Thanks! See you tomorrow!
I got three lessons with Mark about 30 years ago! I could not believe how much my voice improved. Anyone who lives in the Boston area or can get there, should consider lessons I’m quite sure he’s still teaching full-time.
Simply awesome! Your videos are always so inspiring and full of great information and exercises. Thanks!!!
Thanks for posting!
Being soul and RnB singer this is so cool. I work on your previous videos with my daughter she is one years old . and loves practicing with you. ❤️
hahaha - I'm in the family now!
@@voicelessondotcom yes you are. 😁
Great stuff. Mark, could you be so kind as to make a video about singing distortion?
I second this
Mark I've been dealing with a couple of different "issues" since contracting Covid for the second time right after New Years 2024, one is the pain and secondly is trying to keep my voice and my vocal cords lubricated .. I was watching PAUL MCCARTNEY doing a show with episodes on Hulu and he was always chewing on something, I figured it was for that reason.. Dealing with gum with dentures is pretty much a no-go,-any advice coach?
The lingering effects of COVID are varied and terrible! The dryness you're experiencing is due to muscle tension restricting the saliva glands around the larynx. I suspect the tension is due to over compensating due to swelling along your vocal tract (also the source of your pain). When the voice doesn't respond as expected we unconsciously increase effort. So, make a conscious effort to use the minimum effort possible when singing. That means extending your warm up routine with gentle, low volume, exercises. It means allowing your voice to sound bad while your brain figures out a better coordination. Be gentle and control will return.
What I love about Baxter is that he's very realistically scientific in music and his stuff works perfectly with everyone unlike some other vocal coaches out there who don't give you everything unless you buy thier products. Mark is the BEST
I really love this gentleman video singing warm ups❤❤❤
My favorite vocal teacher. This tutorial is LIT!!!!!
Thank you for sharing your gift with us. I know so many of us have grown so much from watching and applying your tools!

Hi Mark,
I just joined choir and found your instructions. Which videos should I start with?
Congratulations - and welcome to my channel! Do this routine every day: ua-cam.com/video/z_EYyWesCKQ/v-deo.html
Thanks!.
Une pédagogie sympathique, démonstration par l'exemple c'est comme ça qu'on avance , un grand Merci M.Baxter pour vos vidéos.🙏🍀
De rien ! Heureux que vous ayez apprécié la leçon.
Man! Awesome lesson in so many areas of my voice range, dark and brighter sides and the harmony! I like the fact that I can make my voice brighter without the belt. Although there is a time and place for that. I want to take some lesson. I am convince. Thanks, CJ II Seattle USA

The last part🤣🤣🤣 Thanks sir for an enjoyable voice workout🥰🥰🥰🥰
You're welcome! Glad you liked it!
Oofa. Neat stuff, but not the best for me at the start of theday. Should've gone with a simpler one, but I'll definitely come back to this one when I'm a bit more in the groove with daily singing.
Use this one instead: ua-cam.com/video/z_EYyWesCKQ/v-deo.html
thank you Mark! This is fun for me. Hope you are well
Fun is the goal! All good on my end - hope the same with you!
Your voice sounds so amazing through the shure sm7b.
Thanks - I really like that mic!
Happy 2023! Thanks for all the music!
Cheers, Nicki!
One of my friend, who happens to be an amazing singer has recently developed issues with her vocals....she has seen a lot of doctors but they are unable to cure it....they call it "vocal fatigue"her vocal chords hurts even when she talks and is getting worst everyday.
Is there any way you can help please 🥺
I help singers like your friend every day!
@@voicelessondotcom what do we need to do?
@@halfnotedown6074 You don't need to do anything! She should do what her doctor told her and rest her voice for a week and then seek out someone to guide her towards better behaviors when singing. She can reach me by email at mbaxter@voicelesson.com.
I find a whole step lower is better for my fach. I'll harmonize way above though. Thanks, boss.
Good idea!
Cool!!😂🌟👏..I love 💗it! .your such a devoted singer/musician,teacher.
Thanks - happy to help!
Woah, I’ve been doing this video along with a bunch of others every day now for a long time and I’m starting to be able to do that soulful belt at the end. thanks, Mark
Yes! Go for it!
This is great, I am not warming up atm, but I noticed my lips going back and forth with the vowel formations without even meaning to!😂
Perfect!
Added to my vocal library. Beginning to turn and tune my ear to harmony now..😊 you are a rock star!!! 😘
No - YOU - are a rock star!
Hey Mark been using your warmups for about 6+years, just wanted to ask what may be a silly question : Does using your falsetto for high notes have the same effect for warming up your voice as reaching up there with your head voice? Any clarification would be appreciated and thanks again for all your great work :)
Falsetto and head voice are terms used to describe very similar sounds. Some will argue that head voice has a slightly richer quality. But all vocal registers are simply mental boundaries used to create a range of similar sounding notes. More than the label you give a sound, what promotes better behavior is the comfort and control you demonstrate by intentionally asking for a particular pitch, quality, volume and duration. When you get exactly what you asked for you're all warmed up and ready to rock!
My neighbour was getting annoyed at my warmups, then I rediscovered your channel. Wicked!!!
Cool - but don't cave to the neighbors! Blast this video!
Just the free energy here. One of the reasons singing makes me feel free
One of many reasons!
Just what the groove doctor ordered! Love this, Mark!!

MARAVILLOSO!!! La suma a mi rutina diaria! Gracias, saludos desde Chile!
Encantado de ser parte de tu día!
I've minimal phonotary gap due to which I sound airy and harsh I'm not very audible in crowd areas unless I put extra effort on my vocal cords that strains my voice later. I've read few articles and researched but never found any solution just same old advice of ent to voice rest. Sir are there any exercises to close the gap? as my gap is minimal and not to put strain on my throat while speaking. 🙏
Yes - there are many exercises to encourage the aryteniods to approximate your vocal folds better. Try these: ua-cam.com/video/Nk3UBTHhqnM/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/FVGinJrXGnw/v-deo.html
Bravo, good sir!! Thank you so much for everything that you do for this community! You are truly an inspiration! Stay cool!!
I'm happy to help!
okay… but at some point you have to
engage your body and actually sing!
Absolutely.
The best teacher out there!
Thanks - much appreciated!
Been following you for awhile now!! You’re the best vocal coach!! I have a slight scratch in my voice at time bc of mucus. I take allergy medicine. Not to overshare but I wanted your thoughts on this technique I saw where you hit notes while blowing bubbles in a glass of water through a straw?!? What are your thoughts on what this is used for?
The straw exercise is good for creating back pressure - which places resistance against the air pressure coming up under the vocal folds. It massages the vocal folds by putting pressure on top of them to balance the pressure coming from below. Good to do!
@@voicelessondotcom Thank you soo much!! Time to Rock 🤘🏻
Today is a great day to sing. :D
Absolutely!
I will definitely try this with my guitar tomorrow

Hi. I have a problem with my voice. It is weak most of the time. Like I force too much to talk, people generally say they can't hear me, like the voice has no body, it is so weird. But when I get my real voice back, it happens from time to time, it is powerful, deeper and I put zero effort while talking. I can also actually sing because my voice has a body I can actually travel high and low maybe about 2 octaves of range but when I lose it I have a weak monotone voice like a tin, it has no range . What may be causing this?
The reasons are many: allergies, illness, anxiety, dehydration, etc, etc - but the fact that your voice comes back means it doesn't have to go away. First see a doctor to rule out the health issues - then start vocalizing every day to maintain your voice to its full potential.
@@voicelessondotcom Thanks. I was thinking the anxiety may be the reason? I am definitely very anxious the entire day. But can it make such a big effect? What it may be doing that I need to force to be able to talk? Is it about throat muscles? How can I understand that it is due to anxiety maybe getting an anxiety pill once?
Also, while I was listening to loud music with headphones once in the classroom, the teacher have asked something to me, I answered. Then my classmates told me why I shouted too much but I haven't put any effort there, I just talked normally. This also made me thing the issue might be psychological as I am capable of talking with a powerful voice without struggling.
@@senseme7627 Anxiety is the MOST common reason for vocal issues like yours. You already have your evidence. Work daily with the exercises on my channel. They will help you connect better with your voice - so you trust the sound of it will be there for you in the future. You can do this - no pills needed!
Hi Mark thanks for your video, they really work 👌❤️ Just got a gig in our town library & found myself to be really critical about my voice. Want to enjoy the gig but at the same time be on pitch 100%. IT IS kind of regional promo for my music as Well. But Main reason for me doing IT IS to experience joy of music with other people so we leave uplifted. I am Also playing guitar ať same time. Any tips to relax in formal enviroment? Thanks & all the best, Peter
Congrats on getting the gig! I'm assuming you've heard all the cliches about being in the moment - so I'll skip that. The truth is you'll be the only bully in the room. Keep him busy with playing and singing so the rest of the folks there can enjoy your music. It's not called the gift of music because it makes us creators happy - it's called that because it makes others happy. If you volunteered to shampoo the carpets at the library you certainly wouldn't be happy while laboring through it and you would, no doubt, be disappointed in the result because you're a musician and we are lousy at useful tasks! But everyone else there would be thrilled about it afterwards. Luckily, that bully in your brain picking out every flaw can't be heard by others - until you say his words out loud. So don't! Pitch is not the most important aspect of singing - presence is. So be present. Oops - there's that cliche again!
Thanks Mark, being present IS tricky for me but will keep it on my mind. All the best 👌
@@akustickesrdce4690 If that's tricky, try being A present - as in something for others (rather than focused on yourself). :)
@@voicelessondotcom Hi Mark thanks for your tips, really appreciate you taking time to answer 👌
those would be hard key changes for a singer to nail without being at an instrument!! wow!
It gets easier with practice!
@@voicelessondotcom I just did the whole the whole thing...whew!!!!! winded! Love it tho!
Fantastic - the master
My nephew!
omg...another control challenge! Well, you got me loose, even if I broke up every time your f'ing shirt changed color lol. But truthfully, I tend toward uptight and "careful" for fear of getting it wrong, tho I sing better when relaxed! So yeah, I guess your goofy humor serves a practical purpose. Thank you, Mark. I will be playing this one for some time!
Ya can't be uptight and chill at the same time, Jack. You're gonna have to choose!
Sir, I really love your vocal lessons, and they help me so much.❤❤
But can you suggest how to do ear training? I'm a beginner, and I really have no idea if I'm singing the correct note or not. So can you help me, sir, please?
The best way to become more comfortable with pitch is to get a small keyboard or a guitar.
@@voicelessondotcom Sir, can I buy a ukulele instead?? Is it helpful in learning pitch?
@@heyyyskyyy Yes!

Thanks Mark, great video again, lots of good stuff here. Whish I could gain that vocal freedom & Power you demonstrated in last section.
