As a rule, tea is leeched in porcelain, because it stains everything else and porcelain allows washing, where any other type of material would leave behind a bitter taste to fresh water. As the saying goes, "Never wash the tea pot." Also, porcelain tea pots are expensive and extremely difficult to keep from breaking, so stainless is used for transporting the hot water, and a much cheaper and easier to clean and handle porcelain cup is used. Also, tea bags are individual serving sized, so putting it in a cup, guarantees the maximum amount per serving, per customer. Also, if several people want tea, they only need one kettle, because the various types or flavors, is leeched at each person's cup. Earl Grey for Joel and Green Tea for Lia.

IHOP stands for International House of Pancakes. They not only sell breakfast food items, they also have burgers and fries. I went to IHOP on a date once and then we went to see a movie.
Lia, you are the first person I've ever seen that salted their pancakes. Usually a sweet breakfast item, maple or fruit syrup is poured over them... and maple syrup is good companion with sausage links or bacon. However, I got to admit... your concoction making a breakfast tacos using a pancake as a shell and filling it with egg, potatoes and bacon was brilliant. Next time try banana walnut pancakes, no syrup needed. Joel, you got the right idea trying an item like the pancakes that you don't get in the U.K. I am surprised that you didn't order one of the high protein pancakes items, like with the strawberry banana topping. Half and half is half whole milk and half heavy cream. Probably why your tea was almost white. Thanks again for the vlog!
I've never seen anyone eat a pancake as a savory item. They are always covered in something sugary. Crepes are sometimes savory, but that's a whole different thing. I think Ihop used to have crepes on their menu, but I haven't been there in ages so I don't know if that's still a thing.
I don't eat them as a sweet, always with salted butter and often as sandwich like Lia did but kind of pig in a blanket. Especially since IHOP pancakes are sweet enough to be eaten as is or just with butter.
Lia, in the frozen foods section at the groceries store, they sell pancake wrapped sausage on a stick ( like a corn dog) for a breakfast food. So you putting the sausage on the pancake wasn't weird at all.
Yeah I came down to the comments to say this same thing. She just made a breakfast corn dog. Heck we used to get those things in the breakfast line at school.
If you want your bacon crispy, just ask for it crispy. I usually go a step further and ask for it burnt. Most cooks should know what you mean if you say burnt - it won't actually be burnt but very very crispy. And I always get my eggs over medium. It's like the best of runny but not too runny, and I can use my toast, biscuit, muffin or pancake to soak up the rest of the yolk
FWIW, pancakes, plain ones anyway, are supposed to have syrup poured over them. It looks like they brought you several small containers of maple syrup, and Lia completely ignored them. Next time, try syrup. IHOP stands for International House of Pancakes. That is what the chain used to be called, and they used to emphasize an international variety of pancakes and crepes. Eventually, they got away from that menu and shortened the name to just the acronym which is what everybody called them anyway.
For eggs: "over easy" means the egg is cooked on both sides without breaking the yolk. Basically, be "easy" on the yolk when flipping it "over". Then there's "sunny side up". This means the egg is not flipped. The yolk is not cooked at all. It is like the sun per say. Hence, "sunny" side up. Then there's poached, scrambled, hard and soft boiled, etc, etc.
I worked at IHOP, International House of Pancakes, while in high school and college. Over easy, med or hard eggs are flipped just cooked for different lengths of time. Sunny side up is not flipped. When you order poached eggs, and you want them runny then say poached easy. Then onto med or hard depending on how you want your yolk.
When Lia poured salt on her pancake and started eating it like a taco, I was like “Nooooo!!!” 😫😂. She essentially created a corndog wrap with sausage filling, which I’m sure was tasty and even better with a splash of syrup lol
IHOP stands for International House of Pancakes. Many years ago they took that seriously and you could order pancakes with a theme to other countries. They even hung banners of flags around the restaurant.
@Spring is in The Air 🇺🇸 Sunny side up and over easy are similar, but Sunny side up doesn't get flipped. Over easy gets flipped briefly to cook the egg whites.
"Sunny side up" is how you'd like your eggs, Lia. Gently cooked with no flip/turn of the egg. Condiments, just ask for the them.A1 sauce is like HP, also Tabasco or Cholua hot sauces are usually readily available as well as salsa in the Western/ Southwestern states.
Eggs over medium is whites fully cooked and yellow is runny. Over easy means the same thing EXCEPT the white isn't fully cooked. Learned that when my husband became a breakfast cook.
Joel & Lia, IHOP has an Assortment of Syrups & Jams, on the Table, for Waffles & Pancakes. A lot of People, like Maple Syrup on theirs ( Me, included!) Btw, Lia ask the Server, for Well Done Bacon & Over Medium Eggs, in any Restaurant, in America. Blessings & Love to you ALL & Kisses to Ava😘❤, Piper & Singer a.k.a My Kitty P.S. Pancakes, are usually Eaten, with Butter & Syrup on them. So, most Americans, use a Fork and/or Fork & Knife to Eat.
It’s always fun to watch you try new things! Ignore the negative comments…there is no right or wrong way to eat it. Even within America we eat it the way we choose to😉
Sausage wrapped in a pancake is a pig in a blanket, so good! We usually have them on a stick (like a corn dog) and dip it in syrup. I have eaten pancakes with just butter, folded in half and eaten with my hands but I've never seen salt added! You should try and Mcgriddle at McDonald's!
Too funny! Lia I was thinking put all 3 tea bags in the hot water, and leave them in there to steep. Haven't been to an IHOP in years, but they used to make what they call Pigs in a blanket, which is pancakes rolled up and sausage inside, so if there is a next time, check for it. Even though this is a franchise, you will find some are better than others because it depends on the short cook, and how good he/she is. Thanks for the giggles, see you soon!
Came here to say this about the Pigs in Blankets, but it's not on the menu anymore, and hasn't been for years; nor do they have another favorite: the biscuits and sausage gravy.
PS, Lia, have your eggs cooked over-medium. The yoke will still be runny, but everything cooked. The more raw eggs are, the less flavor they deliver; thus, cooking them just a tad bit more, will improve the taste.
If she wanted some flavor, she should have had the eggs done over medium and added a little salt and pepper to them. Eggs without at least a little salt can be so bland.
IHOP on US Rte 66 in the 60s was much MUCH better than any of the generic places anywhere in the 2020s. Sorry you missed out but appreciate all your vids always!
I enjoyed seeing the hot tea being double bagged! Reminded me of the most effective method of birth control - double bagging! Separate sleeping bags always eliminates any chance of unwanted pregnancy!
IHOP : International House of Pancakes ,our version / equivalent of HP sauce is Ai Steak sauce but that's only typically is given when a steak is ordered. IHOP serves breakfast all day . Fun fact I just reminded of by watching a a clip from a local news broadcast, back in 2018 ,an IHOP in Hollywood , down the street from the In and out you two went to on Sunset Blvd, temporarily changed its name to IHOB as way for the company to promote it's new bbq burger.
When you order "a tea", the wait staff may be mishearing you because of your accent and think you are saying ice tea. Americans wouldn't say, "I'll have a tea." We'd say, "I'll have tea." Or "I'd like an ice tea or hot tea."
This probably doesn’t help but most places I’ve lived in the US get super confused when I order hot tea. Even just ordering “tea” will always get you iced tea in most places. I’ve lived mostly in the Midwest
Would it be a real Joel and Lia video if Lia didn't complain about tea in America? It's a tea bag and hot water Lia. It's not a gourmet drink in a Michelin 5-Star rated restaurant.
@@borisbalkan707 Hot tea, properly steeped in boiling hot water, then a little milk (not cream) added with some sucralose... is the only way to go with breakfast. Coffee (hot or iced) is vile. ALso, in the south, ordering tea (or iced tea) will always be sweet. I HATE tea with any sweetener (iced or hot)... so I always make sure to say UNSWEET tea in the south. I learned my lesson on my first trip to Louisiana... blech!! 🤣
@@EricaGamet I was raised on sweet tea in the south so that's pretty much the only way it should be done😊😊🤷♂️🤷♂️ but I dont understand lia she says the same thing every time, it's like guuuurl how long have you been visiting and you dont know that you have to SPECIFY you want hot tea?? 🤷♂️🤷♂️🙄🙄 and wtf was up with her putting SnP on her pancake?🤢🤢🤮🤮🙄🙄
@John Collins ...How long have YOU been in America? If you want coffee, do you have to specify you want it hot? Does it automatically come on ice with a boatload of sugar stirred in? Your assertion that "WE (Americans) DON'T DRINK HOT TEA!!" is utterly laughable. Lots of Americans enjoy hot tea... ESPECIALLY with breakfast. And when we ask for tea... we should be brought steaming hot water in a teapot, with a cup and saucer, and several teabags on the side. And it needs to be brought a bit AHEAD of the meal so the tea can steep properly to be ready when the food arrives. We also expect at least to have the option for decaf tea, which we'd specifically request if we were avoiding caffeine. It's lovely when an establishment offers specialty blends, green tea, or herb teas, but we don't hold our breath. A selection of sweeteners should be on the table already. We'd tell the waitstaff if we wanted lemon wedges, or some milk or cream for our tea. The only cold beverages one generally might order with a typical American breakfast would be fresh-squeezed orange juice or a glass of milk. Iced tea is more appropriate to accompany a lunch or dinner meal, and should always be brought unsweetened for the person dining to sweeten to their liking or drink unsweetened.. unless they ask for ordinary sweetened tea or Southern sweet tea. Personally, I'm not into the latter kind of "sweet tea," which contains a sickening mega-overdose of sugar, and has hardly any tea taste. As for coffee, those who like it can drink it, but I pass. It smells nasty to me and tastes foul. Iced coffee is no better. But to each his own. Just don't assume everybody likes coffee or is ordering cold "sweet tea" (ugh!) when they ask for tea with their breakfast.
I'm so triggered by how Lia ate her pancakes. You ordered the best one (original buttermilk) but you should've just put syrup on them and eat them with a fork and knife. You would've loved it
If you want the white of the egg cooked and the yellow runny tell them. It’s normally over medium but depends on the cook. Also southern tea is very sweet. Ask for unsweetened tea and add whatever you want to it. I sometimes just ask for half sweet and half unsweet. Love watching the different perspectives of our food. Hope you enjoy your time here.
I have never seen anyone put salt on a pancake or pick it up and eat it with their fingers. The little tubs were maple syrup for the pancakes. Tastes vary. They expect you to give some direction. I want my bacon extra extra crisp. I want crispy hashbrowns. Can I get some steak sauce, etc.
Waitress here! Over easy/ over lite = runny yolks also some of the whites around the yolk slightly runny. Over medium eggs = whites done , runny yolks. Over medium well = whites done yolks slightly runny, but more of a firm texture. Over well = completely done flat eggs Over hard = also completely done eggs but the yolk is still in tact. Hope it helps when you’re ordering eggs in American!
I am sure this is the first time I have seen someone put salt on a pancake. Lol. When ordering bacon in the South, you have to order it extra, extra crispy. And if y'all ever go to IHOP again, order the white chocolate and raspberry pancake. Or if they have the stuffed French toast. I don't think anyone I know prefers Denny over IHOP.
Wow. The other patrons must have thought Lia was raised by wolves. 1. Never touch your pancakes with your hands. Fork and knife only. 2. Never put salt or pepper on your pancakes. 3. Salt and pepper (and whatnot) your eggs and hashbrowns to taste. It’s assumed you will; they are consequently brought to you neutral. 4. Plain pancakes as Lia ordered are meant to be eaten with butter and syrup. 5. If you want crispy bacon, you are generally expected to order your bacon cooked crispy. 6. Just give up on the hot tea for American breakfast. Drink coffee, milk, or juice instead. IHOP has much better breakfasts than Denny’s, though Denny’s tends to have better dinners.

And I always get my eggs over medium. It's like the best of runny but not too runny, and I can use my toast, biscuit, muffin or pancake to soak up the rest of the yolk
I was intrigued and also horrified by y'all's visit to the hop. Moment of silence for Lia's pancakes😔
Moment of silence, lol!
hahaha
Lol. My first reaction was, lady, please used the syrup on the pancakes not salt.😊😊🥞🥞
Lia's dining techniques are enlightening 😂
Joel's almost American on his feeding method 😂
BTW, the stubble becomes you brother 👍🏾
Listen here if there is one chain that is highly underrated as far as breakfast is The Cracker Barrel. The pancakes are soooooooo yummy.
Ooo Cracker Barrel is so good too. I had it last weekend! I love their grits, biscuits and cornbread.
I had a hard time moving on with the video after seeing how Lea ate her pancakes.😂 Now I've seen it all! Lol!
What we have never ever seen in America is salt on a pancake.
Was gonna say sunny side up for Lia!!😊
There's also over medium, over hard, loose scramble, hard scramble, coddled, French omelette, Japanese omelette, etc.
@@erikhughes8412 Don't forget cream eggs
You’re Supposed to eat pancakes with butter, Maple Syrup
I’ve never seen anyone put salt on pancakes but, it’s her breakfast so, she’s gotta do her.
Plus, peanut butter!
IHOP Come hungry, Leave Happy! Who remembers this one? 😉
They also have the eggs with the yolk on top, they’re called “sunny side up”. I love that term!
I absolutely love their ham and egg melt. My mom would always get what is called the 2 by 2 by 2. 2 eggs, 2 sausage links, 2 bacon. and 2 pancakes.
Thanks to Joel and Lia, 4 portion cups of syrup are now sadly searching for a home.
Sunny side up is the proper term when you don't want your yoke cooked at all. Just a FYI.
@Spring is in The Air 🇺🇸 Sunny side up and over easy are similar, but Sunny side up doesn't get flipped. Over easy gets flipped briefly to cook the egg whites.
@Spring is in The Air 🇺🇸 cool, but they are not cooked the same way
Here in Texas Sunny side up is not flipped, over easy is cooked on one side then flipped over but only for a hot second.
Lia if you want good hot tea in US you have to go to a coffee shop. Chain restaurants usually have tea bags for iced tea, which I think is weaker.
Lia, when you order a "pigs in a blanket", you get pancakes wrapped around sausages.
I can’t stop laughing Lia!!!! Pleaseee next time try blueberry pancakes, just with butter and syrup next time 😂😂😂😂😂😂
"Sunny side up" is how you'd like your eggs, Lia. Gently cooked with no flip/turn of the egg. Condiments, just ask for the them.A1 sauce is like HP, also Tabasco or Cholua hot sauces are usually readily available as well as salsa in the Western/ Southwestern states.
Lia you can put anything you want on your pancakes, it doesn't necessarily have to be boring syrup
Omg I be so obese if I lived in America, all their food looks so delicious and so much variety! Loving all these tour vids guy's...fantastic!! ✌
Where are you at, stuzz?
Most of us are overweight lol
@@Lili-xq9sn I'm in Scotland..just iron-bru and deep fried haggis unfortunately lol
stuZZ: I believe around 35% of the American population is considered obese.
@@dorothypaul4642 It must be all that amazing food that's just too irresistible ✌
I remember when IHOP's had blue-shingled A-Frame roofs. They were known for those A-Frame roofs - but few A-Framed IHOP's are left now.
If you want your eggs really running you want them sunny side up. That means they are not flipped. You guys crack me up always!! 🤣
Eggs over medium is whites fully cooked and yellow is runny. Over easy means the same thing EXCEPT the white isn't fully cooked. Learned that when my husband became a breakfast cook.
Lia has just made her own pancake tacoooos 😂😂
Joel & Lia, IHOP has an Assortment of Syrups & Jams, on the Table, for Waffles & Pancakes. A lot of People, like Maple Syrup on theirs ( Me, included!) Btw, Lia ask the Server, for Well Done Bacon & Over Medium Eggs, in any Restaurant, in America. Blessings & Love to you ALL & Kisses to Ava😘❤, Piper & Singer a.k.a My Kitty
P.S. Pancakes, are usually Eaten, with Butter & Syrup on them. So, most Americans, use a Fork and/or Fork & Knife to Eat.
I love IHOP's. Butter pecan syrup, it's delicious on the pancakes!! 🥞
Supposed to put syrup on your pancakes Lia!!
they're called "sunny side up". and American's love sweet and salty foods together.. International House Of Pancakes = IHOP
@Spring is in The Air 🇺🇸 she said she didn't want the yolks cooked at all, in the end.
My family’s favorite place to eat when on a road trip.
It’s always fun to watch you try new things! Ignore the negative comments…there is no right or wrong way to eat it. Even within America we eat it the way we choose to😉
So you would stick your face in a plate of pancakes like people at a pie eating contest?
You can eat it the way you want on your own, but if you're evaluating it, you have to eat it as intended, and they're doing an evaluation.
When you order add American restaurants just request crispy bacon and they will prepare it that way I don’t think it comes crispy automatically
A sausage rolled in a pancake is called "pigs in a blanket". So Lia you weren't off the mark at all.
I’m a new legend who can’t get enough of you two🙌🏽
Rutti Tutti fresh and fruity is the iconic thing to order at an IHOP.
Not easy, it's sunny side up. 🍳
Sausage wrapped in pancakes is on the menu it's called "pigs in a blanket".
Hee hee..International House of Pancakes 🥞
IHOP is busy earlier in the morning probably around 7 to 10 and later at night.
IHOP on US Rte 66 in the 60s was much MUCH better than any of the generic places anywhere in the 2020s. Sorry you missed out but appreciate all your vids always!
I can't believe you guys didn't put any syrup on the pancakes!!!!
Well, Joel ordered special pancakes with their own toppings already on them. Added syrup would have been odd.
Salt on pancakes!?!
Red Rose tea it’s great for the British people🫶🙌🗽🗽🗽🗽🫠🫠🫠😎👩🏻
I enjoyed seeing the hot tea being double bagged! Reminded me of the most effective method of birth control - double bagging! Separate sleeping bags always eliminates any chance of unwanted pregnancy!
You can ask for sunny side up for your eggs that is another name for them just like how you order your eggs
Omg y’all need to hit us up we have some way better recommendations for breakfast spots..lololol
Tell ‘em
They have been to several dinners
@Spring is in The Air 🇺🇸 you sound a little prejudice…
@@BeachBumsk8 when they come to LA I’ll be more than happy to email them a great list 👍🏾
"It's quite quiet in here. Which always bodes well." Exactly.
I love you both but I cannot eat breakfast with you. LOL
Look at all that maple syrup sitting there untouched. Do Brits actually not use syrup?
Or do like I do. Sweet tea and hot water, NO ice, not as sweet and not strong. I am surprised that they did not mention " RTF&F".
This probably doesn’t help but most places I’ve lived in the US get super confused when I order hot tea. Even just ordering “tea” will always get you iced tea in most places. I’ve lived mostly in the Midwest
The over easy without going over is called sunny side up eggs...
Would it be a real Joel and Lia video if Lia didn't complain about tea in America? It's a tea bag and hot water Lia. It's not a gourmet drink in a Michelin 5-Star rated restaurant.
Yeah I doubt many people are ordering hot tea at an IHOP.
Angel A: Lia definitely is particular about her tea. She found the color "offensive" lol!
@@borisbalkan707 Hot tea, properly steeped in boiling hot water, then a little milk (not cream) added with some sucralose... is the only way to go with breakfast. Coffee (hot or iced) is vile. And what they call cold "sweet tea" certainly doesn't go with breakfast, and it's way too sweet to accompany entrees at other meals.
@@sometimeslyrical Not sure what you're talking about since Joel was quite pleased with his coffee
@@sometimeslyrical Doesn’t go with breakfast? Hun, you better check yourself because in America we drink cold beverages with any meal. There is NOTHING like iced cold sweet tea. It’s proof that the Lord loves us :-).
You put maple syrup on pancakes 😂😂😂
IHOP or international House of pancakes as it stands for is one of my favorite places to go. I basically grew up in IHOP because my mom waitressed there and she would take me to work with her
Cool ❤️😋
Love your pancake pita sandwich, Lia. Brilliant!!👏
Geeeeze guys how long have you been in America? Lmaoooo WE DON'T DRINK HOT TEA!!🤣🤣🤷♂️🤷♂️ if you dont want iced tea you're going to have to SPECIFY EVERY TIME!!! cmon guys you've been here long enough keep up lol🤣🤣
@@EricaGamet Yes. They weren't kidding in the movie "Steel Magnolia's" when they said sweet tea is the house wine of the south.
If you fancy a savory pancake go to the Netherlands. It’s maple syrup in the States.
Sorry that was just disturbing watching her put salt on the pancake in Canada that's a jailable offense❤
Syrup just sits there untouched.
I'm so triggered by how Lia ate her pancakes. You ordered the best one (original buttermilk) but you should've just put syrup on them and eat them with a fork and knife. You would've loved it
Wow! Salt on pancakes? Ok. I've never seen that before 😳
I’m starting to think Lia is trolling at this point… jelly on hash browns last video and now salt/pepper instead of syrup on pancakes. Come on now
If you want the white of the egg cooked and the yellow runny tell them.
Breakfast sausages wrapped in pancakes are called Pigs in a Blanket❤️
Waitress here!
Over easy/ over lite = runny yolks also some of the whites around the yolk slightly runny.
Over medium eggs = whites done , runny yolks.
Over medium well = whites done yolks slightly runny, but more of a firm texture.
Over well = completely done flat eggs
Over hard = also completely done eggs but the yolk is still in tact.
Hope it helps when you’re ordering eggs in American!
Kind of disturbing to see Lia turn a pancake into a makeshift taco, like a toddler -- and add salt. What the hell?
Don't forget the pepper. 😂
No Lia we eat pancakes with a knife and fork here in the US. 🤣🤣
IHOP stands for International House Of Pancakes.
Amen! Well said. Love her to death but she needs a tutorial lol.
Good advice. The way she ate the food was probably why she didn’t care much for it (6.5 rating).

Lia, you put SYRUP on the pancakes (in addition to butter). Some people add fruit & cream, but butter and SYRUP are the traditional standards. Also, eat them w/ knife & fork, lol.

It was kind of funny how she ate her Pancake like if she was eating a Taco !
I’m always amazed how many places across America say “we don’t have iced coffee” so I ask for a cup of coffee and a glass of ice. Some of them all of a sudden get it and laugh whilst many are still clueless. Poor babies just can’t compute 😂
