    They are gorgeous, they ooze so much charm. The mannii cross is so pretty, with the star shaped blooms. Very enjoyable series, thank you 🙏🤩❤️

      I keep my orchids in water (with tall vases).
      Filet up with filter water (drinking water).
      Try to avoid water touching the leaves.
      Avoid bright lights.
      Change water every 2-3 weeks .
      Easy care .

    Hello, new viewer here and enjoying your content! Could you please let me know if there is anything we can do to guide the stem growth upwards (rather than sideways?)

      They grow towards the light so if you put light above the plant it will grow up, if the light is coming from the side it will grow that way.

    Danielle, I’m taking the plunge!
    I bought a new white phal large size & want to start it in water culture from the beginning.
    I thought to do semi WC & what is ur advice for the water level & how long to let it drink then dry.
    Thanks very much .
    ( I am determined to make WC work this time)

    • @daniellesorchidranch1591
      @daniellesorchidranch1591  2 роки тому

      How exciting! I think your instinct to start with semi water culture is the right choice.
      Keep water levels no higher then half way up the roots for its soaking days and drain the water off completely for the dry days. You’ll want to decide how many days based on your climate. I usually do 24 hours in winter because it is very cold here, and 48 hours in summer.
      Also I highly recommend not fertilizing until the plant has become acclimated to WC, that all depends on what condition it’s roots are in. WC will show you right away if the roots are healthy. They may look healthy when you unpot it but if they shrivel on the dry days then they were unhealthy.
      Let me know how things go and if you have any questions!

    Love you and your orchids!! I have watched your videos for a couple of years now and I now have 6 Phals. 5 are in bark, repotted at purchase, anes 1 mini I am trying water culture. I was terrified to try but she wasn't doing well anyway so I gave it a shot! She is producing new roots and her leaves are looking much better!! Thank you for all you do!! ❤️🙏❤️

      I find the mini phals love WC because in general they are water hogs. I’m so pleased to hear your plant is doing so well!

      I am not sure which plant you are asking about or if it is just a general question.
      I water my plants once a week.
      In the winter I put water in the glass and let it soak overnight then the next day I drain the water completely for the ones not in bloom. For the ones in bloom I leave a little water in the bottom of the glass for them.
      I hope that answers your question.

    I had a similar phal like the one you got from your friend. Messed her up and lost her. I am going to keep my fingers crossed that your rescue pulls through... it will be an amazing turn around! Love that deep pink / purple phal 🤩 hope you are doing well ❤🙌🏼❤ have a lovely weekend 💝

      I really hope she does pull through because she is not mine so I will feel terrible if she doesn’t. I have to say though, it’s not looking good ☹️
      She’s not dead yet though and where there’s life there’s hope.
      Thank you so much for watching and have a wonderful weekend! 🌺🌸🌺

    Danielle,
    Thank you for replying so fast.
    Did you mean that I allow a soak for 24 hours?
    Okay if so, then how many DRY days do I allow before doing the next soak.?
    I understand what you said regarding no feeding until I see the plant adjusting to WC.
    Also I understand about checking the roots on dry days to see if they shrivel.
    I am very excited & a bit scared but want to do WC, because I too, love seeing the roots very much.
    This is a big deal for me but might sound stupid to others.
    All my phals in bark are happy but I really have wanted to succeed at WC for a long time.
    Your channel is what got me motivated because your roots are so healthy & look good in their vases.
    Thanks very much. I appreciate your help.
    And will let you know what transpires.

    • @daniellesorchidranch1591
      @daniellesorchidranch1591  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, I soak the roots for 24 hour and then the rest of the week is dry but like I said I live in a cold climate so you should pick how you do yours based on your climate.
      I am sure you will be able to accomplish your goal of growing in WC. If the plant has a healthy root system it will be a quick transition but if the root system is not healthy then you will have to have a little patience as the plant transitions.
      If the plant is coming out of bark it is much easier to transition then a plant in moss.
      Nothing you said sounded stupid! It is a scary thing to try something new! But you can succeed! 🌱🌺🌱

    • @daniellesorchidranch1591
      @daniellesorchidranch1591  2 роки тому +2

      I’m sorry I am not familiar with the San nook orchid. I looked online and I think you are talking about a dendrobium. I have quite a few dendrobium and many other types of orchids growing in water culture.

    • @klavdijaperdih6404
      @klavdijaperdih6404 2 роки тому

      yes it is that orchid. Do I have to pay special attention to anything? And what fertilizer do you use for orchids?

    • @daniellesorchidranch1591
      @daniellesorchidranch1591  2 роки тому +2

      @@klavdijaperdih6404 I would do research on what the orchid needs before you decide what kind of water culture you want to put it in.
      Also I recommend starting off slowly. Not to much water, only a little and no fertilizer until it seems happy.

    I am very new to your videos so excuse my ignorance please. Are your orchids only grown in water or do you grow some in orchid mix and bark. That’s what I always thought they grew in. 🤷‍♀I have just cleaned my orchid like your video shows cut all the dead roots off but I have a lot of air roots on mine is that ok. Please help.

    • @daniellesorchidranch1591
      @daniellesorchidranch1591  10 місяців тому

      Yes, all of my orchids are grown hydroponically. Some, like my Cattleya’s, have some glass beads in their containers to stabilize them, they prefer to grow in something and not just an empty container. I do not use any organic material though like bark or moss.
      If your plant only has air roots left after you clean the dead roots away then you can gently put the air roots into the container to help hydrate until it grows additional roots.

      They are kept in my spare bedroom under grow lights. This spot in the video is in my kitchen and unfortunately doesn’t get enough natural light. But if you have a bright window in your room that is perfect for these plants.

    • @daniellesorchidranch1591

      I think you’re asking about the cover on the bottom of the glass…. It’s so the algae grows slower. They need light so I try to cut down on the light so I can control how often I have to clean the glass

    Danielle, I couldn’t wait to tell you how my phal is coming. I wrote to you before questioning how often to water my root strings. I’m thrilled to report , I have 3 roots coming out & a new leaf coming up.
    I would soak my root strings twice a week in dilute fertilizer & kelp liquid then weekly I would give a tea solution. Thanks so much. I’m so thrilled with its progress.❤️
