- We are drilling a water well for a customer on a beautiful ranch in the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas. JFS well service is way behind on drilling and I am trying to help him get caught up before winter sets in on us.

About Me.
In 2018 I decided to stop working for someone else full time and pursue my dream of building my log home and starting a small farm in the Ozark mountains. It's a dream that I have had and have been working towards for over 20 years, and due to life changes and unexpected events, I decided to make a leap of faith. This journey will not be without its challenges and setbacks, but I will continue to push forward each and every day to make this dream a reality. I try to upload videos 3 days a week but working mostly alone I am always pressed for time.

There’s a guy on a channel called My Little Homestead who is restoring one of those old cable drop drilling units. I think he had some issues with getting the head stuck at the bottom of the well. Interesting equipment.

Was the ground fairly rocky as typical in that area? The pipes seemed to go in pretty smoothly. That is a beautiful area.
It’s pretty much solid rock and shale in this area.
How many acres is your property? And how did you know where to drill the well? How deep of a well? Is that for irrigation or drinking water?
I own 60 acres here in Arkansas. This was a well for drinking water and sometimes we have to place it where it’s convenient .
I heard someone say he was in a bad accident. Praying for you!
Well I’ve had a few accidents but I’m still kicking. We have just taken a break from UA-cam .

Very cool ! Just had a well drilled at my place last week. In Maine. They went 240’ down. 60’ of casing til they hit ledge. Or bedrock. 7 GPM. I’m sure it varies like it does here but what was the GPM ? Always a treat doing something you enjoy ! Take care Stephen
That’s an awesome well. If you get 5pm here in this area you can consider yourself very lucky. We usually install storage tanks to keep customers from running out of water. This well came in around 1.5 gpm. We are in a severe drought so on a normal year it should improve.

It's good you enjoy the job and still have time to farm. Quick question .. when pipe is going into the ground can you feel any vibration through your shoes?
When we are drilling surface, you can feel the ground shake 50 feet away it’s basically an 8” jackhammer that rotates as it goes down.

What's it cost these days to complete a water well?
Around 30k would be my guess.
Around here it’s about $10k -$12k with a storage tank, pressure tank, both pumps and controller. The price varies with each well. A well with a lot of water will be half that since you don’t need the storage tank and accessories.
Stephen ,what determines where the well be drilled ?
Is it something decided by "Dousing " ?
Do you know the average cost per foot to drill there is?
It’s more of being able to get into the location. He has used everything from witching to computer imagery. His prices are $35-$40 per foot.

Where are you located to have such a shallow well? I am about to build in Barry County near table rock lake.
I'm going have a well drilled in the Ozarks as well,could u give me a ruff estimate on a well,my folks well is 150ft an I'm next door so I'm figuring 150 to 200 ft an it's in the Ozarks,so u know what the soils is like,thanks so much .
It can vary a lot with the area you’re in. We charge $40 per foot in most places unless it’s a very difficult place to get in to. If you are in my area feel free to reach out and we can come look and give you a better idea. Our office is in Clinton arkansas.
