I was strongly tempted to upgrade my Pixel 7 Pro to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra or the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus. But your video echoed a lot of my sentiments. The promise of 7 years of OS updates is really compelling. The improved cameras the performance the flat high quality oled screen wowed me. And lastly they were offering me $350 trade in credit. The reality hit me. I am still tempted but the Pixel 7 Pro is really doing a good job. The Ai features they are touting, some already came in the pixel feature drop last month. The pixel curved edges make it more comfortable to hold, the cameras still do a good job and the screen is still vibrant and high definition. Same arguments applied to reasoning not to upgrade to the pixel 8 . And lastly I don’t feel like shelling out another 1000 bucks to purchase the factually better latest and greatest. The same thinking is why I am also keeping my main phone: the IPhone 13 Pro Max. I instead bought more screen protectors and cases for the pixel 7 Pro.
True. If you have an S23 ultra, don't bother upgrading as the 23 is already an amazing phone. I upgraded from my Note 10 plus only because the pre-order offers were amazing and the security updates for my note 10 plus had stopped.
Samsung will make you constrained to upgrade by adding green lines on your phone through updates...this is what Samsung is doing now for their business...
@@wasiahmed1547 Wasn't aware of this. Had been using Samsung way before I got the note 10 plus and thankfully, didn't have any issues with the green lines. Maybe I got lucky?

@@chuckchizzle my Note 5 was my first Note phone, I absolutely loved that phone. That and my Pixel 3 were probably my favorite phones I ever owned up until the S23 Ultra
Been an Android user since the Galaxy S2, switched to Apple from a Note 10+ with the iPhone 13 Pro max, skipped the 14 then traded in for a 15 pro Max. With all that said, I missed Android and switched back with an S24 ultra. Can't justify or see any good reason to have an iPhone unless you're really into the ecosystem or a grandparent who just needs to make/take calls and pic of grandkids.
I never use a screen protector, rarely use a case too, haven't broken a phone in years, I upgraded from S21U, to S24U, everything is better except personally I prefer the look of the S21U. 1 month on, been great so far
I just switched from the s22 ultra in the orange bc that was not red! 😂 I feel like the colors were more vivid in the 22 than the 24. However, I feel the performance and a change of color to the violet was worth the switch to get the most out of my trade-in.
I currently have the S21 Ultra and the phone is amazing, but it is starting to show its age. The S24 Ultra was honestly a no-brainer purchase for me, and the S21 Ultra will suffice as a solid backup. Thank you for the informative video.
I am kind of sad I upgraded from my s22 ultra. I personally think the camera on the s24 ultra is not as good as the s22 ultra. Wish I would have just kept what I had.
Just discovered a deal on the Samsung app yesterday for the blue unlocked 512G model that has an additional $150 discount that makes it cheaper than the 256G model. Guess the blue isn't selling as well as the others. I was going to hold out and see what the Zfold6 was going to bring to the table but with all the leaks and rumors it doesn't look like that was going to have the things I wanted so I pulled the trigger on the S24 Ultra. I have been using the Zfold5 as a result of a great deal Samsung offered me when I contacted them about repairs to my S23 Ultra. It's not something I was originally interested in but it was fun using something new for a change of pace. I now have a Tab S9 to use with the S24 Ultra which I think will be better in the long run.
I'm currently shopping around for a new phone after 4 years with a refurbished Note 9. I dropped it last week, and it cracked the screen, plus I'm having lag issues when commenting on UA-cam videos. 😆 You're absolutely right; even though I really want it, I can't justify the price due to how I use my phone/what I use it for. So, I'm looking at the refurbished/renewed Note 20 and the S Ultra series 21-23. I just really want a nice camera because my children are young and I want to take lots of quality pictures without having to pull out our Nikon every time the kids are doing something cute. lol So, I probably WON'T be buying it...even though I REALLY want it. 😭 Thanks for the thorough review; it has really helped me make this decision.
Curious what the owners think I currently have a basic s10 so I'm thinking about upgrading primarily for a jump in display quality to help my eyes but hear many people complaining about the colours being washed out or the on board speakers being terrible any first hand experience you could offer?
Colors are washed out, display is grainy, sound is worse even compared to my S23U (hollow, dull), vibration is as weak as on S23U and I could probably get used to all those things... but camera software...well camera software is the main reason why I would not stick to using this phone even if it was 200 bucks
I just upgraded to the S24 Ultra from the regular S10 and i could not be happier. First i was a bit hesative about the bigger size but it just took 1-2 days to get used to the bigger form factor.
They did the same thing with the s23,they tweaked a couple of things and increased the price like they will do every year to make more money. I own the s24 and it's the camera that is the biggest improvement but not worth the $350 increase.
The S24 Ultra is a phenomenal premium device, I really dig my review unit... but one of its launch differentiators, Galaxy AI, is now hitting the past two generations of Samsung's biggest devices. That makes this device LESS necessary in order to get some of the coolest features. But yeah, I'm loving the device.
I was on a Note 9 so with all the available stackable preorder incentives it felt like a no brainer. It's a kitchen sink phone that'll last me a long time.
Watching on my violet S24 Ultra. Really love the flat design as it looks more premium than the curved edge. I also like the anti-glare feature which is so nice to have. This is Samsung's best flagship phone so far. I am gonna keep this for the next 5 years.
Have you had any issues related to late notifications? I purchased an S24 Ultra and I returned it as Gmail notifications (and any other email app linked to my Gmail account) was 5-15 mins late compared with the iPhone. I don't know if this happens in all apps or just a handful of them but after 10+ years using an iPhone, late notifications is something I can't not cope with
While I loved my S23 Ultra, getting basically what I paid for it in trade a year later to upgrade was an easy decision. I love this phone, and like the nerd that I am I also preordered the OnePlus 12 so it's been awesome toggling between the 2.
@@shebjjeje9720 2 totally different phones to me, different size, shape, etc. I preordered both and decided I like them both. I traded in a pixel 8 pro for the OnePlus
Couldn't disagree more. I've used every Note and S/Ultra model along with every top end iPhone model (just dumped my 15 Pro Max for this), and foldable phones. This is by far the best phone I've ever used. If someone has the 23 Ultra (which isnt a good assumption), then sure, maybe not worth upgrading this year. But anything before, or if you own ANY iPhone, it is worth it IMO. I can't state enough how much better the screen (flat and anit-glare) makes to the overall value and usability of the phone. I also like the 24 Plus (great phone that is very similar to the Ultra in many ways but only lighter and no s-pen), BUT it doesnt have the anit-glare screen and that makes all the difference for me.
Whats annoying is that around launch, there was so much misleading information that even I had assumed the anti glare screen was also on the S24 series (plus and regular).
Seriously itching to switch from my iPhone 15PM so I went to Best Buy yesterday and held the S24U for several minutes testing it out and thought it was really nice. Then I stared at all of the Android apps such as messages. I walked over to the iPhone 15PM (which I have) and thought, wow, this is really nice too. :) I left with my "brand new" iPhone 15PM.
Those saying "it's just a phone" must be Apple users. I've used LG mostly, HTC, Umidigi, Motorola, Huawei, Samsung, Redmi and know each brand has its strong and weak points. My favorite UI is LG and my least favorite is Umidigi. I like using my Motorola at lot more than my Samsung and I also like using my Redmi Note 12 more than my Samsung.
Problem is especially in europe and the UK there is no competition Mosty apple and Samsung on contract phones The phone that only comes close is the oneplus 12 that you can only buy outright This is a major problem in the industry I have the s24 ultra and I wouldn't buy samsung again Reasons are price and you'd don't get much extra Battery tech in these phones are terrible.
YESSS 5 TIMES OVER, This thing is an absolute beast. I use mine in place of a laptop/ computer running a business and it can do it ALL. No more laptop or tablet in the truck to keep track of everything because the phone just couldn't keep up. The camera is breathtaking, controls are perfect, setup is easy and user friendly. I upgraded from a S23 ultra and am so glad I broke that stupid thing because I LOVE this phone
What's your, or anyone's opinion on this scenario...I just ordered the S24 Ultra (512gb) direct from Samsung. They provide a trade in value for my S23 Ultra of $750. With the educational discount my cost to move to the S24 Ultra, with tax, is $456. Does this seem reasonable to jump to the S24 Ultra?
In my professional opinion, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, while a capable device, may not be considered the best in its class. However, the subsequent release of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra marked a significant improvement, solidifying its position as a top-tier smartphone. Furthermore, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is anticipated to surpass its predecessor, offering even more advanced features and capabilities.

I'd say s24. I feel like foldables are still not technologically mature enough when it comes to its durability. I like the foldables though and would likely switch to that formfactor for a phone few more years from now.
Regular S24? I'd go with the Fold 5, but I have a love for foldables that cannot be explained. Realistically though, anything BUT a foldable will be more practical on an everyday basis

Does applying screen protector on the phone will void/affect the anti glare coating? I heard everyone is saying that. Beat the purpose of the anti glare, that what i meant. Thank you.
does the samsung screen protector really help with retaining the anti-glare coating? - I didn't think it did, that may be worth looking into, because the coating on the S24 ultra is a game changer
Well.. I have the S23 Ultra and the Pixel 8 pro.. But it’s something about apple I can’t let go… so I’ll go for the 15 pro max and keep that phone for the upcoming 4 years.
I bought the s24u because I smashed the s23u and had 256gb, and had the opportunity to pay 500 extra for the 512gb s24u and they discontinued the s23u 512gb.
With this old, messy and outdated camera software, even if everything else was perfect (and it is not), this phone is one big NO, without even considering the price.
i'll be sticking with the s22 ultra, it just doesnt seem revolutionary enoough, apart from battery life and performance. Cameras are similar so yeah not worth 1500 for upgrading
A whole video to say that the 24u is not an upgrade from the s23u.. so what? 99% of the people that will buy s24u will not come from s23u! I switched from the pixel 7 pro and there's no comparison, pixel is a sad joke next to the s24u.
I know what you mean about not having a screen protector is scary but I had to take my screen protector off as it was mucking up the fingerprint reader badly. Might get another one if I know it won't cause problems

@@akshatbhardwaj2179 yes you are...Samsung phones are craps
@@wasiahmed1547 yeah maybe I am but even people I know have never had issues with a Samsung phone, be it a flagship or a budget one.
Keep in mind Samsung displays are used in iPhones - they're not crap. OLED can be damaged very very easily.
Very on point review. I went from S22 Ultra to S24 Ultra
I'm actually in the group that loves my Samsung, but I don't thing in coughing up a thousand plus bucks for the latest one, my S22 takes incredible photos and I'm sticking to it, maybe later on I'll change, but not as of now
No shame in that, if you can't get much benefit out of the Ultra there is 0 point. At the end of the day, it still is just a phone.
I have Note 20 Ultra and my wife has S24 Ultra. We had the 20, 22 Ultra's, S5, S8 plus, Note 9. I think ima upgrade to S24 Ultra also.
I'm still rocking my S23 Ultra, I was going to upgrade mainly because of the flat display. I'm one of the people that isn't a fan of the curved displays lol. I think I'm gonna hold on to my S23 Ultra until the next release. Thanks for your all content! I wish you nothing but the best
I believe the S25 series is already out.
Went from the Note 20U to the S23U. My first "S" phone since the S5. I was always a Note guy.
I have gone 2 years without a screen protector. Minor scratches that are hardly visible and you really have to look for them to find. Pixel 6 Pro.
Of course it’s not worth it. No phone will ever be worth $2 grand on launch, unless everyone’s salaries rise up by 50%.
I'm currently shopping around for a new phone after 4 years with a refurbished Note 9. I dropped it last week, and it cracked the screen, plus I'm having lag issues when commenting on UA-cam videos. 😆
You're absolutely right; even though I really want it, I can't justify the price due to how I use my phone/what I use it for. So, I'm looking at the refurbished/renewed Note 20 and the S Ultra series 21-23. I just really want a nice camera because my children are young and I want to take lots of quality pictures without having to pull out our Nikon every time the kids are doing something cute. lol
So, I probably WON'T be buying it...even though I REALLY want it.
@@stevanb.2590What? Lmao.
@@Argonak1 S24U is pure trash when it comes to display, sound, camera quality and battery life. The rest is probably good...
@stevanb.2590 Lol I got news for you and you aren't going to like it.
The other ones aren't as Good.
They did the same thing with the s23,they tweaked a couple of things and increased the price like they will do every year to make more money. I own the s24 and it's the camera that is the biggest improvement but not worth the $350 increase.
Glad i watched this. You just saved me from upgrading from my S23 Ultra. I’ll wait for the next. Thanks… and you just earned a subscriber.
I have an S22 ultra and will be upgrading to a S24 ultra and everything you're saying makes me feel more confident that I chose this device
Just got one for £30 a month less than my iphone 13 pro and £30 a mongh less too. It's a no brainer
The worst part also Samsung and Pixel ohones do NOT hold their values. Hold on to your money!!
I was on a Note 9 so with all the available stackable preorder incentives it felt like a no brainer. It's a kitchen sink phone that'll last me a long time.
Learned a lot of details from this review compared to a lot that came out. Thanks!
I don't know if this happens in all apps or just a handful of them but after 10+ years using an iPhone, late notifications is something I can't not cope with
Never had any issues everything is right on time as soon as it lands in my inboxes I am notified.
While I loved my S23 Ultra, getting basically what I paid for it in trade a year later to upgrade was an easy decision. I love this phone, and like the nerd that I am I also preordered the OnePlus 12 so it's been awesome toggling between the 2.
Toggling between 2 Android phones ? I'd understand if you had an iPhone but Android to A Droid is just the same experience 😅
Nice video! What about the fingerprint if you put screen protector? Works well ?
I use Spigen, no issues - I've just registered my fingers 2 times and it's solid!
Funny how S23 Ultra is more expensive than the S24 Ultra here in Canada (at least in Southern Ontario) xD
Why no UA-camrs told us that the anti glare coating was only on the S24 Ultra and does not include the S24 and S24 Plus?3:11
Literally every phone reviewer mentions this 😂
Whats annoying is that around launch, there was so much misleading information that even I had assumed the anti glare screen was also on the S24 series (plus and regular).
This is common knowledge. I've seen just about every review say this. I've watched a ton of s24 content.
His whole point is towards people that own a s23 ultra. This was stupid. I switched from the Z Fold 4... couldnt be happier.
You're a s24 ultra user right now?
@@locationtrack710 No. Keeping my 15PM.
you are smart, Samsung is second rate, anyone telling you differently is flat out lying.
Now you have a bathtub in the screen to look at
Those saying "it's just a phone" must be Apple users.
Problem is especially in europe and the UK there is no competition
Mosty apple and Samsung on contract phones
The phone that only comes close is the oneplus 12 that you can only buy outright
This is a major problem in the industry
I have the s24 ultra and I wouldn't buy samsung again
Reasons are price and you'd don't get much extra
Battery tech in these phones are terrible.
My battery last all day on one charge sounds like you have a defective device I suggest taking it in to get look at
I used to have the S22 Ultra. I am so very happy that I upgraded to the S24 Ultra. To me the S24 Ultra is far more better then what I used to have.
How much u pay
@@SiN-e3x I did not pay my phone outright. I am paying monthly on my S24 Ultra. I got my phone during pre orders.

"this video isnt for you if youre coming from a 5 year old phone"
**slowly hides my iPhone 11**
In my professional opinion, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, while a capable device, may not be considered the best in its class. However, the subsequent release of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra marked a significant improvement, solidifying its position as a top-tier smartphone. Furthermore, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is anticipated to surpass its predecessor, offering even more advanced features and capabilities.

Just use the Samsung screen protector, and you keep the anti glare perfectly in pkace. The negative reviews for this screen protector are just not correct, and mostly, user errors during installation.

Umm, GSM Arena also stated that they could not really test the full brightness capability due to inclement weather.. please be totally clear on facts..
Milking the shit out of the S24 ultra with recycled thumbnails
The question is, is it still not worth it even if you would trade in an s23 ultra making the cost around the 350-400 mark with samsung trade in/discounts?
I love drawing. And it's not much different.. I hate the curb edge.. New phone doesn't have curb edge..
AI is the last thing on my list when it comes to picking a phone. I do a lot with my phone, but unless it is something that works in the background it's not a feature I care about. The same as the camera. I want crisp clear pictures with a good zoom and great video. Some people care about all the stuff it can do, I point and click and am done.
The speakers on the s24 ultra are not as good as those on the iphone 15 pro max.
As for the previous Samsung devices -
the night video recording on the s24 ultra is actually better than on the s23 ultra.
Original Samsung anti reflective screen protector works perfectly, its a bit more reflective then the screen itself, but you are safe at least.
Just switched from iPhone had a 23 ultra now a 24 and I'll never go back to iPhone but in reality I like my 23 more
I like watching videos of what phone I’m getting I’m comeing from a iPhone 14 Pro Max and definitely looking forward to getting the ultra was going to try for the 23 but for some reason it was more than the 24 so went for the 24
So I am rocking the S22 Ultra, do you think an upgrade is okay now or should I wait for the 25 Ultra?
S26 Ultra will be better
The S23 Ultra did get all the AI features that the S24 Ultra has. 🙂
I have a difficult choice. S24 or fold 5 What do you recommend?
S24 if you live in th U.S
If not the Fold 5
S24 Ultra. Had a few foldables before, still some odd choices in the UI/UX, contrary to what many people says durability is not an issue.
The fold 6 will come out in about 3-4 months so if you want the fold I’d wait.
I haven't used a screen protector in 3 plus years, no scratches, no regrets.
So your saying is good to get dirt cheap just like new refurbished 512 GB S23 Ultra 📱 $900 including Socal tax for 24 months $38.13 . Or should I hold my S10 for 2025 May so I could grab S24 Ultra for $36 for 24 months? I still use my S10 without any problems and also battery last full useage from 7AM~6PM still got 20% battery life. Oh yeah thanks to Spigen armored case which saved my S10 2024 now and probably until I get S23 or S24 Ultra refurbished.
How ypu think ss per your experience - Google Pixel 8Pro make better pictures and video then S24Ultra?
I bought it solely because on no curve screen, I hated the S23 ultra because of the curve screen.
i myself own s22 ultra went to samsung store to check the 24ultra, i was like no point of upgrade, there is not a huge camera improvement its minor improvement not something for me to consider upgrade maybe s25 ultra but unless samsung improve the video recording and photo im not gonna upgrade
Same here!
why not get the Samsung screen protector to keep same display capability's?
Got mine for under 700 and they gave me 750 credit for an S22 5g trade in No complaints
I have the note 8 and recently it seems it has gotten slower and less responsive then I had remembered. Is Samsung getting shady?!
No, its just old.
👍
I'm keeping my s24ultra for several years as long as it's working
It is a fantastic phone and I don't see it giving you any problems in a handful of years
Does applying screen protector on the phone will void/affect the anti glare coating? I heard everyone is saying that. Beat the purpose of the anti glare, that what i meant. Thank you.
It does. It is a compromise that you have to do or get the one that Samsung sells
does the samsung screen protector really help with retaining the anti-glare coating? - I didn't think it did, that may be worth looking into, because the coating on the S24 ultra is a game changer
@@valismind I saw another video I think it is from Mark's tech or something, it is not as good as the screen but it is not as bad as the glass ones.
