Bushcamp - Building an Off the Grid Sink and Wooden Countertop (No Plumbing Required)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 вер 2020
- In this video we build a wooden countertop and the cut out a section to place a sink. We use a very simple and easy system for our water supply, faucet and drain that requires no indoor plumbing. We used a nifty little electric pump and faucet that I bought for $25, but a hand pump faucet would also work great on a set up like this if power is not an option. A set-up like this is great for off the grid applications as it is very easy to do and is very inexpensive. We also put some shelving underneath the countertop and all around it was a great project to do and I am very happy with how it has been working!
Join my dog and I at our wilderness homestead in the Canadian North. This channel features videos on off-the-grid lifestyle and building, trapline adventures, hunting, fishing, trucks and much more!
I live off the land in a self reliant and self sufficient lifestyle. The land provides me with everything I need. My offgrid cabin is solar powered, heated by a wood stove and most everything I eat comes from the land; fish, eggs from my chickens, and many different wild game species. The lifestyle I live is essentially expense free and blesses me with the opportunity to do whatever I please.
In the winter months we head out on the trapline and ethically harvest fur bearing animals. Through moderate and sustainable methods I snare and trap these animals and work on, and sell the pelts at auction which provides a decent income for me to invest in my off the grid homestead and lifestyle.

The accent, the chainsaw, the phrases.. I love this channel.
Doing the cutout with the chainsaw had me laughin so dam hard
Looks great by the way lol
That was really cool! I laughed too! 😂 He is awesome to watch!😍❤👏👏
@@elliebellielongstreet Totally agree I even watch him fixing his truck like I know what he's talking bout lol
When he opened the window and said “gotta gotta get some fresh air in here and for the love of fuck don’t try this at home” I near died lmfao!
@@kylehayes5689 it didn’t work liar
Well didn't think I would ever see a cut out for a sink being done with a chainsaw lol. Great work and content though, thanks
And he’s baaaack! You just made my Sunday. Cheers!
That's exactly what makes it livable, the furniture is nice, heat is essential, the the kitchen sink makes you marriage material.
The chain saw is classic, I blew my milk and cookie out my nose when I saw that. The wife thinks I'm nuts. You are a man who will survive anywhere.
Dudes a fucking roll model. From Missouri here your living my dream bud
This has got to be Andrew Camarata's nephew.
Yeah, Andrew rocks too, and Kevin from Modern Self Reliance too, another Ontario resident like myself.
@@frederickmoller I love all those folks!!
Hahaha
Suggestion; pick-up a quart of polyurethane for your wood countertop, 2 coats will make it almost waterproof and wipe clean much easier. It'll last much longer also. Cheers from Oklahoma.
David Bertschinger feel like this cabin style will fit out for texas/oklahoma region. Im from central texas moved from north texas to central and this project really had me jealous!
Absolutely love your work ; no fluff and bullshit!!! Appreciate your raw and unabashed attitude; always brings a chuckle. Keep kicking ass!!!
I absolutely love it..... "For all your in home Renovations called Traplines and Inlines at 1 800 fu**ing deadly!!
You need a little butane stove for cooking when its dark or raining. ( maybe you said this and I missed it)
Your cabin is really really nice, you should be proud of yourself!
He has one by now.
Maybe a curtain to hide the jugs and stuff under the sink. Get a cheap rod and can slide the curtain to the side as opposed to opening a door.
I would do a quick sand job and a few coats of polyurethane on the counter top... maybe... lol.
Looks good though.
She's a Mint i tell ya! Love your videos man keep em coming and keep doing it your style!
You could put on a plank to hide the sink, just at the top and add a few hooks to hang a large cloth on the inside of the plank to hid the water jugs. Kinda like a sink curtain thing instead of a door. Anyhow, this looks incredible, enjoy the joys of refrigeration and running water 😄.
This is darn deadly bro, man you are a badness, I just love you. Stay safe,
Cutting for a sink in countertop with a chainsaw has to be the most Canadian Bush thing I have ever seen 😳 🤔😆😆
I just discovered your channel a few days ago. I had to go back and check out this cabin from the start!
Not only are you entertaining to watch... you and your "get er done" work ethic have impressed the hell out of me!
I'm hooked, and here to watch as long as you continue!
Finish carpentry by Husqvarna! I love it. You rock kid.
That sink will sure make life easier. I love watching how nothing defeats you, that chainsaw did the job. Mint video. 👍Love it. ❤
This cabin is just awesome
Cast iron cook ware is the bomb
Hey young fellow, I am a soon to be 50 trapper from Sault Ste.Marie Ontario area. I am really impressed at your skills and knowledge as a young guy. Keep up the good work and look forward to some trapping videos.
Kevin Finlayson
thank you kindly my friend
My father also ran a trapline north of the Sault near Spruce / Wart Lake up the ACR. He did it for close to 50 years... I have a lot of memories going on the line with him. What area do you trap?

You are a smart, talented young man....I enjoy your videos
thank you kindly my friend
You Rock! "Don't be surprised if I come back in here with the chainsaw" LOL
Use a bicycle tire inner tube instead of rigid pipe . just cute inner tube and a clamp then you can remove drain bucket without tilting .
Clever idea Dennis!
Thank you! Has similarities to a project I'm working on. Also the thickest Canadian accent I've ever heard; it's great!
Wow !! I just love the way you explain things and the way you go by the seat of your pants,on your builds. Turned out great .Love the video 👍👍👍👍
That is so nice now you really needed that sink and counter area. Now you also have storage for food items, dishes and pots n pans. Another great job!
🤣🤣🤣 this kid does a great job 💯♥️✌
great job you did
I just fuckin love this man's enery & optimism even when shit goes sideways. Family of 3 here in Indiana said fuck the city life and moved to our off grid cabin out in the middle of fuckin nowhere. Great tutorial
I love the Canadian accent and all your sayings 👍 Love the content too bud keep it up!
Giving AvE a run for his money.
Just recently found your channel and I musta watched your videos up to 10 months to 1yr ago within the past week 😆👌🏻 What great content and your a barrel a laughs yerself bud ! If you ever visit Scotland I owe ya a few drinks 🥃😉 🏴
When you pulled out the chainsaw for the sink I laughed my ass off hahaha looks great and very convenient as well! One thing I would’ve done would be run that drain right through the wall and let it drain right outside tbh can’t wait for the next project ✌🏻🇨🇦
"Perfectly good enough"....😃👍.....words of wisdom. Maybe a highly educated mechanical engineer would say. "Job serviceability " but it's all the same. Keep em comin brother
Just behind you with my own off grid cabin! You've been a great inspiration! Keep up on the videos man!
cheers buddy good luck to you
@@TraplinesandInlines Thank you
rigid make great drills 👍
Well done!! Love it! 😃
I'm glad I found your channel I absolutely love it! Your cabin is beautiful. One bit of advice from an old guy. I left my firewood under my cabin and I ended up with a large carpenter ant infestation. They did tons of damage and I practically had to rebuild it.
Excellent video again and nice job on the sink and counter top and shelves. All you need now is a coleman 2 burner camp stove for left side of sink counter top and your all set. Thanks for the mention on my knives and I am feeling better and please note all my knives are on sale until xmas. Take care my good friend and be safe. Richard.
Also hang cast iron pans on the wall behind the door and you will have another shelf for storage.
Great work bud, excited to see what the trapline bring this winter.
Ps. Never use soap on cast iron, it eats your seasoning. steel wool is your friend, a little oil and heat on er after and you're good
With right quick disconnect fittings you might be able to hook your shower pump up in series to your sink and have hot water as well aye .
Keep up the good work you're inparation you do things so difference
Your videos are addicting
Awesome upgrade! Thanks for sharing! 🤩
Ya just gotta love this dude.
Hang a curtain infront of the sink, easy to install and hides everything deadly bo'i.
Love the vids.
Greetings from Fairbanks Alaska... Your living the dream. New Sub.
Made my day!
Awesome work absolutely love ❤️ watching your videos
Love your videos! I look forward to them.
Love all that you're doing in the cabin. Will you eventually put in a little Coleman Stove so you can cook inside? We are really impressed with everything you've done, especially at your age. It's nice to see a young adult with so much motivation.
He has a woodstove, and that provides really all the cooking he'd really need to do. It can get downright oppressive in the Summer though cooking inside on one of those things, a Coleman stove certainly wouldn't hurt.
With his solar setup he could easily run a hot plate and toaster oven. That way no need for propane.
Thanks for your inputs but really I was asking him as he is the one who stays there.
Great video thanks again
Wow!! I was just watching one of your older vids for the 2nd time to bring my spirits up on this rainy droopy day! Thanks and keep making people smile!😁 Tallahassee Florida 😁
Handsome dog
Chainsaw time hell yeah boy wat a legend 😎👍

I found this channel this week and now I'm sub'ed and it's my favorite channel on UA-cam. I just spent the last few days watching every video. You're living my dream, friend. Please keep making videos, I can't wait for the next one.

***GDAY FRIEND , little soap on the hose helps to slide them on nice and easy, is what she said,, season your castiron after washing,, and don't let me see you wash 12 v parts in there ..cheers ONTARIOOOOOOOO******🍁👍
The two most important tools, a chainsaw and fencing pliers! Awesome 👍👍👍

Awesome job. Love watching the progress and thanks for describing what what your doing in the process. Awesome sink
Great job dude, if you’re happy with it that’s all that matters 👍way of the road!
Love the precision cutting with the chainsaw. Great video
Your fridge, sink and shelves really cozied up your cabin real quick. Great job.
It looks great...what a great job you did with the kitchen counter.....very efficient..your awesome...love watched you do your little cabin 🥰
Man!
Found your channel little under a week ago.. I'm currently watching through the cabin build and chicken coop builds, but decided to go ahead and watch this to see where you are before going back.
Your setup is looking beautiful (or shall I say.. deadly, lol), the chicken coop, outdoor of cabin, bottom floor setup, all of it. Then when you showed the upstairs, was blown away. Loving the setup, looks very comfy.
An 18 year old dude stoked to be able to do dishes legitimately (with sink), what a rare sight. Im 25, just now getting my head straight with real priorities like what's shown on this channel, really happy to see younger dudes with a good head on their shoulders.
Just got a hat and shirt from your store, stoked to represent. Keep up the great work, looking forward to the next one!
thank you very much my friend i wish you all the best
Brother,
I know this job is tough and enjoyable for you and you do what you can.
We all love your vids, you are what's right about the world.
Can I ask you to, please, put one out soon because youtube is overloaded with political bullshit, stupid strife and your friends would love the diversion you provide.
Thanks for allowing us all to live your camp life thru you.
Howie
Good job, that will definitely help! You could always cut a piece of linoleum flooring to the size of the top and it would be plastic and can get wet and easy to clean if the wood doesn't hold up all that well.
Love the channel but the one thing I would not do that you talked about is put insulation around the fridge the coil and compressor need the air flow for it to work properly!! Keep on rocking brother
You are going to be set up for the winter . Looks like it's cool in the Bush.
"Pretty good enough"... lol. Love it! Chainsaw cabinetry and all! I need to build one of these for me. ~Cheers
Hell of a carpenter
It's a great kitchen. It is very nice ! It will be beautiful when the autumn leaves start🍁
Sink works great.. Y'all Take Care & Stay Safe.

Your new sink/kitchen counter/shelf unit sure is mint young man!!! I especially loved your Husqvarna jig saw! Deadly!!!! More excellent content--keep it up and thanks!!!!
Nice job
love this channel, i can't build shit, i learned so much, watching
I'd buy or make some shallow trays to slide in and out of the narrow shelves on the left so you don't have to dig around for the contents. Nice job!
Great vid. Cabin is looking deadly . I look forward to future vids . Cheers 🍻
Right deadly video bud, giving me some ideas for my camp...cheers from NewBrunswick.
Looking better all the time, going to be a good home for you for some time.
Turned out great 👍
Chainsaw action
Really enjoyed the video
I live in a storage unit in the big city and I'm going to build one of these, thank you.
Great little project friend. The Bush Cabin is coming along nicely for sure. a little here and a little there and the next thing you know you'll have built a palace! You ever think about putting a propane cooking stove in the kitchen so you don't have to create a fire to cook? Just a thought and maybe a project you have in your mind down the road. What ever works for you is best. Looking forward to the next video! Trapping season is right around the corner!
The sink cabinet looks awesome! You could plug up one of those two holes in the sink with a pump soap dispenser. Would be one less thing you need to store else where.
Thankful to have found your channel sir. You are a genuine article and I really appreciate your can-do attitude, all the effort you put into your projects and especially the extra effort it takes to film and edit it all to share with the rest of us. Agressively subscribed!
Good stuff bud !! That’s going to make life easier !!! Friggin mint bud . Keep givin er!!!
A dish strainer & shelf liners will really make that area pop! Good job young man!
