issues (possessions) there are also physical issues that can be healed check out Abram Hoffer and Linus Pauling they healed people both won Nobel Peace Prize for their work
Damn Larry, that hit me in the feels... Sending good vibes your way!
Anyone who misses someone for any reason - and that's damn near every person on earth - should deeply feel this song.
It makes me cry foory dad who loved pink Floyd even had t-shirts and mug aamd soockks he knew how to play this on guitar and he passed in January this year from a Ural motorbike accident and this song hurts me to listen to 😥😔
@@Jo_Wardy Damn man, I'm very sorry to hear that. I'm not going to lie and say it's easy, but you will eventually heal. If you have access to a therapist, consider talking to someone for a while to help you process your pain. It will help you heal.
Straight Facts
i do . i miss my friend marshall who played and sang this song very well .
This song was about their original guitarist, Syd Barrett, who lost his mind after too much acid and couldn't function at one point. During the recording, Syd came to visit them in the studio. He had turned from a frizzy-haired hippy kid into a chubby, bald, middle-aged man who was obsessed with brushing his teeth every few minutes. He was there, but he wasn't there.
And I think Floyd gave him rights to every song they ever recorded.
This is my favorite Floyd song. Always makes me think of my dad, who passed 7 years ago. Happy birthday, Polo!
Same here my dude, mine passed a month after my son was born, so it'll 7 years also, much love my dude
@@AlexSolomon91 it was especially hard for me. I talked to him daily. We lived 3 hours away from each other. I was trying to get him moved up to my place, but he didn’t make it. It’s a shitty club to be in. Sending light and love!!
I played this at my dad's funeral.. Sorry you had to suffer that, friend
Grand dad Same , sorry for your loss.
Your blessed brother cherish those memories. mine passed the day my parents decided to tell my mothers parents they were pregnant with me. I think about him often while listening to floyd thankfully they kinda kept me grounded. Peace and love to all ✌️❤️
My soulmate of 21 years, introduced me to Pink Floyd..I lost my love, 2021, to kidney failure..He was only 47..I'm left to raise our 9yr old son, without his Dad..This song makes me think of him & remember how I felt, when I first heard it, with my love❤
My husband had a stroke and lost a lot of his cognitive abilities at 26 yrs old. This song felt completely about missing who he used to be. I then played it at his funeral when he died at 58 yrs old.
The sad part is he is singing to someone that is alive. It’s a song about the distance between two people. Happy birthday Polo
I had this played at my husbands funeral, Floyd was one of his favourite bands and I still listen to their albums.
Me too, nearly 20 years ago now
I love watching you and other young people’s reactions to the music I grew up listening to. Now you see why us boomers are stuck in the 70’s. We had the best music of all time 😊
I started dating a tiny one in May of ninth grade. We were married and had two great kids. She passed, suddenly, at 44. ❤
Her favorite band was The Cure. Searched for your react video to Pictures but couldn’t find it.
Loss is loss for life.
For their 20th wedding anniversary my mom gave my dad divorce papers. This song helped my dad through the divorce as well as his first year of sobriety. The "Two lost souls swimming in a goldfish bowl, year after year. Running over the same old ground, is how we found, the same old fears.... Wish you were here." was my dad's fave lines. He bought the poster of the artwork for this song and framed it. 11 years after his death I know have that very poster of his hanging on my wall.
My best friend would have celebrated her 39th birthday yesterday, but sadly, she lost her battle with addiction 7 years ago. This song is so close to my heart because we both had a deep love for Pink Floyd. 🖤🖤🖤🖤 thank you for giving respect to such amazing classics
Shine on You Crazy Diamond.
This was my brothers favourite song to play and sing...he died of cancer and every time I hear this song I hear his voice 🥲
Pink Floyd's song "Time" is still one of their most profound songs that still makes me pretty emotional whenever I hear it.
So is The Great Gig in the Sky - especially when you know its meaning: It's someone as they are dying - fighting against it, despairing about it, and then realizing they can't stop it and accepting it. When you know what it stands for, it becomes one of the most haunting songs you will ever hear.
the entire Pink Floyd, "Animals" album is amazing from front to back. Definitely worth the reaction
Animals is possibility more relevant today than in the 70’s. Was at the show in Philly back then. Still play this today. ❤
Yeah, best album they ever did
This song always gets me. Makes me think of my older brother that passed away from a heart attack at the age of 45.
Happy birthday Polo🎉🎈
I'm here, listening to this, thinking of my best friend since high school, like a brother to me. He also died of a heart attack at 45, 3 years ago. Coincidentally, my uncle also died of a heart attack at 45.
Wish you were here the crowd sings every word. I saw them on my birthday in the 90's in the pouring rain in Orlando. No one left. Everyone helped to push cars out of the mud. Including mine. Best birthday ever!!!! Lasers were awesome cutting thru the rain.
"Wish You Were Here" was written for Syd Barrett, founding member of Pink Floyd, whose mental decline forced his departure from the band.
Watch the documentary on Syd! It had me crying my eyes out! Incredibly sad story.
The Great Gig in the Sky! For pure emotion with no actual words. Clare Torry evokes so much emotion without singing a single word. Pink Floyd were geniuses when they asked her to sit in on this song.
Pink Floyd completely nailed the times in which we lived in the seventies. I'm a total fan.
Pink Floyd is known for the sonic atmospheres they create. This song is so simple, its acoustic and bare bones. And it ‘s every bit as impactful. I suggest watching this live from the Pulse concert. It’s not so much about death, more about the absence of someone who is still here but not really here or present. Such an amazing song because of its simplicity.
Young Lust is a fantastic song if you haven’t already listened to it….it’s gotta a grittier kind of nasty vibe you don’t always get from Floyd but you absolutely know it’s Pink Floyd!!!! Love it!!!
Wish you were
here...perfection!
it's about Syd Barrett.. it's so sad. When I hear this song, I think of my son who passed. We lost him several years prior to his death to addiction. Glimmers of him came back during covid after when he got clean for two months. We were all home and got to spend a lot of time with the old Matthew, but then he relapsed and died. But the years of him being out there, missing him, wanting him to come back home and be himself... that's what this song feels like to me... just longing and missing and being powerless...
'GREAT GIG IN THE SKY' DONE IN 2 TAKES .. NO INSTRUCTIONS ... A GREAT STORY BEHIND IT!
YES! My fav Pink Floyd song!
Their songs are always a journey. A fun drive, a trippy fall, a philosophic walk, and angry protest.
Mr polo
The best you can do is find " the dark side of the moon" and wish you were here and division bell and turn off the lights, light some candles and experience pink floyd
I have been doing so for the most part of 50 years
I hope at some point you can listen to the entire album without interruption. Just put your headphones on and sit in your most comfortable chair and take the journey. The songs flow together and are meant to be listened to as the whole.
The song is about Syd Barrett, the original frontman and chief songwriter of Pink Floyd, who left the group in 1968 after his mental and physical health and reliabity deteriorated thanks to heavy drug use, mostly LSD. He was finally released of his earthly bonds in 2006.
🌹🌹Happy Birthday! 🌹🌹
This is my favorite Pink Floyd song.
Pink Floyd "Us and Them" is a great one There songs are deep yes!
It's amazing live. If you can imagine an entire arena singing along...
The most beautiful song Pink Floyd ever made. I cant help it, but I cry every time I hear it.
I love when new listeners hear this song.
This was the album where they really hit the big time.
One of the founding band members was no longer with them.
This was a love song to their lost friend.
That's what some folks say.
The left and right audio always gets me in this song. Really feels like I’m in a dark empty cell and he’s singing right next to me. With a box TV with nothing but white static.
The Turning Away is very Powerful❤
This may be Pink Floyd’s greatest song
This song and it's album it is named after. It is about the band missing their former lead singer Syd Barrett. Go and learn this history of why this band wrote this whole album. There is a ton of feeling written into the album. There is a lot behind it, and the history of this album really gives a whole new prospective to look at for both the band itself and the music from all of their albums.
There is also the story that Syd just randomly showed up while they were recording this song!!
Lost in the Woods was an interesting book on Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd and the influences on music of that era.
I believe it's also about Roger's father who died in the war.
Rodger has said in interviews he wrote it about his father
Short version: he had mental problems, which he made worse by using LSD. People can google for the details.
Us and Them, The great gig in the sky, shine on you crazy diamond. High Hopes! oh my god🫢 So good.
Listening to Pink Floyd is best done non stop album in a dimly lit room with your favorite beverage, good set of head phones…..their albums were designed to be experienced in one sitting within the context meant….enough said….
It’s so nice to see young people listening to these old time classics. They were more than just songs. They were forever songs, forever music. It would be great if they came back in as it will definitely bridge the huge gap between generations. Maybe that’s what humanity needs right now. To teach their children of this most amazing music that was produced and performed then. It seems the youngsters today are missing out on so much. Thank you 🙏 for this, keep on listening to great music.
Yes I get mesmerized by the twirling and spinning behind you.
Glad you are listening. This group is my absolute favorite preformers, bar none!!
My sister played this incessantly when she was learning guitar. This, Tangerine by LZ and Landslide by Fleetwood Mac, (and all the Neil Young she could manage). She made me crazy listening to her practice this. She has passed now. The poetry in the lyrics is so well supported by the tone of the melody, that despite Katherine wearing it out, it has to be an all time favorite for me. Thanks for reacting to this.
I’m 53 and my favorite band is PF with my favorite song being Comfortably Numb. This may sound morbid but I told my 3 kids that when I pass I don’t want a traditional funeral. If they feel like doing something then a celebration of life would be cool but I want Comfortably Numb, Wish You Were Here, and Shine On You Crazy Diamond played on repeat the entire time. And a dream of mine, which will never happen, would be to meet David Gilmour. I saw PF live twice…..1988&1995. Best concerts of my life!!!
Pink Floyd "The Final Cut" it hits real deep
He is running his vocals over his guitar playing in between stanzas. All the guitar has vocals imitating the guitar. The high pitched single tone. Yes, Live is great!
One song I love by Pink Floyd that many don't react to is "One of These Days". Rockin' song!
Time, one of my all time favourite Floyd songs
Since my little brother died, I have not been able to make it through this song with dry eyes. I miss him so.
One of the few Floyd songs that doesn’t lose something by being taken out of the Album context. Ordinarily i would advise you to listen to whole albums in sequence and then cut them up for YT as the flow from one track to the next is a big part of the experience. The albums are almost always bigger than the sum of their excellent parts.
Shine on You Crazy Diamond, hits hard when you know rhe story.
So hard to choose, but my favorite. I've seen so many great concerts in my 65 years. I am the most fortunate to have been able to see them in concert.
Lost both parentsxand my beloved big brother Daniel who i miss daily and now my beloved big sis is battling cancer shes also survived mrsa which when she had it had a 5% chance of survival. I pray for her daily.,l
The 1975 album Wish You Were Here was totally groundbreaking in that nowhere else had any band yet used synthesizors and electronics to add to and create songs like this. I first heard it in early 78 when I was 13 and for the best part of the next 4 years went to bed with Floyd in my headphones. I know every note of this and I am so pleased you get it.
Shine on you crazy diamond
"SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND"
Welcome to the Machine.
Dark side of the Moon. The album is gorgeous. I can’t pick 1 song off it that isn’t just pure sentiment
I agree. This title track of another album is swell also.
And it‘s recorded in 432Hz! 👍
This song is for everyone….we all miss someone, we all wish someone would return …even if it’s not possible…
Happy birthday. Learning to fly, set the controls to the center of the sun and shine on you crazy diamond is worth checking out
My favorite songs from Pink Floyd 😊
I love everything Pink Floyd
David Gilmore is a God
My favorite
Pink Floyd.... just a sound track to my life....were just two lost some.....🖐️🖐️
That is a great song. Makes me think of my best friend that died in 88.
Shocked he got through that first verse without pausing to comment on the lyrics. Just an incredible series of metaphors back to back.
This song has ALWAYS been my favorite Pink Floyd song. This is the music I grew up listening to in elementary school.. You should read about Syd Barret, who named the band and was the co-founder . He was kicked out of the band because he did so much LSD that it liquified his brain. He died in 2006 and his last known words, in an interview when asked, “Are you Syd Barrett?” were, “Leave me alone. I’ve got to get some coleslaw.”
You said, I bet it is amazing live. I was lucky enough to see them in 1975 performing on the Wish you were here tour and yes it was amazing live.
This one, Mother, and On the Turning Away are my top 3 Floyd songs. The thing with Floyd, and even Tool (which I know you really like) is that their albums are setup as one giant connected story. Each song leading into the next one. Glad you enjoyed this one.
POLO, here's the studio version of "On the Turning Away". This song is another amazing one by Pink Floyd
ua-cam.com/video/KjGXnSdVwCY/v-deo.html
That's why they're ''Progressive''.😄
Many songs have profound and powerful lyrics....On the Turning Away can be added to that list with these amazing lyrics... 🎶 🎵
"On the wings of the night
As the daytime is stirring
Where the speechless unite in a silent accord"
"Using words, you will find, are strange
Mesmerised as they light the flame
Feel the new wind of change
On the wings of the night"
tool only has one concept album
Polo, I would love to have you return serve…you know…challenge us to listen to tunes you think we should listen to with an open mind. It’s obvious most of the requests come from people much older than you. I love the appreciation you show for these musicians. Aside from our preference, what’s yours? Who are musicians you respect? Why? What part of your favorite tracks do you think we should focus on? I think you deserve to be heard, man. Your channel is one that I look forward to, because it entertains. It reinforces my appreciation of music from the 70s, 80s. What do you think we’re missing? You’ve earned my respect. Keep up the good work!
This song never fails to get me treated up. It’s long been my favorite song from them. It just strikes a chord with me, even more so now. It was my grandfather’s favorite song. He passed away when I was very young but he did the same line of work I want to do. I often wonder what he would think of me pursuing that same line of work. I always get choked up at the end, because I wish he was here, everything we could talk about, we could share. Miss you grandpa.
So glad the music i grew up is stiil touching people heart
This song is best listened to with your eyes closed. The beauty really overwhelms you then.
“I think I just heard a song that I will listen to for the rest of my life.”-POLO REACTS. Wow, just sums it up completely! I know exactly what you mean.
"Hey, You" is definitely the next one you must react to. So good.
I strongly recommend listening to their live album, Pulse, whilst lying down in a dark room. Double disc, nearly 2 and a half hours of ridiculousness. This comes 3 from the end and is worth the wait.
When I was first getting into Pink Floyd back in highschool, I would sit in my room with the lights out during a thunderstorm and watch the lightning and listen to PF. Just zone out. No drugs needed🤣
Get the DVD.
Favorite song when I was in high school in the 90s. Nice reaction ❤
i listen Pink Floyd all week of my life since i have 10 yo . i have 52 now , And I still listen to it every week . 😎👍🎶🎶
No matter how old you are, or, what you may have been through, this song resonates. Beautiful.
This whole album is amazing. Well they don’t have many misses. Live at Pompeii is a must watch. Enjoy✌️♥️
Edit: The songs on their albums flow into each other as you will soon find out.
Dark Side enlightened an entire generation. Love your reactions ❤
There is nothing like pink Floyd. Top class
Dudes life bout to change
Happy Birthday! Pink Floyd is great for every mood, so excellent choice ;) This song could be viewed (and often is) as reflective, even depressing. Personally, I think it's a wonderful tribute - haunting, yes, but acknowledging that life was better before their friend had to step back from the group for their own mental health. The story behind the song is both heart-breaking and heart-warming IMO. Glad you enjoyed it, and I hope your birthday was full of love and laughter!
High Hopes. Live.
My favorite song and album of all time
It is amazing live. 12 times I've seen it live and it's always been superb
such a fantastic album. The song is such a juxtaposition of beauty and pain. All for Syd.
Pink floyd - Welcome to the machine
This is one of the few songs that evokes a pretty strong emotional reaction for me. Love it! The reasons for me are nothing like what the band wrote it about, but it never fails to hit the feels.
Floyd is on another level. This album alongside Animals are my 2 favorite. They go so well together, my personal favorite is Animals but Wish is like its twin brother with a completely different personality if that makes sense. Also the album Meddle is insane.
Shine On You Crazy Diamond (both parts) is a critical part of both this song and album.
And yes, I get hypnotized by your machine :-)
Love your commentary, also!
This is my favorite Pink Floyd song ever.
The most beautiful song ever composed. I had the honour of seeing them during their 1994 tour when they came to Vancouver, B.C. 65,000 people sining along to this song sent shivers through me. Third greatest experience of my life. (Witnessing the birth of my kids are #1 and 2 and always will be 😉) This is the first song I played after I got home from my dad's funeral. RIP dad. This one's for you.
The perfect song…period!
Pink floyd is mellowing music !! Got 3 cassettes of theirs ,,
