Nice video, thanks. I can totally relate to damaging new growths and stuff getting knocked over. Very relatable and real! You have a lot of new growth and your catts look really nice!
😃 so good to see this video come up! 👍🏼🌸 it flusters me to no end when I have an accident like that! Takes me a while to regroup .. you handled that really well... I can learn from you 😬
Watching this video is kind of reinforce my decision to convert some of my cattleya into this set up. I had 2 set ups for them at the moment as part of my experimentation. One in inorganic media and one in water culture. My water culture is not doing well when root system is concern in comparison to inorganic media. I might try your set up as my 3rd option and see how they go😊. Thank you.
Aileen Thygesen glad to give you the idea! I know some get awesome results with semi water culture but my life is not conducive to that routine so I had to come up with something that was.
😁Thanks for the giggle!!you catch yours in the window and i tend to accidentally vacuum my leaves up!!! I too have a Maikai, keen to see how yours fairs in wc...my laelia is very bright sun, but i would suggest doing it gradually...
Carla Hill thank you for the tip on the laelia. I was doing so well and being so careful because I am known to knock new growths of because I’m clumsy. Oh well it happens to all of us I guess.🙄
Danielle I know how you feel!! We might be a world apart but i have those clumsy moments too! Keep making your lovely videos, I look forward to seeing what you got going on.😊
I bought a cattleya seedling from Hausermann in February. They said it was 2~3 years from blooming size. It turned out that the seedling was 5 tiny seedlings bunched up together to make it look bigger. All 5 seedlings looked like they just came out of the flask. One was too small to survive. We’ll see if the rest are going to survive. They are growing new roots and very tiny new growths. But they are growing VERY SLOWLY. I know that I have to wait at least 5 years just to get 2 bigger ones to the blooming size.
💚Very interesting way of growing! I just don't think I'd have enough patience. I use NZ spaghum moss in clear airy orchid pots in this🌵arid climate. It seems mine need to be damp most all the time. Those roots turn fast out here without water.🌿🌱🌿🌱🌿
Sharon Holmes yes that’s what I try to tell my viewers who are new to growing. Your environment and what works in that environment is how you should grow. Living in a arid climate your plants are definitely going to be more thirsty than mine. Thanks for watching and happy growing!
@@daniellesorchidranch1591💚 Thank you Danielle. I've been growing only two yrs now and by my experience this is the bare minimum time to know anything about orchids then when I get a new species's (kind of orchid) time starts all over again.😳but...it's soooo much fun growing these amazing plants! 🌱🌿🌱🌿🌱🌿Love, love, love your videos!
Sharon Holmes thank you so much and I agree! After my second year of growing things started to really do well and I started branching out to other types of orchids like deciduous dendrobiums which were very intimidating to me when I first started growing!
@@daniellesorchidranch1591💚 yes, agreed. I started with phals of course, then Cattleyas, Vanda's, and now I just got my first Oncidium, Sharry Baby! So... exciting!🌿🌱🌿
OMG, I hated when I prone to accidents and hurt my plants, I did my Phals 3 days wet & 4 days dry, it seems like they like that schedule, had 1 Phals doesn't like it so I put it back to orchids bark before it die.
That’s what you do with cattleya types... not taken... not really sure if I would try this way but totally make sense! Apple blossom is now on my top 5 list... my seedling died also it was very weak plant... Ancept.... it does like light but as far as what happen to mine, absolutely no direct sun light... and it also likes cooler temp... not necessary cold grower... I mean compare to other catts, it likes cooler temp.
Plant s And other things thanks for the info on the anceps my instincts were to give it bright indirect light along with the iwanagara but I didn’t realize it’s a cool by Cattleya’s standards grower so I will make sure to put it in a spot where it gets good air movement. If you find an apple blossom let me know because I’d love to try again.
Your videos are very helpful! I have an intergeneric for 2 years no blooms. Lots of spotting on leaves. Not sure what that means exactly. What light do you give yours. It had a dried spike on it when I bought it at Lowes.
Brenda Jernigan I give my intergenerics bright indirect light. Some brighter then others depending on what type of intergeneric they are. You find out what the parents were and that tells you a lot about the culture they need. Leaf spotting on intergenerics and oncidiums is fairly common and doesn’t necessarily indicate a problem. If the spotting is irregular or looks wet and seems more like a leaf infection then you’ll want to watch it closely. But typically leaf spotting is just something they do.
Ji An no that’s is not my favorite Cattleya but how sweet of you to think of me! I know that Cattleya is also available from Carmela’s right now and I know it’s popular.
Hanafi Irvan I have never used them however AnnaMaria from the channel Miricle Orchids used them when she first started water culture but she realized they were giving off a chemical that her plants did not like and she stopped using them.
Thank you once again I was having problems with my cattleyas I will try this method and keep you informed great luck with your remodeling
Maria Lopez thank you! ☺️

I am thankful to subscribe to your video’s. But I feel that my life in SW Florida is far too complicated to do this awesome idea
Ronnie McNary-Willis definitely grow in a way that is best for you
Love your videos. What do you do when your orchids are too big for plastic pots?
Thank you!😊
Hopefully move them to bigger ones!

How often do you take the cattleya out of the glass beads. Doesn’t that stunt the growth by disturbing the roots?

@@daniellesorchidranch1591 I found your video about fertilizing your orchids. That helped a lot. Thanks again.
I told you I feed my orchids at 345ppm. Do you think I could be over feeding my intergeneric? I have it now in full water culture.
Is your favorite cattleya Pot, Dick Smith Paradise? I think you mentioned that in another video. It’s available on Etsy.com.

Hi Danielle, the glass pebbles you used are the same that are sold in dollar stores or you need to order from amazon. Pls. Inform me. Thanks.
Elizabeth Dasigan I've gotten them from the dollar store and Amazon.
Does any of your biofoliate cattleya grow and bloom in your semi hydroponics / full water culture? Thank you
Yes
Hello, great videos :). Can I replace the pebbles with hidrogel?
Hanafi Irvan I have never used them however AnnaMaria from the channel Miricle Orchids used them when she first started water culture but she realized they were giving off a chemical that her plants did not like and she stopped using them.
Okay thanks for the answer :) I'll try with my discount orcid
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️
How do you fertilize them? or is it just water?
I just posted a video on how I fertilize them yesterday! You can check it out when you have a chance.
What kind of vitamins of.your.plant.organic or centetic tell me because my plant water culture one month
I use an MSU fertilizer not organic
Hi..what is the medium are you using?
Glass pebbles
Hi Danielle. Your apple blossom story is virtually the same as mine except I was growing it in bark and yes, it died.
It seems many have had this problem with the apple blossom! Apparently not a very vigorous plant!
What the bals your put in the plastic pot?
Media Glas or something maybe?
I use glass pebbles, inorganic and will not build up salts as easy.
@@daniellesorchidranch1591 , ok thanks
