He rocks!! He is better than anybody I've trained with. I remember I trained with this lady in my 20s. She worked on a cruise ship when she was young. every time I went to my lessons. She was dressed in her cruise ship costumes. And she would hold her little dog the whole time. I still laugh about my lessons with her. I think I went because I enjoyed her . I truly learned nothing. But great memories.
OMG, the ending! I laughed out loud. You're such a trip, Mark. This is a great exercise - all about resonance and agility. Just doing it with you made me feel I had more control. I love it.
The fact that you don't speak in these warm up videos all the while communicating effectively and giving realtime tips is amazing. The way I figure it you either go back after recording and simply out of repeated use, remember what you were previously thinking (basically verbatim) and include the text in the post edit, or you have a script rolling by on an iPad teleprompter, which is used as the source for the text added in post. No matter how it's done, your warm up videos are remarkable and super helpful.

Classic ending performed by a classic master. Thank you for the time, Mark. I have to say, I watch other vocal teachers teach, too. Because I am an avid learner and I enjoy gaining as much knowledge as I can apply in my life. One thing Mr. Baxter always hits on is maintaining resonance. It’s very similar to Victoria’s Victorious Vocal tips in Victoria’s lecturing on feeling and maintaining that “ring” of fluid, continuous volume and tone. Simply observing. I like finding these connections. Always curious if Mark has more to say (or has past videos) specifically regarding resonance. I know his “Want a Smooth Voice? Thank you Mark. You are greatly appreciated. Well it's been 7 months of practicing to get my voice back. My results from doing these exercises daily have been amazing and well worth the effort. Thank you for sharing your professional expertise. If I were to grade myself, I am a better singer than I was 20 years ago when I stopped singing. I have lost a little of that clarity of sound, but I am now more accurate and able to transition through the rough spots easier. My goal was to sing well enough as a Lead in a new barbershop quartet and I am now starting one, with some quality singers !! Thanks again.
It's like a new one always comes along right when I need it. Thanks a ton for these and for sharing your knowledge. And yes, the text-only lessons and exercises rule.
Hello Mark and thanks for another great exercise! I have noticed something interesting. When enetering into the section E2 I sometimes get a bit sleepy and it is rather often. It must be the frequency of the sound.
@@voicelessondotcom It is quite possible. The feeling I get is more on the sleepy side than dizzy. But they have very much the same effect. I Remember when I was a kid going with my parents in the car; The humming sound from the motor was somnolent. Maybe we react differently to various frequences; just like people are different. Again; my hat off to these many exercises!👌I understand they are not easy to construct.
Thank you Mark, Started following your videos last year, and in this, I got some confidence to put some song out! Your warm ups have helped me alot! God bless you
Excellent exercise for onsets and offsets, too! I screen captured this video on my Iphone so I can practice anywhere, anytime. In a park, in the car, on a walk, etc. I also try to last as long as I can on one breath. Brief, a lot of good things out of this exercise.
There's a lot more than the vowel that determines the position of your mouth when singing. The pitch, volume and timbre also figure into what size and shape resonator is optimal. The good news is that singing is instinctive. The bad news is - so is inhibition! So, it's important that your jaw remain loose to accommodate the wide variety of movements necessary. If you struggle with jaw tension - the first two videos on my shorts playlist can help: ua-cam.com/users/shorts9KbBHlB9Yso
Starting intermittent fasting, feeling better from long haul Covid symptoms from March 2020, ergo adding you back to my routine. Missed your lessons. Didn’t complete my hundred day goal again. Always a new goal to strive for. Cheers. I also like your messages on LinkedIn.
Mark, I struggle to get down to E2 satisfactorily. A2 is not to bad. G2 is a possibility (which is important since one of my tunes uses that note). Generally speaking, how long do you think it would take and are there any other exercises on your channel that might help? (I play the Lottery hoping to win the cash to pay you for all the help I have been getting for free.) Thank you so much for all your efforts given without cost to all of us here on UA-cam!!!!!
There is a limit to both sides of our vocal range (blame your mom and dad if you're not happy!). The physical size of your larynx plays a big part in this just like it does with every other musical instruments. Small instruments can't produce really low notes. So focus on getting a better quality out of G2 by using a vocal fry just before singing it. Also, there's no shame in raising the key of the song that requires G2 so your voice is in a better zone.
Mark, awesome as always! Can you please do a post COVID singing recovery video? I need exercises to regain my breathing in addition to all the great vocal ones you have. Where did my lung capacity go lol?
I currently have worked with 30+ people that have had covid and no two have experienced the same aftermath. So there's no standard approach. I recommend you start here: ua-cam.com/video/w5JCFlTO2Ss/v-deo.html
Awesome Exercise Mark……as always!!! Three questions: 1. Is it good to try these on all the vowels? I love it that you encourage us to allow the micro flaws and feel the sound internally 2. You mention not smile - there are teachers that active suggest you have a smile/internal smile - can you please comment on why or why not you would recommend it. I find it a little unatural and awkward 3. Nothing to do with this video - I eagerly await your new book - any ETA on when we may expect it? Thanks!!!!
1. Absolutely! 2. I would ask those other teachers (and you) why we don't need to smile when speaking an EE. Smiling alters the timbre - so I'd rather have the option to smile or not when singing. 3. Hopefully towards the end of '22.
@@voicelessondotcom Thanks Mark. Re the the teachers - my understanding is it is supposed increase the resonating space/cavity inside your mouth and lift the soft palate. While It mentally makes sense however the forced smile and raising of the cheek bones feels unnatural to me and sometimes increases my tension. For Me - I can speak or sing the EE without the smile. I would prefer to smile when the emotion in the song or in my communication or life brings it out naturally Look forward to your book!
Thankyou for not talking too much! i can think off some youtube singing teachers that need to learn this too.

I have been following you since 2020 and practice on a regular basis. Thank you and God Bless you!
Glad to help out!
Haha that ending cracked me up, once again amazing lesson
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for posting Kennith! I'm glad you took advantage of the video and put in the work - happy singing!
It's like a new one always comes along right when I need it. Thanks a ton for these and for sharing your knowledge. And yes, the text-only lessons and exercises rule.
Glad to help out - just in time!
excellent and very generous teacher
Glad you liked it!
Hello Mark and thanks for another great exercise! I have noticed something interesting. When enetering into the section E2 I sometimes get a bit sleepy and it is rather often. It must be the frequency of the sound.
Many get dizzy when vocalizing really low because of the loss of air. Perhaps that's what's making you sleepy?
@@voicelessondotcom It is quite possible. The feeling I get is more on the sleepy side than dizzy. But they have very much the same effect. I Remember when I was a kid going with my parents in the car; The humming sound from the motor was somnolent. Maybe we react differently to various frequences; just like people are different. Again; my hat off to these many exercises!👌I understand they are not easy to construct.
You r Angel of earth. More and more idea achieved from your video. Wish long live and more contribute
Thank you - glad to help!
Excellent , great exercise ..thanks mark 👏👏👏👏
Glad to help!
Thank you Mark, Started following your videos last year, and in this, I got some confidence to put some song out! Your warm ups have helped me alot! God bless you
That's great Simon!
Yuppiiii new special video and technic ❤️❤️
Glad you're happy!
sounds and feels to me like a very useful and healthy practise! thanks for your impulse, man!
You're welcome!
Excellent exercise for onsets and offsets, too! I screen captured this video on my Iphone so I can practice anywhere, anytime. In a park, in the car, on a walk, etc. I also try to last as long as I can on one breath. Brief, a lot of good things out of this exercise.
Glad you're using it so many ways!
Another amazing video Mark! I was wondering if you have any videos that talk about optimal mouth opening depending on which vowel we are singing?
There's a lot more than the vowel that determines the position of your mouth when singing. The pitch, volume and timbre also figure into what size and shape resonator is optimal. The good news is that singing is instinctive. The bad news is - so is inhibition! So, it's important that your jaw remain loose to accommodate the wide variety of movements necessary. If you struggle with jaw tension - the first two videos on my shorts playlist can help: ua-cam.com/users/shorts9KbBHlB9Yso
SO GREAT
Glad it helps!

BRILLIANT. You get me to do your exercises whenever I click onto your videos ... Voodoo?
Keep up the good work of inspiring us singers.
hahaha - would voodoo work on a Shaman? Either way - I'm glad to help!
Starting intermittent fasting, feeling better from long haul Covid symptoms from March 2020, ergo adding you back to my routine. Missed your lessons. Didn’t complete my hundred day goal again. Always a new goal to strive for. Cheers. I also like your messages on LinkedIn.
You get a free pass due to Covid! Welcome back!
If this wasn't such a great exercise, i would jump straight to 6'35" over and over again!🤣
Glad you like it! :)
Ah, Mark, always so fun and informative! Thanks very much for this exercise.
Thanks for posting Amy!
Mark, I really like all your videos whether you are talking or not. The lyrics are cool, as always ❤️
Thanks for the comment, Birgit!
The ending was cute!
It's true - no one wants me to speak!
Great teacher……
Thank you!
I’ll try it with the AAHH vowel really much harder for me! ❤️
Good move!
Love your videos!
Thanks for posting!
Thank you so so so much sir I am getting good results by practicing 1 year💐🎉🥳🥳
Keep it up!!!
Luv it no talking is awesome
Glad you like it!
Nice! Love the ending. 🙂
hahaha - Glad you liked it!
Awesome Exercise Mark……as always!!!
Three questions:
1. Is it good to try these on all the vowels? I love it that you encourage us to allow the micro flaws and feel the sound internally
2. You mention not smile - there are teachers that active suggest you have a smile/internal smile - can you please comment on why or why not you would recommend it. I find it a little unatural and awkward
I would prefer to smile when the emotion in the song or in my communication or life brings it out naturally
Look forward to your book!
I also laughed at the end. Very good work! Thx.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Haha the end is so funny. The content is briliant, as always!
Thanks for commenting!
