I do this everyday. 3 X 15min video rounds so 45 mins in total. However I've adapted it to use Mark's piano scale to do the first round all with 'lips rolls'. The second 15 min round I use Mark's vocalisations on this video which give my vowels a good even work out. And lastly I again use the background piano scales to work my chord closure with bhuh and ghuh sounds. I'm working developing my upper register which I'm seeing I can start hitting the higher notes like never before. Great video, Thanks for sharing this 🌟

Totally agree with you Thom. I have used other sites, one of them since July 2018, and this is pretty much the best one. I love the explanations he gives.
Hey Oliver. If you haven’t already, check out Mark’s new “Epic Warmup for Singers”. I will still do this original warmup, but I will be definitely the new Epic as well, probably on a daily basis. Thanks for sharing, Oliver, that you do this warmup daily. I think my voice deserves going through these 2 warmups 1x day!
So I’ve been doing this for 2 years now. And my voice sounds phenomenal (comparatively lol) and a lot of times I will sing songs or jingles with great accuracy but then other times I miss completely or when I create my own song it takes time to make it sound good. Why is this? Why is it still hard to sing something’s and not others. I always try to trust my vocals to go where there supposed to but I guess somethings I don’t know especially when creating my own song. How do I know what notes to hit? Btw thank you so much Mark Baxter I’m giving you a shout out when I’m on tv
Why is the first day of school or work so tiring when after a few months it's a breeze? Why does time pass so quickly on vacation and drag along when at work? The answer is processing - meaning how much the brain has to work for a given task. When you're very familiar with a song or exercise the brain doesn't work that hard. But when faced with a new melody or, even more strenuous, creating a new melody with lyrics the brain bogs down due to system overload. This shows up in the body as tension and restriction. Inhibition just means your brain hit the pause button while you figure out the best path to sing. Inhibition also makes you doubt what you're creating is good - because it doesn't physically flow. But all that is temporary. Check troublesome notes by singing them in a familiar exercise (like a scale). If it works in a scale then it's not the note that's troubling you - it's the circumstances.
@@voicelessondotcomyou are amazing! Thank you so much. I still come to your video for practice and just realized you replied to me. (Like I was reading my own comment thinking , wow this sound like me😂😂) Your advice has gone a long way and you are right, at my point now it is much easier to sing and even create melodies. I realized I was thinking too much trying to create my own melodies instead of allowing my body to naturally do it's thing
My acting ensemble does this every day before rehearsals and we have such fond memories associated with it! Now I do it before even speaking and cannot thank you enough Mark for helping to access the full extent of my voice! ❤
Released on my birthday hehe! Yo this is truly a great way to start the vocal practice. I find that jumping right into a 'warm up' (they should just call them exercises ... ) can be too heavy, or it takes a long while before you can properly practice the techniques and you can get tired by singing improperly at first. This is so useful... you are gentle and wise :)
*correcting flaws* DON'T CORRECT FLAWS Okay I have some vocal damage and this is helping me recondition my voice, I just didn't realise the extent of it at first, and now I am getting on with regaining some of the quality that used to be there... It is like starting from having to learn to walk again. I have a weirdly low voice, most suitable for meditations. This is the best way to warm up the voice box. Thanks so much. Love your work.
oh my god this is the best warm up video. thank you for singing the whole i didnt realize how subconsciously helpful that is. i am so naturally impatient that you not saying a single word was so helpful and to be able to get notes while i do it!! i dont have to stop and start. i did this laying on the ground to really feel my breath and it was very calming and almost meditative. this is a great warmup to do for anyone. its nice to feel ur voice so readily available
I was a pro singer until about 12 months ago. I had to take a break due family commitments. Since then my daily singing/vocal exercise routine has gradually faded away. This was my daily routine 5/6 days a wk (0n none performance days) 10 mins warm up, 15 mins vocal exercises, 30 mins singing, a 10 min break, 45 mins singing, 10 min cooldown = 2hrs. Now with family stuff all sorted from tomorrow it starts again and this is where I'll be starting. Time to slowly and gradually rebuild that vocal strength and stamina. Thanks Mark.
Dear Mark, I want you to know that I feel you have become a friend. I hang out with you most days and so enjoy your company and the learning. I'm passing it on my young music students and bandmates because these are the best and most effective lessons I've found. Thank you so much for your generosity, spirit, wit and kindness ❤
Hai Sarah, I fully agreed I personally enjoy practicing following Prof Mark you tube. May I know where was the class or vocal camp help , thank you and have a nice day stay happy and healthy
Holy crap. So simple, so effective. Thanks Mark! Day 2: I just did this twice through and figured out to maintain even lower effort and just let the rasp happen. It destroys some of the notes, but I just carry on trying not to let it matter. Same low effort, easy, flutey notes. The rasp is actually starting to clear up!!! This really is the single best vocal warmup, and I’ve tried ‘em all!
Hi Mark, I'm a vocalist who loves to warm up using your 15 minute warm up video during the week leading up to any event. I think that cooling down is as important as warming up, do you have any cool down videos for us to use as a resource, just as we do this one? If you don't , would you consider creating one for all your subscribers? I would use it religiously!
I'm 35 years old and tone deaf, meaning I couldn't sing. I found this Vocal Warm up about 6 months ago and have been practicing it daily when I wake up in the morning. Now, I can sing! I even develop better control when switching between my Chest Voice, Falsetto and Head voice. Dear Mark! You really have no idea how much your Vocal Warm Up lesson has transformed me. A Big Thank you!
Hi Mark, I love this warm up, but it seems like all of the sound in the first humming section is coming out of my nose. Do you have a suggestion on how to focus it out of my mouth? At least when I try your suggestion from another video to put your finger on your nostrils it seems like all the resonance is there. Thanks, Liz
With your mouth closed while humming - separate your teeth by letting the jaw hang. Focus on allowing your lips to buzz or tickle. The air must come through the nose when humming - so that may be what's contributing to your sound - but there is a difference between airflow and resonance.
As a voice actor for DreamWorks & Nickelodeon, I use your videos everyday to prep for studio sessions or auditions. Thanks so much for making these amazing lessons.
I've been doing these warmups twice a dau for the past 4 days and my voice is just feeling more and more free every day especially for high notes and just control when singing. Thank you for this I will be doing them every day
@@voicelessondotcom one thing I am definitely seeing is the voice is literally like a hiking trail if that makes sense, so some parts of the voice are rough because air has never passed through that part of our voice before or at least consistently passed through that part of your voice which causes one's voice to crack or produce a gravely sound. For me in particular I always struggled to get good cord closure when singing higher but the "ahh" part off the warmup really helped me build better cord closure when going high because I actually started allowing air to pass through that part of my voice more consistently by doing this twice a day and the results is truly shocking. So I will just learn to practice areas of the voice that I don't access regularly so that the pathways will become smoother resulting in better vocal control. So consistency is truly key to develop stronger control in areas which are weak in one's voice. So really Thanks for this🙏💯
thank you so much! this is the only vocal warmup i dont feel awkward doing and that i would actually reccomend to someone! I will use this every day now, it actually helped alot too
Pretty sure I’m like half of these 800k+ views. Every day Mark Baxters excellent vocal warm up stretches my vocal muscles and centers my voice. I truly don’t know where I’d be without Mark. I love you Mark.
This warmup is wonderful! I'm a former pro vocalist and have been hoping to get back into it, but my voice has not been cooperating :-) So, this afternoon after trying to sing comfortably and feeling frustrated, I followed your lead here and it was amazing - my voice just opened up and gave me renewed hope. Thank you Mark!!!
I love the advice on the hanging jaw, the resting tongue, and the nose breathing. Just letting the air come back in without any gasping. And no selling blurb! A rare thing. Thank you for this!
Por favor más lecciones de está forma . Son muy Buenas!!! Además, van directo a los ejercicios sin conversar nada!!! Por eso uno los puede tomar como práctica diaria 👏👏👏
Right now that's the case - but if you keep your volume low and slow down through that area you'll coordinate your behavior to have a smooth connection all the way through.
Going forward, I’m planning to sing both warmups each day. Doing these exercises has helped me improve vocal stamina, avoid vocal injury and take on technical singing challenges … all of which are now coalescing and helping me find my own, unique vocal style. Hooray for Hollywood!
Dear Mark Baxter, I'm singing in a Rockband and our Gigs took mostly 4 Hours with 2 breaks inbetween. Our Songs are pretty stressful for my voice. So you have any advice how to sensibly use breaks between our Sets? Sometimes my throat muscles feel a little stiff. I usually Just do some liprolls.
@@voicelessondotcom thanks Mark. Good to know. This warm up is so, so good. I notice a drastic difference in my practice recordings with this and without this.
YOU are ag genius! This is the best warm up in the world. Also your notations on the screen giving helping, loving advice about letting your body make the adjustments on it's own! I love it. Thank you. God bless you!
This is yet another exercise I've added to my daily, pre-gig warmup and I recently discovered something I thought I'd share... A couple of times, during this exercise, I noticed myself getting a bit of a light headed "buzz." At first I thought, "Cool! I'm so into this I'm getting a natural high!" This was followed by yawning. Not so cool. Why? I wasn't taking in enough air in-between scales! If you notice yourself having a similar issue, be sure to take in enough air to comfortably sing the scales with breath to spare. Especially if you're doing this while driving to a gig!!! Also, on the last section, where you cycle through the vowels, when transitioning from the "eee" to "ahhh" don't put a "y" in front of the "ahh" (essentially creating a "yah" sound to "slingshot" yourself through. Rather, try and make a smooth transition from "eee" to "ahh" thus ensuring that the tongue mind its own business and stay out of the action.
Hi Mr Mark . I'm a 16 year old girl and it's been a year since I started taking singing seriously . Thank you so so so much for helping me through my journey and I love you from the bottom of my heart
Good morning Mark just recently found you and lovin what your posting ive been following another vocal coach for while, but really liking your techniques i had a small pro career back in the day in NYC (70s;) and studied under a well know coach there and still play live but as you now as you age the voice doesn't work like it use too :)( at least for me)gotta practice harder but I like your approach and going to keep following thank you :)
Also dealing with an aging voice. Started practicing seriously 16 months ago. Increased my upper range by a semi-tone, but have not been able to get further. My voice is not as smooth as it was, say in 2011, on home recordings I did. It seems inevitable, but Judy Collins still had her full range and resonance on her 2018 tour with Stephen Stills!
PS: I am still somewhat "tight" but feel constant improvement in how loose my throat is. In another 100 days I just might find my voice. I love your You Tube lessons and have bought from your web site.
Also good to stretch your body while doing vocal exercises so the brain connects a loose body with singing. Otherwise, the brain overcompensates by throwing every muscle in the neighborhood at the song! Go for comfort first - then control.
These exercises have been helping me with my COPD. I used to exhausted after a minute or so, now I'm lasting for few minutes at a time. Thank you so much!
when I do this I breathe in from my nose but when I actually end up singing I start breathing from my mouth. I usually breathe from my nose while talking, how do I fix this?
✨🎄✨To Mark & Family, wishing you a really Happy Christmas, from Australia Such a wonderful Christmas gift to hav found you! Now onto morning scales! 🤣🌟🤣 🙏🏼 🐨 🦘 🐍 🦘 🐨 🎁 🎉
So glad I have found you been singing since Last September I am 66 and had not sung for years I retired and wanted to sing but knew it was something I needed to do sensibly as the vocals had changed you’re practices are the best I have found so informative and practical so accessible and easy to follow thankyou these will support my getting back to singing in choirs and singing Mantras and Kirtan I cannot be any Happier thankyou 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

@@voicelessondotcom still doing it most days, just curious, does lip rolling while listening to your fav. songs count as training? or does it do a similar thing to this exercise.. meaning if I am doing enough rolling on songs on a daily basis, can it partially cover having to do sit down legit training like this..

But you have ALWAYS been blessed! :)
I Really like your teaching style. Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals. Even pro's know that they never outgrow them. . Great job, Mark.
Totally agree with you Thom. I have used other sites, one of them since July 2018, and this is pretty much the best one. I love the explanations he gives.
He did helped us this pandemic to maintain vocal fitness. :)
Thank you Mr. Baxter for making us happy !
You're welcome!
You're the BEST brother! I've been doing videos on UA-cam for years and hands down, your stuff is all around the best in my humble opinion...Thanks!
Thanks! Glad to help.
I do this every day and my voice has absolutely transformed and continues to develop with smooth power, thank you Mark!
That's great news!
@@voicelessondotcom So good advice Mark! Thanks.
@@voicelessondotcomyou are amazing! Thank you so much. I still come to your video for practice and just realized you replied to me. (Like I was reading my own comment thinking , wow this sound like me😂😂)
Your advice has gone a long way and you are right, at my point now it is much easier to sing and even create melodies. I realized I was thinking too much trying to create my own melodies instead of allowing my body to naturally do it's thing
Thank you. No self promotion, no nonsense, just a solid vocal warm up.
I'm happy to help out!
Been doing this daily for a month now, the improvements are phenomenal
That's awesome!
Same here. Great way to start the day.
Yeah! It's very helpful
Yay
Hey! i made a music video, check it out ua-cam.com/video/PnqXA0hgrvA/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Rami
My acting ensemble does this every day before rehearsals and we have such fond memories associated with it! Now I do it before even speaking and cannot thank you enough Mark for helping to access the full extent of my voice! ❤
I'm so glad you're putting it to such good use!
Glad you like it - and happy birthday!
*correcting flaws*
DON'T CORRECT FLAWS
Okay
I have some vocal damage and this is helping me recondition my voice, I just didn't realise the extent of it at first, and now I am getting on with regaining some of the quality that used to be there... It is like starting from having to learn to walk again. I have a weirdly low voice, most suitable for meditations. This is the best way to warm up the voice box. Thanks so much. Love your work.
Glad you're on the rebound Nicki!
Lower voices are beautiful. Especially for a female, don’t give in to the higher = better mentality!
oh my god this is the best warm up video. thank you for singing the whole i didnt realize how subconsciously helpful that is. i am so naturally impatient that you not saying a single word was so helpful and to be able to get notes while i do it!! i dont have to stop and start. i did this laying on the ground to really feel my breath and it was very calming and almost meditative. this is a great warmup to do for anyone. its nice to feel ur voice so readily available
Glad you like it - welcome to the channel!
I have a question how do i improve lower toned humming i seem to be better with higher tone
Practice with this as well: ua-cam.com/video/FVGinJrXGnw/v-deo.html
Welcome back Ricky!
Hi Mark, is it okay to shift into head voice or should I drop down as soon as it's getting shaky?
Absolutely - no reason to restrict your voice when warming up.
Well that's really nice Sarah! Glad to be your friend and to offer some help along the way!
I feel the same
@@wilsonrocha8967 Thanks Wilson - I'm happy to be a small part of your day!
I second this!! Would love a cool down video!!
Hi, Paolo I want to connect with you, can I have any of your social platforms? I see we both are into Music and Tech.
It's easy to look at your face, you have such peaceful magnetism
I agree, you remind me of Brian Wilson with that peace vibe, only more switched on 😀
As a voice actor for DreamWorks & Nickelodeon, I use your videos everyday to prep for studio sessions or auditions.
Thanks so much for making these amazing lessons.
Very glad to assist, Chester!
When-when should we practice our vocals warm up…..n how many long ???
Do this exercise before singing every day.
I can’t like the video everytime I watch it (about five times a week), so I just like other comments. Thanks, you are the best! God bless.
Thanks for the support!
Hmm... Seems interesting.
I'll do it for 30 days...
Day 1: Check
See you tomorrow!
I've been doing these warmups twice a dau for the past 4 days and my voice is just feeling more and more free every day especially for high notes and just control when singing. Thank you for this I will be doing them every day
You're very welcome! Glad it's helping.
So really Thanks for this🙏💯
@@ruantristancarlinsky3851 You got it - consistency is the key!

I really wanna know to do those fancy runs that pro singers do. Does it usually come by itself with practise or does it take more than that?
It will take practice. Best to start simply. Use this exercise: ua-cam.com/video/iD21Am569KY/v-deo.html
When it gets to middle range, my voice cracks and goes between voice and chest wo being able to blend smoothly....
Right now that's the case - but if you keep your volume low and slow down through that area you'll coordinate your behavior to have a smooth connection all the way through.
In case you haven’t seen it, Mark also has another “Epic Warmup for Singers” that is a great complement to this brilliant and oh-so-useful warmup.
Going forward, I’m planning to sing both warmups each day. Doing these exercises has helped me improve vocal stamina, avoid vocal injury and take on technical singing challenges … all of which are now coalescing and helping me find my own, unique vocal style. Hooray for Hollywood!
Kudos to Mark for such great teaching. What a gift!!!
Can you do one before bedtime :)
Yup - but when you're done you have to say, "Goodnight Voice!"
Dear Mark Baxter,
I'm singing in a Rockband and our Gigs took mostly 4 Hours with 2 breaks inbetween. Our Songs are pretty stressful for my voice. So you have any advice how to sensibly use breaks between our Sets?
Sometimes my throat muscles feel a little stiff. I usually Just do some liprolls.

Hey Mark, wondering if a light sweat is normal during a warmup/singing session or am I putting in too much unnecessary effort?
Seems like too much effort to me. This should be as much effort as talking with a friend.
@@voicelessondotcom thanks Mark. Good to know. This warm up is so, so good. I notice a drastic difference in my practice recordings with this and without this.

Hey Marc, any tutorials on how to "sing" with HARD CORE PUNK growl? (I am being serious)
Without pain and that you not lost your voice. Of course first have to sing right way then punk style.
Very helpful. Thanks!
Good tips, especially on the light headed thing. You’re literally expected to vocalize for a solid 15 minutes, and breath control is also tested here.
" You made my day " This is what I say after doing this everyday. Thank you 💕

Yessss ! This is it! Finally found the perfect daily vocal warmup! Thank you good Sir!

After 1.5 years of voice training this is still my favourite warm up exercises. Thank
Glad to be the fav!
