Great shot as always Tom! I've always enjoyed the shots of scenery, wildlife or anything of interest you've employed in you video's. It's too bad that there are so many trespassers, there should be a move a foot to address this issue; that might include new infrastructure. - Larry
Thanks Larry. I'm glad you like the background scenery that I include! I agree that the trespasser issue needs to be dealt with. Probably fencing along the right of way and a pedestrian bridge at the middle of town would probably solve most of it.
Bernalillo should do what DC did for the section of the CSX Met Sub adjacent to Rhode Island Ave metro station and build a pedestrian bridge over the tracks.
it is hard to tell the difference of a p40 from a p42 but back when the p40 was introduced to amtrak, it had a single windshield and strobe lights above the windshields. they also had a cab on the rear end too. amtrak removed those features and split the windshield into two windows once they restored the p40s.
The P40 had the same windshield as the P42s do. It was never a single windshield. The rear “cab” wasn’t a cab. Just an extra window and what’s known as a “Hostlers station”. It was to facilitate easier backup moves. But they were removed as were the terribly ineffective strobe lights.
You think that would help? Why climb steps when one can just walk across the tracks? Common sense this day and age has left the building. Don't get me wrong the walkover is a good idea and might even be a good place for taking photos and videos but, you still got those that won't use it. Safety can't fix stupid.
It bothers me to see kids my age walking along the right of way, especially taking pictures. We all love a good trackside picture, but I feel like it is a dumb idea to go on the tracks and take pictures like that. If you are going to, I think it's their responsibilty to know the schedule and have someone on the lookout for an unexpected freight.
Since this video was made, there is now a dedicated pedestrian crossing at this spot. It's also messed up some of the approaches for shooting video so I don't hang out here much, but I think it's working. Trains now move through here at 75 mph instead of 40.
@@YardLimit Thanks. I know it's hard to see and hear everything. Even if a train goes into emergency, right in front of you, you might not see the exact problem that caused the emergency. It's the luck of the draw.
Trains and wildlife, you can't go wrong there. The Rio Grande is moving nicely.
Thanks Jodie!
AMTRAKS engineers & crews are amazing.❤️👋😃
How true! Thanks you for the comment!
@@YardLimit I guess I blinked & missed what the emergency was??

This year from yesterday and today in West Sacramento i saw 2 people walking down the tracks and not paying attention but good catch
Thanks!
Excellent video Tom
Thanks Pete!

They probably should but it's all about money.

Aside from the numbering, I can't tell any difference.
I’m pretty sure the P40 dose not have a back door,
But the P42 dose.

@@phoenixsmith8148 P40 and P42’s both have rear doors. It’s only the P32AC-DM’s that lack the rear door.
So exactly what did happen ? Was a trespasser hit by the train ?
No
Nice video
Thanks!
Why doesn't the railroad put in a few footbridges or foot crossing across the right of way? It would likely reduce the amount of trespassing.
I think the village of Bernalillo is trying to do something like that. I've also heard talk of fencing off the right of way through town.
Yard Limit Ah ok.

Also makes a good place to drop rocks from.

The kids in this video weren't taking pictures, they were just going from one side of town to the other, but your point is well taken.

@@YardLimit you should try to get a video of them coming through this area at high speed
I have lots of video coming through this area now at track speed. Just check out my videos.
0:36 Would have been amazing if it was 42 and 822.
How true. Thanks for watching.
How many tons of Amtrak passenger wagons? Aren't 2 locomotives too much for 8-11 wagons?
No. Two locomotives are required to climb the grade at Raton Pass which is 3.3%.
Awesome video👍
Thank you!
Your welcome:-)
Yours too!
Loooooove your video.
Thanks Michael!
Great video! You can't fix stupid, I guess.
Thanks! Nope, you can't!
Would have been nice to see the train, go into emergency.
I'll try to arrange that next time.

42 is a P42DC
Yes, the P40's are 800 series locomotives.
