That was a lovely episode... Did you enjoy the Scallops with the Coral (roe) on... New Zealand is such a clean country with beautiful waters... There is so much to enjoy there.... Thanks for the upload...
"You know you miss something, but you really don't know how much you miss it until you're doing it again." Totally. I love that rush I get when returning to something I love that I haven't done in a while.
Cheers to Rick and Vicki for taking us all on a scallop harvest! Super cool to learn about this native species and how they enjoy it in NZ. I had to watch it a second time for the commentary and picked up all the laughs. Ask Rick what his pet sting ray name is? 😂 Looking forward to next week’s video especially if it’s the boat repairs, hey it’s what got you all in NZ. 😉 😊
My bride and I totally love scallops ‼️ we used to dive for them when we lived in Maine. From ocean floor to a pan of butter and garlic to tummy in 30-min. And you are right, doesn't get any fresher. Never saw roe before. Great episode guys and nice 52-footer. ✨💕🌊🌬⛵️🏝👙🌞✨
What a wonderful New Zealand couple you had the pleasure of accompanying on a scallop hunting trip? Thank you for sharing another wonderful video packed with nice people, impressive landscapes, and an inspiring friendship.
I spent many a summer afternoon as a kid harvesting scallops in the Gulf of Mexico, off the mouth of the Weeki Wachie river in Florida. We'd start at low tide and free dive down 12 ft, and kept going until the sand sharks showed up, or the tidal increase overcame our lung capacity! Great memories of chasing them down, they were frisky in the warm water.
I must have eaten old inland, poorly prepared scallops because every last one has been rubbery, tasteless inedible. I do not eat them, calamari, shrimp or lobster. More for you!
That's awesome, I scallop every year in Florid and enjoy the heck out of it. the only difference is we're scalloping in 3-4ft of water and the water temp is a heck of a lot warmer.
14:05 "you know you miss something, but you really don't know how much you miss it until you're doing it again" Amen. I just got my first passport stamp in over 2 years. I knew I needed it but I didn't realize just how much I needed it until I was there.
Love starting my Sunday morning off with the Wynns. I get to live my dreams through you guys. Sad that someone has to put a thumbs down for such a great video.
You meet the most amazing people! Thanks again for sharing your adventures with us. It's chilly and rainy here, so I was shivering in sympathy as you went diving.
Oh WOW! I adore Scallops! A First time for me also to learn about their having that many eyes and being able to jump. Thank you! A day is never wasted when one learns something new Thanks for saving my day! And Every Sunday ! You are the only bright spot in my week! Love you both sooo Much!
That looks delicious! Although a cold gather. Glad you got a break from the boat projects. Thanks to Rick and Vicki for letting us all invade their home.
That looked like a very fun day with your scallop-hunting hosts. Even though it was unexpected to them I really appreciated watching the boat tour and it makes it more meaningful since it's a full-time live-aboard couple's boat. Honestly, how were the scallops with the roe attached? I love sea scallops, but as you mentioned, they don't sell them like that in the stores or at a restaurant. It's also nice to see you getting away from the daily boat-work and have a little fun, even if it was only 58 degrees.
@@Andy_M986 Do the extra parts taste the same as those on other clam species? Green clams are my favorite that way. Muscles are very strong, which is good, too.
Years ago, in Shizuoka I was introduced to thinly cut raw sea scallops. Ever since then, I never had any cooked, grilled, seared, you name it sea scallops anymore. I cannot stand the taste or texture of prepared scallops. But, very fresh and raw. A delicacy as good as it can ever get.
A beautiful day, spent with beautiful friends. I really enjoyed meeting your new friends, touring their beautiful boat. Very spacious living quarters. Loved the kitchen. Dinner was very inviting. Never seen how to catch Scallops 'til now. Awesome. Didn't know anything about them, 'til this video. Thank you for sharing. Loved it!
So nice of Rick and Vicki for their hospitality and tour of lovely boat. Mouthwatering scallops! The sting ray was right on cue. Another time, hope you can cover more about how sealife copes with toxins and pollutants. I know that some higher up the food chain, such as tuna & shark, are likely to have higher concentrations than smaller fish.
Beautiful boat and really lovely hosts. Very kind of them to let you (and all of us) see around! But I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. It was super clean I couldn't let anyone do a tour of my house like that
Brings back memories. My first solo scuba dive was diving for scallops in NZ probably very close to where you were too. I had clearer water. The scallops were amazing. PS: your hosts for the day have a beautifully kept home/boat.
Thanks for taking us along on your scallop dive. It was wonderful to watch. great inspiration to get back to projects done and getting back in the water.
That’s so lovely seeing you both having a delicious meal with another boating neighbour. What a scrumptious feast. It is a beautiful boat your visiting. Living the dream
You both make Sunday’s great for me! Now I’m going to buy some scallops! Won’t be fresh like you got but will still be yummy! Have a great week and can’t wait till next Sunday! Keep the videos coming PLEASE😁
So many of us fans truly adore the people you include and meet on your adventures. The water cold yet the warmth of great company and excellent fresh catch, well I just thank you two and your hosts for this lovely video.
a scallop and a clam fell in love and got married....it didn't work out because they were _two shellfish_ The real reason they got divorced was that an oyster tried to _mussel_ in on the action. Even gave the clam a pearl necklace. You'd better _bivalve_ that he _shelled_ out plenty for that
This inspires me to get back in the water and free dive again. We’ve had throngs of tourists here, so avoiding the water of late. Thx for the message 🌺🤙🏽🙏🏼
I'm in Eleuthera, Bahamas and have been following you since you were here years ago and had a flat tire on the way back from Lighthouse Beach. You are my favorite cruising channel; helped me get through several storms, along with some kaliks! Those scallops look delicious! Hope you made jewellery and napkin holders with the empty shells #recycle! Be safe guys!
A very good day out on the water. Boating community people are some of the best neighbors. I always look forward to your videos. I hope you have a great week ahead. The temperature is starting to drop a bit here in Georgia now.
I barely saw a 'home party' where the crowd not ended up in the kitchen. :) That's the source of the food and drinks. Of course everyone meets up there. :D Enjoy your stay in NZ! I can't wait to visit that beautiful country again.
Wow beautiful boat thank you for allowing them to share it with us always interesting to see other types of boats. Thanks for sharing your life guys again ❤️❤️❤️
Okay I have a complaint it just wasn't long enough LOL❤ we need more LOL I love Sundays and you guys are one of my favorite boating channels! And I have never had scallops so that was very interesting to see you guys actually Harvest and then cook them so it was really fun to watch! Thank you guys so much for sharing... and I look forward to your next post❤😎⛵😏
So envious stuck down here in the Northshore of Auckland in lockdown. This is the holiday weekend that we would normally do our first dive for scallops at Gt Barrier Island. Come visit us in the summer at our bach, drinks are cold but the welcomes always warm!!!
Scallops.... YUM! And since Covid... we've not been out to dinner to be able to have them! My mouth watered through the entire video! Glad you had a great day! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Rick and Vicki for allowing us on board your sailing home! She is wonderful.

Le Heathers
His name’s Ray but he had a successful band, “The Police”, so he generally goes by Sting. 😉😉😉
Thanks Wynns and thanks to Rick and Vicki for allowing us on board for the tour and catch adventure. Beautiful boat and beautiful video!👍👍👍💝💝💝

Do you also eat the roe, since you harvest them? Perhaps it's only those who eat bought ones that don't?
What a lovely couple! You meet the nicest people.
I love seeing y’all’s uploads on a Sunday morning… Great start to a nice day off…
Y’all come back now ya’ hea.
What a sweet couple. Thanks for sharing them.

What a great mini adventure! Thank you Vicki and Rich for sharing your home with all of us - Royal We!
Don't you love that us viewers are part of the royal 'we'. So sweet of Nikki.
