So I'm not going to make an argument from authority here so I'll just explain it completely. Expensive wine is typically aged longer, the ingredients are higher quality, and the storage is higher quality. From where you get the grapes, to the wood you use in the barrel. A wine that aged in the exact same amount of time, made the same way, but the ingredients used don't have pesticides, or in poor soil quality it will have a different flavor. The type of wood used for storage will affect the flavor as well. Now the end result is subjective, whether you think that more expensive wine tastes better or worse than the cheap one, one thing is certain and that is that it does not taste the same. There is most certainly some objectivity when deciding what tastes good or bad, but ultimately it's always subjective. However saying all wine tastes the same is like saying all potatoes taste the same, or all grapes taste the same. A good example of this is wheat, look at American wheat compared to European wheat, it has much more glucose hence Americans feeling bloated after eating their moms spaghetti.
I didn't see anything being thrown away, and can only presume that stuff that was trimmed off would be used up for other things, like breadcrumb toppings, stocks and sauces like everyone does. They probably throw away far less food in the Royal kitchens than many of us. I was impressed by things such as the portion sizes. Very interesting film.
Well, it is old, considering that this was the old French president (not the current one, who brought his grandmother during his last visit). Speaking of which: you could tell by the Frenchman's face: "Here we go again! Visiting the queen of England... get prepared to eat like a peasant, and sneak off to a French restaurant after diner..."
Well, remember, the queen is quite elderly. Spicy food likely doesn't agree with her digestion and she probably doesn't want to greet people and shake hands smelling of food.
Oliver Taylor The bread was lightly used for something else, they probably take that bread and then use it for recipes that require bread crumbs or they could use it for savory bread stuffing‘s or possibly even a casual bread pudding or maybe to make actual croutons for salad or whatever
Most of that food not anything I have heard of before but then again I and not British. But I can't imagine life without garlic and onions or peppers. A friend of mine used to make cucumber sandwiches for school but I used to make garlic sandwiches.
@@yani2499 Not really it was my Dad's recipe. Two slices of wheat bread enough mayo on each slice to hold the garlic on and and enough pressed raw garlic fill the middle. And I was already used to raw garlic because of my mom. You couldn't make a bean burrito without raw garlic she always said. And she put garlic on most of the sandwiches she made. I also never got made fun of my garlic sandwiches. In fact all the children who asked about them I gave them one and they would eat the whole thing and say they where surprised they liked it. And if you are a regular garlic eater you don't put off a garlic odor so there is no teasing.
Makes me feel hungry- the Queen is beautiful. I hope she stocks New Zealand wine too. I am so pleased the Queen feeds her Corgis good food, the wee souls.
There is a version about nightshade fruits/vegetables of which I’ve known about for quite some time, but never given thought to, until I saw this part of the movie about the Royal Families dining customs. The version states, that nightshades were introduced to dumb down the population. I now think that it may have to do with the alkaloids they contain. And garlic also has an influence on the nervous system, that is why it is being substituted by the Hindu people with asafetida, which is supposed to have the same taste without the effects of a neurotoxin.

Even they would like to sell, no much people will buy from them, unless you are rich, you won't pay 10x to 100x the price to get something just for true organic.
On the other hand...The chefs seem to love it. They are pushed to perform to an incredibly high standard (for banquets and such) and present the 'Best of Britain'. The palace support staff get hands-on real world event management experience on a global stage. So, all the politics and history aside, the palace offers the commoner the chance to gain the experience and skills that are bank around the world. That's something to consider.
Why do they keep calling foreign food strange 🙄
Ankita Gautam When you like someone, you keep it to yourself that they are snobs -
Undoubtedly they think that Brit food is strange as well!
Jane Fry Exactly - 😂😂
@@nicko3235 blood pudding sounds strange.
Usually good food is good food regardless of where it's from, usually.

Does the queen's doctor curtsey (or bow) to the queen?
All this wonderful food all over the world and y'all be munching on cucumber sandwiches!?!? 🤣
Lol!😀
Sometimes, simplicity is the best.
I think her dogs eat more flavorful food than she does.
@Kwiene Makeda because they showed what the dogs would eat? did you even watch the doc?
@Kwiene Makeda The dogs are being fed at 7:45
@Kwiene Makeda Well obviously haha, I'm just saying the dog food was shown being made :)
At that age she probably can’t even taste what she’s eating
Those fish and chips look bomb!
Those fish and chips look delicious
If I was a royal I'd be obese like King Henry VIII. He knew how to live! I'd ask my chef to bake me chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling and topped with chocolate ganache. Then, I'd ask for brown butter chocolate chunk cookies and Belgian chocolate brownies. I'd order nachos, cheese fries, and Indian food. It would be so awesome to be a royal!
😂😂😂😂 You made me laugh
I’d be right next to you ! I’ll bring a big pot of tea.
YES 👍 EVERYTHING YOU MENTIONED SOUNDS SO 😋 YUMMY❗❗❗❗
But would Indian food be without onion and garlic...No!!!
Not for me, the old guy ate himself to diabetes. His leg rotting away while still alive.
*That was a nice video to give us an insight of the Royal Kitchen* ✅🙂
I would like to see a modern take on this documentary- revisiting the royal kitchens now (I'm assuming this documentary is at least 20 years old).
Adrianna Miller It refers to “the late Queen Mother”, who died in 2002, so no earlier than that.
Yet they talk about what Diana didn't eat...she died 20 years ago.
Adrianna Miller and of course things change when we get much much older, when the queen and prince Philip were young it was still very much the tradition to have this kind of formality so it’s just what they’re used to and now because they’re old they need the help
This is the most depressing documentary I've ever watched
Agreed
You could tell especially when the chef was at the boat
Executive summary: If they wanted to eat, they would order the chef to make them something.
It’s not service with a (fake) smile and a “have a nice day” that’s for sure!
@@L-mo No one in the UK says "have a nice day" that is deemed as being rude and stupid, leave that to the yanks where the average IQ is 75

Ok.. I watch a lotta docs & cooking shows.. this CHEF...those menus/dishes/demos...the camerawork scenery setting AND the stories..the whole package..

I love you Brits but only you would make that preposterous no-garlic/onion rule.
afonsords They don’t want to stink.

@Ken Harris i get what you mean now..lol

@Ken Harris You have gót a long Way to go, friend. On the Road to finesse
The pomp and circumstance will always be a thrill.
Hello from Calgary Canada 🇨🇦
Hello Janet, how are you doing today and I hope you are having a wonderful day
The ’royal sausage’, a particular favourite of Prince Edward.
Who pays for all the good food that is wasted? Referring to the potatoes? REALLY?!
One of my favorite documentaries..
This video must be at least 25 years old -- not only from the look of the Royal, but also Thatcher was still alive...
it can't be that old considering they mentioned a visit with the pope back in 2000.
@@realGolgothas this has been uploadet in 2019
Thatcher also didn't die 25+ years ago either :')
Chef Newbould, you are EXCELLENT!
Yeah and he deserves a bigger room on that boat to
the crowns fish monger is iving his best life omg, he has the most delightful vibe
This food looks bland. I need more diversity in the seasonings.
The food looks delicious..whats wrong w u
Well, remember, the queen is quite elderly. Spicy food likely doesn't agree with her digestion and she probably doesn't want to greet people and shake hands smelling of food.
Blue Blaze yeah if you have the tastebuds of a caveman.
No one cares what your needs are, you are not a member of royal family. Enjoy your Mcdonald
@@blueblaze9862 Nothings wrong with him. If it suits your taste well go on.
Even the dog food he whipped up looked amazing 😂
Most of the guest eat like that every day. I must admit that fish and chips looks delicious.
This is why Harry married Meghan, he needed some seasoning in his life 😭😭😭
Excepy Meghan probably introduced him mayonnaise looool
And why Kate is so damned thin. Who wants to eat that blah?
lmaoo
You so silly- silly right ha ha
Lol
“This is a crouton I’m making to serve the poached eggs on for the royal breakfast”
*wastes all the crust + 50% of the loaf*
Oliver Taylor The bread was lightly used for something else, they probably take that bread and then use it for recipes that require bread crumbs or they could use it for savory bread stuffing‘s or possibly even a casual bread pudding or maybe to make actual croutons for salad or whatever
Zara Royce We’d like to hope.
I was just thinking that 😆
Didn’t intend on watching this as I’m no foodie either but - yum - they eat well! Thoroughly enjoyed this show 🥰
The only thing that's impressive about this video is how plebs admire their masters
The cabin 45 wes the best time of his live
Most of that food not anything I have heard of before but then again I and not British. But I can't imagine life without garlic and onions or peppers. A friend of mine used to make cucumber sandwiches for school but I used to make garlic sandwiches.
that is brave.
@@yani2499
Not really it was my Dad's recipe.
Windy Hawthorn | But what about colleagues you’re sharing an office with?

Makes me feel hungry- the Queen is beautiful. I hope she stocks New Zealand wine too. I am so pleased the Queen feeds her Corgis good food, the wee souls.
After having all these in the meals Queen will give lecture about poverty and how to deal with it.
Absolutely fascinating! Thank you so much for making that available!
Chef: gotta get that intestine out of the lobster tail bc you can't serve royals any intestines
Royal family: eating sausage cased in intestines
Ooohh...the irony
Anna 973 the intestines of sea animals are still filled with waste. The casing for sausages are cleaned.
Good one.
Clearly, the Royal Family was not fans of spice or layers of flavor. Very interesting video however, thank you for sharing !
OK --- I had to stop watching when they said she wouldn't eat garlic, tomato or pasta. Really?
Right?! I just enjoyed a nice garlic & mushroom tomato sauce on my spaghetti for supper!
Brits are bland! Their most flavorful dish is fish and chips!
I agree with you
@@DigitalDezinesCEO LMAO we love our 'bland' food.
Goes to culinary school, end up cooking boring food perfectly.
Those football shaped potatoes look nice, but half the potato is wasted!
yes you could feed half a village with their "trimmings and peels" ;D
No worries - the kitchen staff probably made bangers & mash with the leftovers!
Also, all the bread for the breakfast. I think he could fit two circles in one piece of bread if he tried... just saying
Claire Hoffman won’t be wasted they’ll find a use for the left over bread trimmings.
Just turn the rest into mash.
