I bought one new in 2016 one of the last to be made. It is the finest vehicle that I have ever owned.

I’ve had a Disco 4 since new in January 2014. It has been fantastic, nothing major has gone wrong. Engine, gearbox, drivetrain, electrics - the only thing to fail after 10 years was the electric boot-latch and that was cheap to fix. It is handsome, drives beautifully, is epic off-road (I’m in Australia) and immensely practical. I literally still cannot find another car good enough to replace it - including the Disco 5!

@@GoneFishin247 I guess it depends on the object? I haven’t really experienced that, anything large you just stick on the opened tailgate and slide straight in (the floor is carpeted and completely flat). With grocery shopping I usually leave the tailgate up and drop stuff straight in over the top of it. What I have experienced is sometimes it’s hard to reach things in the boot that are just behind the rear seats if the tailgate is down - it’s a long reach and unlike most car reviewers on UA-cam I don’t have a “long torso”, just long legs!

@@gadgetphilosophy8290 The only feature I sort of miss from more modern cars is radar-assisted cruise control, otherwise it's all good. Throw your mobile on a holder and plug it in, boom you've basically got bluetooth Apple CarPlay. I don't miss any of the other "touch screen" gimmicks on newer cars, I like having proper buttons for things! Oh, and the parking sensors don't go nuts when driving around day-to-day like newer cars either, that's also nice. The only car I can maybe think of upgrading to is a 2018 Range Rover, but that's an extra hundred grand and only has 5 seats. So.... yeah. Who would have thought it would be so annoying to be completely happy with what I've already got?!

The perfect car 👍 equally at home on long motorway journeys and off-road in the mountains. Yes, it does hold its price - I bought my 2016 Landmark version a year ago (one of the very last made) - only one previous owner and only 34k on the clock and looked almost brand new - cost me almost £40k - but well worth it - I love it. My only complaint is the lack of blind-spot mirrors. If you had not specified the radar blind spot option when new there is no standard mirror option and the radar option cannot be retro-fitted. Other than that it's absolutely perfect. I did go to PowerfulUK and upgraded the filament bulbs to LED which makes reversing much safer (not headlights, though, those are HID) and the replacement sealed LED fog lights are much better and stay clear. It's a far better vehicle, IMHO, than the current Discovery 5, which is why i bought the Landmark rather than the 5. It will likwly be the last car I will own as I plan on keeping this one. 👍

I'd love one to replace my Freelander 2. However, every time I watch an 'LR Time' video it reminds me of why I keep the relatively easy to maintain, and far more reliable, FL2.

I’ve got a D4 2014. It’s on 180,000 miles. Original engine. The issue with these is people buy them relatively cheap and think they can run them on a shoe string. They are expensive to maintain. If you want cheap running costs and don’t mind losing the luxury, buy a shogun or Land Cruiser

Had my 2015 Disco HSE for 4 years now. Wish I'd bought one longer ago. It's not perfect (what car is?), and shows a bit of British Leyland type bodgy engineering in places, and it's not cheap to run, but it's brilliant.

I have had two 2016 Landmark trim LR4s. Absolutely love them but with each, I purchased used and needed to put in $9k and $13k respectively to get them all sorted. They do require a good deal of regular maintenance and repairs and you need to be ready for that, but they are just the best to drive and such cool vehicles. I have two extra large dogs and the rear compartment area is perfect and allows them to sit up and look out while driving, given its boxy height characteristics. If you can find a 2016 Landmark, buy it. They were the highest trim level ever offered in this vehicle and only in 2016 model year. Rather poor. Very complex machines that are often run quite ragged. Just make sure you get one with good service history and a comprehensive drive and inspection before purchasing. When you do. Find a good Apple just make sure that you service it regularly take some pride in it everybody I know that has one has a second car like a small Toyota Yarisbecause they expected at least two times a year something is going to go wrong

@@jonjones6583 absolutely not, but you need to have the correct financial position to run one. It is the best vehicle at combining the luxury of a Jaguar or a Bentley with the off-road capability of a Toyota as well as obviously being a status symbol, but it’s due to the fact that it is a multipurpose highly: Plex luxury vehicle which results in expensive bills, remember the more moving parts, the more things there are to go wrong when you combine a highly complex luxury vehicle with your ability to go anywhere then They’re always the people that neglect them or try and buy them without the correct financial resources and end of neglecting them, but there is also a group of people that buy them with the correct financial resources and who look after them accordingly I would get one if I had the money to maintain this, but I still would make sure that I had like a Toyota Hilux or a another car. My grandmother had one and she drives once a week or less so hers is always reliable but most people I know who have one have another car too. Buy it if you want the best and can afford the best. Don’t buy one to for the status. If you live on a dirt road on a street that has not been updated in Google street view since 2007 then buy one. But for a city a Lexus 4x4 is just as nicr
