- In this video I gave Sydney an angled layered medium length bob and then gave her some waves with the Paul Mitchell Pro Nero Cordless Smoothing Iron.
I used Plush, Tidal Wave, Red Carpet to style.

Thank you! I did my first lob haircut just by watching this over and over before I did the cut. She's happy with her new hairstyle, I even did beachy waves for her.
This was the most informational tutorial I have seen from you....ever, I think. Not that I don't love your others, because I watch them intently, however, the need for intense instruction videos on these modern haircuts is sooooo important to me. I love this haircut, and love doing it on clients, but it took me a while to master it. I even learned some new tips from you, so thank you!!!
Yaaaaay thanks soooooo much!!!!
I wish I could have seen everything. He kept pulling hair out of the camera shot and saying "See?" No! I couldn't see it!!
Please be more aware of this in the future. We would like to see the top AND the bottom as well.
I agree, couldn't see
Me too!
Yes, it's a pity and frustrating for the viewer

FINALLY!! Omg, i feel like crying! I have proof that this haircut can be done!! I've been wanting this EXACT haircut the past 3 years & NOBODY has been able to do it! I always end up with a weird shag. The stylist around here seem to be scared to do this on my curly hair, but the angles, especially that texturizing 😍 just everything you did is perfect for my hair! THANK YOU!! Now, to find someone who can execute this the same way 😫
Awwwwww thxxxx n best of luck
I really hope you didn’t make someone texturize your curly hair......that would look so frizzy
Same, Bookwrm4evr. I had a heart to heart with the last stylist, explaining all the disappointing outcomes and asking if she could do this. Walked away with another disappointment and when I complained, after the cut, she told me my hair was thick and that is why it doesn't work. I was so excited to hear him say his model had thick hair.
The look on her face at the end after its curled says it ALL.
bookwrm4evr was
Her face is like: Let me style my hair 😂
*This is my absolute FAV cut to do!! It's so easy, and I've just always loved the whole design of the cut!*
oh my gosh! a haircut video where someone knows what they are doing! great job
So beautiful! You are amazing! I have had so many bad experiences with hair dressers that claim they can cut my hair the way I ask them to, but really have no clue. You are so right about having that great cut that lasts a long time. It looks good when you wake up, after getting blown in the wind, or whatever. Thanks again for the video. You do a great job explaining every step and you speak clearly.
+Kim Capp omgggg thank youuuuuu
That was a a beautiful and detailed haircut. I was disappointed with the styling....
good job
Yeah, a right mess!
She didn't want any layering. So it's thick not soft, still nice.
I agree. The styling is not to my liking. Looks like she didn't comb her hair when she got up that morn. Messy!
Aaaw he spent ages fingering that, and hes trying to set a new trend and ya dissin his art lol! I thought he was great
Thank you so much for this detailed cut. It’s exactly what I needed
Wow!
Amazing haircuts and techniques, thank you🙏
I absolutely loved it! I'm cutting my cousins hair tomorrow and I feel pretty confident I can follow this. Thanks!
+Kim S yesssss
How’d it go
The Salon Guy is definately the best I've seen....does the most beautiful haircuts by far...!!
+Deanne DiPietro thank youuuuuuu but there are loads of other talented people out there.
TheSalonGuy Don't cut yourself short. ;) Credit was given where due. This is an older video and I keep coming back to it! haha
BUT THESE LESSONS ARE THE BEST ONLINE. AMAZING
Woooow! ❤️😻😻 that hairstyle doe!
May I give you a tip...curl from the base of the hair lol curling the ends looks terrible...leave the ends straight to maintain length..ugh those curls killed your cut dude.
Natalie Britt also curl the midsection only, preferably using a curling wand. AND curl away from the face and swithc directions
Totally!!! That's an old fashioned curl job. Ends should be strait and away from face or at least every other piece away from face.
You did a great job The hair cut and style looks awesome !!! Thank you so much for the video !!!
Thanks for watching
Hey I'm apprenticing now. You are so much better of a teacher than them. I know there are different ways to cut hair but since I have learned your ways, their ways seems obsolete. I can actually follow you. Keep doing the step by steps when you have time. They are a tremendous help. Rock on and thanks for real.
Thanks for those precious video's,Your laugh is mijn best part BTW.
Love Watching your cuts!! Keep em coming!
Thank you for this tutorial. Your instructions are easy to understand and your techniques are doable. Love the cut and the style.

I am so wanting this hair style next!! My bob is shoulder length now...and heavy. Great job!!! :):)
Straight and wave looks beautiful
This worked really well, thanks 👍🏻
because of the where the camera is I can't see sertain cuts you do when you're layering.
beautiful!! Thank you!
I love this haircut! great job! I've wanted my hair like this for so long now. process was explained very well and ive learned alot. This young lady (Sydney?) is blessed to have her hair done by you!
+Laurie M aw so sweet of you thanks so much
She looked upset when after curling but this is beautiful cut! I needed this tutorial for my guest at school today! Thanks for this tutorial ❤️
Lol. He can’t style good
I enjoyed watching this so much! I am about to have my hair styled and I am thinking about going with something similar but I must choose wisely >>> My hair is "Thin to None! It's long and I know a shorter layered style will help somewhat to look fuller but my head is kind of too flat in the back too. I'm looking for the perfect style. Thanks for posting such great looks to choose from!
Very beautiful! 👌 thanks!
Love a good angled bob! Curious, what's your go-to when styling a freshly cut bob?
Loved the free hand cutting. Gives great texture on any haircut. i do the same.
Thanks so much for this video, Thesalonguy you are an awesome hairdresser and I find your instructions very clear & easy to follow, you're a great teacher too. It's a pity at times we couldn't see the whole length of the hair, to see how it all fits in. Overall, great cut.
+Dalena Moore i know I'm sooooo sorryyyyyy
Thank you so much for this cut I have struggled for a long time cutting this cut did it tonight turned out nice .
The hair cut is beautiful and curls look natural
Will this style work for thin hair?
Thank you! You help me so much that i was cut my hair and look so good
You did a great job. The hairstyle looks amazing on her.
Thanks so much
Wow the way you texturised that hair was amazing. Maybe I dont need thinning scissors. Beautiful precise technique, from a non hairdresser!
Goodness I loved watching this! I am not a stylist but comforted that he cuts the hair in the same sort of way I do, except my hair is waaaay thinner than this stunning lady's 😍 I'm gonna try to give my hair a little lockdown update now cause its long and dry, thanks for all the nice details I love the little subtle techniques with the razor and softening/blending the layers! The waves really enhance the shape and body of the hair too, my hair dries wavy like that but would like to try for more big loose waves 🤔
Helpful. keep the video coming!
Love it !!!! I wish u were here in NYC
Looks amazing
Cut is fabulous and precise .
I Love this haircut! Thank you! This is so Helpful!😀😍
Glad you liked it!
I really like the way you cut
Nice! I wish all stylists were this detailed!
I tryyyyyy
Great video ! Looking to try a stacked bob for a client of mine . My first one !!
You did a beautiful job😊 thank you for sharing your tips
Thxxxx
My sister used this to cut my hair! Love it! I wish I could post a pic
Beautiful! Your great at explaining throughly and step by step.
Love the hair but you really need to get all the hair in the camera when cutting :(
Wooooaah she's got such beautiful hair! And this haircut was fantastic!!
Thx so much
This is the best haircut & style video EVER!!! I wish I lived near you so I could get an appointment!! 😢😭I have really similar thick & wavy hair and I have gone to many hairstylists/salons asking for this cut. I blame my super thick hair, not the stylists because they all did there very best! I've always wanted this style which you executed flawlessly in this video! So so so talented! #wishingyoucouldtamemymane
Yessss
Wonder where he’s located?
I have thick curly hair but gonna try this cut !
I also want this and my hair is thick, the hairdresser just refused to even try :/
Love how u texturized it 22 yrs my friend 💗🙏🏽🍀
Thx!!!!
Dude, yes it's 2018 and I'm just now seein this, but I can see that you ROCK!!!!! Awesome cut and awesome styling also!!! I LOVE IT! 👌😍💇🏼💁I'm looking for the type of BOB to go with, I have fairly long and fine hair..! It's past the middle of my back so I do have a lot of options, but I don't look good with short hair from past experience ! So a Med. Length Bob is what I'm looking at! Your videos r helping me, along with some other new styles! Keep cutting away!!!
Thanks so much for watching, glad my videos can help!
Great cut! I love watching you work.
Thank youuuu
Cut is ok. The curls....another story
No reason to be critical. I mean...it's a thermal style. It's not permanent.
Rainbo Just being honest!
@@rain3743 If I am a paying customer and they put a finish like those curls on me, I am going to throw a fit. The plain look after the cut is great. But, maybe it's just me, I like simple hairstyles. When you look on TV, all these 'curled' woman look the same, I can't find anything cute or beautiful in that disheveled look
@@Choppini I see your point. I guess I am just defending the cut and not over-reacting to the thermal style. > rareky lije how?a stylist finishes my haur. If they want "beach wave" then an unstructured, disheveled look is the goal. I agree, that his curls weren't ideal. The two other options are flat ironed straight or s round brush blow out.(unless there is a natural wave or curl. I wouldn't do a prom-ish ringlet-like curl in it. Glamorous finger wave would be ok, but that isn't a "salon finish." That's?a soecial event "do" and more $. This look is a strong structure baseline and "loose wave." I would have grabbed a wand. If he had blown it out with a round brush it would have expanded out and looked pyramid shaped, I think. She had a ton of hair.
i love your work for haircut, thank you for 😊
I love the curls
you are the best hairstylist and I love your hair cut.good job👏👏🎁🎁🙌🙌
Omg thxxxxxx
Hi @TheSalonGuy I've Justed watched the Leonardo Di Caprio Hairstyle Video and I'm a big fan of your work. Just Wondering if you could recommend any hair products from your range to work with this style?

Any advice for getting this look with a self cut? My hand/ eye coordination isn't so good for this version.
Very nice! Thank you!
LOVE IT!!!
Thanks Steve!
I looooooooove it! Oh my god, I appreciate the way you did it, and how you explain it! I hope someday you could cut my hair or something I am so serious! Love it love it love it!
+Lula Leoni aw thx gorgeous
When did he cut the bangs? I missed that.
The way you explain what you're doing makes so much more sense then most cutting tutorials
+Sara Langille thx so much!!!
Question? Could I point cut wet or dry to create more of choppy look?
Great video, thanks, I'll try something similar on myself. Gonna use clips though, since I'm not an octopus, lol. You break it down to be so easy.
Gorgeous styled! 😍
Wish you had set the camera further away though, you're out of the frame too much. :/
hey there! I have a question. before I cut my hair I had a layered haircut with short pieces in the front. but then I decided to cut it cause my hair was too damaged. I wanted to have one of those cool piecy long bob, but it turned out to look like "mom-hair" because of my previous layers. Is there a chance to still achieve a modern lob without it looking like mom-hair? and what do I need to ask for when I see a hair dresser?
This hair style is still as relevant today! You gave a beautiful hair cut that can be worn straight, or scrunched. Ohhh, I wish you could make house calls! Since you can’t and we’re in a pandemic shut down (in all of NYS), can you do a tutorial on how one would cut their own hair by instructing the model to do so? I’m being serious. I desperately need a haircut and am not a hairdresser! My salon girl gives such a technically good haircut, that it looks just as good all the while it’s growing out! That’s how you separate okay hairdressers from the pros. And YOU ARE A PRO!!! Due to medical issues, i wasn’t able to get a haircut since December, and although it still looks good (other than some dead ends), it’s way too long and the upkeep is too much!!!! H E L P.
GREAT JOB! Thank you!
Thanks!!!!
I HAVE REALLY LONG HAIR BECAUSE iM AFRAID TO GO TO A SALON. aLWAYS HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE. I CALL THEM SCISSOR HAPPY. IT NEVER LOOKS THE SAME ONCE IM HOME AND TRY TO STYLE IT. AND THEY ALWAYS DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAN WHAT I WANTED. BECAUSE THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING YOU GIVE THEM A PICTURE OF.YET THEY SAY THEY CAN...WHATS THE ODDS OF GETTING A GOOD HAIR STYLIST? 2 PERCENT. BECAUSE 2 OUT OF EVERY 100 CAN ACTUALLY DO A GOOD JOB.
Go to a beauty school & ask for a good student who is about ready to graduate. They are a lot more picky!!!! Plus they take their time & they know they are being watched. This guy is good!!! He cuts hair just like I do. Sooo true!!!! beauty shops are scissor happy!!!! & they rush through everything & are not as perscise
MsCerise007. I did go to a beauty school. it turned out so bad! the teacher had to try to fix the haircut and my hair ended up xxxxxx up!
Free I know this is an old post. Have you gotten your hair cut since you posted this? I hope you didn't go to a beauty school! That was terrible advice.
Ya, I know what you mean. Even I got the best hair cut ever from an expensive salon $85. So I was willing to pay again. I saved up, went to the same stylist and she gave me a horrid cut. I went back to have her recut it. Just take some length and bulk out but she did a total different shape that is even worse! It a perfect combo of Farrah 1970s feathered hair and a mullet. 😱😱 This despite my best efforts to communicate to her. She wasn’t helping at all by asking me questions or anything. Fuck it. I’ll cut it myself or just go to cheap Asian salon. I don’t care. Now I have to suffer with this hideousness for at least 4 months. And I am seriously suffering. Can’t do anything with it. Even a ponytail looks weird.
poor girl, that happened to me several times. Actually, very MANY times. You show them a picture of YOU (from many years ago, with the haircut you like), and telling them you want a symmetrical, layered cut, without thinning scissors (wavy/curly thicker hair) or razor knife. What you end up with is a constantly loudly yapping person telling you her private dramas, hardly looking at you, paying more attention what is being talked about at the neighbor chair, and you go home totally crushed because you look like an idiot, a haircut that has nothing to do with what you look like in that said picture. Only once in a while they got it 'pretty close', but the second time you go there they totally mess up (even bringing the same picture and giving the same explanations), so you have to go to another salon to fix it. And it happened to me that it was even worst after the 'fix'. I only can shake my head....Never happened to me in Europe, in over 40 years, and going to maybe 15 years to the same salon before coming to Canada. I always was excited when I left the salon there, I felt always GORGEOUS! And I can't find a reason why people here can't do that, even in the high-end salons, who charge you an arm and a leg for a consultation with an 'intermediate' or 'experienced' hairstylist. They don't even want to hear what you try telling them about your hair, they say: don't worry, I know what I'm doing. DUH! I have a whole collection of pictures of me after getting horrible haircuts. No joke, it is beyond my understanding what people think a "layered haircut" is, even if you show them the pic of a perfect cut.
Love your real model videos. Even better when it's a blonde!! More like this please!
Great I'll try!!!!
Wow, that is very beautiful look.. I like it..
Thanks!!!!!
You did a really good job! Beautiful curls too. This was very helpful, thank you :)
great job!!
imma dude
but ill watch this
dope job man
Respect bro!
+TheSalonGuy LOOKs Like Shit also you lf† fishtales and curled clockwised on parts in the back whe it was suposed to be counterclockwise. I would never send a client out of my salon looking like that. Courtney loves hair after a coke sex benge looks better then that man come on your giving us male Stylists a bad name here
This comment is on coke
I'm with you, Anthony!!
can u cut my hair lol !! I can trust you with my eyes closed !!!!
please could you do an Extreme lob or I Love that 70's shaggy messy short to choppy long .BTW I LOVE HOW YOU TEACH!!
Where are you x
Omg, this is my dream hairstyle. I spent $70 at a studio trying to get this look, but I was very disappointed with the outcome.
For people with very thick and voluminous hair, how do you thin out the back? I find a lob looks best with my face shape but it gets so puffy!
Question
when cutting the back, why didn't you tilt the head down? chin to chest?
I really Love this cut and color ... Its Just the perfect bob.. you did a beautiful job... what is in your opinion the best thermal serum to use on wavy blonde hair that will protect and not weigh the hair down..
My product Plush, which I used in her hair. Thx for the compliment too!
of course :-) how can I try it
I sell it on my store.
Very beautiful!
For me I’d want an inch or two longer hair though
If you have a lot of breakage that's shorter than that (including a lot in front unfortunately) do you think this cut would look like a mullet?
This is really nice I love the way you cut hair, it seams like you really like it and you know what are you doing. Wish you could be my hairdresser.
+Dina Zejnilovic thx Dina I sure try lol
I wish you could cut my hair like that :D
Looks great!
Thank you!
4 years later this type of style is all we see 🤣🤣 love the cut 👍👍
Looks great! I wish I could get you to do my hair! I have very thick hair like hers but mine is curly and I've never found anyone who can cut my hair right.. So I've kept it long forever but I'm dying to cut it with a cute style like this!
Amber Goodman You can do it yourself
if you like the haircut that you have now you can just cut the length
julia bellei I actually did do this myself about a month ago and I absolutely love it! With the curl, you can't even tell if it's a bit uneven in places lol!
@@Amberg0481 I agree with Amber. I cut my own hair and have done for over a decade (went into a hairdresser for a cut to give me lift at the back and she didn't join the layers and now have a mullet). As my hair is wavy it hides a multitude of sins. A mullet is a mullet, when there's that much of a difference in layers there's no hiding it.
I love this cut and now know how to give myself a bit of a light layered lift at the back.
I really do think I've been put off going to a hairdresser for life. I've been contemplating going to a curly hair specialist but am too afraid of another bad cut but for so much £££'s! I have a 2a wave and just find (like someone else said above) that hairdressers always say they can give you what you want and unfortunately you leave disappointed and with a cut which takes months to grow out to put right.
I've got a creaclip coming and that should help a lot. I'm 43 and I give up trying to find a hairdresser who can do as I want. I've been SOO much happier with my own cuts by far.
your videos are the best!!
Thank youuuuuuu
