- Former Royal Chef Graham Newbould who was once a chef on the Royal Yacht Britannia for the Queen reveals what goes on in the kitchens of the famous House of Windsor.
From TV suppers at Buckingham Palace, to poached salmon caught and cooked at the Royal Family’s Scotland retreat at Balmoral, Graham shows the viewers how to cook food fit for a Queen. He goes back on board the Royal Yacht Britannia where he makes good use of the Royal ice cream machine, and even recreates the wedding breakfast he helped serve up for the Prince of Wales and Princess Diana. i do the same in the kitchen. except when cooking ethnic food where it is part of the dishes. as it was commented, it is indeed - gross - talking to someone and have a wave of garlic or onions wafting across your face. It is one thing what you do at home, but another when you have to - represent -.

The odour is is bad side for all the good nutrients pack in onion and garlic. Garlic boost your immune, onion gives you night vision. Difficult choice.
Just outside my house there is free lamb, fish, duck, wood pigeon, deer, berries, mushrooms, herbs, wild garlic, chanterelles, nettles, plantain and much, much more :)

It is still simple compare to a usual cooking show on tv such as Masterchef in all its international incarnations, Iron Chef.... etc.

@@itsjustmyopinionbut1671 I'm no gourmet myself. michelin star restaurant chefs are the fancy ones. Some of the preparations have so many steps and techniques it's crazy. Some of their dishes I don't even know what they are. In contrast, the royal family chef make good, simple, wholesome, healthy foods. I'd go for the Royal family foods myself over the michelin star foods anyday.

Presentation is amazing and just the way everything is perfect. I’m sure how the foot men place the food on the plate is also a wonderful work of art. Eating breakfast, lunch , and dinner along with tea and crumpets every day . I could learn to love it so much must be a divine lifestyle of comfort food for them. I would miss my garlic and onions but I could learn to live with out them .

Great trick to drying cauliflower florets after rinsing them off. Will definitly keep it in mind the next time i make a large family salad. Also the chef is very knowledgable about his craft and truly loves it. Wonderful to see. 👨🍳 Much respect to him.

I would like to see a modern take on this documentary- revisiting the royal kitchens now (I'm assuming this documentary is at least 20 years old).
Adrianna Miller It refers to “the late Queen Mother”, who died in 2002, so no earlier than that.
Yet they talk about what Diana didn't eat...she died 20 years ago.
Adrianna Miller and of course things change when we get much much older, when the queen and prince Philip were young it was still very much the tradition to have this kind of formality so it’s just what they’re used to and now because they’re old they need the help

My family normally lives until the mid 90s and we don't go through all that trouble. Yes, we eat mostly fresh vegetables and fruits with limited meat. But there are easier ways to prepare food.

Didn’t intend on watching this as I’m no foodie either but - yum - they eat well! Thoroughly enjoyed this show 🥰
On the other hand...The chefs seem to love it. They are pushed to perform to an incredibly high standard (for banquets and such) and present the 'Best of Britain'. The palace support staff get hands-on real world event management experience on a global stage. So, all the politics and history aside, the palace offers the commoner the chance to gain the experience and skills that are bank around the world. That's something to consider.

Wow that fish dish biting his tail was interesting, and the lamb with wine sauce. Honestly the food didn't look bland to me, we can't taste through the screen, I'm sure it smelled great! Sometimes i've notied fresh food with little seasoning makes flavours of that food stand out.

AKP Star That’s an assumption and obviously a stereotype. Being ethnic has no direct correlation to preference and craving variety. Social factors may influence peoples’ sense of ‘adventure’ for food, but still not always the case. A person could be ethnic, surrounded by diversity and still only prefer to eat their own familiar foods like the Queen.

So I'm not going to make an argument from authority here so I'll just explain it completely. Expensive wine is typically aged longer, the ingredients are higher quality, and the storage is higher quality. From where you get the grapes, to the wood you use in the barrel. A wine that aged in the exact same amount of time, made the same way, but the ingredients used don't have pesticides, or in poor soil quality it will have a different flavor. The type of wood used for storage will affect the flavor as well. Now the end result is subjective, whether you think that more expensive wine tastes better or worse than the cheap one, one thing is certain and that is that it does not taste the same. There is most certainly some objectivity when deciding what tastes good or bad, but ultimately it's always subjective. However saying all wine tastes the same is like saying all potatoes taste the same, or all grapes taste the same. A good example of this is wheat, look at American wheat compared to European wheat, it has much more glucose hence Americans feeling bloated after eating their moms spaghetti.
This was a very similar style of cooking I was taught in culinary school a bit old and somewhat outdated now , but still very good bring back dear memories.
As a professional chef I've had the honour of cooking for royalty. You say the food is dull or boring. Incorrect flavours are balanced to the finest detail. Crafting the elements identically plated not once but 150 times is no mean feat. Probably mostly our culinary dense cousins across the pond lol!!!

I don't know about you, but I just learned how easy it is to create a well-presented and delicious meal for the family or a date (if single).
Thank you for so much detail well presented. So nice to have continuity in the edit and no fake ‘cliffhangers’. It would have been easy to produce a different style piece based on the same interviews but jumping from one topic to another every few seconds. This film is instead an insightful presentation that does justice to the chefs and artisans included.

The royal family came from France(Normandy) and for 450 odd years French was the official language of those in power.
That would the ‘english’ hatred and the English that went to war with the French.
