Oh Kerry I love how your allotment plot is a family affair… even more so now!! You’ve made such progress with the move 👏🏻🥰 Brilliant idea with adding your comfrey to the ‘old plot’ compost & the brassicas you moved look so healthy!! Eek I’m exciting for you Kerry! 😅
I think I'll use the smaller one already on the plot for the propagation and seedlings - the big one is going to be for growing loofas and melons and that sort of thing I think...
Hey Kerry! 🙋🏻♀️ Fantastic move so far. You have a terrific family. I am so excited for you and Mark and your new plots. It appears to me that Dorie is happy about this move, so I’m excited for her. I look forward to seeing what adventures you begin! Cindy🌱
Hello Kerry, your new plot is starting to shape up nicely. You have already moved such a lot from the old plot. The snow definitely came, and we still have some lying around now, refusing to go ( South Yorkshire). Hope it is warming up a little bit next week because I still have some tidying up to do before we move over to the festive part of this year.
I got one more good weekend in (part 2 filmed and edited for next week) and then yep, weather'd off now - first the cold, now the rain. Oh well. Nice to be forced to have a rest if I'm honest!
Goodness me Kerry, you've "virtually" lost the plot ! So much work phew.... you must be tired out, but it'll be so worth it and you have time to get everything moved up. I hope Dorie appreciates all this work you're putting in so that she can be on UA-cam ! I love raspberries and rhubarb so yes fetch them ALL with you !! Wishing you many Radox baths !! 💚
Haha love this comment!!! Thank you Marion. Two very hot baths with epsom salts and magnesium that weekend!!! Dorie oblivious but I think liking the new plot. She sat right in the middle between where I was working on one side and Mark on the other and was very content!
Might be worth considering keeping the top and bottom of your new plot for permanent plantings and structures. Then the space in between will be the beds that will be yearly rotated. Going down then back to the start for the rotation to continue. Flowers such as marigolds, nasturtium etc can be interplanted in the beds that are being rotated to bring in pollinators and act as sacrificial plants for caterpillars etc. Having a set rotational plan saves trying to remember what went where and what should or shouldnt follow? The sequence is always the same. A permanent flower bed or two at the front of your plot would make a beautiful and welcome entrance to your plot. You can also have more flowers and especially those with perfume close to your seating area or perhaps grown up some trellis if you are wanting some privacy. Have fun and All the Best Rosanna
I like the idea of having flowers out the front. I couldn't grow dahlias very easily on the old plot because of the flooding, so I'd like to try those on then new plot. I'm not much of a crop rotator because of tending to have a no dig polyculture, but I like the idea of having a couple of beds for permanent planting. Thank you Rosana 🤗
I would put the Greenhouse next to the Polytunnel as it will give it some wind protection but you could also put an IBC tank between them to harvest the water from both.
@@dogontheplot What you could do is put a narrow bed between the Polytunnel and Greenhouse for runner beans as the wind protection keeps the beans more tender plus the watering could be made easier for them due to being a thirsty crop.
Wheelbarrow races 😂. At least the poly tunnel, didn’t need total dismantling. I must say I’m impressed with how much you got done 💪💪. Perfect time to move fruit trees too 👍. Great idea potting them make sure they are protected from drowning and extreme cold as the soil in pots can freeze. Perhaps put them in the poly. Wow how exciting Kerry and Dorie, have a super weekend ahead hope it’s still sunny, Ali 🌧️🥶🇨🇦
Haha Wendy - it does have more Dorie! It wasn't easy to have her down there with me when we were constantly running between the two ends of the site, but next week's vlog has plenty of dog!

Thank you. I'm not going to put it onto the bed (she says...) until I've seen if it sprouts perennial weeds, but yeh the slug eggs could be in there...

Wow, that was a good weekend of work done and you look so happy on your new plot 😊 You are wise not to take the plants that may take bindweed with you and you made me chuckle because it sounded like you were saying you would leave the bindweed for the next person, not the rhubarb 😂 You can never have too much rhubarb, rhubarb wine uses a fair amount and I make rhubarb gin/vodka as well which is delicious. Ah, I always think of rhubarb as pretty indestructible - I'm hoping mine don't mind being moved - I should think not as of course they are supposed to be divided.

I have 6 rhubarb plants on my plot, you can never have too many.
Surely the larger the Greenhouse the better and as for Rhubarb give the excess to family and friends. Good luck on new plot.
So exciting for the new plot. You got so much done in one weekend.
aw thank you Emma
Well done, that's a massive amount achieved already. I agree with Ali, pop the greenhouse close to your shed, so it's easy to move between them.
Thanks Jenny. I'm not sure I can manage that because the shed is on Mark's side... I am thinking I might eventually get my own shed though.
