In the last issue of the Katarina comics, Swain tells Katarina that Noxus needs her to be the assassin who can get to anyone... including Swain himself, "whatever [he] may become". He's fully aware of the grim future that may befall him, a future in which he's no longer in control.
I love that. Thanks for bringing that to the comments. I totally agree. It definitely seems like he knows he is going to be consumed at some point. That will be a very interesting lore line to explore in the MMO I’m sure. That would be awesome if Swain was a raid boss at some point
I believe that Swain only said that because he wanted to display loyalty towards noxus, just in case any member of the triafix tuns rouge. I'm actually convinced that Swain is the only guy who can keep rhaum and therefore Mordekaiser in check through that contract @@Studeee
You think Raum, the demon of secrets would allow himself to be taken advantage of? It’s an interesting theory. It does say somewhere that Swain tricked Raum or something along those lines. Maybe that is true
To add to this, Swain's dialogue with Darius further proves that Swain is aware that the demon within him will break free and that he's relying on his allies to kill him when he loses control. When fighting Darius, Swain says "it was only a matter of time Darius, do what you must", implying that Darius was put on the Trifarix to keep Swain in check. Until the demon takes him, Swain is doing his best to keep Noxus safe and secure after seeing visions of the secrets that Raum kept of multiple world ending cataclysms in the future.
@@Studeeeto add swain says "never make a deal with a demon you intend to keep" so really this point that swain doesn't intend to have raum for a long time and will get rid of him getting free.
Wow, really appreciate your comment Thorn. Thank you man. Really glad you liked the video ♥️ Let me know if there is any specific champs you’d like to see covered :)
Very good video. I've always felt Swain is one of the most interesting character in League, that is not talked about much. I like the idea Swain being influenced by Morde but to me it felt like Rhaum had full autonomy from Morde and by extension Swain did too. Morde's line in game felt a taunt to me since Swain already condemned his soul when he essentially made a deal with a demon.
Hey Mark!! It totally could be that Raum is in control of the situation and has autonomy from Morde. It does say that Raum’s soul is sealed in the immortal bastion. What do you think about that? To me that tells me that Mordekaiser controls Raum since he is the one that constructed the bastion. Do you think it’s just coincidence?
@@Studeee No, I do not believe it to be a coincidence. Perhaps Morde controlled or captured Raum before he died the second time, which is why Raum was in the Immortal Bastion. In the modern day no one seemed capable of obtaining or using the powers of Raum until Swain made a deal with him. Also, it implies that Swain got the upper hand (haha) of the deal, somehow gaining more control of Raum in the arrangement. We do not know what the deal entailed for either parties, but it could be Morde somehow plays into this. Morde might think that Raum is still bound to him in some way, which is why he says that line to Swain. Demons in general dislike being bound and in the service to others (look at Atakhan), so perhaps Raum thought Swain was his ticket away from Morde only to have Swain outplay him. Also Raum is one of the oldest Demons in the world of Runeterra (most likely second only to Fiddlesticks) so I'm not sure how Morde, powerful though as he is, would have ever been able to fully bind him to his service. In short, I just don't think Morde has as much power over Swain as he thinks he does.
@KingSkeleman Okay this is an amazing perspective and tidbit of info. I appreciate you walking me through that. I can’t wait to find out what the truth is. This is definitely some of the most interesting lore out there.
I think tyrant swain skin is prob the version where Raum already controls swain. even the recall he uses the pillar where mordekaiser is trapped. if im not mistaken ofc.
Not excatly. First things first. Raum hasnt a soul, he is an evil spiritual entity that is incredibly powerful. Indeed all seems to indicate that raum was far way more powerful than mordekaiser to the point he had to take containment meassures against him (by building the inmortal bastion to keep him put of his way). Consider this, even if a wolf is stronger than a human, it doesnt mean that thr human cant manage to trap the wolf. From that moment mordekaiser had some partial controll over raum so he increased his knowledge (same as he did with veigar). Now, what swain did was to take the Raum spiritual form with him by become one with the demon. It means now they are like the same entity (but he has the controll for now) and what he left there was just the physical form that raum could regenerate anyways. What swain did is essentially to force raum to work for him, since if swain falls raum will fall with him. The thing is swain can keep the controll because raum was extremely weakened after centuries of isolation on its prission, thats ehy every time swain uses his powers raum becomes stronger. For what riot said we still havent seen more than a minimal fraction of his true power… What is for sure is that raum isnt an ally of mordekaiser and that he isnt a friend of swain (indeed swain knows raum is at the same time his best weapon and his worst enemy). What would happen if swain would lose the controll is what we see on his tyrant skin (in that universe swain wasnt strong enough to controll the demon but at the same time raum wasnt capable of release himself so he posessed swains body temporally and thats why his voce has that effect and why the ultimate is inverted)
After watching Arcane, especially the end of season 2, it definitely feels like the mysteries surrounding Noxus, Swain and the Black Rose will be the next animated series. Hope that they explore swain's power and maybe have the demon take over with help from Mordekaiser somehow.
Hey Pavlin! Thanks for saying that. Will do! Stay tuned for another video in the next 1-2 days! I think that one the heat is going to be turned up a bit :)

I have a very similar idea, but ultimately see Raum as a separate entity in the war between Swain, LeBlanc and Mordekaiser. A demon that like Tybaulk and the shadow demon from that is suggested to have been Atakhan from the Amoline story, a demon that Mordekaiser leashed in the Immortal Bastion because it wasn't a tool for battle and conquest like the other two, but gathering intelligence and revealing plots. I believe that demon to have been Raum and furthermore that Raum helped LeBlanc and Vladimir take down Mordekaiser is a bid to achieve its own freedom over time. If Raum takes over Swain's body I don't believe it would be loyal to Mordekaiser unless its still forceably bound to the Iron Revenant's whims. I foresee a future in which Noxus is run by Raum using Swain as its puppet to destroy the Iron Revenant so the demon can free itself, making the imagery in Swain's Tyrant skin a reality.
Hey Meddy!! I like this theory that Raum might just be in his own separate party in this whole political game. What do you think about Mordekaiser's voice lines then? About how Swain's soul is already his, etc.? Do you think Raum is able to act of his own accord while his soul is trapped within the Immortal Bastion? If he takes over Swain, he will still be trapped hypothetically right? Or do you think his soul will become unstuck after taking over Swain?
Mordekaiser could just be flaunting his title as lord of both the living and the dead, meaning that even though Swain may think that his machinations and plans will lead to his eventual victory, Mordekaiser is simply ten steps ahead and his dominion is guaranteed at this point, so Swain's efforts are for naught. The reference to "borrowed power" could refer to either Raum, the status of leading an empire (Which Morde is implying he will take back from Swain) or both. I do think that Raum is able to plan ahead and create contingency plans even though he could still be bound to Mordekaiser (we saw both Tybaulk and Atakhan get unbound, sealed and rebound to others, but Raum remains in the Bastion, untouched besides Swain as far as we know). If Raum is still bound to the Mordekaiser, then the key to unbinding itself lies with manipulating the holder of the chains, Mordekaiser himself into releasing it, Raum would have to craft a series of unforeseeable events, under the table that would lead to this unbinding. My personal theory that Raum is LeBlanc herself is way more of a crackpot absolutely baseless theory, that I personally enjoy, but I think also has some merit. Especially if you interpret LeBlanc as a way for Raum to enforce his plots while maintaining some deniability with a series of doppelgangers/illusory projections that it is able to cast from the Immortal Bastion. @@Studeee
Here's my theory. Raum may be one of the Ten Kings demon. Before he got locked up he fought with both Mordekaiser and Leblanc before, during the time when Leblanc still served Mordekaiser. He lost in that battle and was bound to Mordekaiser. The Ten King keys may be in the possession of Mordekaiser himself. It may be possible that in the future the situation will be revealed that all Leblanc scheme and Swain plans were actually under Fiddlesticks influences. Swain will unleash Mordekaiser and Leblanc will destroy him. after Mordekaiser gets destroyed, Raum and Fiddlesticks will swoop in and grab the key to increase his demonic power. Right now Fiddlesticks already free 3 of the ten kings. One of them is Aslash the demon of joy who's now bound to Nyla. Raum or someone else in Demacia might be the next one to be free.
It is said that Swain didn't actually make a proper contract with the demon, rather tricked rhaum into serving swain. If that is true as it's said, mordekaiser may very well be aware of rhaums pact with swain, but he can't actually controll swains actions or consume his mind of some sort through his control over rhaum. Another thing you misinterpreted, in my opinion, is mordekaisers voice line when facing swain. If mordekaiser truely controls raum to the degree you picture it to be, how come that Swain says to irelia that she did him a favour by sever off one of his arms. I think Mordekaiser tryed to make rhaum engage into a pact with swain, but swain made the deals/pacts terms go into Swains favour. After all, Swain knows that mordekaiser exists and his ambitions about Noxus didn't change throughout his lifespan.
I think it might be a good trick. That they might have tricked Swain into thinking he got the better end of the deal when in fact maybe he didn’t. So hard to say, but this lore is really complex. I think I just have a hard time believing Mordekaiser and Raum both got outsmarted by Swain. Who was really just a normal guy born into a highborne family.
I believe that LeBlanc tipped off the Ionian's in order to increase the odds that Swain would be killed at the Placidium. What do you think?
Leblanc is a french patronyme and it's pronounced as if there were no c so it's pronounced leblan
