Hi Mark, thank you so much.I will do the three week challenge and hope you will notice some improvement.I will be 75 in December and love singing so hope at this age I can improve and become a better singer with more practice. What I have noticed singing seems easier for me now, I never tire and could sing all day and all night. Even though I will be 75 in Dec I feel more like 45 since I have taken up singing.I am growing younger not older with singing and the exercises are so important . Thank you Mark xx🙏🙏🙏
@merilynskaraokecorner6458 goody goody for you - I sung in the house as a kid all the time --- then I did play in bands, had bad habits etc. Now at 78 with health problems Mark has helped because I just want to sing in the house or sit on a park bench and do what i love - my fave pt for the voice that helps heal any issues and for me,now with health problems, it also is calming for the whole body; we are the instrument. Years ago i did this and truly in a few days there was improvement & I find karaoke vids on here and was astounded by the improvement. So, yeah keep going and have fun..🎉🎶
Mark, I was your voice student back in the NYC Ansonia days and I’m so glad you have these videos - they have helped me keep my voice in shape. I am in my 60s now and I am still performing, and I tell everyone I can about your channel and your exercises. The biggest compliment I get is when people tell me, “your voice sounds so young.“ I can really feel the difference when I keep up my practice daily. Thank you, thank you thank you!❤
WOW - the Ansonia days! Wonderful to hear from you, Claudia! And you are spot on - keep vocalizing and your voice will retain its vibrancy. So glad you're performing - represent! :)
Another extremely helpful video. I'm still doing the exercises you gave me and this new video is another fun way to learn how to be an accomplished singer. Many thanks!
Hi Mark! I've been following your videos for a while, and man, have they really helped my voice improve. Started from a beginner, and now im slowly starting to have more confidence in my voice!! I do get a little lost, though, with the videos sometimes. Im not sure which ones I should use for daily practicing as im self-taught. Should i just find what i think works best for me? Looking forward to more videos!!
Hey Mark great video...Can you make an updated version of "Worried about vocal damage?Do this everyday."....What I mean is do a version where you don't talk and just do the hummings of the notes for 15 seconds with a video length of 5 minutes just like the old video, plz plz plz I beg you🙏🥺
You are the best vocal teacher on youtube no competition, it is almost unbelievable you offer these workouts for free! Really grateful for your work! If you add captions of the correct base note we should sing at each segment, it would be perfect.
Heya Mark, I recently watched an interview where you talked about your book, "Split-second Singing", and I was really intrigued by the way you explained your singing philosophy. I’ve been searching for the book online but haven’t been able to find it yet. Has it been published?
Mark unfortunately I stopped the practice for about a year. Now I am back and recognize to my disappointed how much lost. I will practice more because I want to improve. I am at my happiest when I sing well.
Mark, thank you again for your helpful (and funny) lessons! I’ve been watching for a few years now. Would you consider posting a “warm-up/exercise” video for those of us who suffer with chronic bronchitis who have a hard time coming back after weeks of relentless coughing?
Thanks!! I just discovered you yesterday. Feel like found a treasure 🥳 So warming up should start with light and hoody sound then we should go to power? Everymorning my routine is humming on NG, then Liprolls and Fry, If I stuck in the jam and still have time before arriving at work, I do also some Mom Mom. Is-it not a good routine?
Welcome to the channel! Your routine is fine - BUT - like any routine it will become less effective the more you do it. That's because the brain learns how to cheat around the challenges. So mix in other appraoches (like this one) so you always reconnect with your voice every day!
First time doing this exercise! Have seriously damaged my voice in the past by overdoing different vocal exercises. Im going to try this out twice a day for 3 weeks to see what happens!
Always respect what your body tells you - stop if there's any signs of stress or fatigue. Exercises are tools to improve strength and coordination, but must be approached properly.
Hi Mark, your videos have been wonderful and your techniques are so well explained, just a question when doing the AH sound, can we close our mouth to inhale from nose everytime we change the pitch?Again thanks for all this material and i love all of them.
Yes - you can close the mouth during each nasal inhale, but it's much easier to allow the tongue to rise to block the oral cavity. that way the jaw is allowed to just hang and not engage. I do both
Ok, I do this twice a day since you uploaded this and I finally have control over my deep register (I am a bass) and can reach a tone that I wasn't able to sing clean before. 😮
Thanks for sharing how to sing with flexibility first then power by singing the three main vowels "Ee Ah Oo" exercises with breath control release support to maintain a constant pitch over one octave scale movements. As we sing higher or lower, the posture of the mouth also changes shape depending which friendly vowel you chooses to sing.
Your exercises are great! But are scales limiting in this kind of training as the changes the throat has to make become too gradual? Does one need more drastic shifts to help with songs that go from soft verses to belted choruses and back etc?
In my experience - most singers spend lots of time singing songs with those soft verses and big choruses in bedrooms and cars and skip over the foundational skills of proportionate air pressure and independent resonate tuning. But I agree scales are not enough. So I have lots of exercises with various melodies to round out the approach. Use this: ua-cam.com/video/OK5ulRzPIiE/v-deo.html
@voicelessondotcom thanks! That one seems broader and more thorough (with breath and motions) than many other warmups and like that it ends with belting!
I don't recommend thinking in vocal categories - instead target the sound (pitch+volume+tone+duration). Your voice will open up a lot with that change of perspective.
@@voicelessondotcom warm regards here from Malaysia Mark... I was told my tone is soft n weak n thrfore i wasnt good enough for the band, sing not the same tone as the original artists. Heart broken if I couldn't deliver good 4 thm.

That´s great! Can I do it as a first vocal warmup in the morning? Aren´t the glottal stops to harmfull for voice when it´s feeling dusty?
There are no glottal stops in this routine - H's are the opposite motion. So it's a great morning routine!
