    Hay April, one thing I appreciate about you is you're not afraid to show mistakes. You could of easily edited out the replacement ends of the battery storage rack but you didn't. Thanks for that. --M

    April, your personality is the best part of your shop. Period. As is with any "new' shop, it looks like one has plenty of room for any and everything. A couple of years down the road and your having to suck it in to get around all the stuff. I have a two story woodshop, just added a 16x16 extension 2 years ago, now it is full. In retrospect, I wish I had not have built the upper and lower cabinets with worktop. Cabinets and drawers are where things go to die, not all. It would have been a few dollars more, I saw awesome steel cabinets for shops at Sam's Club. Steel walls are maybe 1/8 " thick, wood cabinets are 3/4". 16 cabinet dividers at .75 equals one foot of non usable floor space. Built ins are permanent. Steel cabs have casters, movable as need dictates. Why is it that any flat service always catches everything? All newbies watching AW might want to consider metal roll around tables and cabinets.

    I think your shop organisation videos are my favourite to watch. Especially because right now my "workshop" is just half of my garage, and it's so messy. I've been working on getting parts organised, but I have a long way to go. So your ideas and videos are inspiring!

    Great video April. I wanted to share an idea for your storage container project;
    For those implementing your idea,
    or as your required to replace the colored containers, I’d suggest considering buying clear containers. By doing so you can see the majority from below or above. If you’ve settled with the colored, you could also number them on the top, bottom and/or sides. Then keep a notebook with a more detailed inventory where it’s convenient to update and view. Thanks again April for all you do to help soo many.
    God Bless You & Yours!!!
    K

    Thanks for the 2 months free Skillshare link, I’ve just joined and can’t wait to dive in. Btw, Velcro makes great cable wraps to keep cables from getting tied up and tangled, I’ve got loads of tools that are wired, I use Velcro to keep the coiled cables neat when not in use. Have a great day ! X

    I'll be darned, great minds think alike, I've been using playing cards as shim stock all my life. I've used them in machine, weld and woodworking shops to space, shim and level just about everything you can think of. Their .010" to 011" thick and you can bet on that!,

    Simple, but clever idea putting labels on the bottom of the totes.
    I feel silly that it never occurred to me before, but given that I’ve never used any open floor, suspended storage, I guess there’s been no reason until now. I’ll file that away for future use.

    • @rogeraustin8694
      @rogeraustin8694 5 років тому

      The first time you can't remember which tote has the parts in it, the bottom labels will become an obvious solution. I've labeled boxes on the side and then they get moved and guess which direction the movers stacked the boxes.

    Hey you have that cauliflower aluminum insert! I have that too. It’s a pretty convenient solution which allows you to change up depending on you application without having to build multiple inserts. My only complaint is that the mdf inserts are kinda flimsy, insufficient and don’t last that long in my case but all I need to do is just create a few out of hardwood... always enjoy your videos April!
