It is so spectacular that the communication and ability to help a passenger with a medical emergency is so well coordinated! Kudos to the engineers and attendants !
It was very commendable for such expertise, and humility of this unexpected medical occurrence. The passenger aboard the Amtrak was, administered immediate attention. Amtrak personnel's engineer to the rescue, timely at that! Duration of the current circumstances experienced then. Thank God the matter was taken care of, throughout the delays as such! Smile. I'm definitely elated period, because the other viewer commented on, a bygone era of deep affection, enjoying and admiring the pleasure of, traveling with a parent. As the engineer then, was the father. Who was employed to drive the train. I know it was pleasurable of course. Thanks soo very much for all the photos, past & current. Amtrak itself, is in the winners circle for.sure! I'm almost 75 yrs old, can hardly wait to experience, traveling long distance. Amtrak NYC via Chicago, aboard the Southwest Chief to LA last stop. Superliner Bedroom Suite with all the amenities. 2 bathrooms inside the room. I'm patient though! Smile. lol. KUDOS!! AMTRAK!!
Beautiful train! Use to ride the trains as a small child. Many, many years ago. My Dad was an engineer on Central Pacfic Railrays before WWII. LOVED riding the train.
CJ!!!. I really enjoyed your video. Plus I enjoyed hearing your passion and joy you have! In addition, you really know your stuff about trains, equipment. Well done. I was so impressed. It was a pleasure to watch.
It's soo amazing in this era & century, as such. To have your car to board for travel, along with yourself. What a blessing! Like the CSX rail cars, very consistent on those tracks. Which is shared by Amtrak passenger train cars. Delays is why the departure & arrivals, are stressful to passengers. The freight has to be by rail, the system itself is competitive by all means! Everything is about time & schedule. The same is done by the NYC subway, as well! Local & express tracks are utilized, by certain trains. Especially when that service is needed the most! Rush hour, on peak, & off peak. NYC subway system of the 5 Boroughs, & Counties is the biggest ever! I love the cross sign bell signal, also the ringing of the bell, inside the cab of the engineer. Thank yuuu again Amtrak, love yuuu all endlessly! Smile. KUDOS!! Happy belated Christmas holiday, also the current New Year of, 2023. Hopefully it'll remain reflective and gratifying! Smile.
The emergency stop at Fayetteville is being handled, accordingly as such in regards to a passenger. Who is ill possibly, and the Amtrak.engineer is excellent, in accomodating duration of the issue at hand. Smile. The crew itself is superb, diligent as ever in proceeding the timely guidelines. KUDOS!! Smile. God bless them all, patience is a virtue. Love yuuu sooo much Amtrak peeps! Your pattern of professionalism has stood, the test of time endlessly! I'm elated of these videos period. The railroad system itself of the era, 1950 throughout to this era. Happpy as era, to live this timeliness. Magnificent! Marvelous!
Great video! Very rare to watch anything like that. I though the crew was yelling at you. When you get the opportunity you should ride the Auto Train. Great trip.
After viewing this video, I can honestly say that this is among the very best I've ever seen of Auto Train. The video content is outstanding. you also have a unique personallity and mannerism that I find quite refreshing. My wife, although not a big railfan, nonetheless likes trains and also shares my sentiments here, as she has viewed some of your work. We both say BRAVO!
Please look down in the comments next time before posting comments because EIGHT different people stated that already and I realized my error the first time, which is why I renamed my title. Thanks for commenting though
Well because what are they supposed to do use the emergency brakes to stop BETWEEN stations where anything can happen? Because stopping normally stopping at a station is just so unsafe
The crew member that you were talking to at 4:30 is the conductor I believe. The engineer’s seat is on the right side of the locomotive and the conductor’s seat is on the left side on the #1 or short hood end.
Just found this. My mother fell and broke her ankle while we were heading south on the Auto Trsin. We were put off in Dunn, MC while our car continued to Florida. The next morning, Amtrak put us on the Silver Meteor and dropped us in DC, got us a cab to Lorton where the car was waiting. Everyone was so kind to us. I’m ready to ride Amtrak in the future .
@@Ohio_Photographer thank you. She died 6 weeks later - no fault of Amtrak. Just wish they would improve the rails- very rough on the return back to Virginia. The Auto Train uses CSX rails- much smoother.
I railfan because its comforting to me. Helps me take my mind off of the damn wisconsin cold weather. Plus ive always been into trains my entire life. But at least i know how not to talk when im filming, and i follow proper rail safety. You should try it sometime
Amtrak 19 had one of these today. As soon as the train reported it, I had flashbacks to this video. It was my first and hopefully last Amtrak medical emergency.
Sure hope this doesn't happen to me on my first day on duty with CVSR. But, if it does, at least I'll be prepared. Great video, horn and fellow train crew.
Great Video and great content keep up the great work my friend thanks for sharing it with us enjoyed watching your video thanks again and hope you have a wonderful weekend
Hey C J, Great video and catches under some bad circumstances. Friendly Amtrak crew though! Just found this vid; funny thing a year later! Also; you've got some great videos that you've taken and, I just subbed you not realizing that you are one of my subscribers LOL !!! : ) Anyway C J, I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! - Balerio
+bnsfwarbonnet I know that, now. It was an emergency inside the passenger car, not the train itself I realize. As I've been corrected 4 times, I now know the error of my ways. And I will make sure of my info before assuming stuff. You can read the comments below as well :)
Thank you! I hope so to, especially if he had a car on the train, and if he was going to visit family. Don't know how Amtrak is going to work it out :(
Good catch, my only wish would have been to have kept the Medium Clear indication more prominent as it was knocked down (hold the focus point at 15:12 longer), but that's a minor quibble at best.
After riding grayhound several times to Oregon I got the chance to ride Amtrak. Best decision of my life. It was a really enjoyable ride. I'd choose Amtrak over grayhound ANY DAY.
To be clear, the stop was to resolve an onboard medical emergency. The train did not "go into emergency", which implies an emergency application of the brakes. This train stopped smoothly and gently, as it would for a normal stop.
I saw a similar thing happen at the Old Orchard Beach station on the Downeaster line. The train made a normal stop, but something happened with one of the passengers on board. They had to haul him out on a stretcher, and the train left about 10 minutes late.
I've got a photo a friend sent me, of a steel coil load that the bands had broke on. It was hanging over the side of the car, far enough to almost touch a passing track! If you didn't see something like that coming, it would kill you! In my years of train watching, taking photos, as well as video taping, I've witnessed at lot of potential hazards. Best advice is stand at least 25' away from the nearest rail if you can, and leave yourself 360 degrees to run, if God forbid if it derails!
Wow, that's crazy! Yeah, thanks for warning me. I'll definitely keep that in mind when I'm trackside. I typically stand like 15-25 feet away but my camcorder a bit closer because I stand away from it when I take pictures of trains when they pass by. Definitely don't want to get whipped by a steel coil passing at 40mph+
Nice catch! Why is the video so jerky at first? Enable Steady Shot if you have it. Glad that you followed the locomotive as it passed. Nice to see what is ahead. Why not show EMS vehicle? Nice, steady tripod-mounted video! 9:30 What is the bright light which illuminated when the *(o)T(o)* activated? Wish that you had shown the signals changing when the freight train passed.
Every video is not going to be perfect. I'm still making a new system when I railfan, it'll change once I get a DSLR. I'm not going to get every detail, at least you could see the light s from the ambulance which wasn't my main focal point and when Q315 passed by me I moved back meaning I had to reset my thinking and didn't get the symbol change. This video probably would have never happened since I didn't plan it if I hadn't check Amtrak.com to see it's current location. My videos are better now anyways and are still developing
Captain Justice Not seeking perfectionism. At first everything was jerky. Enable Steady Shot to prevent it. DSLR is not needed. Your Sony is excellent! I'd video everything interesting and exciting. Not narrowed to only trains. There is still plenty of train action along with the small amout of ambulance action.
Robert Gift That is because I JUST arrived on the scene. And it is enabled. Yes it is needed because I can't use a phone for pics for very long. And I wanted to focus on the rare moment of getting shots of the stopped P053 as on its route and never stops here unless something like this happens. Thanks for the critiques but if you see my videos now, they're not excellent but they're much better then past videos. Or the [New Method] video, pretty much everyone said they like my videos that way. This was my old method, I work on a new method now...
Commentator is partially correct. Fayetteville is not a scheduled stop. But, it is a FLAG stop. If there are passengers to get off or board there the train will stop there.
It would have been a nice video if not for the teenager acting more like an 8 year old. Trains have to stop for unscheduled stops all the time. And I worked and retired from the railroad and while a buff myself when I ran across a fan that didn't know when to shut up. I simply walked away. Had one fan follow me to a diner and after I sat down he wanted to know why I left so suddenly, you really want an answer? Yes I was told. Because of your actions, I was sitting there in my folding chair enjoying the peace and quiet when you come along and all I hear is 90 plus questions , comments, and whoops about I never have seen those engines. As much as I like trains when I run into a former like you I go in the opposite direction, now I'm hungry if you can shut up and enjoy a meal in silence sit down otherwise get out. He left. Two weeks later he showed up with his own folding chair and sat quietly for just over 30 minutes and I started a conversation explaining what they were type of power horsepower and he made it for 50 minutes until several other regulars showed up and within 15 minutes were gone and he looked at me and asked why did they leave? I simply told him you went foamer on them, it's a lot easier to learn about trains if you stop acting like a undisciplined kid and simply listen and you will learn a lot. Real hard to learn when nobody can get a word in edgewise. Took the kid a couple of months but eventually everyone every Saturday accepted him and he learned a lot. Ever wonder why when you run across other rail fans they quickly disappear? Think about it.
James Shanks Luckily for both of us, I'm not the same person almost 3 years later. If you take a look at my recent videos, I don't talk anymore and I've completely changed my style. I'm sure you would appreciate my style now way more now than in this video. I've kind have an attitude like you yourself described in the sense of typically staying away from foamers. I'm nearly 18 now and I've learned the errors of my ways and I'm more mature in every aspect in my videos and as a person. Just thought to give ya an update and I appreciate the feedback ;)
I work for HALLCON here in central Washington state I'll tell you about 95% of the bnsf crews are awsome I have bin told a lot of good stores from thim I love helping thim with there trains whin they run into problems.
Nice video, thanks Captain Justice. Have you ever rode on the Auto Train, I have and I use to love it but they have gotten way too expensive. Hope you get a chance if you haven't already..
I was a young 15 year old teen at the time, what do you expect haha. Luckily I'm not like that anymore. I rarely talk in my videos anymore and my video style has changed a lot
Hopefully the guy who was taken to the hospital was ok. I'm sure Amtrak would've taken his car off in Sanford and any other belongings and kept them at the station for a family member to pick up. I would imagine this happens pretty frequently on the Auto Train. A lot of retired people use it to go back and forth from Florida in the winter. I don't think you're allowed to take the Auto Train without a car. The Silver Meteor and Silver Star go to the same place and serve the intermediate stops.
For sure! Definitely one of the most iconic passenger trains in the US! It's actually pretty close P42s are rated at 4,250hp & P40s were rated as 4,000hp but upgraded to P42 specs so they're both basically the same, just one model is older. Typical freight locomotive output is between 4,000hp to 4,400hp. So pretty much the same range, just passenger locomotives are built for speed service and freight locomotives are built for freight hauling. Could passenger locomotives haul normal freight? Possibly so, but they wouldn't be as efficient as actual freight locomotives. Same thing with freight in passenger service, not as efficient as passenger locomotives. I hope that answers your question!
Those p42w are pretty strong....ive seen one head a line of diesels out here in Philly a while back...1 p42 pulali g a line of different diesels...(gp38s, dash-9s, and a few more)
"Road Closed" but sure blast the crossing gates like crazy. I thought they shutup after a minute? Are they building a new Station or is it just something they are building not railroad
Great catch!, and some rreally great exposure. What camera were you using? One correction though; the train did not go into emergency. That was a normal stop by Amtrak. (It WAS a stop for a medical emergency.)
+jcl410 Thank you! Well, it was an emergency though, and it doesn't stop on it's route, but you're correct on the medical emergency. Thanks for correcting me though :)
Maybe I misunderstood you but it sounded like you said Amtrak was going into emergency...It's not....Thats a term for an emergency application of the breaks (dumping). It requires an "Emergncy"x3 raido transmission too.
The CSX FREIGHT TRAINS reminds me so much, of the NYC subway trains, especially the express trains. The LIRR Long Island Railroad, commuter, Metro North commuter train as well. They travel fast too at a rapid speed. I love them all because it's so, exhilarating and invigorating to experience that mode of travel. Sensational for long distance travel viewing, the scenery. Enjoying the amenities as the above, scenic car provides a time out to soar the sites.
Torice Sullivan You don't have to watch it if you don't like it. Simple as that instead of raging at me. I was still in my younger phase of railfanning here, but now since I have a bit more experience with how people want my videos, I hardly talk now and there is not a lot of movement besides panning.
I wonder, if trains have a serious medical emergency onboard, but they're far from a station, are they allowed to go a reasonable speed above the speed limit?
If the train delayed other trains, then that's just normal Amtrak at this rate of Amtrak. today at route 128 a NEC train was delayed and put on time over and over again witch was really screwing things up.
It is so spectacular that the communication and ability to help a passenger with a medical emergency is so well coordinated! Kudos to the engineers and attendants !

The engineer certainly knows how to handle that horn! That was awesome!!!
That is by far the best sounding K5LA I have ever heard!!
Amtraks auto train should advertise "We Put Cars In Cars!"
SummerWest VEVO Yeah lol
"Yo Dawg, I heard you like cars...."
Every passenger on that train must have taken their car with them. Better on the train than driving all the way..
Gary XHLC so I put cars in ya car so u can drive while u drive!
As opposed to "We will even take your hearse!" ?
Man so awesome how exciting you are and you make your videos. ❤️ Keep the up the good work and thanks for sharing

Amtrak: Oh, CXS came to this party? Oh, no, Union Pacific did, and so did Norfolk Southern. HLCX: Am I a joke to you!?
Haha 😂😂
Talking about a rare event. But do you know what's rarer, An Amtrak Acela Express making an emergency stop in front of my house
Snivy Films that's definitely rare
Subbed keep up the good recording
Studio800Gaming Thanks dude!
I work for HALLCON here in central Washington state I'll tell you about 95% of the bnsf crews are awsome I have bin told a lot of good stores from thim I love helping thim with there trains whin they run into problems.
That's good to know! That's pretty cool you get to do that!
Why did the Amtrak Auto Train slam on its brakes
Nice video, thanks Captain Justice. Have you ever rode on the Auto Train, I have and I use to love it but they have gotten way too expensive. Hope you get a chance if you haven't already..
Ginger Edwards No unfortunately. Maybe one day
How can you "have a nice day" in the middle of the night?
It's daytime somewhere!
A nice Christmas gift no doubt! :o) and I just subbed your channel
Nice. I was riding an amtrak and this happened.
Thank you! Really!? Sweet! One this exact train or was it a different time?
Foaming pretty hard, sir.
I was a young 15 year old teen at the time, what do you expect haha. Luckily I'm not like that anymore. I rarely talk in my videos anymore and my video style has changed a lot
It's all good. Still an interesting video.
Never before have I gotten an Eargasm from a p40 lol
Hopefully the guy who was taken to the hospital was ok. I'm sure Amtrak would've taken his car off in Sanford and any other belongings and kept them at the station for a family member to pick up. I would imagine this happens pretty frequently on the Auto Train. A lot of retired people use it to go back and forth from Florida in the winter. I don't think you're allowed to take the Auto Train without a car. The Silver Meteor and Silver Star go to the same place and serve the intermediate stops.
That is a lot of cars for two engines. Often wondered how their power compares to freight locomotives.
Attention please, here comes the Amtrak Auto Train that's coming into an Emergency
I've been on the Auto Train twice!
Cool1
I was on it once heading from Orlando back to Union Station
I seen it twice too!
Love Amtrak. Rode it twice.
Love it too! I've ridden Amtrak several times
Great catch!, and some rreally great exposure. What camera were you using?
One correction though; the train did not go into emergency. That was a normal stop by Amtrak. (It WAS a stop for a medical emergency.)
+jcl410 ps: I just saw the camera info in the description. Doh!
+jcl410 Thank you! Well, it was an emergency though, and it doesn't stop on it's route, but you're correct on the medical emergency. Thanks for correcting me though :)
You were standing pretty close to a "Live" track when Q438-20 came by. Back off some, son!
Wow Its super rare to have 2 P40DC's leading a long distance routes
Nope, this is Auto train. It has to have 2 locomotives.' s
Maybe I misunderstood you but it sounded like you said Amtrak was going into emergency...It's not....Thats a term for an emergency application of the breaks (dumping). It requires an "Emergncy"x3 raido transmission too.
Good video!!!!! Railfanning is fun!!!!!!!!!
+William Taylor Thank you William! It certainly is :)
Enjoying the amenities as the above, scenic car provides a time out to soar the sites.
i gave thumbs up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+lisainvenice11 Thank you!
you know what.. i can't even finish this video.
Torice Sullivan You don't have to watch it if you don't like it. Simple as that instead of raging at me. I was still in my younger phase of railfanning here, but now since I have a bit more experience with how people want my videos, I hardly talk now and there is not a lot of movement besides panning.
Crossbuck Productions So r u like the defender of CJ or something? Just wondering
Clearly; atleast I'm not jumping up and down and screaming in mine with some bullshit commentary that's incorrect to begin with
Crossbuck Productions I know ur pissed at the "haters" or whatever but stop bitching.
Btw, in other news you shouldn’t change your videos to what people want. It’s about how you want them.. lol
What happens to the car in an emergency if the driver is alone
I wonder, if trains have a serious medical emergency onboard, but they're far from a station, are they allowed to go a reasonable speed above the speed limit?
I hate you, vyvanse That's a good question...
Nice kech on both trains
Nice Video!
Thank you!
What camera was this filmed with?
WorldwideRailfanTV It's in the description. I put the equipment that I use for each video in my description
Yeah that CSX freight train really was flying was n t it ? Hauling A .
If the train delayed other trains, then that's just normal Amtrak at this rate of Amtrak. today at route 128 a NEC train was delayed and put on time over and over again witch was really screwing things up.
