Just divide 16/1.1 oz for a 10% FO for a 16oz candle. (Same math she used I got it from OP) Let me know if you have trouble for other jars I can help you.
Wow, thank you SO much for this. I wish I could pay you for this video because you have really helped me. I’m starting my own candle business but I have been struggling drastically with the measurements to get everything right. Math has never been my strong point. I was almost to the point of giving up on starting the business because I just really couldn’t understand the math. This video has completely changed that. Thank you again! ❤️
I watched this a month ago and was like.. I can’t do this but watched today with all my supplies and instantly understood. I actually melted wax and done the formula along with the video and made a candle. Perfect formula! Thank you !!
Honey you broke this down for me. I suck at math, but this was well explained. Thank you so much. I rather just use this way, than the apps. Gotta learn this candle math.
I'm a beginner and really needed this break down of calculations. Thank you for taking the time to put this together and give us your knowledge. Much success for you and your business ❤
BEST break down ever.... I have been doing it wrong for a year... a WHOLE year! No wonder my batches have been seeping oil, I've been too high with the incorrect formulas. Thank you!
OK, I just broke down this formula math and now I am second-guessing myself... HELP! My fill line is 11oz. Using the math, with 10% FO, the wax will be 10oz, FO% 1oz. Is this correct? The rule of thumb is 1oz per 1lb of wax, with 11oz and 1oz FO that seems too much??
OMG Erica, thank you soooooo much! First off math was never my favorite subject but the way you laid it out made things so easy to understand. I was weighing water instead of wax to find my fill weight and could not understand why the numbers were off. Thanks again, I really appreciate it.
Hi Erica, its me again. ugh.... After watching this video 1000 times and taking notes starting & stoping & pausing over a period of 3 to 4 days due to the massive interruptions of life.... finally finally finally I poured a successful candle with the correct FO % as well as the fill weight. It's nothing next to an absolute miracle that I have been able to get this. Your candle math formula has giving me the confidence to keep going forward and get my business up and off the ground with this power of knowledge - that you have shared is simply the gift that your giving to this business, and to all the entrepreneurs out here a breath of B-12 that we can do it!! I can't say enough about this video and what it took to get over the mind blockage and follow your steps to master this formula. Oh and by the way if you didn't know it - you're a therapist as well. Over the course of days I was saying your name out loud and talking to you in my garage as your video was playing. Ok by now you know I am your biggest fan and your other video have me hooked as well. From my heart to yours Thank You again!!! Andrea xoxoxo
I’ve been doing my test for a couple of weeks now, using this formula that you share in a previous video. Thank you for the time and sharing all your knowledge… God bless you! And yes, there’s enough ppl in this planet that would purchase from any candle maker in the world… We just need to keep them coming back for more! 😊❣️Wishing success to all of us who have dared to start our own business. 🥂🙏🏼🕯
Me too, maybe feel like back to school😂, but thanks myself to click on this, learn the most necessary math in candle before i start trying! Thanks Memory Box Candle Co!
Girl. Do you have any idea how many candle math videos I have seen and all of them were wrong. Wasted tons of money on supplies and trying different methods. You are a lifesaver with these actually functional calculations. Thank you!
I plan to start making candles as a special gift for family and friends. Trying something completely new. I stumbled across this video and WHOA! This is a class. Super easy to follow and was EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thanks for posting! You rock!
I watched this video multiple times, wrote down the formula in my candle notebook. Made 8 candles with no excess wax left over so far the CT is AMAZING! I use 464 soy way and 8% FO. Thank you so much for breaking this math formula down!!!! You are a GOD SEND!!❤❤❤❤
I have been looking for this information. I have been researching candlemaking and getting my stuff together for a bit. I had seen videos on figuring out your wax weight FO%. I follow you and your information is wonderful. Thanks for your channel and your time.
Thank you Erica 🙏 I've liked and saved this video (I save all your videos) when I get up tomorrow (its currently 10.30pm Sat 16/10/21 and I watch UA-cam videos when I cant sleep) I am writing your formula down!! In my candle book.. thank you
THANK YOUUUUU SO MUCH FOR THIS. I'm just starting and my first batch I wasted a lot of FO. I experienced the sweating and I honestly had no real idea how to do the calculations. This is the candle making hidden gem. I really appreciate you for disclosing the proper information and calculations. I've seen so many various measurements and this was the only visual learning one that made complete sense mathematically. I love math and I wish I saw this before I saw all the creative stuff this would've got me back to candle making so much sooner.
I've never had issues with math or weight conversions, however, when I started making candles, because of the 1% to 1lb formula that most manufacturers use, I kept wasting wax and fragrance or I wasn't filling my jars to the fill line. Thank YOU so very much for breaking this down into a simple formula. I have a strong feeling I won't be wasting or coming up short anymore!
13:50 to 14:50 You have answered 2 lingering questions that I have been wondering about but personally have not heard many address it....THANK YOU and many blessings to you & your business!💜
Two things: This is by far the most accurate and well explained information on how to calculate FO. You have shown that the method used by most others results in errors in FO up to a full percentage.....not good. Second, for candle jars without fill lines I fill on a scale. Tare the jar with wick and fill the jar until the weight equals the finished wax weight. Works every time. Thanks, excellent job!
LOL you are the best I must say that 1 oz for every pound of wax lol is something someone should make a video about what NOT to do thank you for the MATH lesson and congratulations on the new addition to your family.
I failed my math throughout my education journey and your video with all the examples given, using gram, make it easier for me to understand. I really appreciate your effort in making this video. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for this information, I had given up on making candles, but after watching this video I'm giong to give it another try.THANK YOU SO MUCH
Talking about making it easy! Nice job! 👍 the presentation is excellent. Seems like you put your time doing this presentation. Thank you soooo much. Much appreciated.
Ohhh my gosh. I am SO glad I came across this video. This makes me SO happy and much more confident. I had set to launch my website in two weeks but now I can't and I won't. I just poured a candle using this formula and I'm sure the scent throw will be much better than all of the other one's I've poured so far. Thank you soooo much!!!
Hey, thanks for this video. It's an eye-opener. I am looking forward to starting a candle business but i have no idea on how to start. I making some research and came across your videos. They are so helpful ❤
Thank you so much for this precious tutorial I would have make so many mistakes! Like everybody I thought that making candles was just put a wisk (thought they were all the same lol) add wax and a lot of fragrance so it would smell a lot boy was I in the wrong! So thank you for all your precious informative videos! ❤❤ maybe a little more complicated to do but so much more interesting because every candle is a new experience 😊😊
This is the best video I have ever watched! I watch a lot of videos of people who make candles but never share how much of each to put into their process, this helped so insanely much!!❤❤
This was such a great help. I have been sitting on my candle making for a year afraid to do it because of the math but thank you I’m am going to try. Please keep rolling out this great informative content.
This is genius and brilliant and I can’t believe you don’t write a book! THANK YOU so much for this! I’ve been an amateur candle maker for years, and scent and full weight have always been a mystery to me. Not now. I can’t wait to make a new batch! You’re a gem!
So happy I found this video!!! I love your explanation. I gave myself a good slap in the face for wasting so much fragrance oil because I was calculating it wrong. God knows how expensive those oils are.
Thank you so much! This has helped me understand the math behind all that I need to do as a beginner. The internet has so many different answers regarding what formulas to use and I went down a rabbit hole trying to figure out how to calculate my fill weight and FO. This was the best explained formula and, overall, lesson I have learned so far! I will be referring back to your channel throughout the rest of my candle making! 💕👍🏽
Because of you, I got so motivated to do my candle business! I have watched a lot of candle formula videos but this is by far the best! Thank you! now I know and really understand! yey! God bless you!

Thank you so much! I 'am a newbie! Today I made my first batch of wax melts to test out fragrances using your formula! It was the exact amount of wax needed! No waste! Love your videos!
I am so thankful for you!!!! You explain things so well! I was having such a hard time with trying to figure out my wax and FO ratio until I came across your channel. Thank you 🫶🏽
Thank you so much! You answered so many of my questions! Even the Candle supply tutorials don't share this kind of info with us! I wanted to begin testing 1 or 2 candles- making an entire 1lb just didn't make sense to me. But, I was stuck on how to do these individual calculation! Whew! Thanks again!
OMG!! I HAVE STRUGGLED WITH MATH ALL MY LIFE and let me tell you if I had you as a teacher in middle school and high school things would have been so much easier for me. I wish i could pay your for this video, you really took your time and broke everything down. I barely made it out of math class because they taught everything the hard way. Thank you for making this clear and easy to understand YOU ROCK!!
That little equation system formula was awesome. Probably saved me so much time trying to figure out everything (once I start making the candles - which I will! Soon enough.)
Absolutely incredible video! I can't explain how much this helped and I took notes like I was back in high school! I (and clearly many others) greatly value the time you spent making this to teach us! Thank you!
You are really amazing, this video is a god send and really so helpful. There are a lot of videos showing how to make candles and it all looks so fun. But now I know there is so much more to making a candle...The MATHs, THANK YOU!!!
Wow - this is exactly what I needed. Thank you for expertly breaking down the formula and making it understandable (even for those of us who avoid math at all costs!) Excellent!
Thank you so much !!! You just made everything sound very easy and clear!!! I have reached out to other candle makers and so far no one has answered my questions. I understand everyone wants to grow and be humble but there is enough space to help others that would like to learn. Once again thank you for taking your time to breaking things down! ❤❤
I finally got this formula. I’ve only made about 20 candles by subtracting the fragrance oil percentage of the fill weight to get my wax weight and overloading my candles. Lucky I was only calculating about 8%. But this makes much more sense.
This vid was amazing. I am new to making candles & I have been looking for the perfect formula. I feel this will work well I will try it out. Thank you
Thank you so much for sharing this information. It is so useful and simple to understand. I can see that you have experience in making candles! Thank you :)
Omg!! You’re a genius 💖 👑!! Thank you so much for this easy break down. I was able to retrace my steps and see what I was doing wrong. Truly thankful 🥲 for your kindness and for helping us. I know there are apps out there BUT I prefer knowing what’s going on and trying to understand the concept of what actually candle making is. Plus, this is easy math once you get the hang of it 😃. Thank you again 💖🎀🥲.
Omg, my head is killing me with all that maths, it felt like I was in school and you were the teacher.......... I was never good with maths, so thank you for giving me a headache 😂😂
If your vessel holds 10.8 or 10.7 ounces of wax and FO can you round up to label as an 11 ounce candle, same for if your vessel holds a little over 6 ounces, can you round down and label as a 6 ounce candle?
I’m going to have this on repeat till I get it!!!!
Hahaha, I'm back for the third time.
Same!!!!! Lol
Same here
Me too🥰

Thank you for very informative video.
However, I do think you can calculate the needed weight of wax for a container by measuring the weight of water added to the desired fill line. The density of water is 1 g/cm3 ( cm3 = cubic cm) while the density of soya wax is 0.90 g/cm3 and paraffin wax is 0.93 g/cm3. Therefore to arrive at need wax weigh, measure weigh of water needed to fill the container to the fill line and multiply the weigh (of water) by the density of the wax to be used to get the weight of wax needed.
For example: if a container is filled with 100 g of water, the weight of wax needed (using soya wax) will be 100g X 0.9 = 90 g, or for paraffin wax it would be 100g X 0.93 =93 g. BTW this will also work in kg, pound, or ounces, if needed ,since the formula relies on the relative density of water (1 g/cm3) and the density of the wax (0.90 or 0.93 g/cm3) that is:
Weigh of water X (wax density /water density)= Weigh of wax.

I know there are apps out there BUT I prefer knowing what’s going on and trying to understand the concept of what actually candle making is. Plus, this is easy math once you get the hang of it 😃. Thank you again 💖🎀🥲.

If your vessel holds 10.8 or 10.7 ounces of wax and FO can you round up to label as an 11 ounce candle, same for if your vessel holds a little over 6 ounces, can you round down and label as a 6 ounce candle?
