Just south of Everett, Washington is the small town of Mukilteo. There’s a commuter station for the Sounder, but Amtrak doesn’t stop there. It’s also a quiet uncrowded place to video trains, especially on the weekend. This morning I stopped there, hoping to catch some freight activity, but the Amtrak Cascades 513 was running 45 minutes late so I knew I could catch that also. I noted on the Amtrak App that it had departed Everett so I knew it would arrive shortly. Instead of an arriving train, I heard “Emergency, Emergency, Emergency” on the scanner.
Fortunately this was a close call, but it delayed an already late train. Following the Cascades was BNSF 6664 pulling a short intermodal train down to the docks in Seattle.
Thanks for watching!
I think we can all agree that the talgo cab cars look strange
War 1109 They are ugly.
You are being way too kind. It's ok to admit, they are butt ugly.
@@seminolegonzalezairlines7757 Bullshit! They look awesome.
I agree with you Gammareign!
THEY LOOK BEAUTIFUL AND HANDSOME!!!
I agree.
I'm spanish and this is how the Talgo 6/7 diesel 334 loco and trainset looks like even before 2009.
I don't know who is accountable for the abomination.
ua-cam.com/video/0xdlGVOEOBU/v-deo.html
That was a quick stop, also I like how you can actually hear the horn in the distance when he goes into emergency. Nice catch
Thanks!
This where the Boeing/Everett branch line goes up a 6% branch to the factory at Paine Field.
Yes.
Wow! What a catch! Glad everyone was okay. Thanks for posting this!
+noahax It was lucky; also a bit scary to listen to.
That happens very often at here, México, you can go and walk in the tracks, Last week someone almost got hit because he was walking on the tracks and listening to music when FXE 372 with a autorack track
In the US, the railroads are fanatical about keeping people off the tracks because of liability. Often, they overreact and confront people that are clearly not on the right of way.
Great timing, excellent catch!
Thank you!
Thanks for your reply! Not sure what's inside them but we get a few down here in Tulsa, OK.
Interesting!
Man, I can't get over how beautiful the scenery looks in this video! Makes me wamt to move out to the west coast even more! LOL great video! I kind of felt sorry for the lady who had that close call, though.
+StarWarsTrains It's a really beautiful place with lots of spots to railfan. I felt sorry for the woman also, but I felt worse for the crew. I was listening to my scanner in New Mexico last year when the Southwest Chief hit someone. You could really tell how shaken up they were.
Yard Limit Yeah, that's sad. =( The Southwest Chief, Sunset Limited, and Texas Eagle were always late and hard for me to catch back when I lived out in Texas, but I did get lucky a couple of times and caught the latter (even when I rode through New Mexico on the way back from San Diego).
I miss living out there so much! LOL
You don't want to move there. Most of the time it is raining and when it isn't it is usually foggy and drizzling! Maybe two or three weeks total in August is good for rail fanning and outdoor activiies!
doesnt that area get like 140 inches of rain per year? all from the pineapple express?
That sure was a lucky catch!
Those Talgo sets are soooooo gorgeous!
+Elevation Station Productions Well, some of them are. Thanks for watching!
Great video! That scanner came in clear. I just subscribed also.
+SoFloRR 1018 Thank you!
Awesome!
Thanks!
Great video! I really like North America's trains, and wish to visit USA or Canada someday. Greetings from Finland.
Thank you Jorma. I hope you do get to visit the USA.
Jorma Gifu You are a rare one! Most people who live in the Eastern World (Europe, Asia, Africa) say that our trains look boring and ugly. When I hear people say that I say back, at least we don't have dinky, weak horns (i don't really mean that, most horns in the Eastern world are just fine).
BoomClashPirate-Games and trains Can't lie, European horns are often very lame.
Jorma Gifu heh ... "wee waaah Weee waaaah"
I wish I could visit Finland for the same reasons!
4:44 I'm not used to see these kind of trains in Denmark, but they look nice anyway
Thanks. They take some getting used to.
Awesome Video!!!
Thanks!
That has happened to the Durango and Silverton Narrow Guage Railroad, unfortunately the train could not stop in time and ran over the person. It can happen when you least expect it. God Bless You.
Only thing I could find on a quick search was an Hermosa man who committed suicide by train.
So did the cops get her ? Otherwise she might get hit by the net train ! Did Amtrak even call the law ?
+Buck Savage Evidently she ran off after the train stopped and they made sure she was OK. I'm sure the dispatcher called the police, but by the time they arrived, she would be long gone.
Nope. Amtrak declined to press charges.
Why is Amtrak so ugly out there? Just look at the locomotive.
That's actually a Talgo cabcar. Yes it is ugly! I think they are supposed to start replacing them with Siemens units early next year.
Yard Limit well you truly do learn something every day
Yard Limit I did not know this
I have a little love for them, they are different
I think the Talgo cabcars are almost all gone now. There are SC-44s in their place.
nice looking amtrak !!!
+freighttrainsahpassing Some people love it and some hate it. I think this newer version of the Talgo's is really ugly. The older ones are very aesthetic.
Nice video!
Thanks Boris!
THAT IS RARE! I subscribed! Cool video!
+Trains N' Stuff Thank you!
You are welcome! Would you mind subbing me back?
+Trains N' Stuff Done!
Thanks...
Trains N' Stuff & West Coast Railfan Productions
Nice video.
Thank you.
What's the difference between this type of Amtrak train and the ones we typically see?
This is a regional train that runs from Vancouver, BC to Eugene OR, as opposed to other Amtrak trains that run cross country.
It also has a fancy paint job and has Talgo trainsets in that livery. XD
Huge railfan and live right near here.
Cool!
Same!
I like train videos on UA-cam 👍
Thank you!
Do you have a video of your scanner you use for videos?
I use a Uniden BC125AT.
Was this the train with the close call?
+Alberto Madeira Jr Yes.
"Emergency" then they leisurely discuss it back and forth.??
Of course. If you've ever listened to radio traffic on a scanner you'll find that everyone is pretty calm.
that train looks like the spanish 'Talgo'. Is it? Built in the US under license?
It is a Talgo, but I think it was built in Spain and shipped over.
@@YardLimit Actually, Talgo set up shop somewhere in the states, so the trains are built there.
@@mr.conductor5444 I know they have a facility in Wisconsin. This was several years ago when I made this video so I was just going off the information available then. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I think I heard something specific at 0:35. Was that a Uniden scanner in close call mode picking up EOT? :D
It picked up something. Don't know what it was.
Transmissions shouldn't be longer than 10 seconds.
4:50 Yikes the drag that F59PHI must cause
So just so you know, the F59 is providing power. The Talgo cabcar is unpowered.
I know
I noticed just beyond the quad signals that there's a pair of crossbucks. Where does that track lead to?
Trainnut1958
🇺🇸🚂🚃🚃🚃🇺🇸
That track goes up to the Boeing plant. Large special cars with Boeing 777 and 767 cockpits that are made in Kansas are taken up there periodically. I have several other videos showing that.
And 737 fuselages can sometimes be seen going to and from Boeing.
What Happened?
The Cascade train went into emergency because it almost hit a trespasser.
Do you work with mow
No
Yard Limit ok where did you get the radio scanner?
I bought it on Amazon. It's a Bearcat BC125AT
Yard Limit is it also a radio scanner?
By definition it's a radio scanner. I think what you want to ask is if it can scan other frequencies. Yes. You can program in the frequencies you want to scan. It will also pick up transmissions that are 'close'. I have a number of railroad frequencies programmed in, in addition to local EMS frequencies. You can hold it on a frequencies so it doesn't scan. That way you won't miss part of a transmission you're particularly interested in. I lock mine on the NMRX dispatcher frequency because that's closest to where I live now and the most relevant to my railfanning. I also find that scanning EMS frequencies is often depressing.
No offense but its nothing new. Trespassers are everywhere. Hell i do it sometimes. I dont fuck with anything becasue im not trying to interfere with railroad operations. Simply to just go on an adventure. Not causing any harm.
+PRESTIGER33 I understand. The problem occurs when something like this happens; someone is drunk and they almost get hit. In New Mexico where I live sometimes, a kid was walking home from school down the tracks because it was the quickest way home. He had his headphones on and never heard the Amtrak coming up behind him.
Of course there are people that commit suicide by train which happened in Edmonds, WA last week. They obviously don't care if they are trespassing, but they also have no idea the trauma it causes the crew that hits them. I heard that on the radio once and it was hard to listen to.
Thanks for watching!
+Yard Limit Right being drunk is more rare compared to suicide. A few days ago 2 people were killed by an acela between branford CT and guilford CT. Im sure it was suicide as they did not state the reason. Then about a month and a half ago some guy at Mansfield station ma committed suicide and the whole station got closed and had to be completely cleaned. You can guess why. It was 125mph regional train. The headphones thing is just a another big story. That is just complete ignorance and stupidity. I actually know when trains run in my area. Ive got my scanner out to listen to dispatch and everything. Plus i usually do it with a friend of mine thats very knowledgeable about the railroad. Anyway though nice talking :)
Yard Limit I live near Puyallup, and multiple people have been hit there. I been to a scene of one of those cases before, it’s not pretty... it’s sad.. and a few years ago someone actually caught a suicide on film here. It’s called “suicide by Amtrak” on Andrewamtraks channel. Ugh... it’s saddening.
Just last year in my town, a 13 year old boy ran in front of an NS grain train and didn't make it
Yard Limit wow, wearing headphones? that's just... DUMB. I don't get how anyone could think that's a good idea. I guess the kid must’ve assumed that trains were loud enough that he'd be able to hear any that would be coming up. sadly he was mistaken...
What is the noise at 2:10
An airplane.
But the noise just disappears so quickly all of the sudden
2:28
@@calebverdone105 Keep in mind that I compress the scanner audio timeline when I edit, otherwise there would be big gaping gaps of nothingness.
@@YardLimit oh good editing then, i couldn’t notice
Wow nice video i just subscribe to you =)
+amtrak and csx/marc fan fisher man Thanks!
"Trespasser" or what the media would call a "pedestrian"
yup
Nice setting and nice trackwork with concrete sleepers and rail bolts. Only thing sadly missing is the CATENERY! North America really needs desperately to ELECTRIFY her railway infrastructure immediately! This is the TRUE 'emergency'!
+Danilo Peterson Interesting point. Thanks!
Danilo Peterson No we don't, too expensive and absolutely pointless for us. As someone else already said, there is WAY to much distance, and the only place it is really feasible is in the Northeast Corridor and western CA.
Danilo Peterson I partly agree with you. In cities and areas like the NE corridor and Californa, yes it if needed. But for like freight lines and crap, that won't be possible.
We don't like seeing all the overhead infrastructure in electrifying Like to keep our scenery beautiful. Hate UGLY wires and poles.
Scott Siler it's actually more to do the cost associated with running thousands of miles/kilometres as someone else already mentioned! I do agree that it's not the nicest addition to the scenery though!
Algum Brasileiro para explicar? Kkkk
não
do you know why they had a chain link fence right there? what purpose it served? wow homeless 35 year old woman drunkon the tracks, hat could of ended in disaster. sad world we live in when a 35 year old woman cannot afford a place to live but manages to still get alcohol. and possibly other drugs.
There's a passenger platform behind where I was standing so it prevents people from crossing the tracks to get to the platform on main 1. There's a bridge over main 1 to get to main 2.
Sheesh this thing is ugly😂 California Amtrak has the best trains. Great catch, though.
Thank you. The Talgo cabcars are indeed ugly.
I think it’s quite festinating how unusual it is to see one of thoes in real life, close up also. Yes I can agree that the cab cars look quite strange with the 1 wheel set and with how short the car is.
A drunk homeless person almost gets hit by a train in Mukilteo, Washington State - go figure. She probably used her food stamps to buy the alcohol. How sad. I'm doing my best to keep my politics out of my comments - I'm glad she didn't get hit by the train.
You can't buy alcohol with food stamps.
Actually one can by buying several items one at a time that are under a dollar and get change then combine change to get hooch. I used to be a nite clerk at a convenience store and have seen the "game". This is the bad part of food stamps.
From what I've heard, food stamps in Puerto Rico circulate like currency.
In LA, the food stamps are sold and periodically, the Los Angeles Times runs its regular expose on the trafficking.
Yard Limit that lady was lucky she didn’t get hit by the train!
