Hi! Important question: how would an eco 14 create less of a melt pool than an eco 12? That doesn't make sense. .. since eco 14 is larger. I'd appreciate your answer. Thanks
@kayo5291 she did...which is why my comment makes sense...eco 14 is larger than exo 12 yet she says that eco 14 can create a lesser melt pool than an eco 12 🤗...does not make sens and as a candle maker I can attest to it which is why I asked for clarification
im so confused because my wicks are tunnelling but they have a big flame and lots of smoke and carbon coming off so...? what does that mean. its not what you described its mixed
I was looking at that also. It seems as if the container labeled 14 is performing as a 12 should. That's if we are following what she said in the beginning.
She said that just because the wick size is bigger, doesn't make it the correct size. Thats why the burn test is important because you will test out which wick is the best to use. In this case Eco 12 gave her no flicker, even pooling etc. I had to watch it twice lol
Hi, Thanks for your videos. I feel like I missed something. If the wick i picked is to small do I double that same size wick or move down a size for two wicks?
Hi I’m using eco series wick and I have read somewhere that u don’t have to trim the wick after ur done burning the candles.. am I right? I’m still new using the eco series wicks. Please guide me what to do.
It is best practice to trim after each burn so that you do not give extra fuel to the burn and burn too fast. I did find expert advice on several major distributors sites with detailed responses.
Those are usually close to ECO 14 or ECO 12 wicks in diameter. I have successfully reused those types of jars in the past using those sized wicks. I believe the “guideline” for multi-wicked jars is to measure the diameter of the jar you want to multi-wick, and match it to the closest sized wick for the amount of wicks you want to use. For Example: - You want to put two wicks in your B&BW Jar and the jar measures just about 7”. - 1 ECO 14 works well in a 3.5” jar. - That would tell me that 2 x ECO 14” might be a good place to start. Then I would conduct burn tests. If the ECO 14 didn’t burn correctly, I would try an ECO 12 or ECO 16 based off of those results. Also note, for best results, the wicks should be placed at equal diameters to each other and the jar edges. Hope this helps! ☺️
Hey! So which size of the wick was correct from your first test? Since it seems that eco 10 was underwicked, eco 12 was overwicked (meltpool way too large) and eco 14 (which is larger than 12 I guess) hasn't reached the sides of the vessel?.. I am feeling lost.
In my tests and candle making knowledge, it seems that either the candles are mislabeled or the ECO14 wick had a burn issue (maybe trimmed too short, too much fragrance, or incorrect wick type for the wax). After seeing the results and the way the wax pooled, I believe the center candle actually the ECO 14, not the ECO 12. The 10 was waaay under burning, the “14” was also under burning, and the “12” was nearly perfect. By this test, if the 12 was perfect, the 14 would have had a HUGE melt pool and would have been throwing soot, mushrooming and had a massive flame. I believe the candles were mixed up, or the 14 wick was not actually a 14 wick, or it had some serious issues in manufacturing or process.
Hello! The wick sizes are not mislabeled. I can see how this can be confusing. One would think automatically that the eco 14 would give the larger flame and be the right size wick for this candle but I picked this specific example for a reason. This is why it is necessary to always test your wicks in your container with each fragrance you're using in it. It is not simply just a function of size, this has to do with the chemistry behind the combustion of the flame which includes the wax, the fragrance used, amount of fragrance, size of wick and size of the container. There are many factors that go into choosing a wick size, it's always important to perform a wick test with multiple burns when choosing the size that's best=) The most important thing to take away from the video is the stable flame height and the melt pool. With that it's always best to test the candle until the bottom! I hope this helps=)

Excellent
I’m so confused about the wicks! Please help.
My candles wick are drowning and sometimes I can’t light if it short. I don’t have melt pool either. It’s always tunnelling. I’m using soy wax and my jar are 3.5in so which wicks is best for this tins..
We only have eco series and cotton wicks so which one?
Hello!=) Are you stating that your jar is 3.5" wide? That's a pretty wide jar for one ECO wick and 464 soy wax. It would depend on what wick series you are using, I often use ECO or CD wicks with 464 soy wax. With a 3.5" jar I would probably test out double wicking (two wicks) =) Please try checking out the double/two wick video we have on this channel=) Thanks!!
@@ProCandleSupply yes I’m sure it is 3.5. I measured it.
@@ProCandleSupply oh my god does that means I’m doing it wrong the whole time? I have made aleast 100 candles and sold to my family/friends 😐 I also have in glass jar and that too getting a tunnel. I’ll measure it later today and let you know
What wick size do you use for your 8oz tin containers?
Hello! it will depend on your burn test as well as the wax used, fragrance, fragrance amount and if any color is being used=) Once you get it down for reach candle you make it is very easily repeatable as long as you document all of your steps very detailed and follow the same steps every time=)
hi i am looking for 100% cotton wick for GB 464 soy wax, do you have any suggestions?thanks
Do shoe strings and yarn 🧶 burns efficient or good like yarn ??
So helpful!!
Thank you
Ur amazing, thank you
What I'ma use is the metal can fruits and vegetables for home made candles. For a thicker flame can I twist 3 wicks or yarn together ???
AMAZING! Thanks for sharing :)
There is a UA-camr that did a test with 3 exact same soy candle
One he let cured 24 hrs the other 5 days the last 10 days and the hot throw was same ..showed it doesn't make a difference waiting
Thanks
