Bushcamp - Building an Off the Grid Sink and Wooden Countertop (No Plumbing Required)

  • In this video we build a wooden countertop and the cut out a section to place a sink. We use a very simple and easy system for our water supply, faucet and drain that requires no indoor plumbing. We used a nifty little electric pump and faucet that I bought for $25, but a hand pump faucet would also work great on a set up like this if power is not an option. A set-up like this is great for off the grid applications as it is very easy to do and is very inexpensive. We also put some shelving underneath the countertop and all around it was a great project to do and I am very happy with how it has been working!
Join my dog and I at our wilderness homestead in the Canadian North. This channel features videos on off-the-grid lifestyle and building, trapline adventures, hunting, fishing, trucks and much more!
I live off the land in a self reliant and self sufficient lifestyle. The land provides me with everything I need. My offgrid cabin is solar powered, heated by a wood stove and most everything I eat comes from the land; fish, eggs from my chickens, and many different wild game species. The lifestyle I live is essentially expense free and blesses me with the opportunity to do whatever I please.
In the winter months we head out on the trapline and ethically harvest fur bearing animals. Through moderate and sustainable methods I snare and trap these animals and work on, and sell the pelts at auction which provides a decent income for me to invest in my off the grid homestead and lifestyle.

Suggestion; pick-up a quart of polyurethane for your wood countertop, 2 coats will make it almost waterproof and wipe clean much easier. It'll last much longer also. Cheers from Oklahoma.

Maybe a curtain to hide the jugs and stuff under the sink. Get a cheap rod and can slide the curtain to the side as opposed to opening a door.
I would do a quick sand job and a few coats of polyurethane on the counter top... maybe... lol.

You could put on a plank to hide the sink, just at the top and add a few hooks to hang a large cloth on the inside of the plank to hid the water jugs. Kinda like a sink curtain thing instead of a door. Anyhow, this looks incredible, enjoy the joys of refrigeration and running water 😄.

Excellent video again and nice job on the sink and counter top and shelves. All you need now is a coleman 2 burner camp stove for left side of sink counter top and your all set. Thanks for the mention on my knives and I am feeling better and please note all my knives are on sale until xmas. Take care my good friend and be safe. Richard.
Also hang cast iron pans on the wall behind the door and you will have another shelf for storage.
