- Опубліковано 20 вер 2024
- In this video, I show and discuss 25 albums in my collection that are very important to me. These are all albums I would highly recommend for any music lover. I show records from bands/artists such as
Jim Croce, The Cars, Eagles, Simon & Garfunkel, Linda Ronstadt, Black Sabbath, Boston, Miles Davis, The Stooges, The Who, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Bill Evans, Paul McCartney, U2, Harry Styles, Elton John, The Rolling Stones, Garth Brooks, Nirvana, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Michael Jackson, Fleetwood Mac, The Beach Boys, The Zombies, and more.
#VinylCommunity #MelindaMurphy #VinylCollection #RecordCollection
One thing I forgot to mention was that I only allowed one album per band or artist. Otherwise, I'm sure Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Van Halen and more would have had multiple mentions. Please remember I could only choose 25 and it was a tough decision. Thank you! 😀
Indeed...Cause I Was Gonna Say BOSTON/Don't Look Back Could Have Followed BOSTON[Self Titled Debut]...
@@ELPCOTILLION-SD1970 I didn't see this before I commented on the video. That can be a win and a lose. The lose is you can't pick Wish You Were Here or The Wall from PF. On the win side, you weren't able to pick anymore albums from KISS. 😊
It would be hard as can be for me to pick 25 out of my 1,000+ LPs as my favorites. Like picking your favorite child. (I don't have kids, but I can imagine)
You have a good collection. But you ignored Neil Young and The Replacements. Listen to The Replacements' version of Kiss's Black Diamond and how they improved it. I know you won't but The Replacements are my fav band but you may not like the murky distorted sound of the Replacements or even Neil's vocals, but they are both unsurprised imo.
❤ the Bill Evans, Waltz For Debby album. Please do a top 25 Jazz album video Melinda. Watching in 🇬🇧
Melinda you are such a tease!!!
I saw Nirvana on the thumbnail and every intro you made I thought it was going to be Nevermind, even your Garth Brooks intro!!
I love Nirvana and I know you love hair metal, but I’m glad you can appreciate Nirvana even they supposedly “killed” 80s metal nevermind is a masterpiece every song is genius.
You’re the best Melinda! ✌️❤️
I love the cars debut lp! But for me candy o was it!! Love your choices ty love peace & happiness..
Candy O is awesome! ♥️🔥 Thank you and take care.
Great list; I'm glad you picked 25 different artists, as you mentioned in your additional comment. Just like you, I have eclectic taste in music; there is so much great music to enjoy in all genres.
My tops on your list: Jim Croce, Elton John, Boston, Cars, Eagles, Simon & Garfunkel. Best to you and your family.
Thanks for sharing! ♥️ Have a great night!
Great collection, there are no wrong picks, great music is great music no matter the genre. Led Zeppelin's IV is a promotional copy?? That's amazing!
Great video, thank you!
Thank you very much! Have a great evening. 🎃♥️
Dear Ms M: Your pain is our gain. I have bookmarked your excellent choices, and will be going back to my famous bread-n-water diet to add these to my collection, except for those I already have. Thank you very much
Thank you! I understand the bread and water diet. Lol. Records are more important. Thank you and take care.
and will check out Jim Crice, the Cars and Linda Ronstadt!
They are all wonderful! ♥️
I’m getting that Jim Croce to go with my new Angel Wing when it gets here. I gave my Victrola all in one to my nephew who is interested in vinyl now. Thanks for the inspiration! God Bless You
The Jim Croce record is wonderful. I hope your nephew gets a lot of joy out of the turntable. Thank you and God bless. ♥️
Love your records on this list. But Talk Talk's Spirit of Eden is one album I cannot live without.Phenonimal
Talk Talk was a wonderful band. I don't have that album but I will keep it in mind. Thank you and take care. 🤗♥️
Great list. I started collecting in 1968, and have kept that collection intact. You've validated that collection by your choices, which mirror so many of ones I consider the most memorable to me, like The Rolling Stones 1964-1971 - an awesome listen and Cosmos Factory which I still listen to. I would put "Parsely Sage..." over "Bridge...", but they're both great, and I have both purchased upon release. I don't have Kiss or Black Sabbath or some of your Jazz oriented titles, but I found it very affirming to listen to your choices many made in hindsight of an era I listened to and participated in and is very much an integral part of my life to this day. Your videos rock, keep it up!
Thank you so much for the kind words. I really appreciate it. As an album, I probably prefer Parsley, Sage as well but the song Bridge Over Troubled Water should be in everyone's collection. (IMO) Parsley is such a beautiful album. Why not have both? Lol. Thanks and enjoy your weekend.
Very interesting list!👍🤘🎸 I really enjoyed your video.
Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪👍🤘🎸🌎
Thank you so much! ♥️🤗
Great video. About half your albums were favorites of mine.
That's awesome! Thank you very much. 🤗♥️
That's so sad about the model on The Cars lp.
I didn't know that she passed😔
I learned a long time ago to not give a flip when someone disagrees with my taste in music.
I've taken a lot of flak for liking The Carpenters, Jackson 5, The Monkees, etc. I also love Miles Davis, Chet Baker, The Cure, Joy Division, etc.
I sincerely feel bad for the people who allow other people and critics dictate their tastes.
Keep loving what you love👍
You have great taste in music. ♥️🤗 Thank you and take care.
Thank you so much. I enjoyed your record collection.
I have some of them on albums and CDs. 🙏🎸👍
They are great records in my opinion. Thank you very much. ♥️🤗
Love your list, Melinda. I’m a Bowie and Stones completist and Young Americans is also my favorite and Hot Rocks my first Stones album at 13.
Yay! Someone agrees with me about Young Americans. ♥️ Hot Rocks was one of the first ones I added to my collection as well. Thank you and take care.
I have 12 of them! Fun watching!
Thank you so much! ♥️♥️
Great video Melinda!!!!! Being a big Linda Ronstadt Fan, I think all Linda Ronstadt albums are a must have. Take care
She's great! ♥️ There's no wrong answer with her. Thank you and take care.
3. I have 3 of your most important, but about 20 of the same artist, different titles. Solid choices. Cheers!
Thank you very much! It wasn't an easy video to make. Too many great albums out there. 😀 Thank you and take care.
Thanks for the great tip on the Zombies album!! Got a sealed copy, opened it and love it
Excellent picks....i have a deep love for fun house and nevermind.
Excellent content, channel and you are an absolute lady.
Wow! Thank you so much. 🤗♥️ Take care.
I remember when Fun house when it came out. Yeah, I'm old and from Michigan. Lol
I like many of your picks.
Paul Simon, Graceland is an essential record in my collection.
Enjoyed this video, Melinda. ❤
Graceland is terrific! ♥️ Thank you and take care.
Great Selection thx for sharing with us.
Thank you so much! ♥️😃
No quames here, I think your top 25's are quintessential indeed! Great picks. You've done a lot better than I could pick I must admit because it would take me too long to even shrink the list to 50. With that said home run on every title Melinda. Thanks for sharing as usual.
Thank you kindly! It was a tough decision. There are so many wonderful albums. Thank you and take care.
Great recommendations and love the diversity. Just subscribed.
Wow! Thank you so much. Enjoy your weekend! ♥️🤗
Got really surprised but happy when I saw you put on Harry Styles I. My absolute favourite HS record, it's his best, no debate
Totally agree. It's in my top 10 albums of all time. It's perfect. ♥️ Thank you and take care.
Killer list and I'm sure you struggled to come up with your 25. As a person who grew up more in the late 60s early 70s I would have had to find room for 'Three Dog Night' , 'Charlie Daniels Band', 'Crosby Stills Nash and Young' and some "Steve Miller Band'. I'd have made room by eliminating Nirvana, Harry Stiles, and couple of others. I applaud you for going with Jim Croce, Linda Ronstadt, CCR and Simon and Garfunkle. Great choices, and a very enjoyable video. Thanks for sharing and putting yourself out there.
Thank you for mentioning the other great bands. I do love Charlie Daniels. He was a terrific artist. ♥️ Take care.
I agreed with most of your picks...bill Evans... Miles..quite a range too. I can tell you really listened and enjoyed your collection. I watched the whole vid and subbed👍
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. ♥️😃 Take care.
I have to agree with you about the U2 album that was a really really good album at a really good time. And I was one of those guys who laughed when you talked about the kiss album ..lol Masters of reality is my favorite album by Black Sabbath and I consider it like a must-have! Hot rocks was my first Rolling Stone album when I was in the fourth grade my sister let me have her copy of it. Wonderful video
Hi Rod. Hot Rocks is the must have compilation album. 🤩
YES! Great Selection!
Thank you so much!
All great albums Melinda… and so happy you included Nirvana “Nevermind” 👌🏼
Thank you very much! ♥️😀
Hi Melinda you have a lot of the choices i would have brought (at least half). Thanks for taking time to present these!
You are so welcome! ♥️😀 Have a terrific evening!
Great video as a guide to lead the younger people to great music!
Thank you so much! 😀
Malinda very good, you reminded me of some wonderful music that I don’t have in my collection. Thank you! And yes you’re going to do a jazz top 25. P.S. Linda Ronstadt and Jim Croce are a must for my collection. Thanks
Thank you! I do hope to make a top 25 jazz version some time soon. Have a great evening!
Great list, Melinda. Mine wouild look different, but I can understand your choices in most cases. I did think though, when you announced the second compilation, you would bring up Queen Greatest Hits I (of cource, the Stones' one is a good choice, too). I appreciate your channel a lot. And I like your eclectic approach and that you're not stuck in 1 or 2 genres. Neither am I. And, yes: Jazz deserves its own list ;-) Let's do it.
Thank you so much for the kind words. 🤗♥️ I'm so glad I have been exposed to so many different genres in my life. I have music that represents every era of my life. I hope you have a great day. I apologize for the delayed response. Take care.
@@MelindaMurphy By all means, absolutely no apologies necessary at all. I was not counting the days until your response - I apprecciate, you find the time to answer at all. Yes, we share the love for music and its meaning in life, totally. With that comes the variety of genres. And, memories. My Dad, back in the early 80s, when I was 11-12 years old, showed me, that bands like Chicago, Supertramp (both were mega-successful in Germany back then) and of course Steely Dan have a link to Jazz apart from their radio hits. So that obviously influenced and also shaped my taste in the long run. Jazz now means a lot to me. But I am, like you, wide open: From James taylor to Oasis, Black Sabbath (in the Ozzy-era) to Massive Attack, Serge Gainsburg to Pink Floyd, Bob Marley to KoL, Emmylou Harris to David Bowie, Dusty Springfield to Bill Evans - I am all over the place, depending on purpose, mood, situation, circumstances ... Greetings from your german follower (with a close connection to the US though), right now from Tybee Island, GA (near the beautiful city of Savannah)!
I love your picks! They are diversified and not stuck in one genre. Great video!
By the way, I just bought a reissue of the Bill Evans Trio that you highlighted in this video.
@@MJTheDJ1964 I do have have a favorite genre of music and thats the late 60s through the 70s. Todays music i can't stand therefore I have to go back in time to the 60s and 70s.
@@lox_5017 My favorites go from the early pop 50’s all the way to the mid 80’s. I just sort of tolerate the rest. You have good taste in music.
Thanks so much! 😃
Great collection
Thank you! ♥️😀
Thank you for sharing your quintessential album favorites! I do have 14 of the albums you presented here in your video. I doubt anybody will match your preferences exactly, but I’m sure many of the albums would definitely show up as favorites in other peoples collections. Any true music lover is going to have a difficult time putting together a list, just as you did yourself. For myself, I would match a number of your favorites, and that would be about it. That is the joy of music. There’s something out there for each and everyone of us to enjoy! Thanks for sharing, and by the way, before you started, I knew Odyssey and Oracle would make your list! Take care!
No two people would probably ever agree. It's too subjective. 😃 Odyssey and Oracle is terrific. You know me well. Lol. Thank you and take care.
This is a great idea for a video. Gives us a little insight into your likes. I own all of your top 25 on vinyl except for, I think, six of them. Out of those six there are three I will eventually get. I won’t tell you which ones lol. I agree about Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. It really needs to be looked at as almost a concept album or at least a thought process or feeling that runs through the whole album. I never knew that about the model on The Cars album. So sad. I didn’t even realize she appeared on two albums by them. Nice trivia right there. Another very entertaining video MM! Have a great week 😊
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is a full album experience. ♥️ Thank you for the kind words of encouragement. 😀 Take care.
nice list only ones i like are Jim Croce but i need to get that hits album on cd i love love Linda Ronstadt and few of the beatles albums...great video my friend and i do like Miles Davis..
We can definitely agree on those choices. ♥️ Jim Croce was such an amazing songwriter and Linda has that voice. Thank you Curtis. I hope you're enjoying the warm weather. Take care.
@@MelindaMurphy yes i am my friend. and you to.
I completely agree with Hot Rocks as the choice for the Rolling Stones
It's the best compilation album of all time. ♥️ In my opinion of course. 😀
Hey Melinda, I loved this Video! I'm just really getting started on my own Vinyl Collection and it inspired me :) I recently bought my own copy of The Joshua Tree and I'm so happy to see it on this list, it's soothing almost. I always put it on when I'm about to go to sleep actually. Keep up the good Work!
I'm happy to know that new vinyl collectors are out there. It's so exciting and so much fun. In my opinion, you made a great choice by picking out a copy of the Joshua tree. It's a calming and positive classic. Not a bad way to end the day. Thank you and have a great week!
Nice list Melinda, I might have choose let it bleed or sticky fingers 🤔 but hot rocks is a smoking record!
If forced, I would choose Let It Bleed. 😀 Thank you and take care.
Enjoyed this video Melinda, lots of varied picks which makes it fun. Can't go wrong with any if these! Take care.
Thanks so much! ♥️😀
That's a fun exercise - nobody's list will be the same. Mine includes bands like Little Feat, Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Heart, Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Police, Crosby Stills Nash Young, Neil Young, Grateful Dead, Alanis, Eric Clapton, Fleetwood Mac......
Awesome bands. You have a great list. I love seeing Lynyrd Skynyrd high on your list. They deserve more love. Thank you and take care.
Great choices Melinda!❤You inspired me to check my collection in storage - what a great time I had! Love your Deep Research!
1. Sheer Heart Attack - Queen
2. The Wall - Pink Floyd
3. Abacab - Genesis

24 Out Of Our Heads - Rolling Stones
25 The British Invasion (RHINO) - Various Artists
The list goes on and on - What a great entertaining and informative video Melinda!
Oh my goodness! What an amazing collection you have. 😮♥️🔥 Thank you and take care.
Awesome video Melinda, thank you. You are so fortunate to have friends in the VC that send you such awesome records! That Garth Brooks in good condition could easily cost you 400-500 bucks!! I read that Pink Floyd Also used leftover “tools of the trade” from the Beatles, when they recorded Dark Side of the Moon at Abbey Road. I didn’t know Who’s Next did the same! So these albums are kinda “linked” in rock history. So cool. Great choices, I would’ve picked Zeppelin 2 over 4, myself but it’s a tough one. Kudos to you for standing by these choices. You can’t “get it wrong” when it comes to your own taste 😎👍
The Garth Brooks album was a wonderful gift. I don't understand why we don't have a reissue of that one yet. 🤔 Led Zeppelin 2 is wonderful. A Whole Lotta Love is my favorite Zeppelin song. Thank you and take care.
Fantastic video! Great choices!
Thanks so much! ♥️
I was happy to see Jim Croce on this list. I got that album for Christmas in 1975. Still have it 😀
It's such a wonderful album. ♥️🤗 I apologize for the late response. I was on vacation. Take care.
@@MelindaMurphy No need to apologize. I hope you had a nice time😊
Love your channel! I am going to do the same exercise. I may not be as surgical about it, so I will allow myself to get to 50 Quintessential Albums out of my collection. And like you, maybe I will leave out the widely known and accepted quintessential titles and make it more personal. There is so much I can say about your channel, but it has probably already been said. I do want to pay you the compliment of just being real about record collecting. Your represent so many of us out there who are collectors and enjoyers of good music for our own personal reasons and you leave out the snobby obnoxiousness associated with a lot of collectors and audiophiles. So, a big thank you and I enjoy the videos.
Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words. That means so much. I'm definitely not snobby about the music I like even if not everyone agrees. Lol. Picking 50 would have been easier but the video would have been way too long. 😃 Thank you and take care.
Cool 👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you! ♥️🤗
Great video Melinda
Thank you so much! Take care.
Those are some great picks. Music is subjective, and I each person will have his or her own list of favorite songs and albums.
I did notice that most of the albums were from the 1970s. A lot of great music was produced in the 1970s.
I grew up in the 70's so I am definitely partial to that era of music. Thank you for the kind words. ♥️🤗 Take care.
Bill Evans is a legend here in Sweden! His work with swediish singer Monica Zetterlund is iconic !!! 😋🖤💛…….
He was incredible. ♥️ We lost him way too soon. Thank you and take care.
Good to see Cobain & gang in your list 😌
Thank you! ♥️🤗
Great video I like it
I'm glad you like it. 😀 Thank you very much.
You're welcome
Great list Melinda ❤ Stones Compilation is great of course. 😊 my fave CCR album. I forgot bout that Linda Ronstadt album 😮 OMG.
We can't forget Linda. ♥️😀 Thank you and take care.
I loved your pick of Cosmo's Factory. Offhand I wouldn't have chosen that as my favorite CCR album, but you made me rethink it. When I checked the tracks right now and was reminded that my all-time favorite CCR song, Ramble Tamble (another longer-than-a-single song), is on there, then it's a no-brainer.
I'm glad I switched you over to Cosmo's Factory. 😀 It's such a good album and I love the Heard It Through the Grapevine jam. 🔥 Thank you and take care.
Born to Run…1975…track the album…my number one…but I do love your lists and videos.
That's an awesome record. ♥️🔥 Thank you and take care.
Hi Melinda. Loved your list. Pleased to say I have a couple including the CCR, love their version of “ I heard it through the grapevine.” I have the Miles album as well. Great video once more Melinda. Would be interesting to see your Jazz list in the future. Thank you. Take care.
I may have to do a jazz version at some point. It was so underrepresented in this video. Thank you for the kind words. Take care.
Love your Bowie choice. The song itself - Young Americans is sooo amazing! Never heard anything like if before or since. And you always win my approval when you rate Elton’s GYBR - it is a masterpiece! Great video again. ❤
Thank you so much!!♥️ Take care.
Loved your top 25 albums Melinda. Great selection from rock to country to psychedelic to new wave and so on. Some of them albums wouldn't be my cup of tea, but in the end, it's still a great selection from your amazing library of records! Keep up the great videos Melinda and I'll look forward to your next one.
Thank you so much! ♥️ Have a great night!
Great video. Ironically NELSON and NIRVANA were both on DGC/GEFFEN Record label.
Haha! What a crazy coincidence. 😳
@@MelindaMurphy truly. Although both albums were a year apart. That shows how much things switched up.
The leap from Love and Affection to Teen Spirit was earth shattering
What a challenge! I’d be so nervous to take that on haha
It wasn't easy. Lol. But it was fun. Thank you!
Awesome video
Thank you! 😃
A difficult task! 😮
Definitely! 😮♥️
Great channel!! Just found it!
Awesome! Thank you! 😃
That Cars Rhino is the best it's ever sounded. Can't wait for my Hotel California One Step... I think One Step is a joke, but love that Super Vinyl! We really need In a Silent Way on Super Vinyl, as well, but I love my Mofi.
I'm excited for Hotel California as well. It should be here soon ♥️ In A Silent Way would make a great One Step as well. Thank you and take care.
Great albums am am working on reviving my old collection.
Very nice! Thank you and take care., ❤️🤗
great and eclectic stuff! Glad Young Americans gets more love!
It's a wonderful album as so many Bowie albums are. Thank you and take care.
One essential album for me is Jeff Buckley's only studio album, 'Grace'. I don't think I've ever heard you mention it, but I think it's the best album of the last 30 years.
I have it and it's a gorgeous record. ♥️ Thank you and take care.
i have to tell you that he has two studio albums ,he died in the night they ended all the process of recording the album and when having dinner they were celebrating the end of the recordings and as always after the dinner in the way to the studio and place they were staying ,he and other menber from the band all nights they used to take a swim in the river but in the last night they stayed more time in the restaurant and when swiming ,two speed boats passed at high speed when the two were in the water ,they made waves due to the speed and the menber of the band that was with him didn´t see it anymore ,maybe one of the boats hit him and he lost is senses, only to be found by a tourists boat the next day in mississipi river. Also the band menbers were not happy because when releasing his second studio album ,he wanted more heavy instrumental but the family made the record being released with soft instrumental from the original recordings, so if you really like jeff buckley you have a original 2nd Lp to hear , in my opinion is not that good compared to the first.
@@RUfromthe40ssketches from my sweetheart the drunk?? The now-late Tom Verlaine produced it...was under the impression Jeff drowned cuz he absentmindedly jumped in the river with heavy boots on (he was spaced out)& the current pulled him under, combined with the weight of the boots...heard nothing about a speedboat & Sketches was not soft at all, it's actually pretty rough, in a good way...had no idea the album was finished & the only artist I knew of getting killed by a speedboat was Kirsty MacColl...I wonder if these facts will ever get out, if true??
I'll have to check out HS sign of the times
Sono d accordo grande disco ...anche Sweetheart...contiene pezzi stupendi
Odessey and Oracle, good pick
Thank you! I agree! It's a great record. ♥️ Thank you and take care.
Thanks, there are a few here that I need to check-out. Seems like the bank balance will be under threat again very soon. Thanks Melinda 😊
Don't overspend. Lol. I should probably practice what I preach. 😃 Thank you and take care.
Cars. Was one of my first cassettes I ever bought. Sitting in my deck right now
Very cool! 🥰 Thank you!
I saw a few surprises in there! One record I think should at least be listened to a few times if not added to an "essential" collection is Dave Brubeck's *Time Out.*
I agree! That was definitely an honorable mention. ♥️ Thank you and take care.
When you picked "Who's Next" I said: "you're OK in my book". I saw them 7 times. Best was May 18, 1969, just after the release of "Tommy". I just finished a book on Jimi Hendrix: "Setting The Record Straight". I would have a hard choice between the first 2 Experience LPs but "Axis: Bold As Love" will always be one of my top LPs of all time. Also, I might squeeze in "Surrealistic Pillow" by Jefferson Airplane. Perhaps not the most avant-garde offering that came out of San Francisco, but it is so accessible to anyone who wants a taste of what happened out there.
I agree. Surrealistic Pillow is fantastic. Axis Bold As Love is my favorite Jimi Hendrix album. Thank you and take care.
Outstanding list!👍🌟🌟🌟🌟
Here are my 25 essentials:
1) Bridge Over Troubled Water / Simon and Garfunkel
2) The Joshua Tree / U2
3) Tommy / The Who
4) Quadrophenia / The Who
5) Abbey Road / The Beatles
6) The White Album / The Beatles
7) Blind Faith / Blind Faith
8) Stand Up / Jethro Tull
9) John Barleycorn Must Die / Traffic
10) Deja Vu / CSNY
11) Nash - Crosby / Crosby Nash
12) Paul Simon / Paul Simon
13) Charity of Night / Bruce Cockburn
14) Five Leaves Left / Nick Drake
15) Wrecking Ball / Emmylou Harris
16) So / Peter Gabriel
17) Acadie / Daniel Lanois
18) Hats / The Blue Nile
19) Led Zeppelin IV / Led Zeppelin
20) Chicago Transit Authority/ Chicago
21) Lonesome Dream / Lord Huron
22) Blood on the Tracks / Bob Dylan
23) Brothers in Arms / Dire Straits
24) High Plains / Philip Aaberg
25) Tabula Rasa / Arvo Pärt
Wow! Incredible list. ♥️ There are a few that I'm not familiar with but based on this list, I'm sure they are great. Thank you and take care.
Great to see Odessy and Oracle getting some love. I love this list of albums (although, for me, Bowie's Diamond Dogs and Miles's Sketches of Spain may pip your choices 😊).
My all time favourite, since it's release in '89, is still Disintegration by the Cure. I picked up Robert Smith's remaster on double vinyl a few years back and it didn't disappoint.
I can't argue with your choices. Those Bowie and Davis albums are great too. I need to listen to The Cure more often. I'm not as familiar with them as I should be. Thank you and enjoy your weekend.
Linda Ronstadt box set "Round Midnight", the 3 albums she recorded with Nelson Riddle; "What's New", "Lush Life" and "For Sentimental Reasons", are beautiful listening on vinyl.
I agree. I bought that box set for $1 many years ago at a garage sale. It's the best $1 purchase of all time. 😃 Thank you and take care.
Nice selections. Jim Croce Life and Times (best album), also check out Harry Chapin and John Prime. Others T. Rex slider, and Roxy Music Country life. Best live album J. Geils Band Full House.
Great choices. I still need that Roxy Music album. Thank you and take care. ♥️🤗
Art Garfunkel's solo album "Breakaway" is a masterpiece. My favorite Garfunkel song is 99 miles to LA.
That's a great record. ♥️ Thank you and take care.
Thanks for the recommendation. What a great song!!! Reminded me I was floored by Nowhere to Hide by Eric Carmen a couple of months ago and listened to it on repeat for a few days because of that chorus!! I love discovering new songs and albums. Even after a life of heavy listening, there's still new stuff to discover! Thanks again!
Originally done by Albert Hammond in 74.
Nice to see Linda Ronstadt getting some mention.
Thank you! I agree. She deserves some love. ♥️ Thank you and have a wonderful week!
Great video!! Here are ones that are ones to add for me!! Mine won’t be 25 but I’ll give you 5
1 frampton comes alive
2 miles Davis kind of blue
3 Steely Dan Aja
4 Chicago ii
5 Red Hot Chili Peppers stadium Arcadium
I can't argue with your choices. Frampton Comes Alive was such a massive album when I was growing up. ♥️ Thank you and take care.
Ok, I have to chime in here since you've mentioned Nevermind by Nirvana, a 90s essential. The 90s had just an incredible artistic peak, so here are some of my personal favorite records from artists of that era, all incredible records. I promise you will not be disappointed: 1.) Whiskey for the holy ghost: Mark Lanegan. 2.) Is this desire? : PJ Harvey 3.) Jar of Flies : Alice in Chains 4.) Revival: Gillian Welch 5.) Axxess and ace: Songs: Ohia 6.) I could live in hope : Low 7.) Stupid dream: Porcupine tree 8.) Dummy: Portishead 9.) Either/Or: Elliott smith 10.) Above: Mad season.
You named some great albums. The 90's were a great decade for music. Nirvana is probably the most obvious choice. I love that you game some love to these other titles. Thank you and take care. 🤗❤️
I love it how I have many of your picks. And how can you really pick? I love Blue Bayou from that Ronstadt album, and I ordered that Cars album thanks to your previous videos. I even preordered the Madonna: Finally Enough Love because of your video. I only have positive comments on each of your picks! Now you're having me grab my Jim Croce album :-)
Oh wow! You will love that Cars album. Please let me know what you think of the Madonna box set. ♥️ I really enjoy it. Take care.
In A Silent Way is considered the first fusion (jazz/rock) album. It's one of my favs.
Mine too. ♥️ Thank you and take care.
Hello Melinda. I'm taking the easy way out here. Since this is your list and opinion, I can't agree or disagree rightly with any of the choices; there is no objective ground to do so. 😁 I've never thought about my records this way, but if I were going to put a list like this together, I'd include Sgt. Pepper, maybe Days of Future Passed, Take Five, and Pet Sounds for sure. Let's throw in Close to the Edge, Kind of Blue, ELP's debut, and Abraxas too.
Excellent choices. I can't argue with any of them. ♥️ Thank you and take care.
I love Mamunia!! Also Band on the Run came out in 1973
I'm sorry I misspoke. Based on the comments, there are a lot of Mamunia fans out there. 😀 Thank you and take care.
Fun fact: Linda Ronstadt sang on Stones version of Tumblin' Dice. A lot of consensus choices but no Crosby Nash, no Zevon, no Mellencamp. Wow. Tough choices. Great video.
Linda's version is 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😋
I know. I left a lot of great artists/bands out unfortunately. Thank goodness we don't have to choose. 🥰 Thank you Mike! Take care.
Desperadoes under the eaves is up there for me personally next to Bridge over troubled water as my best song of all time. But as Melinda said, we can enjoy it all!!!
Hi Melinda ,I'm not surprised you picked Boston. lol
No shock on that one. Lol. Thank you and take care.
@@MelindaMurphy Maybe Steely Dan will make the 25 to 50.
These are your opinions, You have the right, Maybe I'm not disturbed by the ones that made me bust out laughing because you mentioned 15 of my top 100 and there are others by bands I chose different albums.
We can agree on 15 of them. That's a pretty solid number. 😃 Thank you and take care.
My Top Ten Favorites
1. Moving Pictures-Rush
2. Boston - Boston
3. Van Halen I
4. Escape - Journey
5. Hemispheres-Rush
6. Led Zeppelin IV
7. Dark Side Of The Moon-Pink Floyd
8. Let It Be-The Beatles
9. Hotel California-The Eagles
10. A Day At The Races-Queen
I love your list! It's cool to see A Day At The Races on here. ♥️🔥 Thank you and take care.
@@MelindaMurphy My dad wore that Queen album out, when I was a kid! 🤣
Odessey and Oracle? Your favourite? God keep you, that’s great. Wonderful selections. Right on for Bill Evans! Oh: I’m just fine with Mamunia on Band on the Run. You’ve made me think twice about Garth. Thank you.
I do love Odyssey and Oracle. ♥️ Band on the Run is excellent too. Thank you and take care.
I love this video. Made me self-reflect about albums that have been most important to me. But too difficult to decide on the absolute best above all the rest. I share a deep respect for many of your choices. There was a short time in the past when music was more important to me than anything else in my life and I think most of my choices would come from that period of listening when, to use and expression of Henry David Thoreau's, it was "serious as death".
Thank you so much! Music has been such an important part of my life too. ♥️ Take care.
You had me at Stooges Funhouse
What a great album. 🔥♥️ Thank you!
The simple fact that only one was a past year 2000, shows me that you have great taste in music for sure!! Not sure if you have these, however I would have included Rush - Moving Pictures and Ratt - Out of the Cellar. Your list is awesome, I just don't know anything from Harry Styles....sorry!
Great additions. I love both of those records. Thank you for the kind words.
Some great choices here. Can I just say (someone may have already pointed this out) Band on the Run is a fantastic album that came out late 1973. I think you’re a bit harsh on Mamunia. Paul had this great knack for coming up with cool acoustic licks. They are scattered throughout his Beatles and solo work. Think Michelle, Mother Natures son , blackbird, junk, little lamb dragonfly, I’m carrying, little willow, calico skies. Mamunia is another one of those but also check out the synthesiser work !
I love some of your other selections as well; in a silent way, simple dreams, hot rocks, Joshua tree, LZ IV all have had heavy rotation on my turntable.
My Sabbath pick would have to be Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. S and G I would go with the greatest hits album. Bowie, I love Ziggy but Hunky Dory is a close second.
Thanks for the video.
✌️&❤
Wow! Wonderful list. Perhaps I was a little too hard on Paul. He is my favorite solo artist and I adore his music. ♥️ Thank you and take care.
Melinda! Band on the Run came out in 1973, not 1970…I agree it’s a great album, I think it along with Venus and Mars were his peak, if Paul could have a peak, he’s such a force of nature! And I like Venus and Mars a little better. Keep ‘em coming, love your videos!
Oops. My bad. I knew it came out in '73. Venus and Mars is terrific. I remember all of those incredible songs played on the radio throughout childhood. ♥️ Thank you and take care.
Nice vinyl collection and really nice top 25. A little too biased towards American stuff, but that's just me. Being an European, somehow, American rock bands don't connect. You've tempted me with In a silent way and Waltz for Debby, I'll buy those and give them a spin, see if they work for me. Thank you for sharing your taste in music and love for analogue with us!
They are both jazz records in my opinion. I hope you enjoy them. ♥️🤗 Thank you and take care.
Hi Melinda 🌞 ..I'm in the minority who really likes Panorama by The Cars so I like all 5 of their first 5 almost equally. Can't defend Door To Door but it 🤷 has its moments. A terrific band & Elliott Easton is a very underrated guitarist 🎸. Have a great day 😀
He is terrific on guitar and I love most of those Cars records. ♥️ Thank you and take care.
I too love Panorama by the Cars! I wish Mofi or Analogue Productions would release an audiophile pressing of this album!
Great list! Looks like I have a few more albums to buy. “Simple minds” and “rumors” are two of my favorite albums of all time! I would also add “let it be” by the Beatles and “tapestry” by Carole King, do this list.
Excellent choices! ♥️ Thank you and take care.
Simple Minds and Rumours are great choices!
