    10 years ago, in 2014 i bought a house nobody lived in, the owner had a girlfriend and lived with her, he had tried to sell the house for months, nobody wanted it, because the garden was like a forest, he eventually reduced the price significantly and i bought it, random people walked around on my estate picking berries and children played there all day, not realising i had moved in, for years i have improved the garden, chopped down more than 20 trees and removed several old flower beds, now, 10 years later people out on a Sunday stroll are passing my garden, stopping and looking at it, its like a park almost, im pretty pleased with myself

    • @PinkPixie019
      @PinkPixie019 23 дні тому +31

      I can here to say that and I disagree with the comment about it being back like that. Sometimes it's hard to start or even plan when it's all overgrown like that. She's a single mother and works. Having time to clean out something like that probably seemed impossible. Now she can start small, clear some of the trash and make herself a little Oasis.

    • @franhunne8929
      @franhunne8929 23 дні тому +18

      @@PinkPixie019 I agree. She certainly wanted to get that outdoor space back, but it was overwhelming for her. If you do not have the tools (but a pair of gardening scissors and a broken rake) - you certainly cannot deal with this. Even the professional with all his tools at hand took some time - and he knew what he was doing.

      @PinkPixie019 22 дні тому +10

      @@newblackdog7827 That's kind cruel to say. We have no idea her situation or what led to this. Those kind of plants grow fast and this could be a home she inherited or council house and was this way when she got it. That kind of overgrowth needs a professional with big tools to fix and as a single mother myself, there is only so much time in the day.

    I should think there will be several more episodes to bring this back to how beautiful it obviously once was. Wonder if the original garden was her work?
    We don't know the ins and outs but as someone who's always struggled with weight, gardening always makes me feel like I'm helping me as well as my garden.
    Wonder if she'll read this because looks like she's a lot younger than me and it would really help her if she wanted it to😊
    Hope we hear from the occupant, that your hard work will not go to waste and that she and her friends and family will enjoy the finished project, putting in the effort to keep it tidy and free of rubbish.
    The greenhouse will be very handy and she'll be able to have a very long washing line!
    I'll bet there are some viewers who would love a garden that size to care for and enjoy!

    Our garden has gotten so overgrown since my health declined. I used to cut a 50ft hedge with loppers and hand shears. We have fruit trees that are swamped with brambles, hedges that are full of ivy, brambles and briony, a rampant grape vine, fruit bushes that have disappeared and a greenhouse somewhere. That's just the back and side gardens, I won't talk about the front garden!

I try to help my neighbors now . One is my sister , she moved in my mom's house after Mom passed . I love it . But the neighbor next to her moved out . And I try to keep.the sidewalk weed eated and weeds cut down . My brother in law helped me cut a bunch of brush down. Just to get air flow going and try to keep bugs and mosquitoes down. I just didn't get done as much as I wanted too .

      This is why when I have a little shred of health (and willing helpers) we are spending most of our gardening time making defensive gardens... raised stone beds with bulbs all around, hardscaping, iris up and down the fences to keep grass from clumping... it could all go to pot, but at least I give myself a fighting chance. :) Less work than before I started reading about fighting weeds this way, and I'm up against ivy, privet, Virginia creeper and vinca! I even planted some aggressive pollinators for my area -- the sort that go crazy during their season, but all die off in the winter. (Maypop) I think I am going to move some over to the ivy patch and see if they can hold their own against the evil who had nearly taken down the big trees in the backyard before I moved in!

    • @paulet3682
      @paulet3682 6 днів тому

      @@SherrisewingroomI don't think we ever get as much done as we wanted. I have projects, like trying to exterminate thistles, that I start in spring, then it gets too hot, then fall goes too quick and it's winter again. Then there is the vegetable garden and composting, cutting wood for winter and just getting older. Arms or legs get injured and take months to heal or just don't.

    • @1pootle
      @1pootle Місяць тому +6

      Yes you heard her correctly. She knew exactly how big the garden originally was and how she had left it to become unmanageable.
      Fair play to her for being honest and not pretending the overgrowing occured due to small forest pixies scattering seeds in the night..

      Well she’d have been lying if she said otherwise, garden boundaries are indicated on the property deeds, even though they are famous for being hard to interpret accurately. At one point I thought he was going to have to go and ask to see them to make sure he knew where to stop!

    I’ve inherited a back garden like this recently when I moved into a bungalow. I’m in my 70’s so can only slowly tackle it. There is a good shed at the bottom, but the owner has let ivy, holly and brambles cover the roof. Sadly the rain is coming in and rotting the floor as well. Good work on your renovation, looks great! 😊 💕Kira
