I want to know how they heat this huge castle! The rooms are so huge and then you have the long halls with the highest ceilings I’ve ever seen. Good Heavens! Heating this castle must be a JOB!!
They're usually built with many fireplaces lol, most castles/palaces are naturally draughty, chilly. Thus fireplaces provide relatively free warmth, also the private apartments are heated.

If the Monarch turns this property portfolio over to the government, they in turn receive what is called The Civil List Payment. This portfolio actually earns the British Government hundreds of millions of pounds every year. Just imagine how fast the British economy would go down the drain and the government went bankrupt if the new Monarch decides to hold onto this portfolio instead of taking a Civil List Payment every year. Lots of pomp and circumstance here however, Windsor castle looks so amazing because of the dedication and care of all these people with the duties that have been placed before them. i wouldn’t want the job of doing the seating chart. I have been there once and should like to go again some time. It was amazing.
That tissue paper thing for packing doesn't sound like a bad idea! I think I'll do that now! That Emerald necklace is just beautiful that her Highness The Queen is wearing! I'm not the kind of person who wants jewelry but I would love to just touch something like that necklace just once would be life dream! Incredibly wonderful to not only see inside Windsor Castle but to witness how Guests are accommodated in all aspects. To seeing the well oiled precision in the Royal kitchen (my heart goes out to the Chef, 30 minutes late) and some of what goes into successful staging a State Dinner. Then to also see the logistics of setting up for the performance of Les Miserables. That should also be acknowledged as superbly executed. A lot of precise planning, ensuring the space was sufficient for the production. Again, everything appeared to go off magnificently. It would have been a wonderful experience to have been a Guest of the Queen and Prince Philip at that time. Not only to experience a State Dinner but also see a musical production, all within the walls of Windsor Castle. Being a citizen of the Commonwealth I find it incredible. It would be such a pity if the world were to lose what we have seen here. No different to the way Windsor Castle has been a magnificent part of our history and also a part of our future. Its truly sad that a extremely small point 1% of Elites want to see this all disappear in order for them to take control of the world so only they will have the pleasures of the rich while not only denying this magnificence to continue but wishing to destroy everything it stands for. As sad as the passing if the Queen and Prince Phil has been, I am thankful that they won't be forced to witness the rest of this decade, as it is being systematically destroyed by such a small elite group of horribly selfish individuals. This documentary is a real eye opener to the public. Especially with the documentary crew being able to record all of what was required to record the history of this State Dinner.
I wasn't the least bit surprised that even if the delay wasn't directly their fault the honored guest felt no great immediacy to find their places the table, after all they are the most important people in the world. Was anyone stupid enough to complain about their fish? Why wasn't the kitchen warned? Oh my oh my, first world problems in England.
This reminded me of my days when I was director of catering at a local university where as part of senior management we were expected to provide catering services for state guests on various occasions, the planning was meticulously arranged and am impressed by Prince Phillip's hands on approach...how wonderful,certainly worth emulating.

I’ve been to Windsor Castle twice because most of it is open to the public. I remember the great hall where the queen holds her yearly banquets. It is truly magnificent and if you have the time and funds, DO visit it!

Whatever one thinks of monarchy it cannot be disputed that no nation does pomp & ceremony quite like Britain.From State occasions such as Trooping the Colour to hosting visiting Heads of State.From Royal Weddings to State Funerals we can be justifiably proud.And no I'm not a monarchist,before anyone accuses me of being such.

I’ve been to Windsor Castle twice because most of it is open to the public. I remember the great hall where the queen holds her yearly banquets. It is truly magnificent and if you have the time and funds, DO visit it!
The majority of state banquets are held in the ballroom at buckingham palace
@@lsmith9249 yes that may be true but there is at least one large dinner held at Windsor Castle in the Great Hall which I’ve been through, you’re allowed to see it on the tour.
@@gmar7836 quite a few have been held at Windsor Castle, they take place in St George's Hall
but in normal circumstances there are 2 state every year and not that many have been held in Windsor
the Majority still take place in Buckingham Palace

A waste?! Can you imagine how many thousends of pounds each year are being made by tourists coming to visit this castle? That´s a massive economic factor many republics will never reach and envy Britain for to bits. The british people can be proud of such a great inheritance! The fact it´s still used makes it even more special and precious.
The tourism value has been calculated in terms of billions actually. I forget the figure.
