You did the right thing if you don’t like a drink you’re allowed to replace it especially if they are suggesting it. Never be embarrassed to ask for a replacement. Cheers mates.
Dunkin is okay. But it's incredibly corporate. If at all possible, in America, wherever you go, try to find the *locally owned* donut shops. There's where you'll often get the best stuff.
But it’s a part of their whole schtick. Getting to know the “USA culture” (don’t get offended, it’s a joke). For us Europeans it’s extremly entertaining to visit, through Joel and Lias channel, all these food chains we don’t have.
Agreed. DD is for convenience. Will I get a donutthere if I'm in the mood? Of course. My preference is a donut from a bakery. Most Shop Rite bakeries here in the Tri-State area have amazing dounts. And BTW, there are 330+ million Americans and we don't all like that ridiculous sweetness Joel.

I have only had 1 thing from Dunkin. It was a donut hole and it was dry and crumbly. I wasn't impressed.

Try a WARM Krispy Kreme fresh donut. It's life changing! Dunkin is delicious too.
and then try a cold krispy kreme, and your life will be back how it was before.

When my late husband and I were backpacking through America we got a free fresh batch of glazed Krispy Kream donuts. It was awesome!

FYI When you get a sweet iced coffee from Dunkin they use a sugar syrup which sinks to the bottom if you don't mix it up so the first sip will be super sweet. Next time mix it around with the straw or just swirl the cup around. They also add a ton of ice so I ask for light ice.
It's supposed to be properly mixed, the employees just do it half assed. I worked there for 6 years and only a handful of workers actually stirred it right.
Honestly order all drinks unsweetened decline a restaurant sweetening it and add to your own taste from the fixings station. The syrup is sickly sweet stick to the sugar free syrups if coffee flavored in its roasting process isn’t an option. American restaurants turn coffee into milkshakes.
Joel, ice cream cake is a frozen cake (not frozen solid, just very cold) with a layer of flavored ice cream on top and then iced/decorated, usually with whipped icing and sprinkles. Baskin Robbins actually makes some of the best ice cream cakes.

I'm old enough to remember Dunkin Donuts used to be a sit down coffee shop with a wait staff and counter seating. You also got served on real glass- type plates. The best thing was a heated coffee roll with butter on top.

They do not use microwave ovens at Dunkin. The stuffer was heated in a convection oven.
I watch a youtube channel from London where the guy works for Deliveroo and he delivers Starbucks to customers, so yes, people in London do get a coffee delivered
Yes it's usually a convection/infrared oven to speed up the process. Microwave ovens haven't been there in decades.
Dunkin is a MUST here in New England . If there isn't a Dunkin in 1/2 a mile to 2 miles apart in suburban Rhode Island you're in the boonies. My coffee is large ice(no "d" used here) decaf with oat milk. Usually never a problem. One time it was a little dark so i asked to change it. No problem, here you are, hun. I have friends as well who drink Dunkin daily. Sometimes more than once a day. But then again, I needed coffee to wake up for 6th grade!
Yes, native Rhode Islander here. I can walk to 3 Dunkins from home😊. I miss the coffee coolata it was like a starbucks frappe only less sweet

Joel...Ice Cream cakes rock!! No matter who makes them. It's layers of both cake and ice cream with whipped cream "icing". Try whatever brand you see. You'll not be disappointed.
I never tried carvel ice cream cakes but I loved Dairy Queen ice cream cakes

My wife is like Lia in that she always haggles and works it to get a better deal - but drives me crazy in a drive through asking about options. I was raised not to make a scene and don't complain.

You guys made my heart happy that you liked Dunkin’, it’s such a staple here in New Jersey, there’s literally like 6 of them within 3 miles of my house! A huge following in my house, to the point where I have Dunkin’ Christmas ornaments, Dunkin’ shirts, Dunkin’ mugs, etc. A little crazy, I know, but I love it, just like I love you guys! ❤️❤️❤️

I live in NJ too, we have 2 within a few miles of each other! Don't go often, but I do pop in for the APPLE FRITTERS OR ANY OF THE OTHER FRITTERS THEY HAVE WHICH ARE AMAZING! I also buy their ground coffee to make at home.

Boston cream is one of my favorite donuts at Dunkin. And you're right about Charli D'Amelio. Last year Dunkin had a promotion with her and sold the Charli... Which was a cold brew iced coffee with caramel syrup drizzle topped with sweet cream cold foam and sprinkled with cinnamon.... It was definitely addicting and I'll still order it from time to time!

Our KK has the longest lines in Rocky Mount, NC. You wait forever in the drive thru. People love it so much. But I'm not that patient.
Some people can't get to the Dunkin and have it delivered. Some of us don't have cars or driver's license.
And some of us still can't be around a lot of people for fear of getting the 'rona... or passing it to others in the house. And some of us have disabilities. I've never ordered so much takeout and groceries as I have the last two years... yes even a single Starbucks drink and sandwich! 🤣 I also don't have a car, so I hear ya!

Donut with the white cream in the middle on top is a Headlight. I'm 54 and I remember Dunkin as a little girl.
Krispy Kreme is by far the best. (I may be a little biased 😳...my grandmother worked there 25 yrs when there was only 1 in the world ❤)
On Krispy Kreme visits the only thing to get is original glazed. The other donuts pale by comparison.

I know Lia didn't mean anything bad by saying it's lazy to have a drink delivered but I feel like Europeans don't understand how busy Americans are. Most of us work 5 days a week from 8am-5pm (9hours, if you leave on time!) then an average commute would probably be 30 minutes to and hour one way ( up to 2 hours travel time) then we will have to cook, clean, get the kids to sports and get home work done. I don't think we are lazy I think we are over whelmed and it's the easiest thing for us just to have stuff delivered or have a drive through.

Frosting is made mostly of what we call powdered sugar, confectioners' sugar to you, mixed with a bit milk, cream and or liquor, and but on top of a cake or cookie. The cream in the donut is probably made out of heavy whipped cream with just a bit of sugar and maybe some vanilla.

My family is split in half when it comes to Dunkin. Half love it & half hate it lol. Krispy Kreme is my personal favorite for doughnuts.

@@geedavia1785 If you get the ones that aren't glazed, they're more tolerable, but still a lot. The KK sugar glaze is really thick and super sweet. I'm convinced it is just pure sugar dissolved into a little bit of water, just a goopy sugar paste. DD puts significantly less glaze on their glazed doughnuts and lets the flavors stand for themselves.

Dunkin is kind of nostalgic for me. When I was a kid, since both my parents worked, my brother and I would spend most of our school breaks in day camp or with the neighbors. But once or twice every break, we got to go to work with my dad. He worked for his brother in downtown Chicago, and going to work with him was always a treat. It would start with the train ride into the city. Then my brother and I would get two donuts each from Dunkin, and usually Dad would also buy us books from the big book store before we got to go hang out in his office all day with him and our uncle and older cousins and play on his computer when he wasn’t using it. Lunch was usually fast food, which was another treat, and then we’d get one more candy bar or other treat from the train station before going home.

The original Dunkin Donut was a raised glazed donut with a little extension on it, so instead of looking like an O, the donut looked like a Q. You would hold the little extension and use it to dunk your donut into the beverage of your choice. They stopped doing that but back in the day, but it was fun.

I feel like you were already put out by them suggesting you'd made an error with your choice of beverage, Lia. Your facial expression and demeanour made me think you didn't like them changing your mind. I'm not saying they were right, obviously, but I kinda knew you weren't gonna be happy with what _they_ chose for you. Dunkin Donuts was always more of a quick place to grab a decent coffee and if you felt like it a muffin or a glazed donut. Krispy Kreme has better donuts but DD has some good breakfast food. Their chicken salad croissant which was discontinued was amazing but they've made up for it by making the stuffed bagel minis.
Back in the 1970s in NYC, (yes, I'm old) Dunkin'Donuts used to have a truck that came around the neighborhood like an ice cream truck.

That is the color for Chai latte, it is SUPER sweet. It's a mix. I usually get the hot vanilla Chai and add hot water. Deer Park is the regional equivalent of Poland Spring. In Florida it's Zephyr Hills. Dunkin donuts is popular because they ha e options for a good deal of nutritional needs. In Brooklyn NY there are many Dunkin franchises owned by Pakistanis and they have kosher certification in those branches as well as they don't carry the pork/ham/bacon options.they do quite well. It's reasonably priced, and if you have the Dunkin app, you earn a free beverage every so often.the apple spice donut is nice. Each region in the US also carries seasonal products which appeal to their clientele.they also do order on line and pick up so you don't have to wait on line in the store.
There's a Dunkin in London on Baker Street, close to the tube station. Most Dunkins in England are in the North.

North Carolina is home to Krispy Kreme donuts, go and try and fresh hot donut! The sign will be lit up that says hot and now.
The reason that bottled, and can sodas are more carbonated(fizzy) is due to how it's stored within the bottling plant, and warehouses. The stacks are over 50 feet, so the bottles on the bottom would be crushed if they didn't have the pressure from the extra carbonation.

So to be fair, getting small orders delivered to your home was not much of a thing in the US before Covid. When things shut down so much and people couldn't go out, almost every business that could do so transitioned to delivery services. I think we have just become used to it after the last 2 years of dealing with Covid ups and downs and lockdowns. So even though everything is open again for indoor service, people have just become used to the cost of the convenience.

Dunkin Donuts use to make donuts in the store fresh every early morning. Their slogan was “Time to make the donuts”. Now all the donuts are made in a baking factory and distributed to each store. Dunkin Donuts is currently rebranding to just be called Dunkin’s because they making more products other than donuts. Their coffee outsells their donuts.
It's called Dunkin Coffee in Spain.
My cousin works at Dunkin and she has to go into the store every morning to make the donuts

The best donuts near Raleigh, NC is a place called Sherry's Donuts in Dunn, NC. You can smell the fat and sugar when you walk into the bakery.

Joel, don't be afraid to speak up if you don't like something. It's common to request something different if you don't like it. If the company has an issue with it then they are probably not someone you would want to spend anymore money on anyways. Just follow Lia's lead... she's got it down like a champ.
I don’t think he’s affraid to speak up for him self. I am like that in a way, and I am not British nor American, just middle european. I just don’t want to bother people with my complaints, like I know they have to deal with a lot rude customers, and most of the times I just don’t feel like bothering them. Most of the times. Other times I am really set on getting what I want and I have no problems asking for it. So, if it’s a minor thing I’ll just let it be and go on with my life.
