The smaller one looked exactly like some of the mature White Poplars Ive seen in Oregon and in pictures! They have the leaves of maples except with a dense layer of white trichomes on the underside.
If you ever want to grow new pom's those whips you got from the first tree strike very easily as cuttings. I had over 30 whips from one tree one year and I tried to do a fused tree with them back when I had space to grow trees. Unfortunately, I had to move before they had gotten very far and had to lose my collection but they had started to fuse quite well after only a couple years. If I ever get a place with lots of space to grow I might try it again...
Happy Almost New Year to All in The Bonsai Zone!!! Would applying rubber cement to the cuts on the 2nd pomegranate help reduce the type of scaring you pointed out on the first tree? Thank you.
I’m crying 😂 Joan certainly is the center attraction on this video.
Bravo on the transformation of these 2 young Pomegranates into excellent pre-bonsai. Can’t wait to follow them.
Joan is a cutie pie. Sleeping in her little bed staying warm.
Greetings from Spain, we love Johnsie
Joan is a good kitty. Love her ❤
Um gato bonsaista 😂❤
Pom #2 has some cool coarse moss on it. Tree looks good after the pruning. Spring growth ahead.
Pom #1 will grow nice for you come spring. Great clip and grow pruning.
Joan and bonsai...it doesn't get much better.❤❤❤
Loved the thumbnail
Another good year.Thanks for everything
Joan is your best friend. Always there to help you.
Fantastic work. Thank you, good sir
Thank you for sharing. 🙏🌄
That is an extremely unusual cat. You've had him out there for a week and you still have plants on the bench.
With all these scars and deadwood, they almost like old appletrees. Gives some challenge for sure but the flowers are quite beautiful.

I usually plant the cuttings from poms and many will root.
How come you got some many of Xin’s trees?
The Bonsai Joan.
